Ice cream addict here.... My new favorite is half coffee Oreo and half black raspberry Oreo (aka Purple Cow)... love these flavors together and Dockside served the good stuff. I do wish my bowl was filled a little more. Part of the fun of ordering ice cream is when they hand you the cup (or cone) and it's overflowing. Nice outdoor seating. We went around 8:30 on a Monday night and there was no wait to order. Here's a tip: BYOS- bring your own spoon. Of course they give you a spoon, but it's so flimsy and bendy, I couldn't dig into the ice cream. This isn't anything against Dockside-- it seems the last few places I've been are also saving money by going with very cheap spoons. read more

This is an awesome ice cream shop that serves Acushnet Creamery ice cream. It's quality I've cream that has many flavor options. Staff is friendly and quick, and allergy conscious. They also take cards! Definitely a great summer spot to grab a scoop and maybe if you time it right watch the bridge move! Highly recommend. read more

I have had many good experiences with this place. First the staff wears gloves, so that is a plus in my book. Have a pretty good variety of flavors, including sugar free and frozen yogurt. I was going to give dockside two stars, but I think that it would be misleading to do so. It really wasn't that bad, I just wasn't impressed. My mother got a peanut butter cup sundae, and I got a plain ol' chocolate chip scoop on a sugar cone. The ice cream itself was really good, the consistency being nice and it was flavorful. BUT, the chocolate chips that they use were actual chocolate chips that you would find at the store for making cookies, so they were huge and I think overall they detracted from what would have been a really good scoop of ice cream. You really had to chew the chips so I felt like I was eating a meal rather than a scoop of ice cream. If that doesn't bother you, than have at it. Also, the cone was slightly stale. read more

Sure, there are things that bug me sometimes here. The ordering window is weird to approach from the parking lot, but it's the only way to control the line. The waiting area is cluttered with seating, but at least they offer some. They're a seasonal ice cream shop so they have to employ teens. I was a teenager, I get it, I'd be so bored with me too. But aside from driving to the source (Acushnet Creamery; more lines, less tables, more teens), this is best ice cream around. Waffle cones are never stale, and always the best choice. Coffee Oreo is an all star, and they do the traditional flavors better than most (psst-butter crunch). Plus you can't beat the view (maybe at Gulf Hill...but that damn causeway...). Take your cone down to the dock, check out some of the dinghies and yachts, take in the sunset over Apponagansett Bay, and reflect on how much of your soul you'd have to sell to afford property in Padanaram. read more

We love Dockside! Dartmouth is loaded with great ice cream spots and this is definitely one of them! While Salvador's Ice Cream is hard to beat with its spacious farm side location, I prefer Dockside's ice cream (Acushnet Creamery) and the setting in Padanaram Village right on the harbor (ocean air, fisherman on the bridge, and beautiful sailboats everywhere) is an idyllic summertime destination!! You can always count on friendly conversations with other customers. Hard ice cream, not soft serve. Kind of in a weird location, off the road by the village side of the bridge. Good milkshakes. The ice cream is awesome! The only think I wasn't impressed with was the way it looks. The outside needs to be cleaned up. The picnic table is all cracked and broken and there is trash all on the ground and overly sized bushes that definitely need a trim. The place is really small so making sure the area is clean would be highly recommended. But like I said its worth the trip for the ice cream!! read more
