Dr. Braga's skills and expertise are top-notch. His ethical standards of care are impeccable. Over my three years of seeing him, I experienced two big gum graft surgeries with him. The surgeries were successful and with minimal pain. He called me afterwards each time to make sure recovery was okay. In the lead up to the surgeries, he explained all the pros and cons of various options to me. He happily answered questions and went above and beyond to educate me, the patient. For example, when explaining the choice between using cadaver tissue vs. my own, he brought out slides to show me the difference. He told me not just "do this" but gave probabilities and statistics. His style is 'show vs tell' and I appreciate that as a patient. It comes down to the fact that he loves his field, and he is a good person. You get the sense that he really loves his profession and solving problems for patients. Finally and just as important, the office's hygienist Carmela is outstanding. My recession prone gums means gum grafting surgery is required for me every few years. Not fun, and could be described as experiencing the Marathon Man dentist scene on continuous loop. Who wants to go through that kind of torture and agony? Not me. Which was why I have been returning to Dr. Russo's office on and off since 2011. Dr. Russo and his associates are very skilled surgeons, and I've never felt like Dustin Hoffman succumbing to the attacks of Sir Laurence Olivier when I go here. Note: Despite Dr. Russo's skill as a surgeon, each time I go in there, he acts like it's the first time he's seeing me. Okay. I get that it's a busy office, but before walking into the examining room, glance at the patient's chart first. Takes a few moments. You're always running late anyway; what's another minute? My last surgery was performed by his associate, because Dr. Russo was booked for several months. No big deal. I was certain that the surgery would go smoothly, and it did. After healing, though, my gums were up to their old tricks, and will need a repeat session to tidy things up a little bit more. That means repeat business for this office, and we all love repeat business from loyal customers, right? Not so sure here. Yesterday, the associate had taken the day off. My appointment was switched to Dr. Russo, and probably due to being short staffed, my time spent in the waiting room was 40 minutes. It was another 15 minute wait in the examining room. Dr. Russo walked in, and again introduced himself like it was the first time we met. He mentioned one of my current issues, like that was all he knew about me. I pointed out that he had performed several procedures on me already, but he brushed that aside, saying he'd have to go back and review the notes. Why didn't he take a quick glance through my thick chart to see that I had a very long history with his office? Does it not matter to him that I've been a loyal patient of his for over a decade? It made me feel insignificant. Like I was just a number to him. He seemed annoyed as he impatiently poked around my mouth, treating it like a lifeless lab specimen. Hello. I am a person under your sharp, probing instruments. My gums are awful. Please be gentle and have a little compassion here, will ya? As a repeat customer it was my intention to be a lifelong patient, but I feel like I'm nothing more than a throw pillow on the examining chair. My rotten gums mean more money for you to fund your expensive trips around the world. Why are you not seeing that my oral condition is money in the bank for you? Shouldn't you be looking a gift horse in the mouth, instead of treating the person with the horse mouth as an inconvenience? My horse's mouth is going elsewhere to another practice that is willing to treat me like I'm more than a throw pillow.

As soon as I got to the front desk I literally burst into tears :') I was immediately greeted by the warmest tone and care from the wonderful team member working at reception. She helped me to feel at ease and stop crying. She even offered that I could come back at another time, but I knew I really had to get through this fear today and stick with the appointment. I was totally losing it from anxiety and fear of something being wrong since in haven't been to the dentist in almost 2 years. They were so gentle and caring in taking my medical history and really listening my needs. I was experiencing physical symptoms of my anxiety heavily and at every moment I was asked if I was okay or needed a break. It is such a relief to find a new dentist I immediately trusted and felt safe with! I have to go back soon because my teeth need a little tlc after this time away from the chair, but I already know next time will be filled with so much less fear because the care I received today. I'm so appreciative of the help I had when I checked in, for x-rays, and the cleaning itself. Every team member really checked in with me about my issues. Dr. Cellars was apologetic on the phone and numerous times I've attempted to resolve the issues with his office to no avail. I'll be going to small claims courts to try to recoup some costs for his mess-up and subsequent fix.
