My wife and I went to Addie Lee's on Friday May 8th. We arrived at around 2:30 and we promptly ordered and seated ourselves. I ordered the large plate with collard greens, mac and cheese, cornbread, yellow rice and pork ribs. My wife ordered the medium plate with cornbread, collard greens, yellow rice and fried chicken. My wife said she loved everything, my food was amazing but the collard greens were a little bit salty for me. The portions were very generous. I got 3 meals from my order. I would give a higher rating but the wait time for our food was excessive (a little over an hour). read more

Amazing deal. Food is excellent and you get plenty for the price ($8-$15 for the more premium proteins that we got, depending on number of sides). All plates come with cornbread and choice of yellow or white rice, in addition to whatever other sides you want. The restaurant was not very busy as we came right when it opened. We waited about a half an hour for our food and the catfish and beef ribs were so tender and delicious. Worth a try at least once if you're around Worcester! read more

I was in Worcester recently for work and was in the mood for Soul Food and found this cute place close to where I was hosting my event. As soon as I walked in I was instantly greeted and welcomed. Looking at the menu I was conflicted on what to choose as everything looked so wonderful. I was encouraged to try the fried chicken so I went with the recommendation. I originally ordered a drumstick and thigh as I prefer dark meat but ended up with a drumstick and breast. The drumstick was fantastic, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and the skin was SO crispy. The breast meat was a little dryer than I prefer but to be expected with white meat. The sides however were wonderful. I ordered the collard greens and macaroni and cheese with yellow rice. This came with a slice of cornbread. Everything was delicious and generous with the portion. I'll definitely go back and encourage anyone to try it out. read more

Took a VERY long time. I had to call to get the status of my order. I live very close to the restaurant so I am not sure why I received barely warmish food. This is the second time this driver has not followed my delivery instructions. (GrubHub). Last time he left it at the building next door. This time he left it outside by the back door even after I texted to ask him to bring it to the front and leave it in the lobby. He responded "ok" but still left it outside in the back of the building. I received 3 chicken wings that were pretty small and definitely not fresh tasting. The canned yams were okay...very small portion considering I ordered a large dinner. The Mac n' cheese looked good but had zero flavor unfortunately. There was also very little of that (thankfully). It was pretty disappointing overall, especially given how long it took...and I JUST realized that they didn't give me the cornbread that I paid an additional $1 for. read more

I've been to this place a bunch of times since I started working in Worcester. This is the best place in the downtown area no doubt, and the best bang for your buck. My favorite is the beef rib. Always tender. Consistently delicious. The vibes in here are also dope. The brick wall to the right is covered with pictures of famous influential Black Americans. From musicians and athletes to civil rights leaders and other intellectuals, it's a cool spot. The music in there is always a vibe. I sit down to eat whenever I can. Food: the chicken was cooked to the perfect tenderness and crispy skin. I also enjoyed it with the barbecue sauce as well. The mac & cheese has a nice balance to cheese and noodle, but could be a bit more creamy cheesey and the collard greens were made with just the right amount of salt/vinegar. Unfortunately, I wasn't the fan of a cornbread. It was a little bit dry to my liking, and it wasn't quite sweet enough either. Service: nice folks that have been in the business for years, def have serve themselves a spot on the community. Ambiance: it's a rather old school building that brings an old jazz to it, almost like a cafeteria in the 50's. However, they don't really have a sign to show you where this is so you just wanna look for a brick building that has the address number for you to actually find it. Location accommodation: it's near the Worcester Hanover, which is nice if you ever want some good soul food, but also parking is not so great and so you may need to take a little walk down. read more

Stopped in here for a quick bite before a Music Worcester/Hanover Theater performance. It's small local place where you order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table when ready. It's very much a comfort food venue, and I was happy with the results on this, my first visit. The cashier suggested a hearty beef rib which comes with either white or yellow rice. I ordered a side of yams, though the large dinner comes with 2 sides. As I recall, this dinner costs about $10. The food arrived within a short time, less than 10 minutes. * The rib was delicious, tender, tasty. * The yam was excellent and sweet. * The rice was bland and a tad cool. Located downtown Worcester just a short walk from the medical center stood this fine gem. I ordered the beef ribs with Mac and cheese and collards and i was definitely impressed. Ribs so tender the bone just slid out like a hot knife thru butter. I was surprised at the wait time for a restaurant that didn't seem overly busy but I'll wait for quality and this definitely was quality. Can't wait to return and check out more menu items. They have plate options from small to large. Each coming with a side of white or yellow rice & cornbread. The larger, the more sides that come with the dish. Every time we come we have to order large to try something different from Mac & cheese, yams, collard greens, black eyed peas, French fries, Etc. Depending on the day they offer different sides and meats. The meats range from pork ribs, fried chicken, bbq fried chicken, smothered pork chops, dried cod, catfish, etc. It takes a few minutes to prep the meals after you order, so order ahead or sit and wait. Food is delicious and the staff is beyond friendly. My only suggestion would be to send a spy over to Gee-Gee's in Providence, Rhode Island to steal their corn bread recipe. Oh, and can we do validated parking in the neighboring garage. We paid $15.00 to park which was kind of crazy for a 1.5 hour visit to a restaurant in Worcester. read more

This is a place I'm surprised isn't more busy. The food is actually pretty darn good. I've tried a bit of "soul food" and I think they do a decent job of providing that for an area not at all known for such fare. I usually go for one of the specials (Small with meat and rice $6, Medium with meat a side and rice $10, Large with meat two sides and rice $13) I'm a serious fried chicken wing fan. The breading and seasoning is nice. Not greasy or dry, right on. I've had the breast and it was juicy, but not seasoned quite as nicely. Collard greens and Mac and cheese are pretty good. The white rice is sooo good. Nothing is overly greasy, a departure from traditional soul food but a good thing in my opinion.
