I was introduced to EWC years ago and have stayed a loyal customer ever since. This location in…read moreparticular can get pretty busy at times but the staff is lovely and they do their best to accommodate. Not only can you walk-in at any time without an appointment, but you can also pre-book appointments online, through their app, via text-message if rescheduling, or via phone. That combined with their flexible hours as well as being open on holidays makes this a very convenient wax place especially for busy individuals. Cost: It can be pricey if you don't buy one of their wax passes. I get their student package for one of the larger body area services which is $177 and gives you 4 passes. When you divide this out - you basically end up paying around $44 per wax plus whatever amount you tip. If you buy a bigger package, you'll get a bigger discount. Location: conveniently located in a shopping center next to stores like Nordstrom rack, DSW, & Shop-Rite so you can indulge in some retail therapy & get your groceries for the week right before or after your wax appointment. The space is kept very clean and smells good! The wax: they use a purple hard wax that is made exclusively for EWC and not sold on the shelf. The wax they use is one of the main reasons I've stuck with this place. I've gotten waxed at many different places in the past and have always gotten a reaction from the wax. The wax at EWC goes on smooth and comes off quickly. No strips needed and it works for my skin without giving me a reaction. Each appointment is typically blocked off for a 15 minute time slot. It may take you a few gos until you find a wax specialist that you really like, but once you find your perfect person you can request to book all future appointments with her! You also get credit for referring a friend, and they offer a couple services for free if it is your first time.

The only real battle isn't with the wax, it's with the revolving door of waxers. Just when you find your holy grail of smoothness, poof, they vanish like a magician's assistant. Finding a good waxer is basically like dating: amazing when it works, heartbreak when they ghost. I have had both good and terrible experiences here. But solid waxers are Sarah and Alafia!

Blown away!! If youre looking for an amazing and skilled waxer for a Brazilian, LYDIA is your girl!…read moreNot only have I been getting waxed for over 10 years, but I am actually a former longtime wax specialist myself, so I am extremely picky and wouldn't be writing this is if it wasn't true. Although I have since changed careers altogether, I am typically able to wax myself... that is, until I got pregnant and it became an impossible task. Next came the seemingly impossible task of finding a waxer I could trust to get me through the next few months of my pregnancy. I booked with Lydia based off of a few glowing reviews, but still had my apprehension... its totally a control thing, trusting someone to do to you what you yourself are an expert in! Whats the saying.. doctors are the worst patients? Anyway, I braced myself for some discomfort and was pleasantly surprised by Lydias amazing painless technique. She is such a sweet girl to talk to as well! My wax was flawless and I immediately rebooked. What a relief to not have to worry about waxing with a new wax specialist I can trust, so close to home! ALSO- I didnt see it mentioned in reviews, but to anyone wondering, Waxing the City DOES use Hard/Stripless Wax on Brazilian waxes.. not soft wax... just an FYI as everyone told me they only used soft wax!

So disappointed....I used to come here religiously for Michelle (she no longer works here). As you…read morecan see, all the great reviews with pictures mention her. Anyway, when she left, I decided to not bother taking the drive here and found a great place by my house. Long story short, I'm leaving for vacation and my girl wasn't available so I came here and asked for a recommendation for someone to do my brows. What I got was a mess! When I saw the one brow I immediately told the girl that I usually don't take that much off and she, visibly seeing I wasn't happy, said my eyebrow was already messed up (it wasn't). The wax felt fine going on and I do not have sensitive skin but there is some kind of stinging welt beneath the eyebrow that got messed up. Nothing could be done so I didn't say anything more and I left. I called the owner 15 minutes later because I was too upset after looking at my brows in the car and she said I would be offered a refund and to go to someone named Lidia next time. She called me back a couple hours later and she said she talked to the girl and the girl explained everything she did to me during my session. I don't know how that's relevant. Explaining what you did doesn't make me like the outcome. The owner said the girl who did my brows "does them all day" and that "no one has ever complained". That was the end of the conversation. I didn't receive a refund and I will not be going back. The proof is in the pictures.

I came in asking for honey blonde highlights and even showed a reference picture. I specifically explained that if the exact color wasn't possible, I still wanted a noticeable blonde look, preferably on the golden side. Instead, I ended up with extremely thin highlights that are barely visible and nothing close to what I asked for. What upset me even more was the haircut. I clearly said multiple times that I only wanted my ends trimmed and cleaned up not a haircut. My hair was nearly waist length when straightened , and she cut it to bra length with layers that I never asked for. When I expressed that I felt too much was cut off, my concerns were brushed aside and I was repeatedly told "it's cute" and that I'd like it. I'm disappointed because I felt unheard throughout the entire appointment. I came in with clear communication and left feeling like my stylist did what she personally wanted instead of listening to what I asked for.

Have you ever been ready to leave a hair salon with shampoo in your hair?…read more Well that was me this Tuesday at Mystique hair and salon. I would seriously given the service ( or more accurately, the lack there of) zero stars if that was an option. I called up in advance to let the salon know that I was running exactly 5 mins late for a wash and a Blo dry. They still call me 3 mins later to check. I arrive at 6:35 pm exact and let Sarah know that my hair is a week old dirty and that I would need 2 shampoos . She gives me a look and tells me that she has no time for a second shampoo and that she has a 7 pm. At this point- I let me hair out of the scrunchie and let her know that may not happen given my hair length and texture. She berates Morgan from the front desk in not letting her know about my hair and at this point she is rough and rude in her actions. Proceeds to shampoo my hair while berating me for being 5 mins late. I try to think of more pleasant things but then she proceeds to cursory shampoo without scrubbing. I tell her again that my hair is really dirty and she is rude in her response back. I get up with shampoo in my hair and ask to speak with the manager about the abysmal customer service. The manager is not there. Morgan at the front desk washes out my hair as a courtesy and I leave with the managers name and number. Sarah tries to engage with me once more "explaining" why I am wrong- I ask her to desist and walk on. Talk about customer service! You would have thought I was getting a wash and Blo dry for free or as charity the way I was treated. Not sure why they accept late appointments if the stylists are tired, bored or just not upto it. Wonder if the primary modus operandi is to collect money from hapless customers while being rude. Hmm... never known that to work anyplace before!!! Avoid this place even if it is your option if last resort especially Sarah. My first experience there about a week ago was also "borderline" rude with another stylist but I did not write about because it was borderline. But this second experience has compelled me to provide this review. People- be aware. Maybe there are others who are nicer at this salon- but this stylist was not! Oh and I tried calling the salon today to talk to the manager- but my calls went into oblivion. Maybe I will have better luck tomorrow.

I wanted to treat myself to a mani after a year of not going to any nail salons. I didn't receive any type of nail bath/soaking, cutting of the cuticles, or just any clean up overall... but I was charged for it. The lady I got was very kind. It seemed like she knew what she was doing but I just really don't like the results and was not happy paying for the service I got. Their credit card machine doesn't work, but they have an ATM that guests need to use in order to pay. I wish I had known this before going. The overall cleanliness of the salon was not that great. Very cluttered and dusty. I wish I could get my money back. I have never been this unhappy with getting my nails professionally done. I am going to be painting over them. 4/17-EDIT: After receiving a phone call, the following morning, saying I can come in to get everything redone, I decided to come in. I originally wanted to get my nails soaked off and reimbursed for what I originally paid, but they don't do that. With having said that, you will want to make sure you like what you get. I will attach the new photos. I am very happy with the outcome but I am peeved that I had to come back a second time for a service that should have been done to "perfection" (hence the name of the place) the first time. The shape is nice, the nails are no longer lumpy, and I got the manicure I originally asked for. Michelle was very detail oriented and sweet. I'm not sure who I had last time, but it seems like it was rushed and it was a mundane task that was completed just to get through the work day. It is nice to get what I originally paid and asked for. Thank you Michelle! All workers seem to be very nice & happy to work. It seems like I caught someone having a rough day when I came in yesterday afternoon to get a dip manicure with french tips. Customer service after the original experience was excellent. Michelle reached out, gave me a complimentary service, and everything was perfect. Thank you, Michelle! 4/18-Another edit: Not so perfect anymore. I lowered the stars again...because a nail just broke. $80 nails should not break after having them done for one day, after already being redone. I called the salon asking for manager because I wanted a refund. She said that she would fix it but I refused to go in for a 3rd time to get my nails fixed when they should have been done correctly the first time. She said she will talk to the "big boss" and call back. 4/27- I never got a call back and they expressed zero concern of wanting to make the situation right. I am giving up. No person should have to return to a nail salon twice to get nails fixed after the first visit was not good. Not coming back again. I would avoid this place if possible.

Second, she tried filing them down to a shorter length and I insisted she cut them to the length I wanted but she didn't want to do that at all. I told her 5 times to cut them (no exaggeration). She actually told me that I didn't want them short. Finally, she got some of the gel polish smudged on my finger and I said to just leave it. She kept trying to fix it by filing my skin and using scissors to scrape it off which hurt! She just was resistant to listening to me and I had to tell her with more force, "no filing, no scissors, it's hurts me." She tried again with the file! Unbelievable experience. Never going back.
