When I went here my nail stylist was 20 minutes late and I felt like they rushed through my mani and pedi. I also felt as though they were making fun of my nail design choice because I heard them talking to a co-worker and say a bunch of things and then ombré and laugh. I also got a gel manicure, within 24 hours there were bubbles showing in some of may nails. In less than a week one of my nails completely chipped. Also it's not very ombré as it is mostly white and I would have liked a bit more pink. All in all not a good experience. I am only giving it one star because I have to. My sister, daughter and I stopped in here for pedicures a couple of weeks ago. No acknowledgement from anyone upon entering and standing at the front desk for several minutes, even though they saw us standing there. When someone finally did, we asked for two pedicures and for my daughter's toenails to be painted. I had the most unenjoyable, painful pedicure ever, due to the woman being overly aggressive with the cuticle pusher on my toes. I nearly jumped out of the chair at one point because it hurt so badly. Two weeks later, my big toe still hasn't healed. To top it all off, they "forgot" to paint my daughter's nails while we were there. I wouldn't ever go back to this place. If cleanliness is important for you as it is for me, I am sorry to say that I can't rate this salon well. There was nail debris on the floor, the work station looked old and tired; the interior of the LED light was littered with fragments of nails and polish so I didn't dare put my fingers on the surface. My operator was very kind and pleasant and spent a lot of time with me, but as she trimmed my cuticles, she drew blood and now that nail looks red and rough. The vinyl pad on the work surface was cracked and dirty as well. My nails do look good except for the one cuticle, but it just wasn't a pleasant experience. I am very shocked that anyone has had a bad experience with Van! I have been coming here for 6 years and it is hands down the best nail salon I've found. I moved from LA to NYC before moving to Princeton. It was impossible to find a nail salon in NYC that even came close to being as good as in LA. Upon moving to Princeton I thought I was completely doomed. That seemed to be the case until I found Century Nails and Van. She is FABULOUS!!!! Before I first got my nails done she listened to me for a half hour tell her exactly how I wanted my nails done, how picky I was and all the bad experiences I'd had. I have literally never had my nails done better. Every single time they're flawless. No bumps, they're the same width, length and the paint is smooth. On special occasions I like designs painted on and Van is truly an artist. She can paint intricate flowers, snowmen, whatever you want. She also has always kept my appointments. On the occasion I have come in without an appointment and she has someone Les scheduled she will refer me to Kevin who is very good. As far as personality goes she is a sweet heart! She can be quiet and perhaps some may interpret that as rude but she is anything but! I know about her children and she about mine. Van is great at her job and a genuinely nice person. I don't often write reviews but was so horrified to read the bad reviews on here that I had to respond! read more

it kinda kills me to write this review, as I was a super loyal customer of century nails for at least 5 years. over the course of the last 8ish months, everything has gone downhill... and after trying a similar salon in the area, i will not be back. tina did a great job. she still gets my 4-star vote. but the rest of the place has really declined- both in quality and in service. they haven't added new gel colors in years, even after i specifically asked them to on numerous occasions, and was told new colors were coming. the attention to detail has declined. if i'm paying for a mani, i don't want lumps. i don't want them to peel in a matter of a few days. i also (like on my last visit) don't want to call in to make an appointment for a saturday at 11am and end up written in for friday at 11am... then get yelled at by Van (the owner) when i come in at 11am on saturday like she'd confirmed. yup, its totally my fault she wrote me in on the wrong day. (ps- no, they didn't accomodate me for a gel mani and eyebrow wax with tina). oh, but van offered to do my brows... she proceeded to get wax in my hair (serious OUCH) and all over my face. safe to say i won't be returning. This is the BEST nail salon in the Princeton/Lawrenceville Area! I have been going there for over 11 years and now have all my sisters going there too. Van & her staff are so friendly and over the years it has become so that going there feels like you are with family. On a late night they have even offered me to share a pizza with them! Where else would you get that?! Every service they do is to perfection and their prices are very good compared to other salons. They are also meticulously clean! I was upset today when I heard a customer threaten to slander their reputation on social media because her teenage daughter misunderstood the price of services and she felt overpaid by $5! Booked an appointment for manicures for me and my friend, and when we came in, my friend was simply not attended to. One lady got started with me, but despite repeatedly asking when my friend would be seated with someone, she simply ignored my questions and continued working on my nails. It was very odd. My friend eventually decided not to get started because it was too late to begin by then, and we had other appointments to get to. While paying for my manicure (which was by itself rushed and sloppy), we once again asked why no one attended to my friend when we had made bookings for two people, and once again they literally ignored our question as if we weren't speaking English. I did not leave a tip because of this extremely bizarre behavior? I have never had an experience like this anywhere else. read more

Sometimes they are working too fast and it can affect their work, but overall I've seen every technician there and they are all sweet and good. I walked in and they sent a lady who doesn't do pedicures to do my pedicure, she soaked my toes in acetone till it got numb and she wanted to keep them there.. Went there for a pink and white. Done by Kevin. Came out very lumpy and a day later the edges were lifting as he didn't maintain my cuticles prior to application and placed the acrylic too close to the skin. Acrylic will not adhere to skin. Went back for a fill, waited forever, altho patiently. A lady did my fill, and gave me a horrible attitude when I asked her to even out the lumps. Then she proceeded to yell at Kevin as he was doing a pedicure, and he came over to see, which curtailed a huge Vietnamese argument. She too, placed the acrylic too close to the skin folds, and a day later, are liting. She overcharged me $5. I got a pink fill...the board says it's 20. She wanted $25. IThen they had the young girl in training give me a hand massage which involved painful pinching of pressure points between my fingers and the bones of my palm. I left it to the fact they were busy, and forgave it all. I am NOT picky. Today I went in for a pedicure. I am very hesitant as I am also a Cosmetology Instructor and am quite aware of the risks of foot baths. As I sat for 20 minutes in lukewarm water, as they took other clients, I watched. Now, the procedure for sanitizing and cleaning a foot bath by LAW, is after each client, an EPA approved sanitzing solution MUST be added to hot water, and the jets ran through for 10 minutes to cleanse and sanitize any skin and bacteria from the previous client out of the inner jets. Did they do this? NO! They sprayd a green liquid into the bath, hardly scrubbed with a dingy brush from a bucket and rinsed out. Now, mind you, if they previous client had a foot infection, all of that is trapped inside the jets. Cleaning the bowl will not take this away and when they fill the bowl and turn the jets on again for the next client, well, you are now stewing your feet in that person's skin and bacteria. I began to feel my heart race in a panic, trying to remember who sat there in my chair before me. Ok... I had gel previously on my toenails. After my feet had been soaking for almost 1/2 hr, they were tender. She proceeds to drench cotton in acetone, place them over my soggy feet and wrap them in foil, allowing my softened skin to soak, drowning in acetone for ten minutes as she walked off an performed a manicure. When she began to file off the polish, my skin was very irritated. She gave no care whatsoever for the integrity of my skin or safety. Now it comes time to decallus my heels. She clickety clacks off in heels she cannot walk in, and returns with a Credo Blade. Now, these are highly ILLEGAL. And she knows this...which is why she was hiding replacement blades under a towel. My heart again sank. Even if you replace the blade, again, bacteria and skin are still on the device. Again Credo blades are BANNED and if you are caught utilizing them, you are fined HEAVILY and can ever lose your permit. I told her, no, do NOT use that blade on me! She quickly hid it under another towel. See, the Board of Cosmetology pays suprised visits to salons and spas at any given time, and they know this....hence the fact they hide the Credo blade in the back and stash it even when at the pedi chair. I studied everything they did...the nippers and cuticle pushers soaking in old cups of recycled Barbicide. Barbicide does not sanitize. After the pedi, before painting my nails, she drained the water, then threw the utensils in the bowl, and began scrubbing them with a foot brush in MY DIRTY WATER! Then took that same brush and began scrubbing my feet. She then rinsed the utensils and put them back on the tray. By now, I was paranoid. I came home and washed my feet and scrubbed them with alcohol and am now in the process and reporting them. Do not go to this salon. They do not give a S**T about your safety. They want to simply herd clients in and out to get money. They are very unsafe, from what I have seen. Again, I am a professional in this business, and part of my job as an instructor is to strongly teach and emphasize on safety and sanitation. These people FAILED. I am not from this town, I am visiting from Philadelphia for the month. I will return to my regular upscale salon where the technicians are skilled an highly trained and respect what they do. Never again a chain nailery for me. And if you don't want to either contract Hepatitis, Plantar Warts or lose a foot....don't go here. And after reading this, remember what I wrote and you know what to look for at any other nailery going forward. read more

This is one of the rudest nail salons I've ever been to. I stopped going to them a while back after having them make me wait 45 minutes past an appointment time and recently decided to give them another chance. I visited on a Friday afternoon and asked if they had time to remove a gel manicure, and they said yes and that the wait time was 5 minutes. After asking me to sit, they told me to soak my entire hand in acetone. After questioning this practice and asking why they don't wrap each nail in foil like most nail salons, they said they were too busy and that no one was available to do this. When I mentioned that I could come back at a later time to have them properly removed, they refused my business and told me to leave. I will definitely not be visiting this salon again or recommending them to anyone in the area. read more

My mother is one of Kevin's regulars so occasionally my sister and I will come for a manicure. Tina and Kevin are nice, usually very friendly and attentive. However, there is a new man there who is subpar. I have had manicures and pedicures done by him and I cannot believe he is still there. Has no one else complained about him? He is rough, his nails are disgustingly unkempt, and he puts way too much polish on each coat. I hate to speak ill of this business, because it is one that we normally frequent, but there are certain things that I feel the owner (who is usually walking in from somewhere or speaking to customers loudly on speakerphone) is overlooking.
