My garage door was not working and I did my homework and found out that a coupling was broken and needed replacement. The technician tried to upsell me on things that didn't need fixing and was dishonest about my sensors. He told me the plastic coupling would cost 150-170.00 and another 100 to fix. I found the part for 8.61 on Amazon. The entire time he was at my home and I felt like he was looking for problems that did not exist. read more

I waited 11 months to receive our garage doors from ADS. Once they were installed they then decide to order the decorative hardware. 2 months later they come over to install it and the decorative pulls are crooked and the resting knobs under the pulls are not centered to the pulls. They also drilled HOLES in our doors where there was no hardware and now our doors look like garbage. We paid $20,000 to ADS and another $4,700 for staining them. And in seconds they whole thing looks terrible and embarrassing. I will be pursuing ADS to resolve this. I will post later on how they make this right. read more

ADS has consistently provided exceptional service, even outside of contracted appointments. They've been our garage door "go to" company for several years.. but a spring snapped the weekend we were about to leave town and we had to have another company come out to replace it. I questioned the bowing of the new springs but the guy said it was normal. Coincidentally, 2 weeks later, my neighbor had hired James from ADS to replace his motor (on my recommendation) and I took the opportunity to tell him how bummed I was that we used another company. He took a glance at our new springs and instantly noticed they used the wrong clips, causing them to bend and bounce. We did get that other company to come out and rectify their mistake, thanks to James. I figured instead of writing a crappy review about them, I'd write a glowing one for James and ADS. (note: I completely understand needing to set parameters and biz hours! However, if ADS had some sort of a weekend option... hint hint.. that would be awesome. He replaced our 18 year old opener with a brand new one. The new opener works great. It more is quiet and operates more smoothly than the old one. Superior rating for James with ADS Automatic Door Specialists. He solved my problem with ease. One of my garage door operators was having issues and not functioning properly. I first reached out to my original installer from 2011, who attempted to upcharge me for a fully warrantied replacement operator. I contacted a second garage door company informing them of my problem and additionally requested to have all three of my doors serviced. Their tech attempted to install a part in my disabled operator, but his installation failed. He said he could install a new operator but only pending my purchase of new springs for that specific door. He said if I wanted my other two doors serviced, I would need to purchase new springs for each of those doors too before he would touch them. Dissatisfied with his failed repair and insistence that I shell out nearly $3,000 for installation of the replacement operator plus service on all three doors including new springs, I found and reached out to ADS. In my opinion, James is the best tech in town. He came out promptly and did a thorough evaluation. He happily serviced all three doors, adjusted the springs, and correctly reinstalled the troubled operator's new part. Although that part enabled the operator to regain power it could no longer detect the door's stopping points. A brand-new replacement operator was sent to ADS, and James followed through to perform the install. His pricing was fair and reasonable for a job well done. I highly recommend James for any garage door needs. He is extremely skilled, very professional, honest, and performs his job in a timely manner with the utmost pride. HARDCORE PUSH FOR UNREQUESTED WORK & OVERPRICED. $895 for 2 torsion springs. ADS installed our garage door when we purchased our house many years ago. We've had them service our door a couple of times. We hadn't been disappointed until yesterday. We needed the torsion springs replaced. The technician Jorge Mendoza came and immediately was pushing for work not requested (ie: a new motor since the "old" one may not carry the load of the new springs). I asked how much was the total amount including the extra work and he gave me a $ amount of $895. I declined and he hemmed & hawed about how we'll have to see if we get lucky if the old motor will do the job or not. Oh, and by the way, you need a new battery back-up too. I declined that as well since we don't park in our garage (it's part of our ceramic studio). Well, "lucky me", the "old" motor did just fine working with the new springs. Wrapping things up, he did the invoice on his tablet and off he went. Got the invoice on my computer and wouldn't you know, the invoice amount was for the total $895 amount that he quoted that INCLUDED the new motor -- which i had declined. I called the office the next morning and spoke to Stephanie -- who said that there have been several recent price increases due to "shortages" and "back-ups"... oh, and they included a $25 surcharge in the bill to cover increases in fuel, materials & labor! WTF??? Being a long-time customer, I would have thought they would have refunded me SOMETHING but noooooo -- especially after I told her that other garage door companies are doing the exact same service with the exact same product for nearly 1/2 the price. Nope. She stood her ground. So now we are former customers. I told her that we are going to part ways. Unbelievable. $895 for 2 torsion springs. Yup, DONE. read more

James was great. Our garage door broke on a Sunday and he was out by 7am the next morning. He showed us what the problem was and showed us all the options available to solve it. We elected to get a new motor and couldn't be happier. Our previous opener was very old, and the new one is much quieter. and has a lot of options, like an app on the phone to see when the door is opened or closed and the ability to have amazon pkgs delivered in the garage. There is a camera on the motor that records videos of anyone in the garage. James finished the job much faster than we expected in addition to going above and beyond. He took the time to download the app to my iPhone and showed me how to use it. He made sure all of the remotes, including my built in car remote, to open the garage door were synced and working with the new motor so we did not have to reset them. The garage door track had been taken down. They reinstalled and I paid. The garage door was shaking quite a bit. I should have called, but we were bogged down with our move. Anyway, we move in and the door stops working almost immediately and flashing an error code. ADS only warranties for 30-days with no exceptions. So, even though this door never worked correctly and was never used but a few times, they would not give me the benefit of the doubt. I called other places and most have a 30-day warranty on work, BUT several said in a case like this, they can usually get approval to come fix at no cost based on the circumstances. Why would I use ADS again when another business is more understanding of my situation? In addition, the technician was surly. When the new company came out they pointed out that the track was not even screwed into a stud...just drywall. read more

They came out and replaced the wires to the electronic eye sensors. Less than 20 min to do this and charged the full hour labor (Apparently their min.) plus the trip charge. $108! CONCLUSION: Make sure you understand their billing before you have someone come out. My understanding was the service call was applied to the work and the customer would pay for parts. read more

We have had the noisiest garage door since moving into our house three and a half years ago. Loud, squeaky, shaky. Finally decided to have someone come out to check it and ADS was highly reccomended so I made a call and Justin came out the next day within the two hour window with a phone call alerting me he was thirty minutes away. I recently had to have our garage door serviced due to a safety eye issue. While the tech was there looking the system over, the motor started clicking as if there was something in the way of the safety eye beam, but nothing was there. When he walked over to the front mount of the rail. He said there's your problem. The installer wrapped the safety wiring in a location where it was rubbing on the spring shaft and getting pinched by the track. Awesome work by ADS! read more

I am impressed! I had a little accident with my garage door that caused two of the wheels to fall off the track. I called ADS right away (thanks to the sticker on the control box) and they picked up and got someone to help me right away. They were able to send a repairman within 20 minutes, which was great because I had limited time to fix the problem. Antonio was punctual, professional, and friendly. He came to take a look at the damage (without voicing any judgment on me) and got to work promptly to help me repair the damage. He worked quickly after identifying the problem and it didn't take long for him to finish repairing. Afterward, he tested it out several times to make sure that it worked properly.
