We were 4 adults and 1 child, and an automatic 18% gratuity was already included in the bill. However, on the receipt the section saying "tips not included" was circled, which made it seem like gratuity had NOT been added yet. Because of that confusion, I ended up leaving an additional cash tip. I understand restaurants may add gratuity automatically for larger groups, but if gratuity is already included, the receipt and staff should make that clear instead of circling "tips not included." It creates unnecessary confusion for customers. Also, automatically adding gratuity regardless of service feels questionable. A friend and I came upon this amazing spot when we were wandering around Glendale. We don't frequent the area, nor have we had Georgian food before, but we decided to try it out and we were not disappointed! There was indoor and covered outdoor seating. It was raining and cold this day, so we opted to eat inside. The dining room was clean and classy, it had the feel of a steakhouse without feeling too stuffy. The service was fine, two servers were checking on us, refilling our waters, and they were both happy to answer any of our questions about the menu. A khinkali is a Georgian dumpling, very similar to xiao long bao, but double the size. A server told us that they can be boiled or fried, but they are to be eaten with your hands. We ordered two boiled lamb khinkali and two Georgian cheese khinkali. With that, we also ordered a zhengyalov hatz, which is an Armenian flatbread stuffed with herbs and spices which vary depending on the region, and a lamb skewer to share. After trying this place, I truly think that khinkali is solid competition against soup dumplings! The boiled lamb dumpling was flavorful and for those who love lamb, I highly recommend trying this! The wrapper held up very well when eating with your hands, and it was a bit salty, which complemented the lamb very well. A note of caution that there is broth inside the dumpling, so you'll want to sip that before it goes all over your clothes. The fried dumpling with cheese was so good, it kind of gave the best feeling of eating a crab rangoon. The cheese itself was salty and creamy, and the fried dumpling had great texture. We came for a light snack before dinner It was my first time trying Armenian-Georgian soup dumplings (the khinkali). We tried the lamb and the beef boiled ( traditional way) and then we tried the mushrooms fried. I would say traditional method is ok but those mushroom ones fries were excellent so I'm thinking them fried must be even better. The dumplings are quite big but they're mostly empty with a bit of ground meat and a thin broth. It's tasty but if you're expecting a soup dumpling like DTF (din tai fung) then this isn't it. It's heartier and less refined than the DTF version. The hummus is great and so was the khachapuri (Georgia egg and cheese bread boats). The staff was super nice and very accommodating to our family. We had several delicious variations of meat and cheese and dough that were very good. Wasn't really feeling the white tablecloth setting/vibe. We thought they would have a fun selection of Georgian wine including orange wine but that was not the case. The one Georgian dry white wine and one Georgian dry red wine we tried were not good, but I guess they were kind of cheap at $10/glass. The only issue is they accidentally poured us an extra glass of red, took it away from our table, and still charged us for it (and we didn't realize until after we'd paid and left). We also wanted to try a little baklava at the end and they made it sound like the pieces were really small so we ordered two not realizing they were massive and $10 each! Most of the food was heavy / greasy to us and no real main entree. The best Khinkali of the ones we got was the steamed beef. It didn't have a whole lot of flavor still. We likely won't be coming back because this type of food I guess just isn't for us, but clearly they have a lot of supporters who like it so it just comes down to personal presence for us. We also ordered a Caesar's salad. They brought out fries instead, and at the time we thought they were just being nice so we didn't say anything about it. Mashed red bean (Lobi Pashtet)- 4 little clumps of red beans. Reminded me of raw meat. It was a good appetizer. Good seasoning. Not over powering. But pleasing to the palate. 2. Khinkali- they have 4 different types of these large Georgian dumplings. And they have them either fried or traditional, which is boiled. Reminds me of Xiao Long Baos or Chinese soup dumplings. But just a lot larger. Good flavors. Good amount of filling. I prefer the fried ones better though in that it held its shape easier than the boiled ones. The beef and lamb ones are a lot better than the cheese and mushroom ones. There's definitely a technique to eating them!! 3. Quinoa salad- this was really good. I enjoyed the slices of green apples. Added some sweetness and tartness. It was light and refreshing. 4. Beef skewer- the beef was tough. Maybe because we ordered it medium well. It wasn't that great. 5. Khachapuri (regular)- it was small. Like a little loaf of cheesy bread. Bread was crunchy on the outside but very cheesy and warm on the inside. 6. Chicken wings- this was one of the bigger disappointments. $15 for 4 anemic tiny chicken wings. Not crunchy at all. Extremely salted. And they just looked really sad. They belong more in the dollar per wing sode of things. 7. Okroshka drink- a yogurt based Russian drink. Had lots of dill and cucumber in it. It was interesting and unique. 8. Honey cake- this was really good. Light, fluffy, not crazy sweet. It was just really small though. 9. Armenian coffee- little cups of coffee with the grounds on the bottom. It wasn't strong at all, like turkish coffee. It was kind of weak and anemic. 10. Chickpeas- they had a bowl of this on the table to begin thr meal with. They were really tasty! Cooked well, had a nice bite to them. And flavors were just popping! Overall the food was good. Is it authentic? I think so. I have nothing to compare it too. But it was new and unique to me. I love the vibes here. They use that ugly butcher paper for the tables like Raffis does. Food does come out quickly here. Its family style type of eating here and we did order a lot of food, but the bill does reflect that. They charge a non cash pay fee which I find to be upsetting, because who payd cash these days...... And they didn't tell me about it beforehand. Dinner night with the family here. I tried their zhyangalov hats, cheese khinkali (fried), and mushroom khinkali (boiled), and we got a Mediterranean salad to share. Salad was good; refreshing and not over salted/seasoned. The zhyangalov hats was ok; I ordered it only because they were sold out on the khachapouri (which I def want to try next time). I thought there was more bread than greens (personal preference). The khinkali were great though. Fried cheese is the only way to go for the cheese and was an excellent pair to the boiled mushroom. Mushroom was deliciously juicy and very well seasoned (almost a little bit too much salt but the dumpling dough adjusted for it). The cheese was excellent. It was pretty busy on a Saturday night, with very few open tables and a bit loud/rowdy. Our waitress was really kind and patient the whole evening. I was shopping at the americana mall and got hungry. I searched for good restaurants in the area, and found this place which is only a 5 minute walk. We walked in, and were seated immediately. There were only a couple of tables seated, so we got taken care of immediately. A couple of their items were not gluten free, but I found plenty of other options. The waitress was knowledgeable and double check with the kitchen to be sure. First, they bring you a bowl of chickpeas which are a nice little snack. I started with the mediterranean salad. It was a good size to share. It's pretty light and healthy. I mixed it with the chickpeas. Then I ordered 3 items from the skewers section. The lamb chops were nice and juicy but a bit small. The chicken breasts skewer was really good and full of flavor. The beef skewer was just ok, not bad but not amazing either. We ended the meal with armenian coffee, which is very strong and exactly what I needed to finish my day. Overall their meats are decent. I recognize that their best m dishes probably are khinkalis and pelmenis, which I cannot eat due to their gluten content. But you still have good options to go with. read more

Khachapurri; Khinkali & Pidmani Pretty simple Georgian food It's the simple things sometimes that make things great... The Cheese bread or Khachapuri was a different take on fried bread stuffed with cheese... the cheese has some herbal flavor which is a change of pace... love it The Khinkali steamed Beef dumpling was my fave... get three all steamed They also fry them and they recommend the mushroom and cheese fried... good too The Pidmani again steamed was amazing ... lather them in butter and sour cream if they're steamed... or fried... The Armenian lemonades came in a bottle and are imported; we got the pear and tarragon Sweet and bubbly goodness... Gonna have to come back and try the meats next time... Was so excited to try this place, as we'd gone to their original Yerevan, Armenia location. The menu is just the same! We ordered the khachapuri, mushroom and beef/pork khinkalis (half were fried and half were steamed), the pelmeni, and beef and chicken skewers.We also ordered some Cornelian cherry compote juice. I tried this place just last week on the recommendation of a Lyft driver who was raving on and on about this place. The food was delicious and had flavor profiles that I haven't experienced before. I started off the meal with Khachapuri - Georgian Cheese bread. This was cheese wrapped in a very light dough then baked. Very delicious! I then ordered a variety of small items to sample, the server recommended Khinkali - Georgian Dumpling filled with ground beef & pork, but I also ordered a cheese one and a mushroom filled one. I also tried two meat Skewers: Lamb Chops & Tiger Shrimp. All delicious! I finished off the meal with a slice of House Special Honey Cake covered with fresh berries. The service was great and I found the place to have a nice relaxing atmosphere to escape the chaos of the city in a little side alley. read more
