I must say the food here is reallllly good like wow. I definitely agree with others this is a hidden gem. Started off with rolls and butter (heck yes...bring on the carbs)! Also, ordered a small $16 pitcher of sangria. They know how to make sangrIa well! Ordered a second pitcher too lol. But I would say if you know you want sangria to just get a large pitcher because the waiter told us it was cheaper to order that after we ordered seconds :( The cool thing is you can never fully finish your glass of sangria because the waiter comes right over to fill you glass for you lol. Nice gesture but I was getting the short end of the stick on refills because I drank slower lmao. Anyway, for dinner I had the sea bass in champagne sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. HEAVEN in your mouth omg that sea bass is sooo tender, flaky and that champagne sauce is to die for. It pairs really well with the sea bass. I would certainly recommend this meal! I didn't care so much for the mashed potatoes. One because they were garlic mashed potatoes which was no mentioned in the description of the meal and I dislike garlic mash ewww and it just wasnt as creamy as I would have hoped for. They should probably say it's garlic mashed potatoes for people who have food allergies!! My coworker got the lobster and scallop pasta. Very tasty with three good size lobster tails and big scallops. It's definitely enough to split with somebody or take home for another meal. For dessert (yes I have no idea how I made room for dessert but I did) I tried the plain creme brûlée (they have options for a berry or I think peach one? Can't recall). Man o man was it good! I was literally and conspicuously scraping my bowl haha. For service, the waiter was pretty attentive in the beginning, however, he got two very large parties at the end of my meal and totally forgot about us. We waited maybe 30 minutes just to get the check because all the attention was on the two big parties ordering a million sangria pitchers etc. Parking is very limited. It's street parking however it seems to be free after a certain time. I went around 7pm and it said free parking when I tried to pay just FYI. The restaurant can easily be missed because there is no sign saying the name of the place just look for some outdoor seating gathered together and you'll see a brown framed door. I'm sad writing this review because it means I'm done eating at Adega's and I don't want to be. This is literally a gem in the middle of Ferry st. Yes, parking can be a little rough but it is so worth it! Came here on a date around 9 on a Friday night and we were seated right away. It was a little noisier since we were seated by the bar but I imagine any other night it's not as hectic. We went with shrimp in garlic sauce as an appetizer. It was a hefty 17 bucks but the amount of shrimp that came in the app was well worth it. We actually ended up taking some home because it was so much. I went with the salmon recheado and I'm gonna be dreaming about it until I go back. Delicious, perfectly cooked flaky salmon stuffed with a chunk of lobster, spinach and a crabmeat mixture. It was absolutely perfection. It was served with mashed potatoes which I didn't care for but the veggies and fish were enough to make this dish a star. My date got a veal dish and it was huge. We both took half our meals home and trust me they were just as great the next day. We ended the night with an espresso, tea and a slice of tres leches. This is a great spot to come for a dinner when you want fantastic fresh seafood and feel like splurging. Completely recommend this restaurant. read more

The food was subpar. There was four of us and two of us ordered the salmon special. The salmon was overcooked with lots of bones and the baked potato was undercooked and hard. I sent the potato back and it came back warm and hard. I asked the other guest who ordered the same dish and he was more polite and tolerant than me, but he did not enjoy his dish and had the same issue with the potato and salmon. Pretty sure the menu said over spinach and instead received broccoli rabe. Another guest ordered the cod and it was also full of bones. The only guest who enjoyed his meal ordered the prawn dish, but he specifically said he didn't want the shells He got the shells anyway. The service and ambiance were nice. I'm so glad I found this gem through a bday dinner. The service was great the waitstaff did a phenomenal job at being attentive to ten people. The put us in a back room that was so beautiful and in the cut great privacy. The decor in the room was sooo nice. Now to the drinks to be honest it was a hit or miss with their cocktails but you can never go wrong with some wine. The food was great I was so full after having the warm bread and mussels for appetizer that once the entree came out I was so full lol but I definitely had to try the food when it's out. Large bustling bar - restaurant - Lounge ETC place has so many personalities I don't know where to begin. 1st off parking available in garage down the street NOT IN THE LOT across the street where it is $5.00.. Garage complimentary. Bustling Ferry street does not have any available parking so take it where you can. On the left is the old "bar" with seating off to the side when you come in ... on the Right is an UPSCALE lounge with modern seating with multiple dining rooms inside that makes the place enormous. No Reservation but we are early on a Saturday night (THEY GET PACKED LATER).... seated and moved thorough dinner rather quickly. Pitcher of Red Sangria was very good and all servers - waiters continue to stop by making sure our glasses are filled. Bread was pedestrian. We started with Shrimp in Garlic sauce which was huge portion $18.95... Very good though some of the shrimp could have had been cleaned better but the sauce was fantastic. A Pasta of various Vegetables was absolutely ENORMOUS for our Vegan diner tonight, yet they have Vegan entrees. Tasty but nothing great. Last but not least was a massive platter of Chicken Francese with side of Spanish Potatoes & rice. Chicken was delicious while sauce could have used a bit more KICK maybe some lemon. Rice & Potatoes were OK but cool as every dish is served with them so they are mass prepared and not piping hot. Service was excellent right up until we could not find the waiter for the check as we skipped desert. Decent solid place with good ambiance ... Also I had some caipirinhas and even that was done wrong, you can only taste the lime skin and bitter scent . Prices are way up , we all have been touched by the virus and know how much has impacted businesses and the economy but also impacted our pockets, so if I'm willing to pay those high prices why am not getting what I pay for ? I travel from Queens, NY to eat there one hour each way plus tolls. It used to be worth it. The service was great ! Overall, very disappointing experience on fathers day. read more

I had the honor of being here for a special occasion with a group of co-workers on a quiet Tuesday night. There was a very long and enticing bar located at one entrance and the dining area located at another entrance. We had a nice cold beverage at the bar before moving on to the dining room. We started our meal with the fried calamari and the Portuguese sausage flambé. The calamari was bland but the sausage was excellent. Both portion sizes were generous. We received bread and butter while we waited for our meal. I must admit I thought the bread would be better. Our table ordered the Bife a Diana, Peito de Frango a Francesa (Chicken), Bife T Bone Na Brasa, and the Filet Mignon. Each dish had a side of potatoes, rice, and mixed veggies. I had the Bife T Bone Na Brasa and I ordered it medium well. It was cooked to perfection as were all of the dishes. Everything was very tasty and portions of the meat were all extremely generous. We all wished there were more of the rice, potatoes, and mixed veggies on our plate. Those portions were lacking. The service was excellent and very welcoming. There were parking lots in the area and a private lot for Adega Grill customers around the corner. The prices were high but worth the experience and quality of the meal. read more

We ordered the Skirt Steak & Red Snapper Special to Split between the 2 Of us. Wanted a bottle of Prosecco but they were All out of it so we had to get splits instead. Both dishes came out cold not room temperature but cold. We tried to eat it but every single thing was cold and not enjoyable. We sent it back letting the bartender know it was ALL cold. She apologized and brought it back to the kitchen. It literally came out within 5 minutes. I'm in the business ans so is my friend. The food came back missing out Onion rings and tasted like it was just left under a hear lamp for 5 minutes. TERRIBLE!!!! These dishes are $30.-$35 a plate and it was not good at all. We obviously couldn't send it back again Knowing the kitchen would be annoyed with us. We ate most of it reluctantly. Our bill was $145. For Cold food!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone ever again. Used to come here when I worked in Newark but haven't been since I moved. I will never go back gor this expensive terrible food. So this was a cute spot. The waiters were friendly but seemed slightly overwhelmed during dinner rush hour due to having a fairly full restaurant. It also felt a little cramped when most of the tables were full. None of this was much of a problem though. We stayed a bit later so when it cleared out more, we really enjoyed the quieter ambiance. I got the arugula salad with salmon.. which was essentially just a bunch of arugula with some slices of mozzarella and nuts for about $15. I added some salmon to the salad which brought it to nearly $30. I won't take too much off of my rating for this, because it is conveniently located by penn station, but it's just something to keep in mind. The portion actually was fairly generous too and everything was great quality. I'd recommend stopping by but plan to spend for ambiance and location too. For food, I did the paella marinheira ~ slow cooked seasoned rice with lobster, shrimp, clams, scallops, and mussels. VERY TASTY and HUGE portions. The lady did the bife a cowboy texano (prime rib steak) served with a side of spinach, mushrooms, Spanish sausage, roasted potatoes and saffron rice. Equally delicious and the meat was soo tender! I think easily both dished could have lasted two or three meals per person so although the price might seem steep ($20-$30 per plate), I thought it was quite a good value for both the quality and quantity of food. My only complaint here is the menus. They bound their menus with a hard metal cover which leaves your hands with that weird metal smell. Think of holding a bunch of old pennies or when you were a kid and used to climb around the monkey bars on the playground. That funky metal smell. I have at least 10 check ins here and I absolutely love the food here. I consider myself a regular. Today I visited with my date and requested Don Julio Reposado. This was my date's first time visiting. The bartender said she served us 1942 reposado which is a HUGE price difference. (35.00 per shot): My issue is the language barrier and the fact that my date knows how tequila tastes. He told me it didn't taste like 1942. My issue is that I didn't order 1942. I'd suggest next time you visit to ask to look at the bottle and ask for prices before you order. He had a flight to catch so I didn't make a big deal about it, but it is disrespectful to charge a person for a liquor they didn't even order. The food and presentation was amazing and the staff was always so nice. I dont know what happened last night but for me and my boyfriends anniversary I decided to take him here and i was extrememly upset with the poor experience right from the start. They sit us down and we get menus but no drink menus?After waiting a while (no one came to the table yet at all) i had to ask a random waitor for a drink menu.
