I have been suffering from extreme fatigue for over a decade (amongst other things). I've been to…read moreso many western specialists who have dismissed my symptoms as "nothing" or concluded that I might be crazy and in need of a therapist. After decades of seeing a variety of western doctors and not getting any reprieve despite the hundreds of different meds they have given me, nothing has improved. In fact, I just got worse. Year after year, other disturbing symptoms started to show up and physically my body was showing noticeable changes of gradual decline. This downward progression should not be too alarming if I was at an age where the body's slow organ function was considered normal (though that's even debatable). However, I am still young which made this decline into dis-ease even more prominently disturbing. One day, a friend recommended that we both see Dr. Li. At that point, I was open to trying anything that would give me any sort of glimmer of hope of a recovery. I was anxious to see him and to see what he had to say. At the first meeting, he took my pulse and stayed still as if listening (and yet he was just holding my arm). After a few minutes, he looked at me and said, "You look strong, but your body is weak." In his gentle and reassuring way, he confirmed everything that I was feeling. I almost cried with relief. Here was this humble and yet intuitive doctor who confirmed with me that my symptoms are real and that I was not crazy. The immediate support was overwhelming. My acupuncture sessions with Dr. Li began in earnest and I have been seeing him once a week for the past four months or so. Why so long? I have a ton of healing to do - years of accumulated stress and physical disrepair to mend, so it will take me a while. Every body is different. Not everyone can expect instant healing after a few sessions. You have to invest in yourself and be patient. I also commute an hour to an hour and a half just to see him (one way). Might be too far for most, but worth the commute for me. I show up every week for the acupunture treatments and depending on what my body needs, then I take a variety of herbs (pills) that Dr. Li recommends that I take. Herbs are so much better - all natural and easier for the liver to process. After the first couple of treatments I have felt a burst of energy that I haven't felt since I was in my teens. I also sleep so much better now. I can finally sleep soundly period. I digest food better and overall just feel such an improvement in my general well-being. Mind you, I am far from being completely healed, but the positive results pushes me to continue on with the sessions. Dr. Li is amazing and kind and compassionate. That in addition to him having full knowledge of how the body should function and what organs need healing make him a brilliant doctor. Don't be shy about asking him questions. He is more than happy to explain anything and everything to you. If you want to explore natural healing, do yourself a favor, and make an appointment with him. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

I've been coming to SF Community Acupuncture for a decade, and every time I walk in, I feel the same thing: welcome, safety, and kindness. I truly believe in acupuncture and Eastern medicine, and this time I came in for hip pain and sciatica. As a food service worker, I'm on my feet all day, every day. I came in yesterday in so much pain, and after one hour of treatment, I felt a release. Today, I feel 80% better. I'm writing this review to thank the space, the practitioners, and the staff. Despite all the madness in the world, place like SF Community Acupuncture still exist, a place that care for regular folks like me who do not have tech income or easy access to healthcare. Thank you.

I can't wait to return. Thank you so much Rebecca! You're a queen!

She spent a lot of time explaining her approach and really tried to get to know what was going on with me and my body. She is a most attentive and caring practitioner. I initially sought out acupuncture to help with elbow Tendinitis. After a series of weekly visits, my pain disappeared completely. More interesting to me was the fact that other maladies I was having also magically went away including a case of IBD that I have had for years. Her Tui Na massage technique is great as well. Shermie is a real find and I cannot recommend her enough!.

I came to Dr.Zhao recently due to headaches, pain radiating upward towards the back of my head,…read moredizziness and pain on my shoulders and neck. I was able to call and book a same day appointment. Dr. Zhao is a retired doctor who works 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays) because of his passion for healing and fixing people's health problems. I was in tears because I was in so much pain and so dizzy. He calmed me down and told me he would fix me up! He used a combination of acupuncture, cupping and body/spine manipulation. He recommended a pillow and some pills for me to take home. Dr. Zhao is not cheap, the appt with everything costs $400! ($250 for each session plus initial first time $50 fee) I was still not better so I came back in two days. He poked me with needles and moved my neck around. I do feel better after I have seen him but I think my problem is too far gone with my neck. It's years of posture, sleeping wrong, stress, anxieties that have built up these muscle and neck tightness that is so hard to get rid of. It's been 2 weeks since I saw Dr.Zhao and I'm still not 100%. However, he did a lot to help me, he is a kind and patient man and ever since I saw him, I can breathe soooo much better and deeper. I felt like I couldn't breathe very well before I came to see him. I like him so I also took my husband to see him. He's been having right shoulder/back pains for years now, who knows where it comes from. Could've been the car accidents or work out wrong. After 1 session with Dr. Zhao, my husband is feeling a whole lot better. He still feels the area is a little off but his pain is completely gone and it's been a whole week so far. He was in so much pain! I highly recommend Dr.Zhao for all your ailments. There is no quick fix to any health problem. You need a combination of meds (possibly), lifestyle changes, exercise/stretches, stress reduction etc. Dr. Zhao can propel you there but you have to do the rest yourself too. For example, I'm doing more neck exercises now which I have never done before and I work on the computer 8 hours a day. I have changed my pillow to an ergonomic one. I'm being more MINDFUL in general of my neck and how it responds to my anxieties and stress (it gets tighter). Dr.Zhao sure is expensive but he is a healer and a good one.

Because the muscles in my back have adjusted, I have to go multiple times. And also because this place is located in SF, I had to try other chiropractors, due to the distance. I have tried 3 other chiropractors from berkley to fremont. All did the same thing-crack your neck, back and hips. The same exact way. While I did feel a little better, I could've cracked it myself. I finally gave in because those people couldn't do it and weren't listening to me, so I went back here today. Zhao knows what he's doing. You tell him and he will fix it for you. Other chiro will try to get you on a subscription plan to come 3x a week, blah blah blah (especially the ones who partner up with kaiser). You only need to come to Zhao once or twice and you are good. They do charge a a little more than other places, but it might be worth it for you. They only open Tuesday, Thursday and Sat as of now, but yoi can call and they will answer even on their off days. Call early, because they were booked for the whole day the last time I called. Also, check the area first before you come here because parking is a hassle. I really miss this place.
