Delicious Mediterranean Food!... We usually start off with their avocado salad. My husband enjoys ordering the combo plate. I like trying different items like their Koobideh, Spare Ribs, Wraps and Salmon. Their Koobideh is tasty. The service sucks but it felt like the young guy simply had a terrible additude toward life in general. I mean really odd, but the older server was fine. I give 5 stars for the best Armenian food I've had in my life. My boyfriend agrees that this place was mind blowing. I got the vegetarian special which was moderately priced at $14 or so. The portions are ENORMOUS. We both went hungry and left with two boxes full of delicious leftovers. I had mine for breakfast and lunch the following day and was still heartbroken that I didn't have any more for dinner! I'll be back in a flash and ignore the grumpy young waiter! read more

YES!!! Super! Just super! Wow! This place came highly recommended from our friends and after reading the NYTimes review I was even more interested in trying Adana. We showed up on a Friday night. We were seated immediately but had to wait a while for the owner/waiter to catch up with the rush and take our order. The owner was super friendly even though he looked overwhelmed at times with the number of tables he was waiting on. And he gave us some great suggestions. We started with the Fatoush salad and it was super fresh and flavorful and wonderful and amazing and I wanted to hug the chef. Then came the chicken kabob and vegetarian plate and what!??? The chicken was so moist and delectable. We had the tomato as our side. Yum. The vegetarian plate was great too. It was full of all the normal stuff you get with a Mediterranean vegetarian plate but its just that everything was done so well. And best of all the prices were reasonable. Great middle eastern food! This place is small and cozy with a European vibe. I tasted the chicken breast plate which came with a large side of rice and I chose the hummus and yogurt as sides. The chicken was well done (per my request) and very flavorful. The sides were also delicious, especially with the crispy pita bread. I also tried the beef and chicken koobideh. I liked the beef better than the chicken but both were pretty good. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of the restaurant. I wish the music was a tiny bit louder because at times it felt too quiet but otherwise great place! read more

I've been here many times now and I still can't help feeling like I accidentally crashed an ethnic lion's club meeting every time I walk in. The food is good enough to make up for the lack of decor and ridiculously slow service. Not a fast lunch, but certainly a delicious one. This place is located in the industrial side of Glendale. It is in an unassuming building and can be missed walking by it. The restaurant decor has a middle eastern feel to it, but this adds to the vibe of the place. We have tried the Cornish Hen Kabob, Beef Kabob, and the Chicken Breast Kabob. All kabobs were flavorful, juicy, and really great. The meat just melts in your mouth. The restaurant is family owned and the service was very friendly. The place has great Armenian- Persian cuisine. Most of the time when reviewing a Mediterranean/Middle Eastern place, Id give it an average rating because how can you really do it wrong? Then a place comes around and I say, these guys are doing it right and everyone else is wrong. The decor is great and makes you feel somewhere between walking into someone's home and a palace. The chairs and table layout really makes me feel like someone made a restaurant in their living room and I love it. I would hate it if the food didn't taste homemade almost. The beef kabobs really stand out here. If you take only one thing away from this review, it is that you need to come in and try the Koobideh Kabob or any of the beef Kabobs. I do not know what spicy they use in the meat mixture and if you are the owner of this fine establishment, don't tell me because while I don't know, I will be coming back for more. read more

Adana has an obscurely marked storefront in a sort of industrial area in Glendale. It has a much lower profile than my other two favorite Mediterranean restaurants- Raffi's and Carousel - and you might miss it if you blink. Adana is extraordinary in what they offer. This was my second visit and they did not disappoint. If you like eggplant, you can have it in several ways. I had it baba ghanouj style and it is a 5/5, as is their hummus 5/5. The avocado salad 4/5 with freshly sliced avocado, minced onion and parsley is delicious and a very popular dish. And their grape leaves 5/5 are the best I've had, perfectly flavored to perfection. You'd think it contained meat, but its vegetarian! In fact, Adana is very vegetarian friendly. I love the airy saffron-zapped rice that came with the delicious chicken kebob dinner 4+/5. It comes with a choice of two sides. I chose the hummus and a cucumber tomato and greens marinated salad 3/5. I tried my daughter's steak kebob 4/5 and it was tender. I've also tried the salmon kebob 4+/5 which did not disappoint. The Cornish hen is highly recommended although I've never tried it. Next time for sure. So, if you can get past the wrought-iron front doors and white frosted windows, you'll find the friendliest staff and very typical Mediterranean ceilings. The seating is in one big room, but, the noise level was fine. A big party? The decibel level will go up, I suppose. Adana will not disappoint. Highly recommended. read more

I am giving this restaurant 5 stars for it's excellent Stuffed Grape leaves, Lamb Chop kabob, and Persian Salad. At first, I thought the Yelp map and the iPad map had to be wrong; the numbers on San Fernando were climbing from 100 to 400 to 500 and then suddenly it jumped to 6900 and there Adana was! Ambiance: not an exquisite location, being on a busy street, but if you can overlook that, the interior was nice, the chairs comfortable, and the music really pleasing. The store front glass was frosted so you couldn't look out, but the shadow of the exterior tree and the glow of the evening backlight made it much better than looking at the passing cars. Service: this appears to be a family run restaurant so service is friendly and interactive. It wasn't very busy so not put to the test this evening. Stuffed Grape Leaves: I started with these as an appetizer, always a favorite of mine. These are the cool type, not warm. The small order of four stuffed grape leaves were bright green, tender, firm, moist with olive oil and stuffed with delicious ingredients. The creamy sauce it came with was bright and flavorful. These are a bargain and worth ordering. Lamb Chop Kabob: this was by far the most expensive item on the menu. But at under $20, if they were any good at all, they would be a bargain. And in fact, they were excellent! When asked how I wanted them cooked, I said "chef's choice". The server smiled with pleasure. These three lamb chops were roasted to perfection! No blood but beautifully pink and warm in the center. The flavors, with a mild salt and herb rub, were brilliant and delectable with perfect meat flavor. I've paid twice as much for lamb half as good. This dish came with rice perfectly cooked and two sides. Persian Salad: diced cucumber, green and red pepper, tomatoes, tossed with a light oil and lots of chopped herbs were a splendid side dish to the lamb. The flavors were light so they don't overtake the lamb and the medley was fresh and plump. I loved this non-leafy salad. Hummus: my second side was good, but nearly as good as the rest of the meal. It tasted fresh but was missing a zip that I am used to. Perhaps I am used to more garlic or citrus. If you like a milder hummus, this one is for you. It came with some pita bread as well but the pita was too chewy and what I would consider stale. Though the hummus and pitas were average and the location not so romantic, everything else was delicious, perfectly executed, and an outstanding value so I must give it the top prize. read more

Unbeknownst to us, Jonathan Gold had just written a review that day. Needless to say, Adana was absolutely slammed. Edward, the owner, was extremely apologetic for the delays and was gracious and friendly. We have been going to Adana ever since and just picked up a take away order this past weekend. I visited this cozy Middle Eastern restaurant with my parents while they were in town. We all ordered the kabob plates, which were very large, delicious and featured extensive side selections. I ordered the beef and lamb kabob, we which was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. The basmati with sour cherries was a perfect match for the meat. The Persian cucumber and tomato salad was very refreshing, and the hummus was very good quality. Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant.
