I had an exceptional experience with Adapt to It and their installation expert, Steve. At the store I was consulted on the options available for my mother who was coming home from a nursing facility following an injury. It was recommended that Steve pay an on site visit to recommend best practices for her condition. Steve was prompt, honest, caring and had great ideas. He was able to install the recommended solution on the same day and it has been a great success. I almost bought one at the CVS in the same shopping center, but the box was ripped, it required assembly, there were no shopping carts and no employees available to help. I am a caregiver, and I purchased a nebulizer from this great store, "Adapt 2 It", a while back for my patient. She had a couple problems with the unit, (which ended up being her user error). But every time I brought it in, they would fix it promptly, usually at no charge to us!! I cannot say enough about the customer service, and they have such a giant stock of items to choose from; right in the store, it's really wonderful! My patient also bought a new wheelchair here, it is much lighter, (I was having trouble loading and unloading the old one) it was so heavy! My mother-in-law ordered 10 boxes of masks in February and they finally arrived. I went to pick them up and there was an issue because the masks that she ordered didn't come, they only had a more premium (and expensive) brand of masks. The lady at the counter said that she would go ahead and upgrade us at no additional charge for the premium masks so that we didn't have to wait further for the masks. My 90 yr old mom needed to rent a wheelchair after a recent stay at the hospital. Initially we rented for a week and the staff was very helpful in finding the appropriate equipment for her needs. As it turned out, her recovery was slow and she needed the wheelchair for a while longer. Instead of charging us for an additional week, they used our one week rental payment toward a monthly rental which saved us quite a bit of money (instead of going weekly until she finally recovered). I felt that the staff in general was exceedingly helpful and went beyond the call of duty to get us the right equipment and the best price. This place has a prime location in Laguna Woods. That is the only thing they have going for them. I went there on a Saturday with my mom after her surgery to get a walker. They had a good selection, but she needed a smaller one and they didn't have them. They called up their supplier to order the one she wanted. Whoever they were speaking to at the supplier said that they would need to call back on Monday to speak to their credit department before they could place an order. They didn't have the credit to order a $200-300 walker. We then asked about Medicare billing and he said they don't be bill Medicare. We would need to pay for it and then go through Medicare ourselves. She had a prescription... So, I would recommend that you don't go here. They don't have credit to order items only valued at a few hundred dollars and they don't (can't?) bill Medicare for you. read more

Within a week I lost both my canes!! But that's another story. I didn't want one of those metal CVS type canes that make one look older than one wants to be. I wanted something unique, distinctive and artistic like I had before. I was looking everywhere with no luck. Then I discovered Adapt 2 It. And it was practically within walking distance from my home!! Talk about friendly people! There must have been four or five people to greet, help and welcome me. It's been quite a while since I've had the feeling of really being appreciated that much in a store. So first I saw a big display of the bright and ugly metal canes, thinking oh crap, more of the same. So I explained what I wanted and voilà, I saw a whole barrel of exactly what I was looking for. Jackpot!!! It was not difficult to find what I was looking for: a cool natural tree root cane like I had lost. But then I was shown something very different: a Turkish antique ebony cane with mother of pearl inlay throughout the staff. It was not what I was looking for, not like any cane I'd seen before, and definitely NOT what I was expecting to spend. But being an international antique dealer for 40 years taught me that when I see something beautiful, unique and well made by hand I just gotta spend the money and freaking buy it! So that's exactly what I did!! I bought it! And soooo glad I did. So what if it was way over my budget. I'll just find somewhere else to save. One thing I've learned in my 69 years on this planet: when I see something really beautiful, and even if you can just barely afford it, you gotta just buy it. Afterward I forget the pain of spending too much (I honestly don't even remember what I paid for it) and have the pleasure of owning a unique piece of art. No regrets! Adapt 2 It is the kind of store I'd feel comfortable to just drop in and just shoot the sh*t; which I probably will and find another cool cane and start a little collection. I remember when I owned Steven-Thomas Antiques our clients would come in just to see Wolfgang, my welcoming Rottweiler, and end up spending quite a large chunk of change on something unexpected to see. I never woulda thought a medical supply store would be one of my go-to stores. But I guess when you are almost 70, you trade South Coast Plaza for your favorite medical supply store! I was in need of some honest help with a scooter l purchased at another scooter place, Adapt 2 It stepped up to the job that Senior.Com of Irvine would not help . The scooter was under warranty and they ( Adapt 2 It, Adrian Pena took charge ) and got the job done. This scooter was 6 months old when this started and it had to have 3 parts replaced. When l bought it, l was told it was new , l found out it was an older model and l even had to replace the battery which was an extended battery to last longer and go more miles. Adrian the the man who has helped him many times in the past was GREAT he has been over to my Aunt and Uncles house on numerous occasions to help him . This is my favorite store to recommend to anyone needing medical equipment, anything related for senior care, you'll find it here. You can rent wheelchairs or hospital beds too. You can order online as well! On top of having everything you may need to make our seniors comfortable at home, their customer service is top notch. The owners Leslie and Butch are hard workers and so very busy yet they are always so warm, welcoming, attentive and helpful. Also Lorie their awesome Liason is just as sweet, knowledgeable and professional. Adrian is also my favorite! I was there over the weekend with about 10 mins before they were closing and Leslie took the time to look for the right transport wheelchair for my mama. My mom has slowed down a lot and gets tired quickly when she walks so she was elated when I surprised her with the wheelchair. I periodically visit this store because it's close to work, but their customer service is iffy at best. Once I needed my mother's lift chair repaired, was told the person that handles that was out of the store but would ABSOLUTELY call me that afternoon. Two days later, haven't heard from them, called again and same story. They never did call back.... Twice I have called to check if they have an item in stock, be assured that they did, and waste a trip to the store to find out NO, they don't....but they have this instead, it will work! Uh, no, it won't. Not sure if this is just poor stock control or if they're the kind of business that will never admit that no, they really don't have that item, hoping to get you in the store and sell you something else, Oh, and the parking in this center is terrible..... Save yourself some grief and check out Cal-Med pharmacy. EXCELLENT customer service. read more

This is a place that stands behind their product! My 90 year-old mom and I decided to take a walk/scooter ride Thursday. The battery showed two green lights and two yellow lights so I thought we were okay to go a mile or so but half way there it quit! I called Adapt-to-It and Adrian came to us, snapped in a new battery and took the other one for testing. In hindsight we should have charged it the night before, but we really thought we had enough "life" for our excursion. He will test our battery just in case it needs replacing. I cannot sing high enough praises for Adapt 2 It! This is a family run business, which is why I guess it has such a personal touch. Adapt 2It carries a large variety of supplies for someone who has a disability. They have everything from wheelchairs to cast covers. I was grateful for their great service. I am a nurse so I knew most of what I needed for a disease I have. It is slowly taking away my mobility among other things. It is a different experience as a nurse to live on both sides of care. Leslie who is one of the owners along her husband, is an occupational therapist. She told me that she started this business because her patients didn't have a convenient place to purchase health aide equipment. What was nice and unexpected is she was able to anticipate what I might need in the future with my disease process. Frankly, I didn't want to even think about it because it was too depressing. However, I am glad that I listened because I needed the equipment sooner than I thought I would. They also have a service that again asks questions about what you need for the home in order to live in a safe environment. I had hand rails added to the bathrooms and I am so glad that I did! They also have a service that is available for a nominal fee to install all types of medical equipment. I was impressed as well with the excellent job they did with the installation. If you are needing any type of medical equipment do yourself a favor and visit Adapt 2 It. You will be glad that you did! read more

My wife suddenly had a health issue that required grab bars in the bathroom. I walked in on a whim to ask about bars while taking a break from the hospital room she was in (Adapt is in a perfect location, BTW, I saw it when I went to the deli in the same building). Steve strongly suggested that he come to my house and make a site survey to assess any needs that I had that I might not have known of. Steve did NOT try to upsell me, the only grab bar locations that he recommended were places I had already decided on. Another example of him NOT upselling me was in advising that I could do most of the installations myself, while. at the same time, advising that he should do the installation in the shower itself; he had tools and expertise that I did not. Steve returned to the house and installed the grab bar in my shower. He then went above-and-beyond and asked if I wanted him help me with the others, at no charge. I declined, liking having a handyman task of my own to do. But, I sent him photos of my finished work and he indicated that it looked OK. When the bill came (yeah, they sent a bill rather than demanding payment up front), Adapt's markup on the shower bar was about the same as Home Depot's. The bill quoted the hourly labor rate, but then Steve took off about 40% because "we chatted a lot". the bill was more than reasonable. I hope you don't need their service, but if you do, I cannot recommend more highly. Ask for Steve. read more

If it is not carried in store, they can order it and have catalogs to view desired product, or equipment. The owner Leslie is an Occupational Therapist and is dedicated to helping people. The homeless shelter recently received a new transport van that is wheelchair capable and Leslie donated a new wheelchair to the shelter. She has a dedicated team of staff and offers a wide variety of product, medical equipment and services. This store is certainly an asset to our local community! Staff were generally great and accommodating with an issue that arose. I marked them down because one of the staff members (she seemed to be a manager, since she came out of the back office to assist when other staff were busy) approached me with no mask while talking right next to an elderly customer. I stopped her and said she needed to wear a mask. She put down a face shield, saying she was wearing a mask. That is utterly inadequate, and to say otherwise given all the evidence is reckless, particularly at a health care supply store. She did stay across the room and let me drop off my return at the door, but I was very unimpressed. read more

The young lady that sold me the merchandise was very polite and helpful in helping me find exactly what I wanted/needed. The color of Lift Chair was not in stock but could be delivered in a week. A week passed and just as promised, I received a phone call asking me when it would be convenient, for me, to have them make the delivery. Can't tell you how pleased I am with the service we received today. Getting a wheelchair through Medicare is a pain & long, long wait. I decided to just buy one for my mom but what she needed (petite) is not common and very expensive. Adrian Pena listened to our needs and was able to get exactly what we needed for less than half what I was going to have to pay with a custom chair. He took the time to let us try other chairs to make sure we were happy with our final purchase. Everyone in that store was kind and helpful the past 2 days while I was researching options, prices, etc. Adrian even followed us home to deliver the chair so I wouldn't have to make 2 trips. I highly caution anyone from buying large ticket items that may require service. The first complaint, however, involves billing. Leslie, the owner, said that they would bill Medicare for my lift chair. All of the paperwork was provided to the store. Months went by and nothing was billed to Medicare. Two inquiring calls were made to the store with no avail. Finally, after involving the BBB, and 8 months, they billed Medicare. Secondly, attempting to receive service is another challenging, if not impossible, task. One must repeatedly call and pin them down to a time of visit. We finally gave up the idea that they would repair the chair's arms and continue to use them in their broken state. BE AWARE OF WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO WHEN YOU DEAL WITH THIS STORE. I had a VERY positive experience with the staff at Adapt-2-It. My 95 year old father had problems with his electric scooter that was purchased from the store about 2-years ago. Butch and Adrian were the two gentlemen I mostly worked with. They provided me with options and outstanding service. Repairs were completed at a price less than what I was quoted and they assisted me with obtaining alternate options for my father while his scooter was being repaired.
