The ice cream barn never disappoints. There is often a very long line, but it is worth the wait. They are incredibly efficient even when the line is wrapped around the building. The staff is always super nice. The waffle cones are made fresh in front of you and are so delicious. There are lots of great flavors but the Reese's Heath bar specialty flavor is my favorite. They used to have several dairy free options but those have been off the menu recently so definitely check before waiting in line if that's what you're looking for. read more

Stopped in for a quick dessert night with the family. Even on a Tuesday night late in the season it was still packed with a line out the door. It loved fast and everyone worked efficiently to keep ot moving. They had a great selection of creative flavors (and gave you samples of any you wanted to try prior to ordering). This place is heaven. Truly. I think it might be the best ice cream I've ever had in my life and that's saying a lot as I'm quite the ice cream connoisseur. They have a huge variety of different flavors including seasonal flavors, frozen yogurt, sugar free and dairy free. Everything I've had is delicious but my go to order is lemon blueberry frozen yogurt and apple crisp ice cream. The lemon blueberry yogurt is sweet, soft and zingy, packed with tons of fresh blueberries. The apple crisp has slices of apple and bits of crisp scattered in a creamy vanilla base. All the ice cream tastes amazingly fresh and it's made with milk from local cows. They also make their own waffle cones and bowels. Another cool feature is that the shop is solar powered (check out all the panels on the roof) and everything they give you is compostable. So you can feel virtuous while you eat a huge scoop of ice cream. Staff is friendly and efficient, even when there is a big line it moves quickly. My order came out wrong they told me they would remake it, i ordered a waffle bowl large sunday, they gave me a small cone at first then a sunday in a cup, all this after reading my receipt looking me in my eyes and told me what they were making me, which was what i ordered and i agreed.. few seconds later they completely made me the wrong thing again!!!! Ice Cream Barn is undoubtedly the best place to stop for a sweet treat during the summer--and honestly, it's a year-round kind of place for ice cream lovers! Since moving to Providence, we've discovered a plethora of fantastic ice cream shops, but we always make a point to visit Ice Cream Barn with the kids. The only thing I don't like about this place is the outdoor seating area. Currently, they only offer a few wooden benches, which could use a good clean up, as they often get messy with old ice cream and sprinkles. A bit more decoration or comfortable seating would enhance the experience for customers. Today, I had the blueberry cheesecake ice cream from their special menu, and it was absolutely delicious! Friendly staff (they're very fast too, not usually the case with ice cream parlors) love the barn itself and the waffle cone smell which greets you when you pull up. There are tons of outdoor seats and open space for kids to run, drop their ice cream, and even see actual cows. Cannot recommend this place enough. Choc peanut butter was v chocolatey with the perfect texture. Tried a waffle cone and it was also perfectly crisp, thick and smacked of vanilla. Happened to taste my toddlers strawberry ice cream, which I'd usually not care about, but in the best way possible it tasted like puréed strawberries and cream and I could've eaten the whole cone it was so good. OK, confirmed. This *IS* our favorite ice cream place in America. We literally planned our northeast trip itinerary to include The Ice Cream Barn in it, and we are so glad we did. This place is pure magic. We came the day after Thanksgiving, when it was freezing, around lunch, and we were not alone. We were excited to see more of their fall/winter flavors, and one of us went with their "Charles Dickens" (essentially like a fruit cake, but tastes so much better than it sounds!) and their pumpkin oreo, which wasn't her favorite but it was still very good. Love the Thanksgiving sprinkles option! (The only issue is that if the ice cream is really hard, and if it's really packed into the cup, then the sprinkles go everywhere.) Our daughter got the chocolate oreo brownie in one of their freshly-made waffle cones, and she shockingly ate almost the whole thing. SO good! There was also a banana peanut butter cup order along with peanut butter heath bar. What can we say other than what we said before?--everything is creeeeammmmmy and tastes so....clean and wonderful. It's the odd hallucination of feeling like the ice cream you're eating is healthy! We also want to shout out the staff who are beyond patient. We were those annoying people who sampled a few options (one of us even mid-ordering, so embarrassing!) and the young lady working was still friendly and hospitable. Does the ice cream make them so sweet or does this place just attract the best people? It's probably reciprocal! Anyway, we will always be sure to come back here anytime that we are in the area. You have to eat in your car in the winter months because it's too cold to be outside (no indoor seating), and we noticed that there were two cars next to us on either side with single drivers with out-of-state plates (like us) happily munching away on their goodies. Food: really creamy ice-cream that intensely incorporates each of the flavors. we ordered the strawberry and 'banana & peanut butter cup' flavors. strawberry was light and refreshing. banana-pb was super creamy with large peanut butter chunks to add a satisfying bite. also, they serve HUGE portions so even though its good prices, would recommend not being too over ambitious with the sizing! Service/logistics: usually a long line, but moves very fast. Ample parking at front and back of the shop. After about 10 years, this is still my favorite ice cream place in the world. My son is anaphylactic to peanuts and treenuts and has been safely eating this ice cream for years. It's a small family owned company that pays great attention and care to food allergies. There aren't many ice cream shops that can say this. I will support this business until I die or they close (I truly hope I die first- I'll cry the day they close). Now let's talk about the ice cream. There is literally something for everyone. My favorite will forever be the no sugar added cinnamon with a scoop of apple pie ice cream. My son likes the cookie dough and strawberry best. The waffle cones are made fresh and fat kid heaven. A small will cost about 6.50 but it is not small. It's a packed cone. Prices are very reasonable. You can also purchase online and specify allergies. A pint is $7 and a half gallon $13. Their flavors aren't strong enough, the only flavor that I like from them is the coffee milk and the mint. Their chocolate ice cream is not chocolatey enough! I don't like their cups as the heat from my hands melt their expensive ice cream and makes a mess! The prices are definitely too much for their portions and they used to have really big portions and the price was fine but I notice they give less now. Their trashes need to be cleaned up more often bc they are always overflowing and trash ends up all over the place. Also in the summer it attracts a lot of bees so in their dirty field full of geese and dog poop you have to sit on tiny logs in no shade getting attacked by bees while your ice cream melts. This place is considered one of the best but what are they comparing it to bc this place is kinda disappointing! This place closes for the season today and I'm upset. My go-to for all things ice cream. Everything is handmade and I love the map on the wall that shows which local farms all of the ingredients come from. In the summer there is often a line around the building, but I promise you it's worth it. My favorite flavors are unfortunately seasonal flavors so I'm not always able to get them. They are key lime pie, Nutella, and chocolate peppermint (not to be confused with mint chocolate chip, which they always have). The four berry vanilla frozen yogurt is also amazing, which is saying something because I'm a chocolate girl at heart. The lemon blueberry yogurt is also fantastic. The ICB is the best in the area because all the ingredients used to make the ice cream are fresh or locally sourced. You can genuinely tell the difference between this and something more like Friendly's or Ben&Jerry's. Don't get me wrong I like those, but you can really taste the quality difference. Everyone there is so friendly, I always have a pleasant experience with the staff. They are usually mobbed on the weekends (like, line out the door!!), but they amazingly almost always keep the line moving pretty quickly! I used to work here and the owners Tom & Jocelyn are the sweetest people ever. If I was ever having a hard time they were so understanding. They really treat all their employees like family. The area is really nice, my favorite part is that it is surrounded by cows, who love to eat waffle cones. The ICB is also are very environmentally friendly, they use solar panels and biodegradable materials (cups, spoons, etc.) I love the ICB so much. It's my go-to spot for a sweet treat.
