The octopus was exceptional--easily one of the best I've had and on par with dishes I've enjoyed at Michelin-starred and James Beard-recognized restaurants. We also shared the beet and goat cheese salad, followed by the local snapper and the ribeye cap topped with lobster claw and tail in chimichurri. Every dish was beautifully prepared and showcased the quality of the ingredients. The cocktails were well balanced (not overloaded with ice), and the Thyme on Thyme is an easy recommendation if you're looking for something light and refreshing. The wine list paired nicely with the meal as well. Watching the sunset over the water while listening to music drifting across the park made the evening even more memorable. We didn't complain, but weren't exactly happy. Our server came to take our order. We are accustomed to ordering tropical drinks and starting with the warm bread. Drinks were ordered and bread never came. We placed our dinner order and still no bread. Once our dinners came out, we were very disappointed to find that in spite of the price hikes, the portion sizes have been shaved down drastically. The normal flavor in our dishes wasn't present, and the tropical, no worries vibe was missing. Our entire crew of five all commented on how this just doesn't feel like a special dinner out anymore. I parked near their walkway sign and once I ventured through, it's such a lovely walk up to the restaurant with a bridge over water with fountains and tons of blooms everywhere. Once inside, I was met with a bright, crisp dining room that was clean and comfortable. We started with cocktails and I got their version of a Manhattan, the hog-hattan. It's made with Whistlepig 6 year and came out on the rocks. Manhattans not served up are kinda a pet peeve of mine--but this one? Truly and honestly one of the best Manhattans of my life. The server did not steer me wrong. It was exquisite. For my dinner, my dining companion and I opted for a deal they had that allowed you a starter and main for a reasonable price. I got the kale salad for my starter which was bursting with flavor--chopped kale, brussels sprouts, butternut squash, chevre, and a bright citrus-y vinaigrette--what's not to love? For my main, I got their Mahi Mahi which was also perfectly executed. Our server was also the bartender (Jordan) who was extremely welcoming and super friendly. We told her it was our first time there and she gave us the rundown about the menu and some of the local favorites. We got a coconut shrimp appetizer which was delicious and my blackened grouper Caesar salad was beyond divine. I'm so glad I went with that fish option over the mahi.
