I am not a huge fan of kebabs because most kebabs I have eaten were on the dry side and they all tasted pretty much the same. Well, Adana was a different story. We tried this place after reading a glowing review of Jonathan Gold on this restaurant and Gold was absolutely right: the chicken kebab was the best I have ever had. It was moist, rich in flavor and came with delicious sides. The same goes for the lamb kebab, both in pieces and little chops, not to mention the grape leaves or the hummus. Even the complimentary bread chips are really yummy and so is their rice. The service is very attentive and I have seen a guy, who may be the owner, checking with all the patrons to makes sure everything is OK. He has a passion for his job and it shows it. I can't recommend this place enough and I am looking forward to my next visit. read more

This place is unreal! Mediterranean food on another level. Every entrée I have tasted thus far has not failed to impress me. I typically ask for suggestions and favorites but at this point, I've practically tried the entire menu. Everyone I know eats here, from my friends to my co-workers, for lunch and/or dinner. After our craptastic experience at El Caserio, we found Adana Restaurant in Glendale through Yelp. What a great discovery! The restaurant is so nondescript outside that if we weren't looking for it, we wouldn't know it was there. When we walked in, there were a few tables of customers but we didn't see any staff. Someone came out of the kitchen a few moments later and said we could sit anywhere we wanted to. We ordered a large igra to start, the chicken koobideh, and the lamb kabob with the following sides: Persian salad, hummus, cucumber yogurt, and roast tomato. The waiter (owner?) suggested that instead of the large igra, we get a small igra and another eggplant one with red bell pepper. We were happy with the suggestion since it gave us more variety to try so we went with his suggestion. I love, love the igra, my friend liked both but think the other one was slightly better. Combined together, they taste even better. When our entrees came, we split the two plates and got to try everything. I think Adana is so smart in letting customers choose two sides with their entrees. Most Mediterranean restaurants always just give you a grilled pepper and tomato. All the sides were good but we absolutely loved the cucumber yogurt. It was the best one we've ever tasted and we both weren't that crazy about this before. Now, we're a fan of Adana's cucumber yogurt. I could eat it all day long. The chicken koobideh was tender and juicy inside on a bed of fluffy basmati rice. The lamb, although cooked well done was very tender. Also delicious and no gaminess either. Service was fantastic. The waiter checked on us often. Another gentleman working there gave us a refill on the pita and water. They were so friendly and the food was so good, we are definitely coming back. My friend loves Raffi's food but hates their service, ditto. Now that we found Adana, we'll probably ditch Raffi's altogether and just come here. Price is really reasonable. Throw in great food and service, and it could become one of our favorite restaurants. Looking forward to trying out the pork ribs and cornish hen on the next visit. read more

I have been there twice now. The food will fill anyone up and all for around 6 or 7 bucks. The Koobideh kabob is great (chicken or beef). The hummus is honestly the best I've had. Amazing taste to it and the the rice is good as well. This is the best bang for the buck considering quantity and quality. I'm a loyal customer from now on. The Shish kabob is worth a try too. My Dinner with Adana... ...brought to mind words like exquisite and ecstatic. It was Friday night after a long week and I wanted to treat myself. I did a Yelp search for best case scenario: inexpensive ($) and highly rated (4.5 stars) and nearby and open. Adana popped up. The first thing I did was check the photos. I don't care what the food looks like, what does the interior of the restaurant look like? I wanted someplace that was quiet and tasteful and felt like a treat, with no television for radio blaring in the background. The interior looked surprisingly elegant, so I drove to the (inelegant) neighborhood where Adana resides and went in, and it was perfect -- lovely decor and lighting. There was a family there having an adult conversation, and light piano music playing in the background. No kids. Just me and these adult siblings having an interesting conversation, and a lovely, low-lit, understated, and otherwise completely empty one-room restaurant. I ordered beef shish kabob with hummus and tzatziki and hoped it would be decent. Ha -- It was so exceptional! I had to close my eyes to savor each bite. The menu described the beef as 'flap meat' (yuck) but all I can say is that it was the most luscious, mouth-watering, perfect steak I've tasted in years. The hummus and cucumber yogurt were equally amazing, as were the honey cake and fresh mint tea -- that reminded me of Morocco! And the entire dinner (after a 20% tip) was under $27. The waiters were quiet and deferential -- and passionate, eager to know what I thought of the food -- and thrilled by my response. By now more people were arriving, and the place was filling up with friends and couples. This had been exactly the "treat" I'd been looking for, though so much better than I'd imagined. I am not a foodie or connoisseur (and frankly I don't eat out a lot) but next time I want an elegant, "expensive" dinner that fits my somewhat budget -- I'll be back! read more

Are here with a group - 5 adults, 3 kids - and everything we ate was outstanding. Favorites were the avocado and fattoush salads, the fried eggplant, and the pickles, but the meat was delicious too. The staff are incredibly nice. We definitely plan to become regulars. read more

But to talk to someone who has never been there before as if people should know better and then to hang up on me? We chose Adana based on yelp reviews to celebrate our mother's birthday yesterday. It was our first time at this restaurant, and I was a little anxious about the quality of the food and service. It just happened to be the Oscar's night and the restaurant was not crowded at all. The service was fast, multiple waitresses kept checking on us to make sure the food was good and the glasses were full. There were eight of us, and we ordered a lot of different appetizers, kabobs, salads, dolma and a number of other dishes. The portions are huge at this restaurnat, so make sure you don't come here with a full stomach. Everything was very fresh and very good. I really liked their kabobs, it was well done yet very juicy and tender. The rice with saffron was perfect. The vegetable salad they serve with kabobs, simply delicious. They even allowed us to take our birthday cake for only $10 service fee. They don't serve alcohol, so take your own alcoholic beverage with you. The bill at the end of the party was a little confusing to understand. It was a long list of $ amounts, without itemization. But overall, it was worth it, and I did not mind paying the stated amount because we had amazing time and had excellent service. I will return for sure. read more

As others have mentioned on here it's a bit weird walking into an empty dining room, but the food made it worth it. Several people came by for take out orders while were were there. The lunch specials feature a sumptuous grilled entree, seasoned rice (wide variety of kinds), pita bread, and your choice of two sides. The best bang for the buck!!! I will start off by saying that my family and I were super starving and being from the south bay, we didn't know of any place to eat, so...yelp! And we found this place, doors wide open, no one in sight, looks like a creepy ballroom with just tables and chairs and a door leading to the kitchen with a one way mirror. After 10 minutes of waiting, I decided to check door number 1, behold a human being! He promptly took out the menu and disappeared again. So it was so creepy that I drafted a horror story and scared the family that they refused to drink the water. Then came the food which was so heavenly, the koobideh, the lamb, bingo! I always order delivery and the food arrives piping hot usually within 30-40 minutes, or I'll order take out. I think dining there is best suited for large groups. This great spot may not look like a restaurant but it most certainly is one of the freshest, most inexpensive healthiest meals you can have. My husband and I are hooked on ordering the chicken kabob (breast) lunch special with mixed green salad. A great value! Not to mention the weight we have lost since we started eating here. Everything is great, right? Ehhh, service at this place is slowwww. The guy doesn't really speak English that well either. I'd stick with the point method. I would love to write a great review, but I have not eaten here. I have not seen the menu. Nor have I had even a sip of water from the restaurant. I have not sat at a set table. I have not been greeted. But I did go here. My wife and I for lunch. After standing for ten minutes we seated ourselves at a partially bussed table. We sat for ten minutes while staff passed us by and departed after realizing that being served lunch within the hour was not likely. They knew we were here in theory. Our one communication was to be directed to said partially bussed table. It was clear they were busy, and we were prepared for a wait. Personally, I think this matches it and I liked the taste even better. It was not crowded at all. Great service in every regards. This is going to be my new take-visiting-friends-and-family-to-joint. Here's the specifics from our order: Beef Shish Kebab - Amazing. Very flavorful and tender. Chicken Thigh Kebab - Good, juicy tender. The server recommended the cornish kebab so we'll have to try that next time. Grape Leaves - Do not miss these. The best I've had by far. Meaty, tender, not sour, perfect. Rice - About what you expect from this cuisine. Tabbouleh - not as finely chopped as I'm used to but good Hummus - Good. We went for the grape leaves appetizer, split a combo plate, and got another kebab ala cart and it came out at $40 even. Well worth it. read more

Our family have been to Adana a few times and have always been very satisfied with the starters and the quality of the meats in the kababs. The rice portions though are rather small, more so if you order family style. What I have to add to the discussion here is about the prices not on the menu. Last time we went to with a party of 7 with one bottle of wine. The waitress then brought out our de-corked bottle and 7 drinking glasses. Odd. We poured out the wine and had a toast. Then water decanters and wine glasses were brought, which the waiter insisted we take. Odd again. We then ordered 4 appetizers and 5 kabab plates, two of which had Zereshk and Sirin rice, along with the "served with 2" dishes like 4 roasted tomatoes. We had a festive time. Then the bill came. Corkage was $20. In addition, use of the glasses cost $2. each. Total $34. for drinking one bottle of our own wine. Extras tomatoes were charged $2. each though each person had a half. And the owner explained that since we ordered flavored rice instead of regular rice, that was $2. more for each person though we had only ordered two out of five of these dishes. That was about $40. of unexpected charges. I did not want to upset our good spirit, so I did not complain. Very good food, but these hidden prices are very disturbing. This has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants. We live in Santa Monica so the drive to Glendale is trek. However it is so, SO worth it. I love Armenian food and Adana is probably some of the best I've had. The food is so flavorful and of such fresh, high quality. The presentation is also very nice. The cheese plate is my go-to dish. The cheese paired with the bread and fresh vegetables they serve with is just so ridiculously delicious. Other dishes I love are the dolmas (make sure to order a large order because the small is not enough for even two people), eggplant dish, persian salad and chicken koobideh. It's always very consistent. All the servers here seem pleasant but Mario is the nicest server here. Very attentive, kind and knowledgeable about the different dishes. read more
