     taco on a sign

This place is not to be missed. Unbelievably good food and varied menu. What great variety - we had a taco, a burrito and a "redneck" hotdog. Everything was perfectly prepared and spot on flavorful. Service was very accommodating - brought our food to us at the fly shop next door. Also plenty of picnic table seating right out front. Convenient location between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. Will definitely go back again. Go next door to the fly shop to get a drink and when you're done go to the other side and have an ice cream!

    The LA style dog yummy

Tacos are better than most Mexican restaurants! I love their specials, I've had their Gyro and Ruben, outstanding sandwiches!

We spent the week in Lake Placid for Spring Break, and we could not have been more happy to find this place, especially since we had our dog with us. Lisa G's feels like the kind of place you wish you had back home. We sat out on the porch with a perfect view of the water and our golden retriever happily at our feet. That alone would have been enough, but the food made sure we stayed awhile. We started with the wings. These are true buffalo wings. Not breaded, just well sauced and done right. We also ordered the cheese treat and it completely stole the show. Feta, spices, and jalapenos over fresh arugula, scooped onto toasted bread. It is one of those dishes where you keep saying just one more bite until suddenly it is gone. For dinner we tried the shrimp tacos, which have quite a reputation. As Texas people we were a little unsure about the pineapple salsa, but it works. Bright and just sweet enough. The slaw is mellow and tangy and ties everything together in a way that feels thoughtful rather than trendy. The fish and fries surprised us the most. Easily the best fish and chips we have had in years. Real haddock with a light crisp fry and a rich house made tartar sauce that does not play second fiddle. Chance said he usually only likes fish and chips for the fried part, but here he actually liked the fish itself. That tells you everything. The fries are the kind you keep reaching for long after you are full. Our teen ordered the burger and it disappeared before we could negotiate a bite. Former picky eaters do not lie. We tried the Julian cocktail, which drinks like a confident mai tai. The riesling missed the mark a bit. Next time we would go for the sauvignon blanc or the house white. The service felt like the best version of small town hospitality. Warm, easy, and full of good local recommendations. Our pup loved it. We loved it. We will be back. --Chance and Becky All Ahead Slow

Drinks were messed up and orders had to be repeated about 3 separate times. The restaurant was not busy, so I'm unsure how this could've happened. Some of the food was good - those who got the french dip sandwiches enjoyed it, as well as the wings. However, the black bean burger and beef stroganoff were average. It didn't blow us out of the water. The stroganoff had good flavor but was sitting in a pool of oil so that put some people off. I am visiting town, but unfortunately I would not come again if I return to Lake Placid due to the disorganization, errors, long wait for food and lack of food quality to make up for the prior problems.

He was polite, extremely personable, and gave a great recommendation to me on the quesadilla, which turned out to be spot on and was DELICIOUS! I couldn't stop saying how good it was. I also got a flight of 5 beers, which themselves were each unique and enjoyable. Overall we didn't expect much going to a Mexican themed restaurant at a brewery, but we left very impressed and happy we gave it a go. Thanks to Rylan and the kitchen, we had a great experience and would highly recommend giving them a try if in the area. Also I'd note that it was almost empty (A Sunday) when we arrived at almost 5:30, but by the time we left there wasn't an empty seat in the place. So it seems they got a good thing going here

Qué pasó? Big Slide…read moreused to be one of the best spots in Lake Placid to eat. Pub fare, but done really, really well. The switch to Mexican cuisine is puzzling and seems to be filing a market no one was asking for. The good news... it was incredibly easy to get a table on a Saturday evening, when you used to have to wait 30-45 minutes. The staple of any good Mexican restaurant? Chips and salsa to start. It seemed as though they dug in the bottom of the pantry and pulled out a bag from nine months ago to get us started. Fortunately, it was paired with some extremely mediocre salsa from a jar. What a perfect combination to not overdo it before your meal comes! Speaking of that meal, they quickly dropped some cool to maybe luke warm, far from authentic Mexican cuisine on our table. If you like your rice al dente and crunchy, put in an extra order. They might even remember to bring it to you. Thankfully they forgot ours and took it off the bill. The only hope is that they can pivot out of this as quickly as they changed into it. The lack of any Mexican flare beyond a few star decorations hanging from the ceiling should help with that. Otherwise, I can't see this place surviving. The beer was so-so at best, which was evidenced by the four people sitting at the bar during a World Cup quarterfinal match. The second star was earned by our friendly and understanding server when we expressed our concerns. I'm sure this change is taking money out of his pocket, which truly sucks for him. Please... give us the old Big Slide back.
