EAT ELSEWHERE! Without question, the WORST Persian food I have ever eaten. In a word - TASTELESS. I have had wonderful Persian food at many restaurants in LA, and am familiar with the cuisine. The rice - something Persian cuisine is known for - had no flavor. The koobideh (chicken & beef) was bland, bland, bland. The service was abhorent. There were two waitresses, and seven tables (almost all 2-tops). They could barely handle it. One took our appetizer order, and the other came to the table half way through our entrees to ask if we had received out appetizer! Gee - maybe you should ask your coworker that question, and not the customer. Another couple came in while we were eating, and the wait staff tried to seat them at a table which hadn't been cleaned up - the couple were smart and sat at a different (clean) table. This place may have had great reviews in the past (as posted on its website), but it is living on its laurels. We will never return, and I cannot recommend it at all. read more

Now that I have been here, I see why I never knew it existed. Really easy to pass on the street, but don't! When you first walk in, you are in a big dining room with lots of tables. There is no host stand, so just wait for one of the servers to come out of the kitchen. They will tell you to pick any table. Ordered so much food. Tried the spicy olive, eggplant, labneh, hummus, fattoush, combination kabob, and olivieh. Loved it all. Ordered it again when I came back the next week, plus the waffle fries. read more

Took my parents here at the recommendation of Yelp and we were not disappointed. As so many other Yelpers, we were the only people there that evening. The owner came out to take our orders (service was prompt and attentive) and, when he realized that none of us were very familiar with Armenian food, told us what to order when we told him a few of our preferences (my mom, for example, ordered something and he said, "no no, you order this instead" and I wanted to order one stew but he told me that another was much better). The hummus was amazing, but even better was the eggplant (?) dip with the Pita...mmmmm. Everyone enjoyed their food-- we had three different kinds of kebabs (chicken, steak, & ground beef), I had a stew, and we all had Persian Salads (delicious!!). Prices were great. Great place, and I'll be back. Only 4 stars rather than 5 because Armenian isn't my favorite food (good, but not amazing) and the ambiance was a little weird. read more

I am impressed! I love this place. This place used to be called Unique! I ordered from them sometimes for lunch, being in the Glendale area, they are close to my job. I have never attended their place of business, I have always ordered delivery. I must admit, Unique was not that great, it was....well......eh! I had not ordered from here in a while as the food was always disappointing. I'd rather drive to Cafe Bravo to get me some good Kabob. Last week, I was scarce on time and busy at work so I decided to give this place a try. Needless to say, I have ordered three different times since them. Yum! something changed. Don't know what but I'm glad. This place is so fresh now. I usually order the chicken breast kabob plate with no rice, instead, salad as substitute. My first plate- Chicken Kabob plate with Salad instead of rice and a side of yogurt and cucumber dip. This place must be blowing up now, they took forever to get me my food. I was a little pissed off as I was starving and me starving is not a pretty picture. I called, Excuse me, I ordered delivery like 45 minutes ago. The guy said he is on his way but what kind of dressing you want? hugh!?! To make up for his lateness, they included in my meal a side of Ikra- an eggplant paste that tastes delicious, blended with their own spices, A side of humus and extra pita. I was a happy camper. The salad had fresh greens, fresh tomatoes and onion. It was awesome! My second plate- Can I get a greek salad, a chicken Kabob a la carte, and a side of yogurt with Cucumber. Yum! My salad was extremely huge, I ate lunch and dinner off of the salad and one Kabob a la carte. The yogurt was great as always. My third Plate- Can I get a chicken Kabob plate with salad instead of rice. This time, the salad I got was the cucumber and tomato salad, with a hint of lime and some kind of green herb. don't know what it is but it's good. I ordered the yogurt with Shallots this time per a request from a co worker. They gave me a free side of humus also. This is my new favorite delivery place. Pretty much what everyone else said... HAVE PATIENCE. If you are in a hurry, do not order anything here, just go somewhere else, because your order is going to take 15-20 minutes to cook. Truly excellent Mediterranean fare. I last enjoyed tabbouleh and hummus, kabobs and fish, of this quality in Pasadena. Sadly, the Lebanese Kitchen closed and I moved in. I recently began a long project in Burbank and went in search of a quality spot to scratch this itch. What a find!! Their food is fresh and gourmet. Really. The chicken-cooked to perfection. The tabbouleh is beyond anything I've had previously. I'm starting next with the lamb then the fish. No fried fish here folks. Healthy, fresh, expertly prepared dishes. No employees in sight. 4 tables have customers waiting, look bored, still holding menus. I think one of them whispered, "kill me." I reply, "Today day off, sorry." I had no idea this was such a delicious restaurant just a few blocks from my house. Jonathan Gold was right. The cheese plate was delish and the eggplant appetizer was so flavorful with the fried onion. Meats are cooked to perfection. Please remember they do not serve alcohol but you may bring it in no problem. We were the only people in the restaurant during the weeknight, and I usually hate eating in empty restaurants. Muttabbul, Eggplant Dish, Filet Mignon kabob, and chicken kabob. All excellent. My group ordered a lot of stuff, these were the consensus favorites. I definitely want to reorder the muttabbul and the chicken kabob soon (I also want to try out the lamb chops, I heard those were really good). There was a split of opinion on the koobideh chicken (it sort of reminded me of Asian fish balls, which can be a pro or con depending on your palate). We got the chicken kabob with a strange and interesting rice that had orange peel in it, it was a mix of mildly bitter (from the peel) and sweet (I don't remember the name of that chicken dish, just look for the one with orange peel). We had a great time and thought the meal was delicious. Service is... Strange. It's a cultural difference I'd imagine, but if you get bent out of shape over service issues, maybe don't come here. Or better yet, get some thicker skin and eat some wonderful food. read more

It is rare that a restaurant holds up after repeated visits, but Adana does it just fine. We went yesterday and asked Edouard, the owner, to just set us up. He brought out some appetizers that included Igra and Aftik (I don't remember the names), and then we had the beef stew and the cornish hen. The cornish hen is amazing, probably the best fowl I have ever had, with the exception of some heavenly Peking duck I had in Hong Kong. The prices are mind-numbingly LOW. I thought they had delivered the wrong paper because the food critic wrote of Adana as being the best Persian food everywhere. And now I know why, and we are faithful customers. Probably some of the best chicken kebabs I've had in a long time. The chicken breast is cooked and seasoned perfectly. This family-owned place isn't anything fancy -- it's actually really unassuming and small -- but in addition to all the kebabs (chicken, lamb, rib), the Persian cucumber salad is LEGIT as is the rice with cherries. I could eat 10 plates of the salad alone. Did I mention you get all of this ethnic gourmet glory for $9? I stopped by after reading a glowing write up in the NY Times, and I'm certainly glad I did! Well, I typed in food, filtered "open now" and "$." I find Adana's and look at the pictures, it looked fancy but attire said casual so I went. There is no hostess but there is always somebody peeking their head through the kitchen door awaiting to greet and seat entering customers. Everything was delicious! The entrance to Adana does not look very impressive. It is in the middle of an industrial neighborhood. Inside the ambiance is pleasant, not unlike a banquet hall. We had dinner here on a Friday night and only 4 other tables were occupied, so service was not a problem. At busier hours apparently service can be a little slow. The food is simply lip smacking delicious. We ordered pasus dolmeh, which is a cabbage leaf dolmeh. I have had grape leaf dolmeh before and I love it. Pasus dolmeh is even better. We get 4 dolmeh per serving which is a pretty big portion. We also got kashk-e badamjen from the appetizer menu. Crispy eggplant and caramelized onion. We munched it down in no time. I am not a fan of barley but the barley soup we ordered which is a yogurt based warm soup was quite good. Finally for the entree we shared a chicken koobideh. Good, but nothing spectacular like the other dishes. For dessert we had a honey cake. A layered cake, a little dry and like a sponge cake in texture, just the right amount of sweet. Great service. The owner, Edward, kept checking with us and explaining the dishes. Will definitely come back next time I am in town. read more

Wow! I decided to pick up a dinner, since I am new in the area, and haven't found "my" kebab place yet. Mostly, I an a fan of ground beef kebab, and the biggest issue is it's usually pink inside and overcooked/burnt on the outside. Ground beef needs to be cooked well-done to avoid food poisoning! I was greeted promptly (weekday lunch hour), and offered a menu. I ordered the dinner portion (koobideh kabab over rice), with sides of yogurt dip ($1extra as a third side-dinner includes two), grilled tomato, and Persian salad. The meal was shrink-wrapped, so no spills. Huge portions and the beef was completely cooked, not dry or overcooked, despite the huge portion. Four half-pitas were included. The rice was also tasty. There is easily enough food for 2-3 meals. So happy I've finally found "my" new Mediterranean place! The other customer waiting was also a newbie who had read the good reviews. read more

I was looking for a place to eat dinner before a show. I was so happy to be lucky enough to come across this wonderful little place. If you like middle eastern food, I highly recommend eating here. Their food is excellent. Fresh, good portions and wonderful flavors. Unlike a lot of American dishes, middle eastern dishes rely on a complex combination of spices. I find this makes different restaurants more unique in their dishes. Adana's uses wonderful spices in the chicken and beef dishes. Next time I will have to try the lamb or one of their ground meat dishes. Their prices are very reasonable too. It's not where you would expect to restaurant this good to be, but go and discover your new favorite place. read more

Really enjoyed the food-- It was very tasty! I ordered the filet mignon steak and my husband had the lamb chops.... I have to say both were so tender and full of flavor. Another thing I really loved about this place was that it is BYOW-- we were unprepared for such invitation, but I quickly went next door to Walgreens and bought the best Merlot bottle I could find. I believe they charged us a $5 corkage fee which was A-OKkkaay with us. NEXT TIME WE'LL BE READY! Only found about this place because of Yelp. It is in a semi residential/ industrial part of town. I was expecting more of a hole in the wall place but that is definitively not what I got. Adana is a seat down restaurant with a hotel decor. Soon as you seat they put two kinds of pita bread on the table. I highly recommend getting an appetizer to share. The eggplant dishes are simply amazing. We shared lamb kabob and beef soltani. The prices are also easy on your wallet. There are pork ribs...and then there are Adana's pork ribs. I wisely asked the server's recommendation on my first visit here months ago, and was skeptical at first when she smiled and said, "the pork ribs". Being from the South, (and I don't mean San Diego, I mean the REAL South, where we take our college football and pork ribs extremely seriously), to say I was dubious about pork ribs from an Armenian restaurant is an understatement. Um, in one word: NOMMY. As is the kobbideh, oh and the hummus beats anything you'll find at Whole Foods, and given I'm a buyer for Whole Foods, that ought to count for something. Don't let the unassuming exterior (or interior) with the occasional homeless person walking by dissuade you, Adana is an exceptional foodie gem. So much so, I live in Ventura now, but go out of my way whenever I'm in L.A. to nosh here. The folks are super nice, service is prompt and efficient. Oh yeah, order some lavash. Just do it already. Kinda vacillating between a 4 and a 5 on this one but I guess I will go with a four. The meat and most of the dishes were truly phenomenal. My chicken kabob was incredible (just so flavorful and tender), my wife's lamb was amazing and the stuffed grape leaves we had for an appetizer were awesome too. The meat just had the perfect char-grilled crispy outside with a soft interior. Really excellent. On the other hand, the hummus was just average and the bread that they brought to the table tasted like something out of costco. Prices were maybe a bit higher than some similar restaurants in this area (not a huge deal considering how good the meat is) and the service was a bit understaffed - the waiters were very nice but there were only two for a full crowd on a friday night. Do not eat here if you have a food allergy- specifically a dairy allergy. My boyfriend and I told our waitress twice that I have a dairy allergy and can't have butter in my rice. She said so you do or do not want butter? I said no, I do NOT. My boyfriend said she will get very sick if she has it. Midway through my meal I started to feel funny. Sure enough I had a miserable 30 minute drive home asking my boyfriend to pull over and am severely sick thanks to their negligence of ignoring my food allergy. What a waste of money. I could sue them for that so I'm not sure why they wouldn't take it a little more seriously as food allergies are real serious. As a Persian myself, you can get better tasting food and better service elsewhere. read more

Amazing Persian food! We had gormeh sabzi and the beef kebab combo- oh my god, everything was so great. The meat was TRULY char-grilled perfection, and the gormeh sabzi even came with tadigh. The yogurt drink was speckled with mint, which I loved, and all the sides were excellent as well. And if you need any more convincing... The portions are huge! Definitely coming back. read more
