The positive: The offices were clean. The assistants were nice. They saw me the same day as I called in to make an appointment. The less than positive: The doctor who treated me for a retinal tear used a laser procedure to attempt to correct it without giving me any explanation as to what I would be experiencing during the procedure nor the results I could expect. The procedure itself was very uncomfortable and negatively surprising in its lack of precision. I was not provided with any information about what to expect as the anesthetic wore off or what, if any, analgesics would be safe to use or anything else about how I should care for my eye following the procedure. I had no idea if what I experienced over the next few days was normal or not. On my follow up appointment, same deal. No explanation of anything, just go in, pay, leave. Overall: I would not return to this office. I would stick with a retinal specialist in private practice (such as I switched to after the 2nd frustrating visit to Accuity) rather than this or other chain offices. read more

Honestly, I never leave reviews unless I have something good to say. But, this has been the worst healthcare experience of my life. I booked an appointment with the ophthalmologist for urgent issues (cannot go outside, drive, etc due to extreme light sensitivity). He saw me for literally 3 minutes, told me my retinas were ok, diagnosed me with dry eye, and REFUSED to help with it. They literally walked out of the door telling me I had to make a follow up appointment with a different ophthalmologist for that, despite pleading with the doctor & front desk. He did not explain dry eye or potential treatments for it. The entire thing felt like an obvious attempt to squeeze money out of my insurance at the expense of my pain & disability. I voiced my concerns directly to both Dr. Samuel and the front desk before writing this review but they took no action to rectify the situation. read more

Will never go back. LONG wait, crowded non-distanced waiting rooms. Facility resembles more of an assembly line or puppy mill than a doctor's office. I arrived on time, with all of my new patient paperwork printed and filled out at home...and then proceeded to wait for an hour before being called back for a technician to ask me most of the same questions which were already answered on the forms. Then sent to another waiting room, waited nearly half an hour before deciding enough was enough... went to the front desk, asked for a refund and left. If you've got all day to sit around and wait, this might be just your cup of tea, but I have my own business to run, and found their practice to be inconsiderate and an absurd waste of my time. read more

Dr. Torres is great, he explained everything to me, provided me with a recommendation for Lasix. He showed me and explained the images of my eyes. The staff was helpful and very nice. Altogether one of the better experiences I've had with an optometrist. read more

I went during the quarantine and it was the most frightening experience ever! No one in the office had gloves. The tech at least used Purell before touching my face to put drops in. The doctor didn't. He was touching the computer, his phone, etc., then pulled up my eyelid to drop in the drops. It was disgusting. They do not wipe the machine down in front of you before asking you to put your chin in it. I asked when it was wiped and he said "after every patient," but who knows. I was so grossed out! The doctor wanted me to get an RX, but his office would not help with the insurance prior authorization even after calling multiple times over 3 weeks. Eventually, I had my own eye doctor where I live (I was just visiting the area for this visit) take care of it in one day. Why would anyone ever go back to this place? read more

If I could give minus stars for my review I would. This is only my second posting of a review and first negative one. The surgical center Acuity uses for its Surgery is the most unorganized incompetent lackadaisical group of employees I have ever come in contact with! My surgery for replacement of my eye lenses has been scheduled for weeks. Just two days prior to my first eye surgery I was informed there was a possibility my lens might not arrive. Finally the day before it arrived. My scheduled surgery was set at 930 am I waited in the waiting room for 1 1/2 hours before taking me into a surgery that took 20 minutes To perform. My post surgery care Instructions were handed to me after my surgery without discussing or having anyone follow up after the fact. Those instructions specified I was to have three forms of eyedrops used prior to my surgery. Those instructions were never communicated or eye drops called into the pharmacy prior to my surgery. After reading the post surgery instructions I Contacted the surgical center inquiring about the eye drops to be used after my surgery. the Surgical center informed me they would call the prescription into the pharmacy. After three calls into the pharmacy checking to see if the prescription has been filled I finally called The after hours Physician who Finally called in the prescription to the pharmacy. My second surgery planned 17 days later from my first again two days prior to the surgery I was informed that the Lens needed for the surgery had not arrived. When questioned why the lens was not received I was told that they only order the lens one week prior to the surgery and because of computer problems they Couldn't get the lens. As a result after waiting weeks for this surgery they needed to Reschedule the surgery until the following week. My complaint about this company is purely centered around the planning and organization for the first of two needed Surgeries performed has been Satisfactory. If you wish to keep your sanity and blood pressure normal my recommendation is to find another Eye care company!! read more

Acuity Eye Group is a sham. I had a vision exam for glasses. I paid cash as my insurance doesn't cover it and I told them so. Was told I had cataracts and was given a very different prescription than previously. I got my Rx filled at Costco. Could not see anything through my new glasses!!!! Went back to get my money back. They said I couldn't see because Costco does a bad job on glasses!! AND I couldn't see because of the cataracts. They checked the prescription of the glasses and found they were made correctly. Had another vision exam at Costco where I was told I do NOT have cataracts and my Rx had not changed!!!! Thank goodness Costco redid my glasses for free. Waited and waited for my refund from Acuity in the mail. Called several times and spoke to office staff and to billing staff wasting alot of my time. Weeks later after calling and being told "the check's in the mail", I was told I had to travel there to get my money! I said NO, send it. Finally after months I receive my $65 refund. Whew. That's the end of it, right? Nope. While I was waiting for the check, I received numerous bills! One for over $150, although the original eye exam was $65! When my insurance denied payment for a vision exam (should never have been billed!), they resubmitted the claim to insurance as medical!!! They lied to the insurance company!!!! My insurance paid!!!!! Then they wanted a copay from me!! No way!! At this point I had received a refund, yet they're billing me??!!?? Does anyone in the office know what they're doing? The doctor didn't, nor the staff. If you go here, good luck with your new blurry vision and watch for the erroneous bills. Do NOT pay them!!!! So, NO, I do NOT recommend Acuity Eye Group. read more

I usually go to the Palm Desert office and Dr. Samuel is fabulous! I had retinal surgery in January and follow ups were fine until the first week in March when I had a follow up scheduled at the La Quinta office. I was seen by Dr. Chang who was very impersonal. He decided I needed an injection and proceeded to roughly and very impatiently inject the lidocaine and then said "Put pressure on that" which I did while he grabbed the injection, not even waiting for the lidocaine to work and very roughly jabbed the needle into my eye and quickly injected the solution. He then said "Let me show you how to put pressure on that eye when I tell you to." He put my fingers on a Kleenex on my eye and pressed his hand onto mine with extreme pressure which jabbed my fingers into the eye until I yelled and he let go. I had surgery a week later on the other eye and refused to see Dr. Chang so Dr. Stevens (who is wonderful) followed up. Now here a week after my surgery on my other eye and the first on done in January hurts worse. Love Dr. Samuel and Dr. Stevens but I will avoid Dr. Chang. I visited the office in La Quinta several months ago. They were not even ready to be open and offer service. The office was messy and dirty. The wait was long and when I finally saw the doctor, her evaluation was quick with no explanation of my eyes. I ordered a pair of glasses but was told if I needed them fitted I would have to go to Walmart for that. Got my money back for the glasses and will never recommend or visit any of these offices again. Terrible customer service and lack of training and skill. read more

I went for my appointment today and while I was generally happy with the nurse that took me to the back and perform the initial exam and the ophthalmologist her self I was very disappointed in the front desk help. The girl at the front with the tattoos on the arms was not only rude to me and my caregiver but also to every other person that walked in the door. She spoke to them very rudely. They failed to let us know that the Optatrician was not on site prior to our appointment I did not inform us until we were ready to purchase glasses that there was no one there to do so and we would have to come back another day. A small inconvenience but something that could've been mentioned at the beginning of our appointment. Unfortunately this was an appointment that had to be rescheduled and we had the same experience the last time we were in with the front staff and the same girl with the infinity tattoo on her arm being very rude and dismissive. Everyone else was polite but the girl who was checking in the patients with the arm tattoos and acted like she was in charge was rude to everyone I heard her interact with. A little confusing how their office in La Quinta is set up. On my first visit I was given a couple of tests and ushered back up to the front desk. The front desk looked up my benefits and asked if I needed glasses..why would I be there if not for that. Five stars for the doctors and staff. No stars for the billing office in Pasadena. They can't seem to get a few of my payments, made either in the office or mailed in when I receive a statement, posted correctly. I have called and emailed the billing dept with no success. It seems perhaps some of the employees have little experience in accounting. I plan on contacting the manager in Pasadena on Monday and hope to get it straighten out quickly. UPDATE...I talked with Anaenoosh in the billing dept. She was very nice and helpful. She went over all my questionable charges and my payments with me and now everything is on target. read more

These people are amazing. They are ready for us at the time of our appointment--no sitting around in the lobby. They dilate Jim's eyes, gets the pictures taken, and have him set up in an exam room within minutes, with friendly service and good interactions among the employees. This week Jim had to have dye injected so Dr. Chang could see better. Again--VERY efficient, without a lot of waiting. These visits are as painless as they can be (when they are for the purpose of getting a shot!). We miss the entire staff when we have to go back to the NW to our other retina doctor. read more
