My husband and I stopped in for a Breakfast Burrito on Sunday to hold us over until lunch. We ordered the Steak and Egg Burrito - it was fine, nothing special. I actually prefer their Chorizo Breakfast Burrito much more even though it tends to be a bit greasy. We placed our order at the drive-thru so I can't comment on the ambiance and staff were pretty friendly at the window - our food came out quickly too, but still piping hot. Is it the best Mexican food? No, but it will do in a pinch! It's Mexican fast food even though if I'm being honest, I prefer Taco Bell or Del Taco over Aldalberto's. I used to love coming to a different location to get their Rolled Tacos and their green salsa is also pretty decent. We'll probably be back next time we are in the area, but going with Chorizo next time! Check them out! read more

Adalbertos in Carmichael (at Marconi & Walnut) has become one of our family's favorite spots! Since the new management took over, the food has been absolutely delicious. The new combinations are creative, always fresh, and served promptly. The staff is genuinely friendly and welcoming -- you can tell they're happy to see you, which makes every visit feel special. The location is always spotless, which adds to the overall great experience. Unsure if this is the resturant at Madison and Dewey? States it is open 24 hours. I work at the nearby hospital. In the past they were open at 5-6 am when i went to work. Now at this time they have the dumpster across the drive thru. When I did get past the dumpster to the window, was told they were changing the grease and would be up in about an hour. Ordered 3 burritos thru Ubereats, didn't receive ANY salsa at all. They're usually good about including red and green salsa, they're just stingy with how many they send do I specifically wrote it in the notes and didn't receive any for THREE burritos! It makes you realize how below average the burritos are without the salsa. The breakfast burritos felt like they had day old potatoes and lacked bacon and egg. You can never go wrong with Adalberto's. It was Friday night and I didn't want to cook dinner. Lol, so drive thru it is! A great alternative to the classic drive thru's (ie. Taco Bell, McDonalds, etc.). I was the only person in the drive line and I was quickly helped. The young lady taking my order was super soft spoken and maybe not the best fit for taking orders. It was really hard to hear her. At the window, the same young lady looked like she hated her job. Not super friendly and she looked bored out of her mind. However, she was accommodating. I asked for lots of hot sauce and chips and sure enough I got it. This was a great change since I've been to order Adalberto's and they're super skimpy. I had their CA burrito and my boyfriend had their Carne Asada Super burrito. Both were bomb.com; the tortilla was jam packed with meat and toppings! Only complaint was the meat was super dry, but good thing we got lots of salsa. I'm sure I'll be back on lazy dinner nights! read more

If someone gives this place anything but a five star review, they have not tried the chicken chimichanga! We have been going to Adalberto's for many, many years and the chicken chimichanga is consistently fabulous! Lots of guacamole and sour cream to go with it. I will probably regret saying this, but at $10 this chimichanga feeds two people, it is the Best Buy in town! Now I will go back and the price will be higher. The beef taco's shell was burnt to a crisp but what was really awful was the meat - old, old, old. The enchilada was cold. Beans and rice were ok. I have gotten food here before and it was ok but the last time the enchilada was cold as ice and the order for the tamale was wrong. I for one won't get food from here again. And just like that within a Reasonable fraction of my days time I received my order I took a look within the contents of the bag and realized everything had been accounted for two green sauces and two red sauces. I didn't even have to ask for anything I noticed to look into the back to see the cook doing his best to create such a marvelous piece of meat and potatoes. Love the chicken taco platter, Carnitas taco, Carnitas burrito and I'm sure there are more delicious options but those are the only ones we've tried. You can't beat Adalberto's a great meal or snack. I've never had a bad experience here, food is consistently good. We normally just pick up our meal and take it home. However I had lunch with a good friend yesterday and we decided to eat inside. I have been to this particular location on several occasions. I always go through the drive-thru and pick up food for me and my wife. Tonight I ordered a chicken taco plate number 9 with beans and rice and the Carnitas plate with flour tortillas. The servings of food are always generous I can never finish the meal in one sitting and wind up having some delicious leftovers for a snack later. As I look inside the facility I can see how clean and organized it is. They are following covid-19 restrictions very well. All of the servers are wearing masks. The only part that I was bummed about was that they stem of the chile was in the burrito- like they didnt cut that piece off and only cut along the pepper to stuff it with cheese. Their existence is a hate crime against Mexican cuisine. However, what they have done is identify a way people will pay for salt and Cisco condiments at all hours. Based on taste I would guess the burritos are about 65% salt. I inquired about what was in the chicken burrito, and was told chicken. Nothing else. I ordered a super. Took a bite, and was shocked at the amount of sour cream. It was like if someone had emptied a tube sour cream into a tortilla and then thrown in a teaspoon of beans and rice. Wtf is this I asked the employee, it is like 90% sour cream. "I know it's good right" he said happily. The old adage that there is no accounting for taste really applies in here, because there are innumerable copycat restaurants around adalbertos. This is certainly true for the glorious splat that burrito made when I threw it at the wall, all that sour cream really stuck tot he paint. Also, the canned coke and bottled corona isn't that bad. Definitely not as bad as apple fritters in San Mateo. That place is the worst. read more

We have tried several Adalberto's and thought this location is better than most. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito and it was stuffed with meat and guacamole. He devoured about half of it before he got full. I ordered the chili relleno burrito. I could actually taste the relleno throughout the burrito. Do not get a shrimp tostada from here if you are used to the traditional tostada shell with mayonnaise, shrimp, ceviche, maybe some avocado maybe some lime. I love Adalberto's. For a Sacramento Waldorf student, it was the perfect lunch time fix of greasy goodness, completely antithetical to the biodynamic standards the Waldorf community usually stands for. Something about eating a California burrito with french fries jammed inside of it in the shadow of Rudolf Steiner is so, so beautiful. But I digress. My standby here are the carnitas tacos ($2.25 each) with added guacamole (.85 cents). I don't know how this little drive through does it, but the tacos are fantastic, full of that good fried fat that a worthwhile carnita should contain. Add on the pico de gallo and the chunky and butter guacamole, and you've entered Mexican fast food nirvana. Oh, and did I mention those things are huge? They are huge. I've tried just about everything on the menu here at least once. The rolled chicken taquitos ($2.50 with guac) are deep-fried quickly and served doused with guacamole and cheese - amazing, if a little bit too crunchy. They're wonderful dipped in the spicy and sharp house verde salsa. The nachos are standard issue, but you can get meat on them, and that kick-ass guacamole redeems any failings they might have. The fish taco ($1.85) is weird and kind of underwhelming - your standard deep fried Chunk O' Cod with some bizarre pink tartar sauce on top. Skip it. Burritos are wonderful and evil, although note that if you order a chicken burrito, that's all you're getting - meat and nothing else. Make sure to order it with, you know, other stuff. The California burrito ($3.20) features carne asada, french fries, pico de gallo, and a bunch of melted cheese and is definitely up there on any possible list of Most Awesome Hangover Food. I've also been known to order a veggie burrito here if I don't feel like over-stressing my arteries, although this makes me feel vaguely dirty. These feature rice, beans, cheese, lettuce and tomato and sour cream, though I usually ask them to leave it off. Adalberto's is a wonderful temple of dirty, dirty Mexican fast food. It is one of the many reasons why California is so wonderful. read more
