Delicious ice cream. They offer a variety of flavor, mostly standard and usually 4 or 5 seasonal flavors. They make their own waffle cones and of course the scent fills up the block and draws in the crowds. I took one star away for a few reasons- it is always crowded and there is a very small indoor space to stand and order. They also don't have any indoor seating. You enter after being greeted by a large cow and then It feels like you are being herded like one. The second reason, and maybe I'm just being nit picky is they don't sell soft serve ice cream. Lastly, there are no descriptions or pictures of the flavors, so when ordering something called purple cow or the cape codder you have to ask for descriptions. When there's 10 people behind you, you just don't want to be that person. Overall, a delicious product but the experience could be slightly improved. read more

My wife and I stumbled upon this place on our vacation from Los Angeles. We do not have anything like this back home. It's all fat free yogurt shops and ice creme chain-restaurant style shops...i.e. Baskin Robbins You guys are soooooo lucky to have a home-made ice creme shop right in your own backyard. We both pigged out on the large waffle cones which came with two big scoops of ice creme. The girls working the counter were great. Super friendly and nice. Two thumbs up! read more

There is a Summer Acushnet Creamery In downtown New Bedford, Ma Pier 3 customers service was fine but the price is way to expensive for 2 hot dogs bag of 50cent chips and a 1$ soda for 7$ and the hot dog bread was soggy & the chili and cheese was just horrible the hotdogs have no taste because there sitting there on the steam roller for 7hrs before someone buys one like what the hell kind of price is this especially on the docks of dirty New Bedford The store that was here before Acushnet creamery was way better hotdogs bag of chips and a soda was $4.50 and the customer service was excellent the hotdogs were sold on time and not overcooked so I recommend that one than this one Dele's lemonade is what used to be there. read more

I love this place. The waffle cones are made fresh and the ice cream is homemade. A very busy place. So be prepared to stand in line.

Went for the first time this past weekend. The building seems new, the staff were pleasant, and covered outdoor seating nearby and picnic tables further toward the street were provided. The parking lot seemed fairly large and many spaces were available as I went during supper time. As for the product I sampled two different flavors of cranberry ice cream, one which was cranberry harvest while the other the name escapes me. Both were cranberry based ice cream and offered sweet died cranberries in the mix. While one had walnuts and chocolate chips the other had apples and granola in the mix. I ordered one of each scoop in a large waffle cone. The price was right for such huge scoops. As for the taste each had ample ingredients but concerning the chocolate chip I did prefer a similar recipe I get at a stand closer to home. The other flavor with the granola was unique but not sweet enough for me. I'm not from this area but if I went back I would a different flavor. While I was not wowed by my choices I found many things to like about this place. read more

Acushnet Creamery's ice cream is, quite simply, as good as ice cream gets!!! I've tested ice cream all over the world and while a few places (none in this area) had some great ice cream, nothing even comes close to AC's. My personal favorite is Pistachio Nut but their Blueberry Chip frozen yogurt also gets very high marks from my girlfriend. I CANNOT wait for March to get here and the re-opening of Acushnet Creamery. read more

I came to SE Massachusetts for law school, and I'm staying for Acushnet Creamery.

Visiting New Bedford for the weekend from Canada and this was a must have on my list of places to go. Discovered Acushnets creamery last June on vacation and would recommend to anyone within a 30-45 min radius. The smell of freshly made waffle cones when you first walk in the door is totally worth the drive. Best ice cream ever!!! Service is great and all at staff are very knowledgable.
