3.5 stars: we tried the grille, AYCE (2h limit), came with all kinds of meats for DIY grilling. Including big steak/slab, shrimp, squid, marinated Korean meats. (frankly, more meat than you can eat.) The trick is choosing only the meats you like best! My advice is I'd choose shrimp, and a couple of marinated meats to start. (bolgolki), as they flavor and carmelize all the grilling. (I'd skip the shaved beef, previously frozen; the apps of dumplings are deep fried, not worth it.) read more

Quick Review: Service - Awful. Grill wasn't hot enough, food took forever to cook. Menu - Food was fine... I get really annoyed at Korean restaurants that don't label things correctly. I was like "What is egg custard?" Oh... steamed egg. "Spicy pork bulgogi" should be jeyuk. Takoyaki isn't even Korean. I was mad confused. And the banchan servings were just whatever. Came here last night with a couple of my friends. I don't live in Worcester anymore, but anytime I'm back home, I love to reconnect with my hometown friends over dinner and definitely like trying new restaurants in the Worcester scene. It's hard to find a good Korean spot that's not in Boston, so I was eager to give this place a try. We had a 630 pm reservation and were seated promptly. They have a sides buffet area where you can grab condiments, lettuce, and different toppings for your main course. I personally prefer when they just provide those condiments at the table because I'm not a huge fan of self serve buffets, but I only did one trip so it was fine. My friends and I opted to do the grill, and for the price point, you get a lot to eat. We definitely tried mostly everything on their menu. I will say they were relatively busy last night, and seemed to be short staffed. We didn't always get exactly everything we ordered on the menu, and I had to check in on my drink order a couple of times before it came out. Though, my friend ordered the strawberry rice wine and that was so delicious so I would highly recommend this!! Then, we did a second round of items, and they never brought out the rice or shumai we checked off which was a little annoying, but truthfully we didn't need the extra food. For me, the highlights included the strawberry rice wine, the rice cakes, shumai, grilled peppers, short rib, brisket, and I enjoyed the kimchi. Honestly, you can't really go wrong with the food. I will always make a stop if I see a Korean restaurant. The food is not really authentic Korean (I didn't see anyone Korean working there). That being said it was tasty. This is a buffet and I generally don't do buffets. I ordered the kimchi chige but they brought the soon dubu chige instead. Which was ok. The Soon dubu broth was a bit thin. I think if this is your first taste of Korean BBQ you will like it as you won't know any better. If you are a seasoned veteran or are Korean you will think the food is a 3-3.5 out of 5. I however love Korean food which is why I'm giving this place a 5. The staff were super nice and attentive. read more

I love AYCE Korean bbq, I was excited to see there was one coming to Shrewsbury. We normally go to Westborough Korean restaurant but decided to come try Omi. I loved how they had a self serve area for sauces and banchan though I wish they had more options. Usually the AYCE places I have been have like 6 or 7 banchan. It was nice not having to constantly ask for lettuce wraps which I find is an issue at other places I have been. When deciding on coming here the selling point was being able to get Korean soups and bbq. My husband loves Korean soup. The menu on the website is for Boston but was confusing, it shows both locations addresses and only one menu. I assumed the menu was the same for both locations. TBH we wouldn't have come here if we had known it was just bbq. Waiter told us it's because they also offer hotpot. But at a place where it's one or the other it doesn't make much sense. The service was good at the beginning, our items came quickly. The problem was after our first round they never gave us a replacement menu, when we finally got one they forgot half the items we checked off. We were sitting with an empty grill for like 5-10 mins. The appetizers tasted cheap and from frozen. The marinated short ribs were all bone and fat. The glass noodles were strange tasting. I also thought the menu was very small and missing my favorites (corn cheese, kimchi pancakes...). Things I liked were the rice cakes, marinated pork and chicken. I personally will probably not come back, but I had a nice night out with my husband and some things were good. I will probably just get my AYCE Korean bbq fix when I'm visiting my family in Oakland. Unfortunately, this place fell short for us in a lot of areas. As a chain kbbq/hotpot, and a place that has been open for a few months now, we expected better and I hope they can improve upon this. We only had the kbbq, so I can only give my opinion on that! Firstly, and the most stand-out issue for us, was the grill. It is not even close to being hot enough to grill meat. It took us 15-20 minutes to just cook pork belly, which should not take any more than 5-7 minutes (even per noted on their meat cooking guide). If you take a look at the photo, the whole steak there didn't have any sear on it because it just isn't hot enough, even after 20mns. If you are to serve a whole ribeye, along with frozen meats, your grill just has to be hot enough to 1. Cook it fast and 2. Sear it. Our table was sitting for the majority of the 2 hour limit, because it just wasn't cooking. We checked the grill settings as well and turned it high. The corn we got was on the grill for 45 minutes, and it was STILL cold in the center. Another issue is the service. It was a Saturday afternoon and they only had 2 servers/runners, which significantly impacted the experience. I completely understand being understaffed, and they were friendly and kind, but there comes a point where you have to limit your tables if you can't keep up. It was a little packed, and since the procedure to order your food is through checking off on a piece of paper, it was difficult to order. The 2 staff were running around, so it was hard to get their attention to get another piece of paper, and to hand them the paper. We ordered 2 times, and the waiter I guess either forgot half the things we ordered, or intentionally missed out on half the things because both times we only got half of what we checked off. It took a long time to get the food as well. This goes hand in hand with the cooking time, noting we were only able to get 2 orders in for a 2 hour limit because of how long it took. Other tables were waiting and looking around for waiters, too. This is poor scheduling and management, and I noticed from their reviews on Google that others had similar issues. Their meat was decent quality, I just wish we could've enjoyed it more. We have had a lot of kbbq, and this place just isn't up to par with the rest. The place is clean and comfortable though, so we hope to come back later on and try it again sometime. read more

Omi is OMG! Great fun and good food! It's one price per person but all you can eat from banchan to beef. You can order as much or as many banchan as you wish (and tbh I regret being modest here in my ordering - I should've given in to my inner glutton). Steamed egg, jigaes, pajeon, fried mondu - all were very tasty and well-executed. There's a buffet set-up for you to choose the dipping sauces and seasonings as you wish as well as kimchis, other small sides, and lettuce leaves for ssam. There's a good variety of meats to choose from: pork belly, bulgogi, ribeye, kalbi, brisket, tongue, chicken, seafoods like squid, shrimp, octopus, and assorted vegetables (mushrooms, kombucha, shishito peppers, onion, asparagus, zucchini). We had a whole ribeye steak, pork belly, and short rib; shrimp and squid; and kombucha, onion, and shishito. At this place, you grill the foods yourself - which I kind of prefer as it's more fun and interactive. Some Korean bbq places have a server who cooks for you and while this is fine for me, I do get the feeling that they rush you along to eat and finish quickly by cooking everything at once. Here you can pace the cooking yourself, take your time, and easily order more of anything as you wish. And remember, it's all you can eat! read more

Been here twice, pretty much the same experience each time. Food is ok, large gripe of mine is that I don't like Korean bbq and I like hotpot. Since my group was doing both they forced me to pay for bbq price too. I get the logic but I was still pretty upset, I didnt eat any bbq although I paid for it. What made me more mad is when I asked why the server answered like she was very annoyed. I am sure they get that question a lot but I don't know. The service is also something to note, they don't have enough staff. My visits were for lunch one time then dinner the second. Lunch they weren't that busy and still took a long time between ordering and being served, dinner was worse. Every time I talked to someone about this place this is the first thing they mention so I'm not the only one. Overall I don't see myself going back here for there are much better options in the area. I am sure if they staffed properly they would be fine but that area is oversaturated with good food options with good service, so who knows who long it will last. read more

I took my family there and the food was about a 7 out of 10. The decor was nice and the restaurant was clean. We ordered the buffet for 6 which runs about $32 per person. There was small ribye which wasn't enough for the group. We also hadhot dogs which to me should not be part of the menu. I honestly was annoyed by paying $32 per person and seeing a hot dog as part of the cut of meat. I also didn't like the service it was extremely slow and nobody checked on us. The server was not pleasant and we felt like she didn't care. My wife had to get up to ask manager to serve the second wave of meats. The last thing was the sunlight was blasting through the window to a point where it was blinding. I had to put sunglasses on as well as my mother in law. We did learn that you need to use the scissors to cut up the meat and vegetables before grilling so they cook faster. Don't be afraid to turn the heat up to medium as well. First starts with ventilation, after our meal our clothes smelled pretty bad and it is quite unpleasant to go anywhere else after dining here. Second, it's very pricey for kids. Then when we had been sat down at the table after a 30 minute wait they ignored us and completely forgot we existed as we watched the other people who came way after us get served right away.
