Yogurt Cucumber Eggplant Dip Ikra Soltani Plate
    Morgan W.

Owner of the restaurant is a really nice and generous man. My husband placed a large order to go and ended up with a couple of free items from the owner. We ordered soltani, chicken kabobs, rice and several other items. Rice was buttery and the chicken was delicious. Everything was cooked to order and very fresh. This is a great option for the price and the quality of food you get. It took about 30 ish mins for the order to be completed and it was worth the wait.

Shish kabob plates, ikra and hummus (there was more rice, ikra and hummus not in the picture) Very generous portions!

Last minute takeout order on Mother's Day for 3 shish kabob plates, a long with separate sides of ikra & hummus. I can't believe everything was ready in just 30 minutes! Reasonable prices, generous portions, and a healthy stack of lavash to go with it! Can't wait to try more items from this place!

Amazing service. Would recommend. The hummus was incredibly smooth and the rice was super fluffy. I will be coming back!

Food was delicious and service was great! Randomly stumbled upon this place when the usual spot we go to had an hr wait. So glad we did. Will come again.

We came in about two hours before closing. They were only doing takeout, TWO hours before closing. We ordered the chicken luleh plate for takeout, but I believe they gave me the beef. Not a big fan of eating red meat, but I was already far away. The plate was super delicious. I liked the eggplant side. Sadly, they were out of garlic sauce. Overall, tasty food, and I'd recommend if you'd like a filling meal.

An unassuming kebab restaurant in the land of kebabs. Moon Mart is a local hangout for many neighborhood folks. A fixture and kind of a water cooler spot to have a familiar meal. A small dining room is adorned with a an ample size patio area for additional dining space. The small kitchen may be filled with a one or two person crew thus service may be slow on weekdays. The food is also a bit low key compared to your standard restaurant affair. Nearly homestyle, flavors are clean and a tad under seasoned like the usual manner. This all makes quite an average culmination of flavors, but still very appetizing. The portions are decent. Plate sizing can be shared or taken come to enjoy again. As for kebabs sake, the quality is good. Somewhat above par and yet not great. Except for the some sides such as their fresh tzatizki sauce and hummus, which is the best I have had. The service is friendly and caring, just may be a little slow. Take away is available and certain a good choice. Pricing is also a little above average.

Thanks to Yelp for the great spot! I found this on Yelp whole searching for Persian food while in Glendale. I wanted a smaller restaurant and not having to wait for a while to be seated. Place was great. Harry was nice, food was outstanding. Plenty of parking there. I highly recommend the food and will definitely return here soon

I am mad that I never drove far enough down York to discover this place and only discovered it…read moreafter it was suggested for a lunch meetup. I needed this place in my life sooner! Let's start with the drink....I'm not a fan of anything rose flavored or scented so I wanted to make sure the rose flavor wasn't too strong in the Jallab. Since I was told the rose flavor is pretty prominent, it was suggested I do the Jallab with lemonade. What a perfect selection! I didn't pick up any rose flavor and the drink was so pretty. This is a refreshing alternative if you don't want to go with a soda. I already had my heart set on the appetizers and fortunately the other person was on board with the same choices. For dippers, I always go with a yogurt and cucumber appetizer and the Babaghanouj did not disappoint. These sides came with three pieces of pita bread. Neither side was overly garlicky and paired well with my entree. If you love cheese borek like I do, get you some cheese rolls. My only regret is only getting one. The cheese rolls were perfectly flavored and not overly salty. Now for the entree...I already had my eye on three meats so the waitress said to go with The Your Way Plate, which came with a kafta and tenderloin skewer. I also added a lamb skewer on the side. Both my lamb and tenderloin skewer were cooked medium and they were perfect. Lamb is one of those dishes that can be a hit or miss because if it's not cooked right, it will be chewy - mine was perfect! And, the spices they use to cook the lamb in will have you trying to pick up every last drop of juice with your pieces of meat. No complaints with the kafta either. I chose rice as my side because I love me the carbs. We went on a weekday for lunch and parking was easy enough to find on a side street. The staff was friendly and there was indoor and outdoor seating options. This place gets a yummy in my tummy rating and I will be back sooner rather than later.

My go-to order is the lamb kebab plate with half rice and half cabbage salad. The lamb is always cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and incredibly flavorful (I usually order it medium well). The rice is delicious, but I especially love the cabbage salad, which is tossed in a bright, refreshing mix of lemon juice, olive oil, and garlic. It's the perfect balance to the rich, savory lamb, and the meal always leaves me feeling satisfied without being overly heavy. The restaurant has very limited indoor seating, so if you can, I'd recommend dining in. This is one of those meals that's best enjoyed fresh and piping hot. I like taking my time cutting the lamb into bite-sized pieces and savoring every bite. If you're planning to order takeout instead, I'd suggest the combo plate with the chicken, tenderloin, and ground beef skewers, also with half rice and half cabbage salad. Those meats are softer and easier to enjoy on the go, especially if you're eating shortly after picking it up. And don't skip the garlic sauce--it is absolutely delicious and takes everything to the next level. Simple, fresh, and consistently well-executed, Skaf's On York has definitely earned a spot as one of my favorite restaurants in Highland Park.

Atmosphere:I went with my gusband on a weekday night, the place was not busy. The vibe/atmosphere is gorgeous! Not pretentious , yet upscale. modern, boho, and elegant in an accessible way that makes you feel welcome. The open air concept is right up my alley, especially during a warm summer night. For those complaining about the train: we're not in the suburbs! This is Los Angeles! The train was one of my favorite parts of the whole experience! It is not common to be able to dine at a Michelin restaurant tucked away in a quiet neighborhood that is so close to the heart of the city. I loved watching the train go by! Food: Wow. Bread, the sauces , the flavors. I don't think i need to say more, i was blown away. We had starters and a main and it was just right. WIne : Another 5 star experience. We invited her to sit and have a glass of our fabulous Assyrtiko, but she politely declined. We just really enjoyed having a real server that talked to us like humans, something not so common for LA. The only slight downside is its location right next to the train tracks , when a train passes, it creates quite a bit of noise, but it didn't ruin the lively vibe of our dinner. The Food The fusion Mediterranean menu has plenty of great options, and we definitely stuffed ourselves: House-Made Pita Bread: An absolute must-order. It comes out warm, fluffy, and fresh--we loved it so much we ended up eating five orders. Paired perfectly with the dips and cherry tomato spread. Whole Dorade: A major highlight of the table. Perfectly cooked fish served in a rich, savory cherry tomato sauce. Beef Shish Kabob: Incredibly tender, well-seasoned, and packed with flavor. Grilled Octopus: Flavors and presentation were nice, though the texture was a bit tough and over-charred/grilled on our visit. Service & Final Thoughts The service was warm, attentive, and kept everything moving smoothly all night. Aside from the train noise and the slightly overdone octopus, everything else hit the spot. Great food, great company, and we'll definitely be back for the fish and pita bread!

Also a side of the Za'atar/sumac fries. Fries came out first PIPING hot, crispy, seasoned perfectly nom nom. The entrees quickly followed. The lamb was so tender and juicy and bursting with flavor. And the fried chicken was AMAZING. Shwarma that is breaded with an amazing mixture and fried. Genius! The plates also came with hummus topped with whole chickpeas (YUM), dilled rice, a cabbage salad and other greens, grilled pita bread, olives and my personal favorite, pickled radishes. Many reviews describe them as beets (which I also love) but these are radishes and they pair so well with the rich meat. An umami bomb! Portions HUGE (we have a full meal waiting in the fridge) and prices very reasonable. Patio is a very fun hang with pretty lights. My only knock is on the chairs which are not exactly "comfy." But that's a trivial issue. Service was attentive and staff so friendly and helpful. I can't remember Emily's colleague's name but shout out to her and her Rasputin's shirt (yay Berkeley vibes.)
