food: good bar food nothing special, don't let things get cold or definitely not as good service: staff was nice and accommodating ambiance: outdoor seating was nice, good shade with the umbrellas

    Best fried pickles!

Slightly overdue as I was back a couple weeks ago hangout with coworkers (love these Summer hours)! So nice to sit out on the patio under an umbrella- very relaxed and didn't feel bad about mostly drinking. The service was good - she gave us our space when she realized we were mostly hanging out but was easily accessible for another round. I must say that this place has the greatest fried pickles ever and makes spears, which is the way I grew up eating them. So delicious and it's in a nice crispy tempura batter served with a mildly spiced sauce.

Great menu choices, really good food & a fantastic amount of tvs (especially in the outdoor area).

Pizza is very good with plenty of daily specials covering bar food and drinks. Indoor and outdoor dining and we all had great service for our large group. Plenty of parking. Clean bathrooms. All in all a very pleasant experience.

The service and food are top notch! I've been here a bunch of times but decided to leave my review after this visit. We ordered trash can nachos which are some of the best nachos on the NW side. We ate too many so we decided to split a burger. They brought them out precut for us to enjoy! The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. P.S. Also featured is my bottomless mimosa for $18. Great brunch specials!

Goose Island Very Chill And Vegetable Taco Plate

Cool little place in Des Plaines a bit south of downtown. It sure doesn't look like much from the outside but it's bigger than it looks inside. Beacon Tap has a lot on tap of course. Lots of local beers to choose from. The food has a range from greasy fried stuff to Mexican options such as tacos. A pretty quiet place during the day. It wasn't busy at all when we went so we got seated at the bar and got some of the specials to drink and eat. There's always some going on. It had Goose Island varieties for $5 a pint. The food menu is pretty meaty, but there's the Taco Plate to get some grains and vegetables. It's about $13 for a choice of 3 tacos along with beans and rice. There's the choice of beef, chicken, or vegetables. Basic looking tacos but filling. They came out of the kitchen pretty slow, and these aren't the freshest, but better than expected for a divey looking place in my opinion. Has drinks, food, and also entertainment. It often has live music. There's also plenty of games including slots and whatever.

The skins were huge but overcooked. The wings were good in size but I should have gotten the sauce on the side as they were super soggy. It came with ranch dressing which I didn't care for at all. My husband and I ordered the boneless chicken wings and steak tacos because those were the specials on the menu that night. The boneless chicken wings had a really bad flavor to them. The garlic parmesan wings had too strong of a vinegar taste. The barbecue boneless chicken wings were much too peppery and not enough barbecue flavor. I bit right into a big piece of gristle or cartilage in the steak tacos. The cheese, lettuce and tomato added no flavor to the tacos. The last item we tried was the French fries because I thought that they would be safe. I was wrong. There was no flavor to the fries, not even salt. I've got to imagine you're wondering why I'm only giving it three stars, it's the ambiance, to be honest... there's something that isn't for everyone here. I like the place, a little dive bar and a bunch of regulars, but it's not super inviting and I guess that's the issue. The crowd is also a bit on the older side and it's generally pretty dead on the weekends. The food, though... the only thing I have had and wasn't all-in on was the Caesar Wrap, because it was an oil based dressing rather than creamy and it was very messy - everything else I've had (wings, burger, fries) have been quite tasty!
