This place is always busy. I came in because I was referred to the ophthalmologist by my rheumatologist. I have dry eyes naturally that maybe got worse after LASIK, but also, I'm on medication that may negatively affect the eyes, so I have to get routinely checked. I came in for Dr Jennifer Lee. She's amazing! She did my punctal plugs. Appointment was at 9:40, and I was out by 10:30 Super quick. Anesthesia eye drops. Quick plug insertion. Left eye kept sticking out and popped out completely. Came back the next day right when they opened. Quick and easy. They're always super nice and friendly even though they see tons of people everyday. Went to pick up daughter's glasses on Jan 6, 2025 was told at ordering time that hours are M-F 8am-4pm and they are closed from 12:00-1:00pm for lunch. Arrived at 8:00 greeted with a smirking Iris. She informs me that they don't come in until 8:30. I wouldn't be so disappointed if I didn't have the hours on the pick up receipt from their office with the office hours. Also this is now the second time their hours are not correct. When we came to select frames same thing. Iris could not tell me the person to speak too in regards to this constant issue. I really enjoyed coming to this location. I had 5 breaks in my retina that required surgery. Receptionists Iris and Paola were very courteous and extremely professional. My questions and concerns were answered in great detail. They clearly understand their assignments here. Dr Tarek Alasil, also answered my questions and concerns in great detail. He performed the surgery on my right eye and I really think that he has to be considered one of the best. I said to him that he must be a great person outside of his work because I believe he is an amazing doctor. He really seemed to take great pride in his work as he also displays an excellent bedside manner towards his patients (I could hear him speaking with other patients as well). I had previously had laser surgery for a retina tear (same eye) from another doctor prior to Dr Alasil preforming the vitrectomy surgery on my eye. His concern for my eye health was unmatched in my personal opinion. I'm really very happy that I ended up here to have the surgery. read more

Doctors seem friendly but staff and management seem incompetent. Customer service is completely lacking. They over book appointments, cancel appointments and don't seem to know what's going on in their own office. Also be prepared to wait. Very few times are they actually on time with your appointment. I can't imagine elderly patients dealing with this office. Luckily for my mom, my sisters and I dealt with the appointments and rebooting and rescheduling. It was my first visit for a routine eye exam & I was out within an hour. The staff covered all the bases with no lag time. Even when dealing with all the Co-Vid precautions, the team kept the different eye tests & time in between at a normal pace. Everyone was professional & friendly. Dr. Lee was as well. She was informative & easy to talk with. I saved a ton of time by filling out the paperwork they emailed to me in advance. Use to deal with provider that no longer there - Lee -was great. She was great - and office was good busy- but sadly she left - and that office's waiting room is a hot mess. I came twice - never seen a provider after a waiting an hour - than left stunned by the state of disorganization there. Was never spoken with.... i went to get my first pair of glasses, the process with the doctor was easy and she was wonderful. however the promise date for my glasses was October 10th. I've tried calling the office several times during open hours, but they is always someone else on the line, and when I try to leave my name and number in the voicemail box (as the automated answering machine directs me to do), I'm unable to because the voicemail-box is full! Only reason this place did not get a one star is the staff is extremely polite, warm and competent. As for the optomologist I was sent to Dr. Tarek Alasil here is my opinion. If you are looking for a doctor that will look you in the eye and ask what is your problem and here is what I am going to do to help.... then stay the hell away. This clown of a doctor walked to where I was waiting did not introduce himself , did not acknowledge himself to me or my daughter and went right to his computer. With his back turned to me he stated "unfortunately your eye is irreversible". Nice way to tell a patient that your eye is irreversible. I tried to tell him the problems I am having and the different treatments I have taken and he paid ZERO attention to anything I said. Then he said see me in two weeks and when walking out my daughter said why does he want to see you in two weeks when he offered no reason to come back??? Finally he stated he would send a prescription to my pharmacy which after 6 days he still has not done even after I repeatedly call his office. Nice job Doc. In closing this place is an assembly line of how many patients can they squeeze into in as little time as necessary. Its corporate America folks as they just do not care about their patients. Its all about the bottom line so I don't blame this doctor for that. My suggestion....STAY CLEAR OF THIS PLACE AND ESPECIALLY DR. ALASIL. HE WILL NOT REALLY CARE FOR YOU LIKE HE DIDN'T CARE FOR ME. PART 2: This doctor made me cry So the bump where I had gotten the steroid shot came back 3 months later. Same exact spot, same size, despite keeping up with the warm compress, hygiene and fish oil. It becomes stressful to keep getting something like that on your face. It wasn't getting any better so after 2 weeks I call to schedule an appointment. I tell the person on the phone I think I need another steroid shot because the chalazion came back. The soonest they could get me in was in another 2 weeks. My appointment was for 1pm on 5/26 and I didn't get seen by Dr. Grant until about 2:30pm. He comes in and asks what I am there for, so I tell him because the bump came back. He looks over the notes from the last visit and turns to me and says "Ok, so what do you want me to do?" I was caught off guard by this question because I am here to see the "specialist" about a reoccurring problem. Someone who last time told me it was incredible to him how people will wait until a chalazion is a big problem before they go see him. I told him he gave me a steroid shot last time which helped. He said it helped because the bump had been there for a long time and asked how long this one had been going on. I said 2 weeks, not realizing it was actually almost a month already. He said ok, but this is like a pimple, people get pimples and they often go away on their own, so I could also wait and see what it does or he could "cut it open," but it is too soon since it's only been there 2 wks. I said I don't know what the best choice is for me then. This is why I came to see him. He looked up at the ceiling and back down at me (an impatient gesture). I asked him if this was just a waste of time because he was speaking to me like this time I came to see him too soon. He shrugged his shoulders and said "it's not a waste of MY time, l'm here." I asked if he would be able to cut it open today and he said he'd have to check his schedule, but I should have told the person I scheduled with that I needed an appointment for a surgical procedure, not a routine visit. I told him I thought he was being rude because I am being told I should have done things differently and how was I supposed to know what to do when he is the specialist who should know what is best for my eye. I said I have followed all of your orders but it still came back. He said "part of that is on me because I see people with this same problem ALL THE TIME." He said his job was to educate me and empower me to make my own decision and said "so again, what do you want me to do?" | grabbed my purse and said "it's ok, nothing I guess." Dr. Grant said "good!" as he opened the door signaling for me to walk out. I said "no, it isn't good that I have to leave with no help. You are incredibly rude." At no point did I raise my voice at him. There were other patients and assistants in the waiting area and the ophthalmic assistant who checked me in was walking by at which point Dr. Grant told her to see me to the front desk and schedule me with another doctor for any other appointments going forward. I felt so humiliated, belittled, and disregarded. I said "yes, please schedule me with anyone else. He is completely rude." I have never been treated with such lack of courtesy and professionalism by a medical provider. Dr. Grant treated me like I was unworthy of respect or medical attention and he was dismissive in the way that he got up immediately to open the door for me to leave. What was his reason for telling the assistant, with other people around, to schedule me with another doctor going forward? He made it seem like I was a problematic patient. I could not help but cry uncontrollably in the lobby as the very kind person at the front desk apologized to me over and over and handed me tissue. She was very comforting and saw how terribly upset I was. I was shaking and so embarrassed in front of so many people waiting. If you have a chalazion, Dr. Grant will not try to help you because what he's basically saying is that he is tired of being referred patients with that issue when they should just have better hygiene. Avoid him at all costs if you don't want a very unpleasant experience. Management at this office need to have a conversation with him about the way he talks to and treats his patients with this particular issue. READ THE OTHER REVIEWS on people with chalazions. He treats them the same way. He doesn't want these cases and is handing us off to another doctor. We are ALL worthy of care regardless of what he thinks is worth his time or not. My husband had an appointment for 9:50. It's now almost 2 hrs later and they are just call him in. What's the use having appointment. If we were late they'd cancel. We go to the Torrance office usually and have never had this happen. At the Torrance office much more professional and know how to schedule and space out patients so this doesn't happen. My wife broke her glasses. I took them to location on Woodruff in Long Beach before Christmas. The receptionist told me I couldn't drop them off to be repaired because an optometrist had to be there on duty. All I wanted was to have the glasses repaired. The receptionist told me I could come back December 27th, and there would be someone there to handle my issue. What kind of business can't send glasses for repair without seeing an Optometrist? So... on the 27th I called. There was no answer on their automated phone system. I couldn't leave a message because their voicemail system was full. I finally got through to the switchboard and she was unable to get anyone to answer and was also unable to leave a message on my behalf. I decided to drive over there because I couldn't get through to them on the phone. The receptionist told me that I couldn't drop the glasses off to be repaired. She said that there was no one there that could do it. She said I could call them after the New Year. I explained that I couldn't get through to them using the automated phone service and that I was unable to leave a message because their voicemail was full. I really have a problem believing that no one can send glasses to the manufacturer to have them fixed without an optometrist being present. The temple had broken, it didn't require an eye exam. I'm really upset that you have such poor customer service and also that your phone system doesn't work properly. read more

Not a very professional office most staff are extremely hurried and rude. They treat the patients like cattle. Was told I needed surgery and was told I would be contacted by someone in scheduling. Weeks went by and no call so I called them. They said the person that did the scheduling was not around but they could see what surgery times were available. I said whatever was available the soonest. I was then told my tentative surgery date would be three months out and I would be contacted for details at a later date. Well that was months ago and no call or email. Not a good way to follow up on someone's health when it involves whether they will be able to see or not. Service was very good. The problem was the strong food smell coming as there was restaurant in same building. I am the patient of Asthma the restaurant smell triggered me my breathing a lot. Lot of sick people visits there and I believe those thing that triggers patient health should not be allowed in same building or the restaurant should operate without bothering other people health. read more

This office has poor customer service. The staff does not even introduce themselves. Dr Alasil did not even introduce himself when my dad met him for the first time. Of course, I'm the daughter, I had to ask him who he was. Then the second appt for my dad, he did not even tell us anything about his left eye. Where I was told an hour and 20 minutes behind schedule. Every seat full and hot. How id the acceptable. They could've at least called and told me they were running behind schedule. But they only called to get my update insurance but forgot to mention Dr. running behind. First time visit, from the minute I walked thru the door. I received a warm welcome, the office was clean and comfortable. My appointment was 2pm, I was called in a free minutes later. The assistant got me started, on my appointment and answer several questions I had regarding my eyes and glasses. Then after given a customer ahead of me help with her mother's prescription. Doctor J Lee provided Excellent help with my eye care. We talk her schooling and visit to Boston. She's a fantastic doctor and person. Matter of fact the whole staff there is Great! I think I only came across 2 workers who I adore because they really care for the patients. Everyone else needs to find another job that fits their stinky personality. Worst customer service ever. EVER!!!! This place is run by a staff that sit on their cell phones and do not help you at all. It's a shame I can't change but this is the only place I can go to for now. THREE times I showed up for an appointment even after it was confirmed BY THEIR STAFF, and when I get there they tell me "we don't have an appointment for you" and send me home. Ridiculous. I have called there for help with my eye glasses and they put me on hold for so long that I have to hang up and call back. Bottom line, this place is horrid. I tell you, do not go. It's a place you would think is run by the county but we all have great insurance. I remember being there on another occasion and they made a patient wait so long, he got up and asked why am I waiting here so long and everyone is going before me? The girl told him, did you fill out the paperwork? He said no one gave me anything to fill out!!! She THEN handed him a clipboard and said well fill THIS out. She gave it to him with no apology or anyrhing!!!!! It was disgusting. Bottom line ALL the staff here hate people. They have lousy attitudes and literally hate helping anyone. You can sit for hours and hours with no help. The doctors are pretty good though, but because of the poor sour staff, it doesn't matter what doctors are there.
