Adobe Gilas is a tequila/ sports by day and dance bar by night(9pm). The drinks and fishbowls are a good time. The food is comparable to similar locations in the city. The Buffalo shrimp were tasty. Food: we got the carne asada cantina special and al pastor street tacos. Portions are so small. Food was not worth the price. Meat was super salty. Service: our waitress was nice and attentive! Plantains were forgotten in our platter and she brought out a separate plate for us promptly. Drinks: we got the watermelon and pineapple margarita. Not strong enough. Walked in looked like a cool place to hang out have a few drinks and tacos at. Ordered 3 of the fishbowl mixed drinks. That was a mistake they skimp on the alcohol basically all your paying for is ice and fruit juice with a splash of liquor. Tacos were mid. Service was slow. Went into the area after Fat Rosie's was recommended. They had a 50 min wait on a Saturday night, but we had kids and decided to look elsewhere. Adobe Gilas had zero wait and about 10 tables of customers. Sat us at a table for 4 when we had 5. Waited 15 minutes before anyone came to the table. Ordered chips and salsa and it was less than impressive serving. Two out of 5 meals came out incorrectly. Needed refills on drinks before meals were served and got them halfway through meals after asking a different waiter. Waitress never asked how the food was or if we needed anything. Oddly enough, she was very attentive when we had to tip on the handheld devise while she held it and watched the screen. Food was ok, kind of greasy, but nothing horrible or noteworthy. But can 100% see how people would wait 50 minutes for a table at a different Mexican restaurant less than a minute away than eat here. read more

Again we had to find a someone to take our order. After asking several waitresses and waiting an additional 30 minutes, we got our chips & guac and pitcher of margaritas (total wait time over an hour). The food was ok. The carnitas were dry and they forgot the plantains. The $60 margarita pitcher was weak and not worth the money. Don't waste your time and money. Head over to Fat Rosie's instead. The night life is definitely where it's at since there's a dj that played some hits as me and my friends walked back from bowling a door down. Overall, the service was fast and very helpful on drink recommendations for my group, she even brought samples of the fish bowl flavors. The food was tasty and decently priced for the area. An interesting place with good food but really poor service. More of a bar atmosphere, but they do have a kids menu. Although signs say brunch on Sunday, no one mentioned this or offered any brunch suggestions to us. We waited an eternity for the server to come back to the table between deliveries and we were one of like three tables in the whole place for the majority of our visit. Lunch was pricey at like $135 for two kids and two adults. Also - for almost the whole time we were there. I call this the boom boom room. I arrived after 9pm on a Friday night and the room was getting ready to light up. The DJ was doing a great job with the jams and people were starting to warm up the dance floor. We sat at the bar, passed on the $15 margarita buckets and opted for the modelo negras instead. The service at the bar was friendly and prompt. We both had not eaten, so my wife ordered the nachos and had them add chicken pastor to it. When it arrived the meat was red, not uncooked red, but like screaming red color. Not sure how they prepare it but it was a bit off setting to what you normally would expect. Having said that, the nachos were OK. Next time I will try the bbq tacos with pineapple. The jury is still out on coming here to eat, but definitely good for late night dance/drink/hang/hookup. Whoever does the hiring here has good taste ;) If you are looking for a loud, fun place to get your groove on and let your hair down after hours, this may be your jam. Out of the places I have tried in MB Park so far, this one screamed night life the most. read more

Live DJ & Cover after 9:30pm so come before that to save a few $$. Spend that $$ on more drinks! The drinks were Really Cheap, btw 84 ounces for less than $30. Can't beat that. In town for a convention and was bringing 10 colleagues to have dinner. The host informed us that we would be a $20 per person cover. I said no thank you we just wanted to have dinner and wouldn't be adding $20 a person to our dinner charges. She said that since we were only dining, our party could come in for free. The ambiance was like a night club, but the music was low enough to talk (at first) All 5 of the guests who arrived together were starving so we ordered while we waited for the other guests. It was not great food. In fact, it was the worst food I have ever had in Chicago. To add insult to injury, they charged the rest of the guests an entrance fee and lied to them, saying that the rest of the group paid the same fee! We tried to correct this with the manager, but they wouldn't even come speak with us. read more
