Once I was there, I experienced an excessive wait and was provided a vehicle in questionable condition. Staff stated I was required to purchase their liability coverage because my personal auto insurance did not provide $300,000 in third-party liability coverage. This is a trap to charge people. Upon return of the car I was charged additional $350 cleaning fee for some sand, charges for missing gallon of gas etc. They lied to my face while I was still in the building stating that my car was ispected and no additional charges would follow, and provided smaller bill. Such a scam. Took 2 hours for a shuttle to come pick me up from the airport. Then i waited in the line for another hour and a half (with a reservation/already paid for the rental car mind you!!) Everyone in line before us kept having issues with their cards as they all kept being "declined" because their bank was recognizing it as fraud. Classic bait and switch: reserved a toyota rav 4 online thru expedia. Called when we landed they didn't pick up the phone for 40 mins and there was no shuttle in the designated area like our confirmation email stated. A 2000 dollar deposit for security which was not made clear at reservation time. Then i was getting a kia telluride which was considerably larger than we wanted but i do own one so the transition would have been very easy as im familiar with the car. Then they want your insurance info, which ours was fine but if it wasnt what are you supposed to do at that point? That should be discussed before reserving. Now come the best part: counter guy continues to interrupt our transaction taking phone calls speaking in spanish. My husband is fluent and can overhear them discussing that we were there in front of him and three hour wait for a car etc. he gets off the phone and says he's sorry but no SUV you can have a toyota corrolla. At this point 45 mins after my scheduled pick up time I flipped and said nope get the shuttle back and they took us back to the airport. From the moment my travel companions and I arrived, it was clear this rental experience was not going to be a good one. Travelers and renters beware! This company is terrible. I had to book a compact car rental while my car was being repaired. Through Expedia, I prepaid the full amount for a 19 day rental. When we arrived, right out of the gate, the attendant was extremely rude for no clear reason. I think he was prepared to have an upset customer. When I gave him the usual license and credit card, he snapped 'give me your insurance declaration pages'. It took me a few to pull it up on my phone. After review, he informed me that I would pay $15/day for declining their insurance and using my own coverage. When I asked why he snapped 'its in the Terms & Conditions'. When I argued this he just continued to repeat this. I eventually asked to cancel this as the charge would double my rental fee. I noted the invoice notes 'All taxes and fees included'. He just told me to leave and take it up with the booking agent. When I contacted Expedia, I got ZERO support as the 'admin fee' for declining their coverage is buried in their T&C. It makes not sense, but they have created this convenient bait and switch so either you cancel and incur the rental cost as you are deemed a 'no show' OR you must rent and pay double what you prepaid. A bit too long to get the car as there was only one counter person. The company required $300k liability AND $300k personal injury. I did pay a nominal fee to close the gap. There is a credit card hold. Mine was $300. Car was nice. Clean in and out. No odors. Tiny bits of wear & tear damage but was videoed upon delivery. Everyone of us who were there left without a car. Additionally they guy there is very rude and will call his friends to talk about you in Spanish and use very derogatory language.
