The cells are clean, food is hot and everyone does their part to make the jail run. It's takes multiple departments coming together for each client's care. So it really is a team effort. Not to mention you have dayshift and nightshift rotations occurring. It's truly unfortunate to see the negative experiences people have posted on here. Being on the inside for the past year, I will say that there are some hard working staff members that work at WVDC. And they do their best to provide the best service possible. The deputies work their butts off and deal with some of the worst and craziest stuff ever. You literally are exposed to things that nightmares are made of. So for that I commend the SGT's, deputies, doctors, nurses and clinicians that work at West Valley Detention Center. It takes a mental and physical toll on individuals to work in this environment. And it is not easy. That being said, when inmates are "mistreated" it is because they are not being compliant (not following instruction or doing what they are told) and/ or they are resisting the officers. That's where disciplines come into play (brick diet) and being sent to the hole. It's jail folks. Don't break the law and do bad things. Then you won't have to deal with the politics of being incarcerated. And if you do have to serve time, stay out of trouble. Follow the rules. Ultimately jail is a consequence of breaking the law. And I believe that West Valley meets expectations of providing what is required to each individual as well as offering additional help such as mental health services to individuals struggling with mental illness. West Valley Detention Center actually has the best mental health services available, compared to the other SBC jail locations (HDDC, Glen Helen, Central). So West Valley is where it's at! The most services available.

What do you mean it hasn't been 40minutes. It took them 40minutes to get the bond. And she said it'll take another hour to approve it. First lets be clear, I give it 3 stars because, It Is A Jail! I can not give a jail 5 stars…read more Nobody like jail. But having said that, it is getting the highest rating I would give any jail. I have gone here to visit a person several times. The staff are always friendly and quick. They have even started my visit early because I was there early. From the time I walk in the door to the time I start my visit has been often less then ten minutes! That is quick. But I will point out that many times I have been the only person there to visit someone. And I think that is terrible for the people in there, but good for me. I should note that the visits are not in person, They are via video calling. They have many booths set up , you will be assigned a booth, you go there and wait to see your friend show up on the video, then you pick up the phone handset and begin your visit. The cameras could use some adjusting and maybe put in taller chairs, because to sit properly in the chair the inmate only sees the top half of my head. I have to sit up higher to get into frame better. But I could see my friend just perfect. So visiting it really just "real time, controlled, video calls. they last 45 mins. There is a count down clock running in the upper right corner. PROS So to sum it up. Quick sign, Quick start times, Friendly staff Clean facilities, Bathroom available Drinkable water CONS It IS a jail It is NOT face to face cameras need better pointing It IS a Jail! They start appointments…read moreon Mondays at 7 am but within secs they are filled and walk-in are only permitted when their time allows it. I was able to get an appointment by complete luck late Friday night for that Saturday. There is no denim, no clothes that Resemble staff or inmate clothing and no cell phone allowed especially in the visiting center even if you just walk in to ask a question if you have a visit at anytime that day your visit will be canceled without hesitation. Keep your phone in your car. Use your phone while inside your car. Tokens are $2 single dollar bills only. The machine is near the entrance. You need the token to take a photo inside. As inmates cannot buy them inside even using their money on the canteen before the expected visit. The staff is absolutely horrible to expect everyone visiting just knows the process and they act as if every prison runs the same. They are rude. They are very disrespectful. They are very inconsiderate. They are the worst. Their inmates having visits obviously affects their lively hood. Since taking a few moments to clearly explain their process effects them so seriously they should make a quick 3min video and post it on their website. So when they get NEW visitors everything is simple.

I checked myself into jail early with a court visit ,they got me booked and had me wait in a holding tank in Van nuys with a bunch of other ladies, while we waited to be bused downtown, they gave us a sugary orange drink, a package of peanut butter, jelly and some bread,its super weird we got this same thing for every meal,pretty sure there was a mix up in the kitchen but I didn't want to appear high maintenance by complaining , there was one woman eyeing my apple ,she asked for it so I gave it to her, great 15 minutes in the pokey and I'm already giving shit up!! There was a schizophrenic woman that washed her hands about 50 times within a 20 minute period, and another big chick who took such a fierce stanley steamer in the toilet the fumes almost singed my eyelashes off. Then we finally got on the bus to the TT . I sat next to a woman with pink eye,black roots, two gold teeth and breath that smelt like she just ate a shit sandwich for breakfast,unfortunately she wouldn't stop talking to me ,but this was interrupted by the gang bangers in the back making cat calls.(a word from my generation) When we got to the jail ,we were greeted with such positive vibes,so welcome and inspiring, female deputies telling you were to stand and go, let me just say you can tell right away that there is absolutely no abuse of power in this place or any corruption at all one would never get that feeling at all coming into this jail there's any post-traumatic stress or tension in here at all!! I was thrown into a tank and I had to go to the bathroom , the nice guys throwing gang signs across the hall could see me , they were pounding on the glass and cheering me on at this time I really wanted to cry I felt such love and support some were even grabbing their crotch to show me they knew what I was going through ,we all waited in a room to be processed and we watched a few episodes of cops. In this female section there was a bevy of different women from all walks of life there was the hardcore prison women and then there were the ostentatious track-hoes in flashy clothing. If I was to name this movie it would be "The Bunny Ranch meets Alcatraz". I met some friends from Chow chilla prison that were down there to see the judge ,yup I was forming my squad /my crew, my posse. We were the spiritual crew talking about higher powers and Abraham Hicks,The Secret .I was feeling my wings and independence at this point . We all got thrown in another tank ,then sent off for a shower ,we all got to pick a pretty little scented soap and took a 3 minute freezing shower after the shower we all got a pretty orange Ivanka Trump jump suit and white flats to wear... back in our tank a track hoe started masturbating in the corner under her coat and the Chow chilla ladies wanted to jump her for it ,after several more tanks upstairs we finally got our bedding 1000 thread count Laura Ashley sheets and a goose down feather bed,as the lights went out I dozed off to the lovely jail sounds of fighting , yelling and the track hoe masturbating off in the distance a few beds away,but before you know it my name was called and I started back down the slope to exit this happy place. Bye the time I got to check out they told me I never checked in $80.00 but theres no way these honest , deputies would ever lie to a inmate or do anything dirty so I second guessed my self and asked again anyways , ironically enough they found it . I stepped outside and it was about 6:30 am the next day, the sky was breaking and I walked down to Denny's for a grand slam Breakfast! This was our experience, and people deserve to know there is another side to Twin Towers. They make everything so difficult when it comes to families supporting their loved ones.
