Cool Irish pub. Good menu options Irish food and American bar food. There are tons of whiskey options which is really cool. Kitchen closes at 10. The Guinness beef stew didn't have much flavor and the Irish soda bread was more like a scone and not really like the soda bread you get in Ireland. Great decorations, feels like a real Irish pub. I came here for lunch on a Saturday with my partner and his grandma. There is paid street parking available in front of the restaurant. We were seated right away even without a reservation. The place definitely has a pub vibe, though without the loud energy. Service was kind and friendly. I requested no ice in my water and it came as such. I got the shepard's pie and I enjoyed it. It seemed to be made with real ingredients and not just something heated up. Most items on the menu were below $20 which is somewhat rare these days for restaurant food. There's a variety of good Irish style food to choose from, many of which have their own family flair. When I saw the shepherds pie on the menu, it made my choice easy. The shepherds pie comes with your typical beef, carrots, peas, and savory gravy. This is touted as a family recipe. It sure was good. On top sit your mashed potato. This is Our favorite Irish pub when we come to Gettysburg. Everything we've eaten on the menu is delicious. The drinks are delicious. My only complaint is I feel like the portion sizes are just a little bit smaller than I'd like for the price. But, it is obviously good quality food. For example, I got a sautéed shrimp dish and for once it's not rubbery and dry like shrimp from any other restaurant. Can't wait to visit again. read more

Looking for some place a little different while staying in Gettysburg. This was a recommendation from our B&B staff. We were looking for something light other than a burger and noticed Fish & Chips on their web menu. We arrived and promptly seated. In a bit the server came ad asked for our drink order. I figured an Irish pub, a Black and Tan would be in order and they did perfectly. We both ordered the fish and chips, thinking the 6oz would be too small so we ordered the 10 oz. Well when the order came, the fish was huge. We both thought uh-oh too much food. The fish was perfectly deep fried and pretty good for the most part. If you're in Gettysburg, you can't miss this hidden gem. The Garryowen Irish Pub is so much fun, has live music, and incredible food. I am a huge fan of shepherd's pie, so of course, that was one of the main reasons I went. What was shocking was the shepherd's pie here is better than the three different shepherd's pies I had in England. Yes, really! (I know England is not Ireland; it's on the bucket list.) The soda bread and stew looked amazing and everyone was thrilled with their food. They also have local pop (otherwise known as soda) and merch if you want it. Highly recommended! read more

Great atmosphere, beer, food and staff - can't ask much more than that. Nice on-tap beer selection. Enjoyed Harp and another that was Guinness-like but I don't remember the name. There were 5 of us. Both the Fish & Chips and the Shepherds Pie were large and delicious. Along with 2 different Burgers and a Caesar Salad, everyone enjoyed their dinner. Tried this restaurant for takeout last night. Ordered two entrées... Fish and chips and Bangers with mash. The fish was a large portion of haddock deep fried in a Yuengling beer batter. The coating was very good and remained crispy, even though it was in a takeout container for 20-30 minutes. The fries were OK... nothing special. It would've been nice to have a small cup of coleslaw included with this entrée. The bangers and mash (two grilled sausages with a topping of fried onions on a bed of mashed potatoes) was also quite tasty. The interior ambience and decor in the restaurant was very nice. The only thing that held me back from giving five stars is the price (including tax?) for these two entrées.... $44.48 plus tip, which seemed a little expensive to me. However, food quality was very good and I would consider ordering takeout there again and/or dining in. Note: The street entrance to the restaurant is a double set of steep 4? 5? 6? stairs with handrails that is not terribly easy to negotiate for people with disabilities. There may be another more handicapped accessible entrance, but I did not see it. read more

My first time in Gettysburg in ages, we were looking for delicious food on our last afternoon in town. We stumbled upon Garyowen Irish Pub and stopped in for a bite. We were not disappointed one bit! We walked in and immediately admired the authentic Irish decor. Even the locals having lunch could have been plucked straight from the Emerald Isle. The menu was filled with so many delicious sounding options, it was difficult to pick. I started with a couple Scotch eggs. I've had Scotch eggs a number of times, even in Scotland. But these were the best I've ever had. The seasoning was absolutely spot on! For my entree, I went with something I'd never tried before, the Irish Spice Bag. A Paper bag, filled with chunks of fried chicken, chips (French fries) and a curry gravy. Sounds weird, tastes fantastic! Of course, I also had the best poured Guinness ever. Very possibly a 1800 era tavern. Our party of four sat at the bar as the restaurant was filled with Friday night clientele. Our party ordered two fish and chips, one shepherd pie, and one hamburger. The fish and chips was one of the best; light fluffy and not overly moist. The burger was cooked very well. Try their soups. Such a cozy and cute pub in Gettysburg! Stopped in for lunch while staying in town for a wedding, and we had such a nice experience. The food was tasty and the cider was cold, and the ambiance is so fun! The service was very prompt and friendly as well. We were seated in the tea room section, but there's also a dark cozy bar area and a pub/dining room as well. Having visited Ireland last year, my husband and I were thrilled to see that a traditional spice bag (an irish pub dish consisting of chips, fried chicken, and savory dried chilies and seasoning in a paper bag) was on the menu. We tried that along with some scotch eggs and a salad, everything was fantastic. The curry sauce accompanying the spice bag was so yummy! Once we sat, it was pretty smooth from there. They have a pretty good beer / cocktail menu along with their food menu. My wife had the spice bag, which is pretty much, fries, curry gravy and tenders in a paper bag. I had the Garryowen stew, which comes with soda bread. Table service was attentive and good. When we walked in there was no one at the wait station. So we had to wait a bit. They seem very busy. Once the person arrived we did get seated fairly quickly. It was a cute little bar. We were in a time crunch so we quickly ordered. We split some jerk wings and Irish Stew. The wings came out first. They were hot and delicious. The sauce was a bit of a surprise. I thought jerk would be a dry rub but it was a sauce. It was slightly spicy and slightly sweet. The Irish Stew with Irish soda bread was very traditional. You can taste the port. The beef was tender and the vegetables were soft. We didn't have time to try the sticky toffee pudding. But during the whole time I really wanted to try it so after the tour and dinner dropped by to ask if I can have it as a take out. I was so happy when they said yes!
