The wait time at port canaveral was quite long, as they sequence the cars coming in. There are not enough seats in air conditioning for what I reckon is probably a daily influx of people waiting over an hour for their cars. Customer service people were nice, car worked fine. However.... Hertz has become a company like Air B&B where you need to be very very careful to document EVERYTHING. This is the second time in several months that I had a bogus fee. (The first time was in Boston when they claimed I returned it a day later than I did.). Picked up my car from Hertz rental when I landed in Orlando, Florida on Thursday it was easy because I am a goal. Member services were good. Only thing I had a problem with was paying an extra $13 for an extra hour and bringing the car back not at noon but maybe at 1 o'clock that I may not use I think it should be a grace period when you're returning a car anything over an hour Hertz should charged $13 but I don't think you have to pay for it upfront especially if you do not use it. A 15 to 35 minute or either.45 minutes over the time. I have rented cars and had to wait. Sometimes when you're waiting for them to bring your car because the car hasn't been returned. read more

Tolls-- Be weary that if you use your on toll transponder, it is some how blocked in the car and will not be charged. Instead, you'll get a $40 fee plus the cost of the tolls billed by Plate Pass. I have 4 tolls at $1-$2 each RT or $10. Now, I received a toll bill for $57.00 for those tolls. I placed my transponder on the dashboard of the car, but it did not register when I went through tolls. Why not? Register Transponder: In order for your tolls to register using your own transponder, you'll have to register the tag number of the rental car so that it can be charged to you directly. That way, you'll avoid paying a $40 fee & excalated toll charges beyond what the state charges. Insurance-- I asked for the $35 per day insurance and the agent charged me the $85 per day insurance. They get you to sign off on the paperwork so rapidly by acting super busy and you don't get a chance to read the fine print. Don't let them rush you. Read it, circle what you select, & before you leave the rental company sit & read the contact again carefully. read more

Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish. From the rude clerks who did not explain anything like how the Sunpass works or that you need exact change for tolls, to the seemingly miserable employees in the garage, just an overall awful experience. Take pictures/video of everything. Our first car had extensive scratching on the bumper. We luckily noticed one of the original car tires was low upon entering the vehicle so we requested another. After denying that it was due to the "cold" 60 degree temp... they agreed to give us another but my husband had to go walk back around to the terminal to switch. Very inconvenient, especially when traveling with young children. The whole ordeal deal took over an hour extra which caused us to skip our plans once we landed. It really was a shame. read more

On February 8, 2026, I rented a vehicle from Hertz at Orlando International Airport (Reservation FLORL16/0132416). The Hertz agent falsely told me that LIS (Loss/Damage Insurance) was required by Florida law and mandatory for the rental. This is categorically false - LIS is optional, as clearly stated on my own rental agreement under "Additional Products." I was fraudulently coerced into purchasing LIS. I have rented from other companies at this same airport (Budget) and have never been told insurance was legally required. When I contacted Hertz customer service on February 10th and 11th requesting a refund, I received two identical scripted responses refusing to address the fraudulent charge until after my rental ends on February 22nd - an obvious delay tactic. I am seeking a full refund for insurance that was misrepresented as legally mandatory when it was entirely optional. The agent's statement that Florida law requires LIS is fraud and violates consumer protection laws. read more

I picked up the car on Wednesday 2-8-2025 at 16:25. I wanted to return the car on Sunday 2-16-2025 at 10 am but was unable to do the fact the you were closed. I returned the car this morning at 11:12 am. Today at 16:25 would mark exactly five days ago that the car was in my possession. Returning it at 11:12 is around five hours less then five days total that I had the car. I was charged for six days and no one is giving me any answers other than that's how you charge. As a result of you cheating your paying customers, I will be documenting all of this, forwarding any all all information to the BBB and Department of Agriculture. On November 25th 2025 I rented a car for a week-long family vacation from the Orlando International Airport Hertz Rental office. We checked out at 4:42 p.m. and drove to visit our family in Lakeland. My mother also had another car reservation from Hertz that we canceled prior to arriving at the airport. The Hertz office is claiming that my mother also rented a car at 5:20 p.m. that same day in a different vehicle and returned it three days later with a total of 27 miles driven. This information is absolutely incorrect, as my mother was in the vehicle with me as I drove off from the airport and we drove to visit our family in Lakeland. We have credit card receipts that are time stamped from over 30 miles away around the same time that have been submitted to Hertz. They are refusing to refund over $600 for the car rental that never happened. Do not rent from the Orlando Hertz car rental office. They have an internal employee problem that is stealing people's identification and renting cars for personal use. The Hertz office is also claiming that they will not provide any information or footage of the checkout of the vehicle that supposedly my mother used. We have been trying to resolve this issue with Hertz since November and have not received any solution. We are just seeking to have the claimed car rental reimbursed. read more

I landed in Orlando and realized that I really needed a car based on my final destination. Georgette was fantastic and really helped me get what I needed in under 25 minutes. I really thought I was going to be stuck, but to my surprise everything was handled greatly. When I finally got to my car, I realized I may need a bigger trunk, so I ended up working with Lynda at the outside kiosk. She was able to get me switched no problem. All in all, these two many did what they needed to do because I will now consider Hertz every time I am renting a car. read more

I had a car reserved in advance and at 10:30 pm when I arrive at the hertz counter it is closed. I had to schlep with my little daughter carrying all the luggage to another terminal and then at one hertz desk was given my paperwork to get my rental car. When I walk to the garage there aren't any cars left in the gold section. So I have to walk all the way back and at a different desk there is one employee trying to help countless customers that like myself reserved cars that are not there. I asked them about giving me one of the cars in the other sections but they said they are reserved (wasn't mine as well?) but then I could have one for a major upcharge. This is just TERRIBLE customer service. I will not be dealing with hertz Orlando again, Tampa is so much better. After a couple hours I had to go with a smaller electric vehicle given to me at the same price point as an suv because it was like 12:30am and my daughter and I were exhausted. The vehicle has also been rented several times before your rental as well as rented since you returned it and there haven't been any reported issues by customers or our staff who clean the vehicles. Wish I had found this page before renting from Hertz - Orlando, FL. Welcome to my rental experience from hell. We broke down 15 minutes into our drive and got stuck in one of the busiest intersections in the city for over an hour. Hertz was absolutely no help at all. They wouldn't even send a tow truck out. The police finally sent out roadside and they were able to drag the car out of the intersection. (The car wouldn't jump start or even go into neutral). We didn't have a car for the rest of our trip. I have had the worst experience with the car rental. The first car I was in had extremely loud squeeking breaks. Went and exchanged the car and by my fault my mom accidently dropped the key in the water and we had no key. This is where service got terrible. I called roadside assistance and they quoted me for a tow and a replacement key $250 for the key $190 for the tow. They said 60 min or less I waiting almost 5 hrs. I was told the last rep messed up and the cost would be $340 for the tow. In which I said fine whatever as I have my 4yo and it's freezing out side at this point. I made the initial call at 245pm and it's now 930 pm and the tow just got there. I was told he'd come fully equipped to get my stuff out.. well He couldn't pop the trunk and told me to meet him at the airport and we will figure it out there. Then proceeded to tell me it probably be better off If go in the morning just to do everything at once. I called a rep to verify and the rep said the same thing. " I'll make this as easy as possible for you in the morning so it's a quick pick up and you can grab your stuff." Well morning came and I went in and was not greeted with that easy pick up. I was told that all 3 reps were mistaken and that they couldn't help me but with an exchange. I got ina car and there was an overwhelming smell of cat urine. They exchanged me again and the next car the whole top of the car didnt work. The light nor the sun/moon roof. They proceeded to give me a number for lost and found. I called lost and found over a dozen times, I finally got someone on the phone and she was extremely rude. I had asked for a supervisor, she forgot to put me on hold and they just talked shit in Spanish. The supervisor said she didn't want to deal with me and to tell me she was going into a meeting. Well I addressed the conversation with the lady whom answered and she said well spanish is my first language and oh well and hung up on me. I then proceed to call customer service again in which I was informed the car had be re rented already and lost and found should have my stuff then they gave me the address to lost and found. I went to lost and found and was 110% dismissed. She handed me a sticky note with a number and address that was to be the maintenance center. Well when I told her it wasn't the address I was given by the tow truck driver she said oh well and walked away. I tried to call the number she gave me and it was a number that was no longer in service and the address was over 20 min away when I was told it was 5 min from the airport. I ended up going to the address in which the tow gave me. Employees at the maintenance were super helpful but we found out the car never made it to Hertz altho I recieved 4 messages from the tow had been completed and car returned to hertz. I called roadside assistance while at maint office and they even said the tow company reported they left the car there. When they pingged the car it was in cocoa Beach no where near the route it was sopose to have taken.They had no idea why and everyone was confused. Myself and the maintenance people tried to call the tow company in which we were all blocked and ignored. Roadside assistance was able to reach the tow company after 50 min of being on the phone with me. I tried to get to corporate via customer service in order to discuss the issues I'm having and how poorly I was treated and to discuss the charges and was told I'm not allowed to speak to anyone and if I wanted I can go online. I am extremely upset and disappointed in how my situation was handled as well as how I Was treated by everyone excluding the Maintenance people and would like someone to reach out. I travel extensively for work and had never had a problem with Hertz but the Orlando location was always several steps down. One of the first observations was, the manager at the time about 18-months ago didn't know what the difference in the status levels were. This was somewhat of a joke me asking as I had been president circle and had rented 30 times a year almost exlcusively with hertz. This location too, you will almost always find significantly better cars in the regular gold section. What broke me from renting from hertz and enacting a corporate policy, as the owner, I will not reimburse Hertz rentals on an expense report without getting an exception from me was this. I had rented a car and don't remember vomiting in the car, I absolutely did not vomit in the car during my business trip, they doubled/tripled down "assertively and final decision was used" and basically said there is nothing you can do you vomited in the car on my bill. This is a thing they got sued for accusing non-smokers of smoking in cars this location particularly. I reached out to the president circle and they were able to charge back this fee and remove this 100% BS attempt to do which wasted more of time than anything when they saw the revenue we brought through hertz. I've moved on to National which is usually about the same but the service level is so much better. We've taken about 25k per year in revenue from this location as we extensively travel through this area with about 60 rentals per year here and probably 120-150 rentals / 400 days per year as a small company. This location sucks and it stems from the top and the back office people. read more

Rent at any other place. If I could 0 stars, I would. My family of 5 rented a Cadillac CT4, which is crossover/SUV. The hatchback trunk comes with a luggage cover insert. Our luggage did not fit with the insert. I asked to leave it. Both the outside agent and the desk agent refused. In fact, the outside agent tried to tell me that "they" wouldn't let me out of the garage without it, which is absurd. No one was willing to help. We jammed everything in and a very 90 min ride to our destination. I'll never rent another Hertz car. read more

I got the app and checked in before arrival. Once I landed at 8pm I got a text that said where to go to pick up the car, and it said find your name on the board and proceed to claim your car. Once I exited the terminal and crossed the street the car lot was right there on the second floor. I saw my name on the screen and the world gold was next to it. I proceeded to the gold row which had tons of practically brand new cars to choose from. My daughter liked the Kia soul so we looked at a few of them and settled on a grey one. All the ones we looked at were all under 4k miles and all looked fairly new. We proceeded to exit and an attendant just asked if the gas was full and let us out of the lot. We used the car for a week and drove about 500 miles on it, we filled it up and dropped it off with no hassle. The attendant just scanned the label, gave us a receipt and that was it. We had our own EZpass and and our own insurance so we had no additional fees except for what we paid on Priceline. The service and car was excellent, I will definitely be using them in the future. read more

The receptionist told me i would get an electric vehicle, and i would need to pay an extra $40 a day if i wanted a different type, which i obviously did. He said he would discount the total 25%, so my overall cost was $165 instead of $150. I returned the car and my final receipt said $269. Seemed a little high, but man was i mistaken. $269 was IN ADDITION to the $155 i paid for a TWO DAY rental. $424 for a TWO DAY rental is robbery. I reached out, called, spoke with people, and they dont seem to care. I will never book through Hertz again, the hidden fees were absurd, and the receptionist apparently charged me an optional $125 insurance fee, which i told him i was waiving at the counter. read more

Unfortunately, Hertz takes advantage of their customers. They allow you to book cars even when they're sold out and then tell you to wait 2-3 hours after you land for a car and hope one comes in. They prioritize certain reservations over others as well. They did not have the car I reserved and put me in a minivan; therefore, costing me more money. They then added an additional $140 on at the end, for which I had to call and dispute. They never even sent a receipt. Be sure to check your final credit card statements, seeing as how they seem to be very shady with their business. And as a final tip, booking through any other third party is cheaper than hertz, despite them claiming "lowest price guaranteed". Extremly upset with the lack of customer service from the MCO branch. Their urgency and attention to our reported left items was unacceptable and resulted in THEFT. We dropped the car off at 1 am on Sunday morning and turned around and came back 30 minutes later to retrieve the sunglasses we had left in the sunglass holder. We were told the car had already been returned to the off-site location and there was nothing they could do. They would not let us retrieve the items in the car. We followed the steps to report the missing items and were met with an automated message that they were not located the following morning. We attempted to contact someone at the branch numerous times over the past week to explain the situation and each time we were forced to leave voicemail and only received one call back. The sunglasses in the cars sunglass holder exceeded the amount of $600. The lack of urgency in this matter allowed someone to STEAL the sunglasses, this entire situation should have been avoided. I rented the car with full insurance coverage (basically walk way when return). The inspector let me go when I returned. After over two weeks, I received an email saying there was a damage. I asked for any evidence. To my surprise, the damage was very obvious in the picture they sent back and I would've been aware at the time when I returned! But they insisted an incident report!!! First of all, what's the point of buying full insurance coverage? More importantly, I am 100% sure the damage was not there when I returned the car. Charles, who goes by "Chuck" and is the manager at this location is the most abrasive, cocky, arrogant, disrespectful, dishonest, commission-driven person I have ever dealt with. I'm assuming Hertz must have some sort of commission program in play to upsell unsuspecting customers into this scheme. And I have been with Hertz Gold for more than a decade. Chuck's representative, last Sunday, tricked my father into signing for $39.99 per day accident coverage (it was about $309 extra charged more for the whole trip). As soon as I have left the building, after the representative had assured him that he would not be charged for anything additional, I noticed the charge and immediately took action. This is because I prepaid everything which is what I always do through my Hertz Gold membership. As soon as I noticed this pre-authorization charge on my father's credit card, I called Hertz customer support, but, they were closed, because it was Sunday. And I didn't want to drive 2 hours back to the airport to get it fixed right then. So they left some notes on my account, they assured me that they would be able to take care of the charge, and that after my 7-Day vacation, I could go back and get this charge taken care of. Well, today was that day. I went in there, I dealt with a representative, and then Charles got involved. Charles was belligerent, rude, and at one point, even threatened to call the police. There are notes on my account literally within an hour from renting the car showing that I noticed the charge, called in, and asked for it to be removed, but they would not be able to do so until I return from my vacation and met with them in their office. on Monday morning, I called in, when the office was back open, and they left more notes on my account and they even confirmed that I had not signed for anything additional. Despite all of this evidence, Charles would not remove the charge, and he became more and more rude and belligerent the more I protested and the more I kindly asked him to please just take care of this considering all of the circumstances and how quickly I immediately noticed this mistake, which turns out was a dishonest attempt to take advantage of the elderly. My father does not even need extra accident coverage because he has full coverage on all of his vehicles. This was a perfect example of exploitation of the elderly and he should be prosecuted for this crime. I intend to report him to local authorities, report to my dad's credit card company and dispute the charge, and never use this company again. Hopefully someone higher up at Hertz can take care of this, and reprimand Chuck (he should be fired for his dishonesty and loan of compassion, quite frankly) and that Hertz actually reads my review because I have always had great experiences with Hertz Gold and I always leave incredible reviews at all of the places and I hardly ever find myself in the position of having to leave a negative review. Hertz Rent A Car - Here's the location. - Car Rental Near Me - Orlando, Florida

My daughter booked a car on Priceline for a car rental in Orlando from March 18-22nd. When we arrived at airport in Orlando, we waited in line for at least an hour to get our car. Once we were at the counter, were told that we needed to go to other location to pick up car. We would need to take a taxi to get to the other location @ Cocoa Key Resort. I paid $60 for taxi to other location only to find the kiosk closed with a sign that said "closed due to circumstances". A gentleman who works at the resort told us to call and someone would come to help us. We called a number on the sign and talked to a man named Clyde. Clyde told us we couldn't be helped because it was after 5 pm and they were closed. He told us to go back to airport and we would be able to get a car. There was nothing he could do to help us out. He supposedly tried to call the airport to let them know that we would be back there to get a car. So, the gentleman at the resort called a cab for us and i paid $51 to get back to airport. The line for the car rental place was LONG again. We waited in line for @ least an hour AGAIN!!! Once up to the counter, the man we talked to once again told us he couldn't help us because we NEEDED to get the car at the other location. We could pay $200/day to rent a car, but he coudln't do anything for us. I asked to speak to a manager and was told i could talk to t his man. I should have gotten HIS name, but was furious by this time. WE had my 6 yr old grandson who was pretty impatient and getting more tired by the minute as were my daughter and me. When i asked to speak to the Manager again, the man got on the phone and supposedly called the Manager. We were told to go to the garage and talk to Joe. We went to the garage and asked to talk to Joe. I told him our experience. He SAID "give them a car' as long as it is a small one, we have one here." We still had a long way to drive before we got to our final destination. The clerks we worked with were very impatient and seemed very rude to us because we were BACK!!!! Joe said that we could drop the car off at the airport. Save us from having to pay for taxi again!!!! when the woman @ the counter went to get us hooked up with car, she said she couldn't override it and we would have to drop the car off @ the other location. Another EXPENSIVE taxi ride!!!!! We finally got to our location in St Petersburg @ around midnight on the 18th. We dropped car off at the Cocoa Key Resort to find nobody there but were told to drop key in lock box which was not locked. the box was broken, but we put the key in it anyway. Another $64.50 taxi ride to airport!!!! After having such a horrible experience with the people who work for Hertz, i will never use them again!!!! I would like to get reimbursed for the cost of those 3 taxi cab rides that i used my credit card for. Sorry for such a long review, but i HAD to write about our experience. When my daughter took the key inside, there was another couple there waiting to pick up their rental car and were having the same experience we had!!!!!! And, they had 2 kids to deal with during this HORRID experience!!!! read more

If it were possible to rate them with a negative number, I would. My wife made a reservation for a Tesla for two weeks, while her and my daughter (13) are down there. Once she arrived to the location around 11:30pm, and stands in line for a little bit, she gives them her information, and shortly after she's told she's on the do not rent to list. That's surprising in itself, but nonetheless it is what it is, as basically trying to ask how and why were just answered with bare minimum effort of explanation. The part that we truly cannot understand is, they still charged the card as though she rented a car, and she was told by the customer service desk at the location, and via chat (which we dislike), that it will take 7-10 business days, AFTER the rental contract expires before she'd get the money refunded to her credit card! So basically Hertz is holding her money for at least 21 DAYS, and this is WITHOUT her being able to rent a car from them. read more
