I have to give this place 5 stars. It's great place to have lunch at a great price. SERVICE: 5 STARS The service was great. Not sure if that's how they always are or because we went with someone we knew. But the people were great. The food came out quickly and the waiters were attentive with us. LOCATION: 5 STARS It's on San Fernando which could get a little a busy but there is parking on the side of the restaurant and street parking. The inside of the restaurant is pretty nice and big. Plenty of tables. The place almost looks like an events hall for weddings or quinceañeras. FOOD: 4 STARS the food seems very authentic. The menu has a wide selection of beef, chicken, lamb, pork and even vegetarian options. CHICKEN BREAST KABOB PLATE: 4 STARS I had it with the salad and yogurt which also came with rice. I cleaned my plate. Except for the salad which was a mix of onions, tomatoes, onions and mint leaves. I think it was the mint leaves that made me leave some behind. However, the rice and chicken all gone. The rice was great. We also shared a large order of HUMMUS (5 STARS) which we had with comp pita bread. Exceptional food! I'm an Armenian, and fairly good cook myself, if I may say so. I went there for dinner with my son to check out this place, and possibly to place a catering order for my birthday party. We both are well traveled picky eaters with high standards for good food. Adana did not disappoint - everything we ordered was very tasty, the service was attentive, obliging, and colorful. I was grateful for not hearing glaring music that is so common in most Armenian restaurants. I placed a catering order at the end of our meal. Yesterday was the day I placed the order for. Everything was ready, when I arrived, and loaded promptly into my trank. All my guests were praising the spread of food, and asking, where is it from. Each appetizer and salad tasted amazing, and my gluten- free and vegetarian friends were very happy with variety and quality of food. I will definitely patron Adana in the future, and it will be my first pick for catering orders for sure. read more

Wow...the food at Adana I will forever remember this place as the restaurant that made me realize I actually do like lamb. I've never liked how gamey lamb can be, but Adana's lamb is not gamey, just tender and flavorful. I love the saffron rice and the salmon is also a must-have every time we go. In fact, my friend didn't like fish at all until he tried Adana's salmon, and now he loves it. Adana's not just serving delicious food...it's changing people's minds about it. read more

Friends recommended Adana for dinner, and given the high Yelp Ratings we naturally followed up. We were certainly not disappointed! The kebobs were juicy, moist and we'll seasoned. The hummus was the smoothest we've had the pleasure of trying. The avocado salad was delicious and quickly devoured. Our server was great and the owner came out and checked on us a few times to make sure everything was good. It wasn't! It was GREAT! Had an appointment nearby and dropped in on a weekend afternoon. I was originally concerned because there was only one table occupied and the restaurant had very little character or decor... but the food was AMAZING. I was so surprised and delighted. The olivieh appetizer was a large serving and is the best I've ever had at a restaurant and the Khoresh Bademjan (eggplant stew) was phenomenal as well. We ordered dolmeh, lamb chop and a combo plate. Everything was delicious. I usually do not like grape leaves because it has a distinctive taste. But I really enjoyed it here and it was the perfect way to start off a meal. Lamb chop was juicy. Combo plate came with beef, chicken and koobideh. All of them were amazing. I was surprised at how tender and succulent the chicken was. Favorite was koobideh. Loved their seasonings as well. Bf loved the hummus here but I didn't like it as much. Ok I'm a little late but I feel like my conscience would not let me rest until I finally write this review. Last month I had an office birthday lunch and I chose Adana. My first experience and it exceeded my expectations. I called the day before and placed an order for 12 people, the owner was so funny and kind. He was earnest and made sure I didn't over order. When you walk in, you can see the entire family cooking in the back. It just makes you appreciate this restaurant so much more. The food was soooooo good. The ribs were great. The kabobs were great. Still the best kept secret in LA!! Jonathan Gold loved this place and always had it on his top 100 list. Best Persian/Armenian/Mediterranean restaurant in Glendale. Actually, in Los Angeles. The restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall that is rarely packed. But they do a large catering business, so they don't depend on lunch diners. But...when you eat here, you can't believe there isn't a line to get in. Amazing lamb chops, best salmon dish in LA, local mezes like ajika and Persian salads...you just have to experience it. Wowzerz. This place is DELISH. It's a bit of a hole in the wall location, so don't let that deter you. I came in with a craving for lamb stew. They had a beef stew that looked yummy, so I asked for them to put the lamb into the stew. The nice gentleman that took my order said he'd be happy to put it on the side for me, but was reluctant to put it in the stew upfront. I took one bite of the lamb and totally understood why!! It was so tender and spiced perfectly, and it absolutely hit the spot. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The stew was also hearty and delicious, and the beef so incredibly tender and perfect. There was also a generous portion of rice (with the nice hardy saffron included), a chopped salad, yogurt and pita (two kinds - soft and a spiced, baked chip that had a nice bite to it). I'm pretty sure this was the best middle eastern restaurant I've visited. The first thing that jumped out at me was the freshness of the ingredients. Incredible how that comes through in the taste. Whenever I visit a restaurant for the first time, I'm always drawn by the combo plate. I didn't stray from that this time either. Three skewers of meat (beef, chicken, and koobideh) accompanied saffron rice. Of the different sides offered, I picked the hummus and Persian salad. I am definitely going to try the others, including yogurt cucumber and barbecued tomatoes, on my next visit. The meat was perfectly marinated with spices. There were layers of flavors that were enhanced by the fire from the grill. I also appreciated that each skewer had a different taste. I realize that sounds silly, but I've been to restaurants where they use the same marinade for everything. That's not the case here. I loved how tender the meat was. Plus, there was a lot of it. It could easily be saved as leftovers for a second meal, but I really couldn't resist. I definitely over-extended myself, because I wanted to finish the sides as well. The hummus was deliciously creamy. The salad was also very satisfying. It contained chunks of marinaded cucumber and tomatoes, covered in fragrant herbs. I think there was shiso leaves in there too. As if this wasn't enough, we got a side of their avocado salad. It was mixed with onions and herbs in a great dressing. I enjoyed that as well. Throughout dinner, there was a constant parade of regulars coming and going with take-out. I guess they built a loyal following. The owner went around the tables checking on everyone. His pride added a dimension to the taste of the food. Plus, he was such a nice guy. I dropped my wallet on my way out. I realized as I was driving home that night and called the restaurant. He called right back after he looked around for it, and then held it for me to pick up the following day. read more

The location isn't great and the parking lot is small, however there was plenty of parking in the residential area nearby. The inside was very dark and there weren't many tables set up. It seemed like they were more set-up for takeout. The menu had a wide assortment of items that I never tried before. Everything sounded good, but it would help to have some pictures to see what they looked like. The food was spot-on. You can tell that the chef but a lot of thought into each dish. Prices were reasonable and the portion size was generous. I hope to come back and try some other dishes someday. read more

Can't say enough good things about the food here. The igra (eggplant dip) is sooo good. Flavorful and served with onions/parsley and pita chips/pita bread on the side! For $6 you get a small which is a perfect size for an appetizer. The entrees are HUGE and big enough to share. I got the combination plate, which comes with chicken koobideh, tender pieces of beef, and beef koobideh ($20). My friend prefers chicken breast meat and so she asked if she could get it exchanged for that and our server, Mario asked the kitchen and they did it for us free of charge. It was really kind of them and great service. We also upgraded to cherry rice and orange peel rice on the side which are both soooo flavorful and tasty. And they serve so much! You get to choose two small sides with the entree and we got hummus and yogurt dip. Both were incredible. I'd definitely recommend the yogurt dip since it goes very well with the meats. The beef was INCREDIBLE. I've seriously never had such well-marinated meat at a Mediterranean restaurant. I could eat that forever and be happy. The beef koobideh is also very flavorful and delicious, though I have to say I prefer the shish kebab pieces slightly more! Definitely give this place a try. It's so worth it. read more

From the outside, you can't even tell this is a restaurant! It's in the part of San Fernando Road where it's a little industrial but this is a hidden gem. The restaurant was a little empty when we walked in and we were seated right away. The server came to greet us and brought us waters. The menu is pretty straight forward! I ordered the chicken kebab with white meat. It came with 2 sides - I got the tomato and cucumber salad and hummus! They bring you pita for the table to share. The serving size was HUGE. The rice was overflowing on my plate. I couldnt even finish it! The chicken was perfectly cooked and very juicy. I loved everything I ate and so did my dinnermates! I made the mistake of taking my husband aka the Persian food snob with me. I really do understand the dilemma all of you face when you know how to cook and you refrain from dining out because you know you can cook better than a lot of people. My husband is one of those people because he knows how to cook Persian food and his family had a restaurant in Iran. Needless to say I cannot remember finding a restaurant that he will go to more than once if they serve Mediterranean food. One of my best friends told me she loved Adana, so I couldn't wait to check it out. I just popped in there one day for lunch all by myself and I thought the restaurant was closed because they forgot to put the "Open Sign" up. I ended up pulling on the door handle anyway and lo and behold it was open. So I walk in and there was one customer sitting at a table and I just plopped myself down at a table. A few minutes later a waiter comes walking through the door from the kitchen. I've been hooked on chicken koobideh kabobs lately so I just ordered the chicken koobideh kabob. The lunch is served with rice and two sides. I ordered the hummus and yogurt with cucumber. There was no salad with some type of lettuce to speak of which I would have loved. The second time I went I dragged the Persian food snob with me. Big mistake and I should know by now. My husband did not care for the fact that the chicken koobideh was mixed with baking soda. That gives it a hard shell on the outside. He also didn't like that the dolmeh was served ice cold. This made us both think that it was made who knows when and refrigerated for who knows how long. We both like them warm. The hummus is alright, but they don't add lemon juice. The kashke bademjan was good for me, but just alright for the Persian food snob. He likes it when it is all blended up and creamy. I will definitely go back sans the Persian food snob. read more

Spurred on by a Jonathan Gold review, as well as two positive reviews by Yelpers I trust implicitly (Gary I and Steph C), it was time to give my craving for good stuffed grape leaves the satisfaction it deserved. And boy was I satisfied! I had driven by Adana literally hundreds of times and never noticed its modest storefront. Make sure you've got the address or you'll zip right past it. Parking was easy (on the street). The interior is decorated in muted tones, with modern interpretations of classical music playing softly in the background. Service was impeccable. Starting with a cold yogurt drink which was perfectly seasoned, I immediately ordered the stuffed grape leaves as an appetizer. Served with a dill yogurt dip, they were fantastic. If there's one thing that ruins stuffed grapes leaves, it's stringy tough leaves; these grape leaves were soft, melt-in-your-mouth with a lovely filling. Throwing caution to the wind, I then ordered the lamb chop kabob lunch special. The SECOND I took a bite, I knew I had made the right choice. Perfectly tender, perfectly seasoned, these lamb chops were some of the best I've ever had. Served over rice pilaf, the lunch special included two sides (I picked the hummus and Persian Salad.) The hummus was light and flavorful and the Persian salad was really tasty, too. The honey cake with coffee made for a happy ending. Portions are gigantic! I took home enough for two small meals. Oh, this place may be misleading from the outside, but once you enter it is astounding. Stylish ceilings and walls down to the wood flooring and nicely designed tables. Waiters are up to par with a great welcome and prompt seating, excellent service. For a starter, I tried the lentil soup which I immensely enjoyed. I chose a dinner salad since I'm really not into tomatoes and cucumbers and they accommodated me with a tasty ranch salad dressing. Pita bread was split with one side regular pita and the other side had a similar pita but cooked crispier with a garlic taste to it. And dipping that in the creamy hummus, I just loved this . Shish kabob.... aaaah... the best for last..couldn't have asked for anything better. Medium cooked with a slight red inside just steaming hot on my plate with a nice aroma. This is a good spot for middle easter/persian food. The dining room itself is a little drab, but you're coming here for the food.....or to get a to go order. I know the persian salad is popular, but the fattoush is the salad to get. 50/50 success rate on whether they'd let you sub the fattoush for the persian salad w your meal. Chicken koobideh is the best kebab I've had but they are all above average. In my opinion the food here is better than Raffi's, but the ambience at Raffi's is equally superior. The person who gave this place a 1 star review is on drugs. I went here based on a recommendation of a friend, who's sister swears by this place. My friend sent me the NYT article and one afternoon I decided to give it a try. I live in Glendale, so kabob places abound. I've been to all the usual places, Rafis, Zankou, Kabob Factory, Sevan meat market. They're all very good places, but Adana is different enough that I would highly recommend that anybody who loves kabobs give it a try. First off, they have pork. What kabob place do you know that serves pork. Not only do they have pork, they have these pork spare ribs that I would kill for. Holy crap were they good. Ihad ordered the baghali polo as mentioned in the NYT article, but overhear the owner talking to a customer about the pork. So I decided to try it. THIS IS A MUST! You must try to the pork spare ribs. They were juicy (the right amount of fat), crispy and had a fantastic flavor. The other meats were very good. The chicken and beef were very tender, well seasoned and better tasting than other places, but the pork absolutely stood out for me.
