I have been going to Crystal Nail for 14 years now. I think they do amazing work, are sweet as sugar, and have amazing attention to detail. I no longer live in the Richmond but still travel across the city for my feet to feel like pillows and for the artistic perfection they give me. I am a huge nail girly and this is my absolute favorite nail salon. I have been coming here for over 10 years. I now live in Oakland and still come see Trang and the ladies for manicures/pedicures and waxing all at great prices. I like getting very fun and intricate nail designs and they do an amazing job each time. Since it is a small salon, appointments are always timely and I never waste time waiting. They always offer water/tea/coffee and the atmosphere is great. Whether you're looking for a simple mani/pedi or an intricate nail design, this is the place!! read more

NO ONE IS PERFECT and I'm sure they have their off days but that's ok =) I still come to them for my nails. I think Nancy usually does pedicure but I haven't gone to her- yet. This place is awesome. I'm so happy that I found this nail salon. They are super nice and funny. And they do a great job. I got an acrylic fill with gel and it was $35. Very affordable and reasonable prices for great quality nail treatment. I will definitely be going back to crystal nail for my next visit to the nail salon. Overall great experience... and I don't say this often about nail salons. But very happy with this place. read more

Friendly ladies. Especially Jen, who does great work with acrylic nails. Today I felt like simplifying my look, so I went for a gel manicure. After a short wait, Jen got started on my pedicure while another technician took on the arduous task of removing all of my acrylics and giving me a fresh new gel manicure using Big Apple Red. Wow. Pleasantly surprised at this place. I got a pedicure on a Saturday afternoon. I made an appointment although I don't know if it was necessary. Jan did my pedicure and she was so nice and friendly. Personally, I prefer getting a pedicure that has the massage chair and tub for my feet. Here they put the plastic liners on so it's sanitary. The last place I went to Aqua nails on Geary although they were very nice they did not have the massage chair with pedicure tubs so they manually brought a foot bath which I did not like. Pedicure was $35 plus I had her add some designs for an extra $5. I'm very pleased with the way it looks and she did a nice job. They also accept credit card and don't hassle you to pay in cash like other salons. I think I found my new pedicure spot. read more

As you can tell by my reviews, I have been to many nail shops. I have been getting acrylics on & off for about 10 years. I started coming here when I lived in the area & only stopped because after I moved it was a pain to get to. BUT after my last two attempts to get my nails done elsewhere, i knew i HAD to come back so i could finally be happy with the outcome. I am NOT going anywhere else again. I have sensitive, thin nails & they always make sure not to painfully pry off my old nails, & if needed will even soak them a bit to make it easier. i HIGHLY appreciate this. They always cut my nails before applying tips, & always make sure the length/shape is what i'm going for. They are always consistent with they're work!!! They do amazing work for an extremely reasonable price. They always remember my face even when i've came in after being gone a year. They are all super sweet & so good at what they do!! thank you guys again for always being so accommodating! read more

I used to like this place. Three years ago, I even had them do my wedding nails. But, no more! They wasted my time and made me feel so ugly. I got to the salon around 6:30. Prior to arriving, I called and confirmed that it was ok to come and that it was not to late since they close at 7. I walked in and there were no customers, only three workers. I asked if I can do a gel manicure and add a pedicure and they said cheerily that they would do it no problem. The three workers worked on me to start, but eventually two left around 7 and one remained to finish my manicure. The worker that did my manicure seemed annoyed that it was after 7 and started doing a really botched job, which confused me since they told me they wanted to take me. I wished they would have just been honest and said they were closing soon. That would have been fine with me instead of wasting my time and money. As you can see from the picture, I did not get what I had asked for. The top picture is what I wanted and the bottom two pictures are of what they did to my nails. Not only is the filing uneven and the glitter design hideous and lazy, the gel polish is already coming up at the edges after not even 24 hours. I would go back there to have them fix it, but I don't want them to touch me ever again and don't want to waste my time. In addition, I don't want to deal with their attitudes or fake nice-ness. I'm Vietnamese, so I understand a little Vietnamese. These ladies are so nasty. Two called me fat a bunch of times and then the one that stayed later was on the phone with her friend and called me something equivalent to a bitch because she had to stay late finishing my nails. The whole time I was there, I was super nice to them. I even gave them over a 25% tip despite how upset I was. I tend to cut my people some slack, but this is ridiculous. I have been fuming over my experience and nails since I left their salon. I want to let this go, but I feel like a victim and I need to let others know. Don't waste your time, don't waste your money. And oh yeah, if you think they are talking sh*t about you, they are. They are just mean people despite their smiling and high pitch voices. read more

Came in for the first time today and fell in love with this place!!! Called and made an appointment an hour later. I came in with my dad who got a pedicure and a manicure. I got an acrylic full set. I came in with a picture of what i wanted. Lynn did my acrylics and shaped them perfectly. She took her time making sure every nail was perfect. Then i had Tramy do my pedicure and do the polish design on my fingernails. She was able to create a beautiful marble design and payed careful attention to every detail making sure i would like them. They came out so beautiful! Im obsessed with them. She even added gold embellishments. They are my favorite set I have ever gotten. I love them so much. Im so happy with them. Thuy did my dad's mani/pedi and they came out great as well. We both are very happy. All three of the ladies are super sweet and welcoming! Highly recommend! The price is very reasonable as well. It was $124 all together for a manicure, 2 pedicures, and my acrylic set which was gel and had designs. I will definitely be back! read more

I walk in with pictures off Pinterest of what I want and she did them exactly how I wanted them and more! Very nice people they always remember my family members names and ask about them! This is an update , I will never come to this place again. . First I got there at 4 then they asked me to come back at 5pm , that wasn't a problem . I get there at 5 and I still sit there for 35 more minuets okay that was kind of annoying , then the lady starts to do my nails but just rushing and doin a rush job ... then as I'm sitting to dry my nails the bitch Trang rushes me to leave as I dry my nails ... 1 you shouldn't have took my money if u were in a rush 2 u rush me as I'm drying . Fuck Crystal nails they will never get another dollar outta me ! Customer service went down in the last couple of years. Maybe they don't cater to black ppl as much anymore when we are the ones who keep you muthafuckas in business ! January 8,2018 I take off my nail and I have a black yellowish mark on it ! I've gone here twice now for acrylic fill with regular nail polish and they do a fairly nice job for $25 (not including the tip). I think they're really nice and I like how calm it is. I have only done walk-ins on a weekday morning, so I get seated right away. It takes about 45 mins. However, I do think they could be a little more detail oriented in regards to filing my nail shape and making sure my cuticles are out of the way. Also, they have a really cute place with a lot of natural light, but they could make it so much better by redecorating and reorganizing. It's currently looking a little dated and tacky. With so many nail salons in the neighborhood, they have a good price, but they should probably try to stay in the competition by making their atmosphere more appealing. read more

Never had to wait too long for service here as they are always well staffed and efficient. Been here a handful of times, the staff work as a team so that everyone gets service without too much of a wait. The mani/pedis are a decent price for the level of care and detail they put into it. Plus, it's in a quiet corner of Clement, so quiet and relaxing, I dozed off a few times while there. The whole staff is friendly, and I enjoy talking about my Filipino culture with them and hearing about their background as well. read more

I first heard about this place from my friend Annie. Her nails looked so good I knew I had to try it out. I love it! This nail shop can get super busy so make sure you make appointments especially when you want a get set with nail art on it. Trang is the best gel set nail art lady there is! You can see she concentrates so much on making sure your nails look good and she is just awesome at what she does. (picture above) Gel nails are way more natural looking and healthier for you! It is more expensive though.. Depending on what kind of design you get, prices can range from around $50. I got mine for $53 with $10 tips = $63! I made sure to make an appointment before July 4th to get my nails all pretty again! read more

You should call for an appointment first if your interested to do Trang's Japanese Nail 3D Art. And if your looking for more of a Hello Kitty design, make sure to ask if she has some available. I called Friday to make an appointment for Monday at 11:30 AM. Came on that day, and met Trang for the first time. She showed me her book full of designs and they were all cute. Told her what I wanted, she took her time on my nails, and was patient with me picking which design I wanted/where to put on my nails. The price is not that bad, $65 and plus tip. Other places would charge ALOT. Trang gets her nail art designs ( meaning her lil beads, hello kitty, ribbons, rhinestones and etc.) from Japan. Trang is my girl! You think it, she'll do it. All of those super crazy, sassy, 3D, gianormous designs, she'll do them. I start describing something to her, a little bit of this, a dash of that... and she's totally got it. Loving it... I get compliments all the time. Her prices are really reasonable for San Francisco too. Minus one star because sometimes she overbooks (trying to please everybody) and is in a rush. So some poor attention to detail, aka, cuticles/edges. But still, totally worth it and I have always had a good experience here. This is not a high-end salon btw. You get the service you want, but not all of that champagne treatment. If you want to sip sparkling cider and rose petals this is not the place. read more

I came in today around 3:30 and unfortunately the wait time was long. Trang told me to come back around 4:30 and luckily I live close by so I decided to make an appointment just to be sure. Trang and the other manicurist were very friendly and kept our conversation going the entire time, not to mention when I asked her to do something the way I liked it (filing my nails a certain way or wanting a specific shape) she did it without hesitation. Hmm.. I went in their small little salon and I see two ladies staring at me. i saw the Yelp reviews and wanted to see samples of their work they can do. One lady comes over and shows me photos- I see no customers at all. She said that if you want the jeweled nail look- you have to make an appt for Trang (she was the other lady who was mad dogging me since I walked in). I do not see why they could not take me then. After that experience I do not plan on going there to do my nails. Rude. read more

So far, this is the only place I know that does the super embellished nail designs. I love it because they have a large collection of magazines and catalogs from where you can pick out a design for the nail technician to recreate. I'm very finicky when it comes to details in hair, nails, and makeup...so I was a bit nervous when the technician was putting on rhinestones and lace tape super fast. To me, each nail in the picture I selected looked like a work of fine art, so I expected meticulous placement of each embellishment. However, she did an alright job. It wasn't as perfect as I would have liked it, but like I said, I'm a bit anal-retentive. Price after tip--like $60. Picture posted. Lately, I've been really intrigued by 3d nail art, especially with Hello Kitty designs. I read the reviews here and looked at all the pictures, and it looked so cute! I HAD to make an appointment with Trang. I came here on a Saturday afternoon and looked through the photo album of nail designs. I really wanted a design with Hello Kitty art on it, but Trang told me that she just ran out of the Hello Kitty 3d art. She had a couple different Hello Kitty 3d art left, so she used those on me. She was very nice and recommended me colors that would look nice on my nails. Trang is a genius at creating designs on nails! I would definitely come back here to get my nails done, just not all the time. I feel really handicapped with fake nails on :( If you want Hello Kitty 3d nails, call in first and ask Trang if she has any Hello Kitty art left because it runs out very fast. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my nails which was really nice :) $60 for gel nails with designs. read more

I didn't bring a girlfriend like I joked I would... but that's okay. It's probably because I have no game. Luckily, Sunset Nails still treated me like royalty. I asked for a pedicure, and they absolutely delivered. The technician used an electric callus remover to shave off all the built-up dead skin, then carefully cleaned everything up with professional tools. The amount of dead skin that came off was honestly impressive, gross but satisfying. The pictures really are worth a thousand words. To finish everything off, she gave me a relaxing gel scrub treatment that left my feet feeling incredibly smooth and refreshed. It was the perfect finishing touch after the deep cleanup. Great service, friendly atmosphere, and attention to detail. My feet went in looking like they needed help and came out feeling brand new. You'll feel taken care of. According to other reviews, there was a change in ownership in the last 6 months and while I didn't visit before, you can absolutely tell they are doing it right and well now!! As of July, the acrylic set (w gel) was $60 and that's the best deal I've seen in a while (many places around here are charging $150+ for a set). I added $30 for a tip because I was so stunned at the price; I thought it was going to be $100+ just for the set. I honestly feel like they are worth more because of the quality of the nails and the time they take! For those wanting to go, I do recommend calling ahead / making an appointment. There were a couple people who came in as walk ins and were not able to be accommodated due to appointments.

FYI a gel manicure with design and gems/pearls (self provided) was $65 pre tip, which is more than they list on the site. They prefer cash but venmo is also accepted. Very peaceful vibe inside, with a restroom and water provided. They don't rush you at all which is nice :)

I really don't believe this place is good at all! I went in for a pedicure +a gel set equals to total inhumane torture. First they told me it's only a 10 minute wait time when I got there and it turned out to be like a freaking 45 minute wait time. Second then they accidentally (maybe purposely?) cut into my skin while they were doing my gel set and left me with an inch long cut on my finger. Third is that lady Tranh who was doing my gel set was talking shit about me and some other customers with her fellow co-worker in Vietnamese. Do they even acknowledged the fact that I might understand Vietnamese too? So much for their shit talking and for don't knowing what the hell they are doing, I swear this is the shittiest nail salon I ever been to in my god damn life!! read more

So after reading all the great reviews I went and I'm sadly disappointed. I had a manicure done with the gel nails. They looked alright from far away however up close you could see it was on the side of my finger and lots of extra polish underneath my nail. Well I let it go since gel last forever no big deal. Nope they began to crack after three days! I've gotten it done where it only crack after a week and a half or longer. So it's been a week and a half and my nails have cracked and are peeling.
