Worst customer service ever. EVER!!!! This place is run by a staff that sit on their cell phones and do not help you at all. It's a shame I can't change but this is the only place I can go to for now. THREE times I showed up for an appointment even after it was confirmed BY THEIR STAFF, and when I get there they tell me "we don't have an appointment for you" and send me home. Ridiculous. I have called there for help with my eye glasses and they put me on hold for so long that I have to hang up and call back. Bottom line, this place is horrid. I tell you, do not go. It's a place you would think is run by the county but we all have great insurance. I remember being there on another occasion and they made a patient wait so long, he got up and asked why am I waiting here so long and everyone is going before me? The girl told him, did you fill out the paperwork? He said no one gave me anything to fill out!!! She THEN handed him a clipboard and said well fill THIS out. She gave it to him with no apology or anyrhing!!!!! It was disgusting. Bottom line ALL the staff here hate people. They have lousy attitudes and literally hate helping anyone. You can sit for hours and hours with no help. The doctors are pretty good though, but because of the poor sour staff, it doesn't matter what doctors are there. I am writing this review to share an experience with Dr. Grant-Acquah at Acuity Eye Group which is by far the most disrespectful Ophthalmologist someone could ever be served by although it states in his "specialities" that he loves to reduce health disparities in underserved communities" not only did he not offer any solution to my sisters stye he simply questioned his inability to do anything for her which was followed by him telling her to leave and get help from another health official not recognizing his disrespectful behavior let alone not being able to help her find a simple solution to something she's been struggling with for the longest. It seems to me that this isn't the first time it's occurred and I really hope his higher up is able to contact us over this behavior he seems to continue in his line of work. Overall, I'm deeply disappointed to have even recommended this spot to several other colleagues and receive this treatment from someone who is so educated. I'm surprised they even let his actions continue at his workplace since it seems like this isn't the first time his higher up has dealt with this. read more

Dr Grant and his staff are top notch . He's everything an excellent MD should be . Knowledgeable, really listens and with a great bedside manner and realistic approach to situations . If I had anything slightly negative it would the office waiting times are sometimes quite long - but that seems to be the norm nowadays and something im prepared for . I had a 1:00 appointment. Signed in and was taken back with 3 min. The assistant that attended to me professional and pleasant. I then had to sit for a bit while eye drops soaked in. In hardly no time I was taken in for my procedure. Dr Chen was in very soon. My procedure completed with good instruction on what to do after. I checked out by 1:30. Love that they managing there schedule so we'll. Dr Chen I feel very comfortable with him easy to have dialogue with. Really let you feel like a partner in your care. Won't answer any of my phone calls. Thought they were really busy so I've called back multiple days but have not been able to reach them at all. Also, be prepared to sit for hours just to talk for a few minutes with the doctor. This place is a joke. read more

Walked in and instantly front desk was rude. On top of that, my sons appointment was at 2:10. It's now 3:45 and here we are, still waiting.

Had my insurance company call them to verify they would took my insurance. No problem for medical needs or an eye exam for glasses. Got my medical needs exam first. The next week on the day of my exam for glasses they called and said, 'we know you have the coverage for the eye exam but we don't take your insurance for that type of procedure.' They had access to my insurance, knew my insurance would cover the exam and $75 for glasses. But they still would not bill my insurance company for the exam. My insurance company again spoke to them and told them I was insuranced. They didn't care. I canceled my appointment and my followup for my medical needs. read more

Dr. Grant is hands on the best ophthlamologist I have met. He is honest, genuine and really knows his trade. Came in twice for a sty that wouldn't go away and he gave me some advice to reduce it, but it was like a stalker and wouldn't leave me alone. :). He gave me his email as well, in case I had any questions and told me to come back in a month if it was still there. I was worried because insurance was almost done - starting a new job - and my new insurance wasn't going to kick in until 3 months. But Dr. Grant assured me he would still see me if the sty was still there in 4 weeks. And it was. Just went it today, got an injection and the sty will be gone. As always Dr. Grant was awesome!! I was referred here by my daughters pediatrician. We met with Dr. Grant, the pediactric opthalomogist, and he was very kind, gentle and very patient with my 3 year old daughter who had strabismus and did not like her eyes to be touched. He always made my daughter feel comfortable by talking to her and he used different techniques that would allow him to properly do his assessments. He always made sure that all of our questions were answered and he explained everything thoroughly and he never rushed the eye exams. You can tell that he really cares about his patients! read more

Dr. Lee is awesome, she is very thorough and works efficiently. Staff, with the exception of one person who kept her mask below her nose, were all great at wearing masks properly and cleaning all the surfaces before you used it. read more

This rating is purely for the office and scheduling staff, who treated me like complete garbage once they learned my insurance provider was one for low-income persons. They told me they would call me back, and never did, they put me on hold for upwards of 20 min, and they lied to me about my insurance. I am disgusted that they would treat any human the way they have treated me, and I will be reporting them to every appropriate outlet. The biggest offense was trying to tell me that I needed a "letter of approval" from my pcp in order to schedule a simple eye exam. That is a complete fabrication, which I had to go through the trouble of 45 min on the phone with my insurance provider to confirm. These disgusting behaviors are clearly meant to ward off and exhaust clients who they view as "undesirable", and who they probably assume don't know any better. (I am the daughter of a nurse and an insurance salesman- I know that these behaviors are unacceptable.) I was attracted to them by the plethora of female eye doctors, but am disgusted by their treatment and feel obligated to call them out on their shameful practices. read more

Just went in for an OCT exam and I would like a copy of my own record but the staffs refused to print the copy. I was told in order for me to have it, I'll have to get it on line. Plus they don't have a printer to print that copy. But when I started to make a scene, they finally printed me a copy. After I get home, they called and I was told that after today, it's a protocol if I requested a copy from now on it will cost $25 per copy. Wait a minute, you mean I'll have to pay extra for this black and white copy on top of what had just already paid ($80 copay visit). Give a me break. Do they made up their own rules or what? There is no way I recommend anyone to go there. You had just lost a client. I'll never go back to this place. Staffs there is rude and disrespectful to the patients, especially the front desk lady named Rosy. She should be retrain to respect other people. She shouldn't be in the customer service industry. The title is costumer service so if she doesn't fulfill that title, then get the %#*? Out!!! Bad vibes!!!! read more

The moment I checked In the staff was great, they called me promptly. The nurse was amazing and very knowledgeable she walked me through the process and helped me understand everything. The Doctor attended to me within 1 minute after nurse was done. He took the time to listen to my concerns and gave me answers and created a plan of action with follow up. This is my first time having to see an eye doctor. My medical conditions are very complex and the Doctor was extremely qualified and knowledgeable. I usually leave a medical office confused and with unanswered questions not here. The staff was amazing, I highly recommend to everyone, that does not come easy for me. To be honest everyone is great, but the reason why I'm giving a 1 star is because Dr. Grant. I had the worse experience with him. Do not recommend him to anyone. He was answering my concerns of my cataract surgery by saying "I dont know". He has no customer service what's so ever. Made me feel really uncomfortable after knowing he was the one that did my surgery. Stay away. Dont recommend him. read more

I was getting impatient waiting for a two week appt with another doctor and called acuity and they found me a spot within the next few days. Staff was great. Dr. Grant was so gentle with my son, spoke his language, made him comfortable and did a competent assessment utilizing different methods and techniques to see if all was okay. Let me give you some back story was referred to Dr. Grant after I changed jobs and of course Insurance. It took maybe a good 2 months to get an appointment for my son who had a lazy eye. 3 months later my son had Eye surgery to correct the lazy eye. Dr. Grant you are phenomenal and heaven sent. This Dr. Did what I waited over 4 years for another Doctor to do. He is efficient, professional, and courteous. I will forever be grateful . The great impact on my son's eyes, you did that. Went in for an eye exam today. Everyone was so pleasant and very helpful. Wait time was less than 15 minutes. Dr. Jennifer Lee is great. She came to waiting room to get me. Took me to the room (very rare for a doctor to do that). Explained everything and answered all my questions. The receptionist that checked me out was very nice ( too bad I didn't get her name). Everyone was nice and Dr. Lee was pleasant and seemed knowledgeable, but this was the slowest eye exam office I've ever been in. It took close to two hours for my initial scheduled eye exam (I figure this should be an hour tops)... it took almost another hour for the appointment to verify my contacts, with an appointment this should take little more than 15 mins, especially since I was one of the first ones after lunch... and then it took an hour to pick up my contacts they ordered in. An hour for pick-up!?!?! I'm going back to the Lenscrafters in Whittier where you at least have the option of shipping it to your house. read more

I had a cataract in my right eye and once the insurance and the referral finally came through we came here. The staff was friendly and professional, answered all of my questions and helped me through the entire process. I would recommend them to anyone who has eye issues. Dr. Jessica Boeckmann came in with friendly confidence and smile that made you feel she could take care of you... and she did. The operation was conducted at San Gabriel Ambulatory Surgery Center where the staff was courteous, friendly and competent and within two hours I was back outside with my cataract removed and seeing great! My husband and I have nothing but good things to say about Dr. Boeckmann and the people at Retina Institute of California. read more

I had a eight o'clock appointment, when I arrived there were at least a dozen or more people there, not enough room to fit in there waiting room. When they opened the door and we went to to sign up I asked how many Doctors were there. She said two, so I asked why so many people were scheduled? She said it would go fast, I didn't get out till 9:45. They herd you in like cattle, very cold. Doctor doesn't take time to to talk and say much of anything. So I asked what he would suggest to improve my condition. So he said to eat fish and greens and walked out. Frankly, I feel like they get as many people through as possible to make money but very poor service. I truly wondered if the 5 star ratings were legitimate. read more

I walked out midway through my appointment. I have high expectations for sanitary conditions in a health care environment and they seemed to be lacking here. Hand sanitizer bottles were empty, equipment was not cleaned before using it on patients (eye mask when completing initial vision exam intake and pressure guage), the waiting room was packed to capacity with people standing. After waiting one hour past my first of the day appointment I realized that doctors were double and triple booked and the was told that the wait would be much longer. There were at least two individuals in the waiting area who were obviously ill, one was sneezing and coughing and another was having difficulty remaining upright and his family was asking him what was wrong.
