Moved to Sac 2019. Been looking for authentic homestyle mexican restaurant. Found this hole in the wall and its fantastic. Passed the bean test! Chile rellenos perfectly battered! Enchiladas well balance cheese n chicken, not saturated with sauce n chz. Chicken was tender. Chorizo was good with eggs. Extra stars for handmade flour tortillas! Well, How do I start....? First off. I'm not a food expert but, I have and do visit quite a few establishments. My first warning was when I drove up and saw the outside appearance. I thought about turning around and leaving. I was talked into giving a chance. "Can't judge a book by its cover" We walked in and the inside decor matched the outside. The inside had not had any attention for many years. Again, I was talked into at least trying the food. We were the only costumes at the time and were not greeted by anyone and we had to sit ourselves down. That's fine that she asked but, we had no menus ‍. We got the menus and were immediately ask what we wanted WTH? We asked for a few mins to look at the menu and 3-4 mins later she asked if we were ready to order. We still haven't received our soft drinks. We asked for our drinks and to come back for our orders. She came back with our drinks but she brought back water not the soft drinks that we requested. At this point dint even say anything. We ordered our food which was difficult due to the language barrier. A co-worker recommended this place. He said it was his favorite restaurant. We came here for lunch. He ordered a carnitas quesadilla lunch plate and I had a carnitas street taco and chicken enchilada lunch plate. It was delicious! The carnitas was not dry. The chicken enchilada was tasty. The rice was fluffy and the refried beans was good too. The lunch plates came with their homemade flour tortilla as a choice. I didn't get to try it as I was so full. SO extremely disappointed in our lunch today. Ordered (3) meals to go: 1. Taco Salad had chucky beef but I ordered ground beef 2. Tostada had sour cream all over it, yet the description does not mention this and I can't eat sour cream so I couldn't eat the meal 3. Chips were only enough for the 1/2 order of bean dip and not enough for the 3 meals and the salsa were (3) tiny containers not enough for 2 chips total. The service was horrible! The food was horrible. We went for lunch and I got the chile relleno plate. Basic and had barely any red sauce with the relleno. The little sauce that was there was basically burnt to the plate. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito and it literally came out with just asada in a tortilla with a side of rice and beans. We ordered one of their pupusas and there was hardly anything inside. We got their shrimp cocktail and the sauce was thick and had a weird flavor. Needless to say, first time and only time!! Giving it 2 stars because we got all that food and it was only $35 and customer service was good. What happened to the service at Brianna's? Went for lunch on a Friday with my wife and when we arrived only one other table was occupied. Our server brought us menus, chips and salsa. Shortly after, a group of six came in and placed to-go orders. Since our server was the only wait staff available, she made us wait to place our order until AFTER she had taken the to-go orders of the six people who walked in AFTER us. So, these six people got their to-go food before we dine-ins got ours. Not cool. Others came in to order take-out or pick-up phoned in orders, and each time the server gave priority to those people. No knock on take-out business, but add staff to keep the dine-in service prompt and efficient while other staff handle the to-go side of the business. What a nice surprise! We live in the area which, by and large, is a culinary black hole, but Brianna's did not disappoint. The food was authentic, tasty, and reasonably priced. The homemade tortillas were awesome! It's a hole in the wall, for sure, but it really felt like a family run joint -- the service was friendly (even when we came to eat 15 minutes before closing) and the pictures of (who I assume are) the owner's kids on the wall made us smile. I went here during my lunch. I was craving Mexican food, so I based my decision on Yelp (as usual). They had lunch specials for $4-$6, can't beat that! I decided on the Chimichanga ($6). It was served with beans and Spanish rice, topped with sour cream. Chips & salsa is included in every order for free. I looked through the Yelp photos and the dish came with two Chimichangas, but when I ordered, it came as one big Chimichanga. The Chimichanga had a nice crunch on the edges, but soft in the middle. It was so fresh and hot. I chose pork as the meat in my Chimichanga and it would just tear off each other as you chew it in your mouth. Chicken enchilada and chicken taco with all Spanish rice. When I received it, it looked very appeasing. I was ready to delve in. Save your money!! My husband and I went to Brianna's last night for dinner and it was just awful. To start off with the tortilla chips were stale and most were just small broken chips. They looked like the chips that were left over from another diner. The guacamole was ice cold and tasted like lime juice. No hint of guacamole at all. We were the only table in the whole restaurant and it took about 20 minutes or more to get our dinners. Both of our dinners were barely even warm. I've gone to Brianna's twice during my lunch break now and the final verdict is 3.5 stars. The first time, I ordered a chimichanga and it came with rice, beans, lettuce, guac and sour cream. I remember thinking it wasn't anything phenomenal but pretty decent for what it is. This time, I had an entertainment book coupon for BOGO so my coworkers ordered their beef fajita plate and I opted for a chicken taco salad. I ordered a peach margarita for only $3 to enjoy while I waited for my togo food and it was pretty weak but I can't complain because that's pretty much the price of a regular drink and the margarita was decently sized. My chicken taco salad was smaller than I'm used to, I was surprised to find that it fit in a larger styrofoam togo box! They didn't fill it up to the top with ingredients but that would have been too much anyway. I forgot to tell them no beans so there were a lot of beans and not enough chicken. However, the shredded chicken was delicious and the tomatoes, lettuce, etc. were fresh so the taco salad was a winner. Our orders came with complimentary chips and salsa and I had to pour the salsa on my salad to give it a little more flavor, though. The reason I round up is because prices are so decent. They also offer $1 ground beef tacos after 2pm, lunch specials at about $6.50, offer free wifi, have lots of seating and great, great customer service. I will definitely be coming here instead of Adalberto's when I'm craving Mexican or need a margarita but only because I work nearby. Next time, though, I'll ask if I can pay more for a little more liquor! read more

Four stars. I would have given it five stars but as others have noted, the salsa isn't that great. I'll echo what another reviewer said, this place is superior to other similarly-priced options and you certainly get more than your money's worth at Brianna's. If you sit down for lunch and get: 1) Great service 2) Good food 3) Quickly AND 4) Pay less than $10, you should be more than happy with the experience imho. I've been to countless restaurants for lunch (esp. in this area) and have been significantly let down with even the basic requirements (e.g. service, relative quality and price). This place is fantastic for lunch and I highly recommend it. I had the carnitas and a drink and I think it was about $8.00. They have lunch plates under $5. My friend got a big steak taco and his lunch was literally $6 with a tip. Chips and salsa are free. If you think their salsa is a little bland I would suggest asking them for their "hot" stuff. It comes in a plastic ketchup bottle which, although kind of odd, serves its purpose well. The "hot" salsa takes it up a couple scoville units while remaining flavorful--it adds character without overpowering the meal. This place isn't about being fancy. It's also NOT about skimping on quality like the ubiquitous taqueria, with their only-good-while-piss-drunk-watery-mystery-meat concoctions wrapped in a doughy tortilla. The carnitas are my second favorite, then the carne asada and (cube) beef. My girlfriend said the fajitas were pretty good as well. I usually order the chimichangas dinner. Its $10.50 but after the coupon it makes it like $7. Regardless its worth either price because its 2 big crispy chimichangas filled with meat. I can sometimes only eat half of one and eat the other halves over the next few days. That's less than $2 a meal if you can resist being a pig and eating a whole one or worse! The lady that helps is always nice, even when she asks us for our coupon before she writes the check. Dim lights, a little run down, one person working, and bad reception on the tv and radio always make me feel more at home and comfortable in a mexican restaurant so if you are used to shine and polish, don't be turned off by the inside. The kitchen got multiple orders wrong, my Latino coworker even asked in Spanish for green sauce on top of and refried beans in his burrito - got red sauce and whole beans. I'm all about chile verde, so I ordered a chile verde burrito....and I'm not sure it was really a burrito. The waitress said it was, but the ends were exposed and there was nothing but meat inside. And the meat - disappointing. The primary taste I got was black pepper, but there was literally no heat at all. It was weird. I am perpetually on the quest for good Mexican food in Sacramento. It's so hard to come by! I had the chicken chimichanga, which was HUGE (definitely splittable). It was well cooked, chicken was tender, and the tortilla was awesome. The day we went, the salsa was pretty spicy and really addictive. I didn't really like the chips that much, but hey when the salsa's that good, it helps make up for it. My friend had the carnitas and was craving them again before we even left the restaurant.
