We ended a summer weekend in Gettysburg with a stop here. It came recommended by some family and friends. My husband and I each ordered a wine flight and shared with each other. They had a great selection and something for everyone, and the staff were very helpful when it came to suggestions. Choosing can be a process so on a busy afternoon the lines can get backed up. Their pizza looked delicious but we brought some snacks of our own to enjoy so we didn't purchase any. There was ample lawn seating and quite a few parties happening when we were there. They had live music playing and it was a great way to end a fun weekend away. We also purchased some bottles to go after our tasting. Just went for the first time last week and I am in love! My group did a tour, led by Katey, who was extremely knowledgeable about the wine-making process. She also had a great sense of humor, leading our group and kept spirits up during the wine tasting portion. Visted the location in the town of Gettysburg on a Saturday around noon. They are still requiring masks which was a little irritating. They do not offer tastings. Flight prices are high when you can get a glass for about $4 less. Not a huge spot for inside seating. Employees were helpful when we asked for recommendations of other places to go. read more

Service was not good. We went for a simple wine tasting but just got four samples of the worst wine ever, and told to find a seat. No explanation about the swill we were given, no crackers (had to buy a whole bag) to help between samples. Anyway, the wine should never taste like vinegar so they probably should just throw that stuff away. There are several other winery's near by that were really good. Recommend you skip this one...unless vinegar is your thing. read more

Amazing winery! We stopped by the shop in downtown Gettysburg and did a wine tasting. My boyfriend doesn't like wine, and he bought 4 bottles of the Rebel Red (it's a bit peppery). I highly recommend the white Tears of Gettysburg, and buy one of their candles in a wine glass. It's been 6 months and it's still burning and smelling amazing in our house. You should also follow them on Instagram as well. It was an amazing wine tasting experience, and between the two of us, we spent over $300 on wine and candles for ourselves and our families as presents. Wow!!! What a great experience we had today at the Adams Co Winery in downtown Gettysburg. Ken, the manager, was our wine tasting assistant. We absolutely had a fantastic time with his great personality and he really helped us understand the wines we were experiencing. The wines were phenomenal and it was hard to choose one favorite. While in Gettysburg this weekend my boyfriend and I stopped to restock his wine collection at the Adams County winery stone in town. We already knew what we were going to bring back with us as this is his favorite winery and he restocks the same varietals regularly, but we did do a wine tasting while we were there as well. We started with the riesling (A floral Riesling with subtle honeysuckle and apricot tones, this wine pleases all palates). We both thought it was far too dry as we prefer sweeter rieslings, which this was not. We then tasted the timepiece riesling (A dessert wine yielding intense floral aromas, this Riesling presents tropical characteristics of pineapple and mango followed by pear and honeysuckle.) This was far too sweet in my opinion. We restocked on the Tears of Gettysburg is which our favorite (Double Gold Medal Winner - Our hallmark wine is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year. A distinctively smooth union of Niagara, Vidal, and Seyval.) It is very smooth and not overly sweet. We also restocked on the Rebel Red (Double Gold Medal Winner - Our most popular red wine. This semi-sweet Concord blend has a dry finish.). I do not like reds usually but I love this one-perfectly balanced. We also tasted the Rusty's Red since the gentleman assisting us said the Rebel Red was a new batch and many people were saying Rusty's is sweeter when typically it's the opposite. We agreed-Rusty's was a bit sweeter, described as "red wine is as sweet as its namesake. It is named in honor of the winery's V.I.P. (Very Important Pet), Rusty, the Golden Retriever." We also stocked a couple bottles of that. A case was $162 but you get to become a member of their case club and get a discount on any future purchases. I highly recommend stopping in if you are in Gettysburg. The actual winery is not far and we are planning to go to the actual winery on our next visit. read more

We stopped at this little winery on our way home from a wonderful weekend in Gettysburg, and I am so glad we did! It was an adorable little spot with a nice selection. As the previous reviewer mentioned, they seem to be known for the fruit wine. I bought a bottle of apple and strawberry and loved them both. What I loved most was the little impromptu taste testing we took part in. For one dollar a taste, we were able to sale pretty much everything this winery had to offer. My personal favorite was the Vidal Blanc, and at only a few dollars a bottle I was able to take home a few. The owner of this winery really loves what he does, and is very knowledgable about the product, which made our visit all the more enjoyable. read more

Keeping it simple here: 1) Parking can be a pain to find since it's street parking and this is a tourist area. 2) It's a cute, spacious place. Definitely more spacious than other wineries I've been too. They have a semi-closed off section where you can sit down. 3) Their bathroom was very clean! 4) The wine tastings are great. Adams County Winery (or better known as Gettysburg Winery) is one of the oldest wineries in Pennsylvania and also voted Best Winery in Gettysburg. With that said, Adams County has created some of the best wines that I have ever tasted, three are in fact my all-time favorites: Tears of Gettysburg (Vidal, Seyval and Niagara), Rebel Red (Concord blend), and Black Magic (100% blackberry wine). Yankee Blue (100% blueberry wine) and also the President's Choice Moscato are wonderful too, however, they tend to be very sweet and there are some other wines from different wineries that I prefer over those two, but the other three will never be able to be replaced. Believe it or not, I have actually never been to their farm where the wine is made but I am a frequent visitor of their Wine Shop at 25C on Chambersburg Street in Gettysburg. This is where they have a small tasting room, wine and cheese for sale and a few small tables for you to enjoy yourself. Notes: First Friday of the month from 4:00PM through 8:00PM they have drink specials. Fourth Thursday of every month they have a "read between the lines book club" at 6:30PM. read more

I thought the wine was pretty good, but what I really loved was the atmosphere. Buying a bottle to drink on the deck was definitely worth it. Very relaxing. I love wine - and I am unashamed to say it. My friend raved about this place, so several years ago, I decided to pop into the retail location at 25C. I was treated to a free tasting, and I was hooked. Everything I tried, I really liked. That is very uncommon. I have since frequented the winery operations in Orrtana, and it is so interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes. I have several favorites, because it depends on my mood and I love so many. My latest craze is Stray Cat Strut, which has a beautiful golden hue, a delightful bouquet, and a wonderful taste that goes with everything. I love Presidents Choice for sipping for no other reason than to sip (both of these are whites), and my favorite red is Rusty's, even though I believe most people love Rebel Red, I am still a Rusty's girl. And speaking of Rusty's - Rusty is the owner's golden retriever and he is gorgeous and friendly, and can often be found wondering around their space in Orrtana. I cannot say enough about the quality of these wines, and also of the staff. Always friendly and knowledgable. And the owners treat their customers so well. The prices are low to begin with, but I am a member of the "Barrel Tasters Club," a discount program when buying cases - believe me, I save a lot of money this way, and a bottle of Tears of Gettysburg makes an excellent gift, so I buy often. Have purchased from this business for the last 8-10? years and it is shipped to the west coast. Purchased 12 bottles stacked 4 tiers high and 3 bottles each tier. The usual wine shipment paperboard bottle fitting is used on all 4 tiers. This is form fitting for the bottle. The bottom 2 tiers were ok. Tier # 3 had 2 bottles rolling around on the 3rd bottle. The top tier again had 2 bottles unsecured and on top of that 4th tier was loose bubble wrap about 1 inch thickness. Above that bubble rap was about a 3 inch gap on top with no peanuts, bubble wrap or wadded newspaper. This gap on the top allowed the bottles to move. Fortunately, no bottles were broken. Called the Winery to complain and was basically told it's a busy time of year. They did apologize. read more

She was very proud of the company and was a huge supporter of their wines. It's a cute little location with some nice views. The staff was very friendly and engaging, and the wines were good, a few were very good. Did not look at any previous reviews. Went in there during the week of Apple Fest. We walked in. We were not ignored. We had someone to explain the wine from a list that we received based on the taste of wine we like. We like red with a little of sweetness to it but not too sweet. Given that information and the pleasant experience and knowledge, we rated that a better experience and warm welcome than the other winery that was up the street, umm Reid's the lady there was not friendly at all. This was the better choice. And we are very critical. The sweet spicy wine was my favorite gets better after every taste. read more

Friendly Service, helpful hints, and generous free samples. Not necessarily the highest end wines, however the products are quality and offered at affordable prices. You can pick up a very decent bottle for 12-16$. Many of the offerings are in fact, also unique to the area. They offer a wide variety of fruit wines, I would suggest you check out a sample of the Scrapple Wine, not made of scrapple! It's actually an acronym for Sweet CRanberry APPLE. Cranberry Apple Wine? Okay not traditional in the least, but quite tasty and very unique. I personally love to buy a couple bottles of the local brew whenever I go to these small vintners- if you love exploring local wines- I don't think you will be disappointed stopping by this winery/shop. read more

I visited PA in July for family. This was the first winery we visited. Going into it, I had a pretty open mind, hadn't tasted PA wine. I received a disclaimer from my family that Adam's is very sweet. I usually prefer dryer wines, but I can appreciate sweet wines as well. From the minute we walked in, we received poor service. Maybe it was a busy day. But the assistant manager, who conducted the tastings took awhile to even acknowledge us. I look a lot younger than I am (I'm 26). She took my I.D. to their backroom to Google if I had a legitimate license. Okay, reasonable, but a little weird. Their map showed that they had people from Arizona before, I doubt that it was the first time she had seen an Arizona I.D. I did the standard tasting and she explained that we could purchase more tastings if we needed to. I marked down the tastings, wasn't immediately thrilled by any of the wines. I told her that I did prefer dryer wines. She didn't explain any of the flavor profiles for the wines and the listed descriptions on the menu were short and generic. She basically just stood there and told me it was sweet or not as sweet. If that wasn't bad enough, she only gave me four of the six tastings and refused to let me buy more tastes. I had not been drinking prior to arriving and was very sober. At the end of the tasting, she was staring me down to purchase a bottle. Maybe she needs customer service training or maybe she had a vendetta against me, lol. I hope the other staff are better and that perhaps she has moved on by now (this happened 3 months ago in July). The tours might be better, I wasn't interested in one after the tasting experience. Would not recommend. read more

The facility is a bit hodge-podgy but the staff are all friendly and knowledgeable and they had some unique wines for a great price. I brought my sister and her bf, both had never been to a vineyard before nor are they big wine drinkers but they had a great time! The girl conducting our tasting was very knowledgable and down-to-earth so my sister and her bf felt comfortable asking even the simplest of questions. I have never tasted a wine made from concord grapes so that was interesting, like drinking alcoholic grape koolaide! I'm not a huge fan of whites but they had a good selection of whites that were very tasty and great for the summer. If we are in the area again, we will return. read more

My husband and I enjoy visiting wineries to taste the wines and to hear the stories from the winery owners or shop owners. Listening to why they make the wine or sell the wine is always interesting. We have been to many in our immediate area and always return to Adams county winery or the store in town. We have visited the winery on two occasions. Once to make wine as our daughter gifted us the experience. Enjoyable but we prefer the wine shop in town. Not as many people tasting when we go to the wine store. We prefer the smaller crowd and the very personal and undivided attention we receive. The people pouring the wine are always friendly and are very willing to explain the different wines. They don't mind questions and are most attentive. We take our girls for special celebrations and more often just for a nice long drive to Gettysburg. All four of us have very different tastes and our wine choices differ depending on the batch. However, the Rebel Red is my absolute favorite and although last years batch was a bit different, we still came home with two cases of wine. Mostly Rebel Red. We are Members of the barrel club. Would highly recommend tasting all wines at Adams. They have enough of a selection that anyone's taste will surely be covered. From stray cat to tears of Gettysburg to rebel red to presidents choice there is a wine for everybody. If you have time, buy some cheese and crackers and a bottle of wine and sit in the little seating area. My girls who are young adults prefer the black magic. It's a bit sweet for us but it is yummy if you like the sweeter wines. They have mulled wine they sell by the glass which is perfect in the colder weather. Nice place to sit and catch up with friends and family and to enjoy really tasty wine. We never return home without a case or two or three. Hmmm. I think our Rebel Red bottles need replacing. visited downtown gettysburg and stopped in here on labor day. the clerk, connie was very friendly and gave us a great, free tasting. the entire store smells like concord grapes because they make candles from their own grape juice in the basement of the store! we purchased the reisling (not overly sweet, delicious) and the rebel red. will definitely be back to this place. both bottles were $13-$15 -- pretty good. read more
