I was actually pretty impressed by this place! This is more of a 4.5 star review, but I can bump it up because maybe it was just a "bad night". If you are looking for a good ol Mexican place, this is the place for you! They do take reservations and are pretty sizable. We went on Saturday night which was a bit crazy. It was very crowded and we were concerned about the service. While the service was a little bit on the slower side and we were there for almost 90 minutes, all the food came out hot and delicious. I got the Enchiladas in Mole Sauce which was excellent. It also came with a soup or salad which was a nice surprise. I went with the black bean soup which was great! If there was any downside, my House Margarita tasted a little weird. I probably could have complained, but I kept with it. Pretty good size, but I think there was a little too much tequila in it! Either way, this place isn't inexpensive, but you do get quite a bit of food and everybody at my table enjoyed their meal. Sometimes thats enough! Maria's has gone downhill! Very disappointed with Maria's today. I'm never going back after what happened today. First of all, there's nothing vegan on the menu. So when I usually order veggie tacos or they're called vegetariano I used to have a good time with them. This time, I ordered the vegetariano tacos and I said no cheese and I also ordered the black bean soup. The black bean soup came with a whole bunch of grated cheese on top of it. She dumped it on the table and left.She just walked away. In my mind, the waitress was telling me to uck off. I could be wrong. Instead of waiting for her to come back and sending the soup back, I scooped up all the grated cheese and threw it on the plate next to me and ate the black bean soup. When the veggie tacos came, there was no salsa. So I waited for the waitress to come back, and I said, I want some green and red salsa, and she brought me two bottles of hot sauce and left. So my sister asked the busboy in spanish, "green and red salsa" and he said, okay, I'll get it for you. He didn't, the waitress came back, and we told her I wanted green and red salsa, and she told me the green salsa was very hot. I told her to take back the veggie tacos cause they're cold already, and I can't eat them. Wth all this back-and-forth, I'm now in front of naf knaf grill, and I'm gonna get some falafel there. What a waste of time I'm never going back to marias, again, never, never never never! I think the waitress did not speak English that well too bad. So sad, i'm never going there again and I eat veggie tacos several times a week, and many other places which are better than maria's. If you're thinking about going there, forget it, there's much better places out there in this world that are vegan friendly. read more

Disappointed. We are frequent customers. Hostess has NO people skills. March 1, 2026, 530pm. Asian or Philippines, and the other Hostess, Latino unfortunately. Waitress was also tense, rushed, (place was not full). What is going on?? Revenues & Profit will not prosper, with poor Leadership, poor people skills from Top to bottom, regardless of food experience. Not sure we will return. You can't charge Michelin wine price, if you don't deliver the full experience. Please go back to the basics. read more

AMAZING chicken fajitas and margaritas!!! From the outside this restaurant looks small, but when you walk in, it's very spacious. The staff there is wonderful and provides great customer service. I don't believe I caught my servers name, but I think it was Mary. She was bartending and serving 20+ people. Knew her regulars, was excellent and had time to speak Spanish with me during my first visit here. Thoroughly enjoyed the platinum margarita, the Guacamole and the asada quesadilla. Delicious, reasonably priced for Rosemont, and nice environment. Would recommend it and especially the server/bartender for professionalism and courtesy. read more

I spoke to the owner there where tons of drunk people to lose a customer that has been coming there for years when people are drunk and sloppy I'm a server 35 years stop serving them he had a attitude that he won't kick them out. So disappointed with the food and service at lunch today. We were a party of five. Two ordered beer and it took 15 minutes for the waitress to say that brand was not available. We ordered nachos with meat which were very bland and unevenly cooked and two different quesadillas that weren't crisp. The waitress kept disappearing and we had to go to the bar to get someone to refill our waters. The saving grace was the ceviche (only available on fri and sat) .... It was great! Didn't enjoy driving a long distance to find the parking lot full and valets not even working properly. They need to access the parking garage for customers. There is not that many people that can fill up the restaurant. Didn't enjoy not being asked until everyone at my table getting a drink then realizing I was sitting there waiting to be served. The soft tacos are way too big and hot to handle. Need to downsize the amount of tortillas used. Needs to ask if you want Chripy or soft shells. read more

A gorgeous long-running Mexican restaurant right by Ohare. They have complimentary valet parking and a decently sized restaurant, bar, and outdoor seating. The food was all so delicious, flavors were intense and everything tasted fresh and well cooked. The ambiance throughout the restaurant is one of the best things about this place. Warm and beautiful artwork at every turn. Live entertainment that's personalized table to table. They also add complimentary soup or salad with every entree which was a nice surprise. Only complaint was how much filler was in the taco meat, some is expected but at that price 1/3 shouldn't be carrots. We also had slow service but it was a saturday night so that was somewhat expected. Such a delicious and satisfying place. Can't wait to return and try other things on the menu! read more

The guacamole was the best I have had. My daughter got the carne asada and she loved it. The jalapeño was so delicious and spicy. The steak was also solid. I got the spicy chicken Azteca and it was great, with some heat and great rice and beans. Great meal! read more

I've never had a bad meal or experience here. Very authentic Mexican cuisine served in a pleasant setting . Order the chips and the excellent guacamole to start. I usually go with the fajitas and they never disappoint. I don't drink, but I'm told that their Margaritas are the best in the area. The place is neat and clean. The restrooms are immaculate. An impromptu decision to try the restaurant after leaving the tattoo festival had feeling like we made the best decision of the night. Somebody's abuela was preparing each plate with love. Came here for dinner on 7/10/24. They were super busy around 6:30pm and we didn't have a reservation so we had to wait about 15 minutes for an open table. I looked on both Yelp and google before we came to see if they had a waitlist but they don't utilize those apps. There isn't anywhere to sit inside so we just stood to the side and tried to be out of the way of all the traffic. After we were sat our server Martin greeted our table. He was nice but wasn't very attentive and was very rushed every time he came by the table. We had several menu questions and eventually ended up ordering the Botana Compuesta appetizer to share. The menu description isn't very detailed and It should say the quesadillas are cheese, the tamale is chicken, the mini flautas are beef and that it comes with bean and cheese nachos. None of that is on the menu. The nachos aren't even listed and were a nice surprise. I wanted a small margarita but they only come in one size, the goblet cup and so I passed. The food was delivered in reasonable time and was hot. We enjoyed the platter but it's such a heavy appetizer that it filled us up to the point where we both decided not to order the entrees we originally had in mind. My friend ordered a taco meal to go. We were celebrating something and I had brought my friend balloons, flowers and a small mini cake. Our server didn't acknowledge that we were there to celebrate something which I thought was a missed customer service/hospitality opportunity. Even if you don't care, engagement with the customer would provide a better overall experience. I did ask for permission to eat the cake I brought in and was told it was ok. He also brought us clean plates and utensils. Again, this was a busy restaurant. It was loud on the inside, crowded and you could tell the waiter was kept busy serving multiple tables including large parties. The parking lot was full but we caught someone leaving and snagged their spot. The food was good and I enjoyed visiting with my friend. I would suggest reservations if you're heading here for dinner as it might expedite your table. read more

My friends decided to have a surprise BD dinner for me at this establishment. 1st after reservations were made days prior, the reservations were NOT honored. To the point where it ruined the surprise for our event as when I arrived there they were all waiting to be seated still (14 people). When they finally gave us a table, the waitress and staff were rushing to set our tables as we were being directed on where to sit down, they literally through a cloth with utensils at me as I was sitting down. I ordered a 3 of us ordered orchatas and they taste horrible (watered down) I had to ask for another drink and return it. We ordered and I chose the red snapper and omg it was still raw and the rice couldn't be any more greasers as if it was the last rice on the pot. The fish was completely covered with garlic sauce to hide the fact that it wasn't cooked correctly. The establishment is well presented but you can barely carry a conversation as you literally have to scream to have one. Overall I will never choose this restaurant again. read more

Appalling service. I just left the restaurant, and the waitstaff were extremely racist. I was there with my family--we are Hispanic--and the worst part is that the servers were Hispanic too. The comments one of them made about us, and another server practically quoting the price of everything as if we couldn't afford it, were unacceptable. Very popular with locals, just under the radar of the Rosemont machine. Turns out the locals are a very cool bunch - a harmonious diverse crowd, packed to capacity on weekends. Music permeates overhead, or from the live troubadour. Thoughtful Mexican fare, but also specials that are sometimes American leaning. Service is friendly, they can get overrun with maximum capacity. Food was good- had shrimp fajitas, chicken tacos and steak taco dinners between the four of us.
