Extremely difficult getting a tech to come over. Very rude customer service when I tried to close out my account.

Be aware - ADT contracts are for 5 years and you are required to pay for all 5 years if service. No cancellations allowed. I was not aware of this and have had ADT for 2 years and did not use this system. I contacted them to cancel and they said it would cost $1,635. Ridiculous!!! Caution ADT customer service does NOT help - here is customer service response - we are sorry to read you have decided to terminate service with us! It is important to note that, here at ADT, we believe in being transparent, that is why the length and the penalty for premature cancellation is bold font on the front page of all our contracts. The contract is a docu sign agreement, that is sent to your email, opened, electronically signed and emailed back to ADT prior to the installation of services. This is your opportunity to read the terms and commitments to the document you are agreeing to. The docu sign process is tracked using your IP address for official verification as well. read more

adt is a joke. stay away from this smart alarm system. beeps every few min. continuing even after unplugged reset and disabled. customer service tries but they suck too. chime is on cant access to turn off. this system cost me way more than the service due to unhappy guests. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service and sales department. The door to door sales criminals showed up at my house and promised a certain price and features. Turns out it was all a lie. My own fault being busy at the time and not fully reading a contract presented but they not only locked me into a higher rate than promised, they locked me into a longer contract than explained and have now raised my rate even higher. Absolutely criminal company, horrible customer service who refused to assist with anything. Now I'm locked into a contact that please believe I will cancel the first day it expires. I was forced off my google nest product as the app was no longer being supported. I was given a voucher to go to ADT plus. the sales rep told me that all my nest products would be supported. that isn't true. so I had to order new door and window sensors. the app install didn't workso I spent 45 mins with various tech support people to get me a working access code. once that was working it turns out that my home WiFi won't support ADT because ADT requires a 2.4mgz connection vs 5mgz connection- so now I am dealing with vz fios to make that happen. You can imagine how easy that is . None of this was never explained up front.- my nest system ran wonderfully on my 5mghz connection- i am about 3 hours install with no end in sight. if your are being forced off nest / please think twice about opting to go with ADT - service and setup has been AWFUL... save yourselves hours of misery and find another provider read more

ADT is a big scam. Got the service and equipment sent to us for self installation. They sent us the wrong equipment and we decided to cancel the service. They were supposed to send us a return label to send the equipment back and never did. You only have three weeks to send it back. After several calls, one of them was about 4 hours just to get a label sent to us, we never got this label and ran out of time. They have been charging us for this stupid equipment for a year now. Our company been with adt for almost 20 years. They never changed our panel for a newer one. Every time we had to replace the battery and get change for it. Our cost usually cost 200 to 300 dollars. Just recently the sensed out one man to come he didn't do anything he charged us 600 500 for labor and 100 for parts. The man that fixed the problem charged almost 300 so a total closed to 1000 to just changed the battery because the other guy charge us and didn't do anything we have him on camera. read more

If I could leave a negative star I would. I had a system installed and had a Google Nest Doorbell installed. It was suppose to be hardwired. Well, turns out the unit installed has a battery (as seen on the box) which I did not want. So the tech that installed it messed up the wires and took away the old doorbell so now I am SOL. It is like pulling teeth to get a decent customer service answer. Transferred 4 times and then when I got a "tech" he told me to remove the unit from the door frame. Disaster #1. Now I have to hire an electrician to replace original doorbell. There are live wires hanging out covered up in plastic until another "tech" who is probably as useless comes over and tells me there is nothing he can do. THIS COMPANY IS WORTHLESS! read more

Lied to me about getting a upgrade & I could use my existing equipment on the new system to after a year of having service to tell me in order to look at my cams I gotta pay 99 bucks & a additional 5 every month. Charges for services that was cancelled. I called ADT the beginning of June 2023 and scheduled for service disconnection, due to moving with an effective date of 06/24/2023. I will not be transferring ADT services, due to the HOA provides monitorinng services. I received a bill that's billing me through 07/05/2023. I asked to speak to a supervisor and the agent refused to transfer me. He said he will not transfer me to someone else. read more

i had adt for 3 days....they were dishonest about pricing they lied and in those 3 days i was left on hold for a combined 22 hours.....22 hours.... i would never reccomend adt to anyone. they are dishonest and aside from disgustingly long hold times their customer service reps are extremely rude. they will not help you so i just cancelled within the 72 hours...now im having to fight for my refund do not use adt please do not give them your business. i have been telling everyone i know. i saved 3 ppl from singing up with them. adt charged me $2800.00 as a new customer after quoting me $1020.00 for an outdoor camera, 6 windows censors , 4 glass breaks and 1 key pad....$2800.00..... i went with vivint now and got charged $1,100 for 1 outdoor camera 1 doorbell camera 2 motion detectors 4 glass breaks 6 window censors.... no contract 49.00 a month service, not 60.00 like with adt where youre locked into a trash contract with liars and thieves....adt is the worst customer service experience ive ever had.... if you like incompetence, terrible service, broken promises, lies, unprofessional reps, paying for product/service you never got, 1-4hr hold times and reps who hang up on you after being on hold for 4 hours then adt is for you! read more

DO NOT USE! I have been trying to cancel my account for 3 months. I keep getting billed even though they have documentation of my cancellation. They're responsible. They will try to charge you for service calls to fix their own system though.

Do not use them it's cheaper to buy Google cameras or another brand to monitor it yourself . Im having issues with my cameras and when I try to solve the problem myself as they keep insisting I get no where . If they send a tech out it's $60 but they don't tell you that the tech will then charge you $250 + his hourly rate on top of the $60 and will be charged immediately. So now I'm stuck with a $2000 system that's just for show as you have to get it through them . When you try to cancel they will give you the run around till you just hang up and try again .I should have just gotten 2 protective dogs at least I know someone is taking care of my home read more

I have had the absolute worst experience with ADT. Due to their mistakes, I've been made to pay more money than I should have. When closing my account with them, they conveniently LOST my final payment of over $400 and turned me into collections. They claimed that my payment was denied, even though may bank stated otherwise. Collections recommended talking to them and ADT recommended speaking to collections because it was "a pickle that was out of their hands." Since having an account with ADT is has been nothing but a headache and continuous harassment. Would never recommend. read more

Beware...We've had an alarm system in our house since 1993. ADT bought the alarm company years ago and last year we realized that it was no longer connected to our phone system. We had to get a technician out to update our panel and to install a cellular call system. Recently we noticed that technician did not set up our glass breaker detectors. We called today and they said that our detectors won't work with the current system, and it is going to cost about $440 for 3 new detectors and a service call with installation, unless we do a self install. We are seniors and aren't techies and I don't think we should have to pay again for someone to come out when their technician should have figured this out on the last service call. We explained this to their customer service team today but they said they understand but have to charge us for another service call anyway. So much for loyalty. Don't expect it. read more

The employees are oh so pleasant & helpful in selling you the 36 month contract. The support employees manning the customer service lines are nice enough. Each time I call there is a minimum 40 minute wait time. Every. Single. Time. My issue is my doorbell camera will not provide live feed, it only records clips upon door bell rings or action motivated incidents. I have repeatedly followed the troubleshooting guide on my own & with a service advisor & still no connection. I was advised to uninstall the app & reinstall it once the advisor ran out of solutions. This did not help. The camera connection to my home network & the door panel is fine. I just need live feed from the doorbell camera. I can not answer calls & this is the main reason for these cameras. I was directed to Safe Haven for product issues because "I'm responsible for it now". Upon contacting them I was told someone could come out to take a look at my camera for $69. Why? Once you're roped into the 36 month contract they abandon you. I phone 3/16 and scheduled service for 3/23 between 8:00 and 9:00 am along with cc for $99 installation fee (that would be charged at time of installation) although equipment was free. I was told monthly rate would be $52.99 but indicated I would call back as I recall receiving correspondence for $19.95 per month which ADT honored. I phoned later that week as I noticed that my cc had been charged. I was told that it was a hold and they should have explained that. Additionally, the $19.95 was not in the system. I was transferred to the manager April that made sure this was entered for my 3/23 appointment and generously offered 2 $100 Visa gift cards along with a $250 credit. Now, comes 3/23 where they bring all kinds of equipment to sell you. I don't have patience for sales like this but humored them. I repeatedly indicated that I only wanted the basics, along with some extra sensors and an extra keypad (keypad is $299 so I would pay $49.) Thereafter I'm told I will be charged $52.99/month. I indicate how I phoned and was told $19.95. After the tech confers with someone at ADT, I'm told it's for a LANDLINE...I told them we were done. 3 hours of my morning wasted for false and misleading information not to mention my wall looks like shi! now! read more

ADT camera security is absolutely horrendous if It is working OK, once you go down you have to set up a virtual call and make sure you're available when you call in no one can help you on the first call. Its virtually impossible to troubleshoot yourself. If you want real security cameras for your home look elsewhere. read more

RIP ADT Very shady and dishonest business practice. Here's why: Just make sure you don't cancel the account because ADT will put your contract on a "30-day cancellation process", meaning they will continue to charge you for another 30 days before they will actually cancel your service. A supervisor was unwillingly to cancel in 24 hours, and refused to send out confirmation email. When asked why, she bluntly just said, 'no, we don't'. Poor workman ship. I had a camera system installed and it was just thrown up. Cables were run in the worst spots, meaning they had no regard where they ran. They ran across the middle of a wall, they were crooked, just ugly. 2 out of 4 cameras didn't work, sensors fell from their mounts, if a power cable wasn't long enough it was just haphazardly spliced and taped. Just horrible. I called and was told, "when thing are really busy we subcontract the work out." So when ADT is busy they send out a bunch of hacks. They're sending someone out to fix the problems, but confidence is very low. I'd advice against ADT. The company seems more concerned about making more sales than doing quality work. read more

Don't get ADT! They increased my bill twice within a year with no explanation as to why. The guy who installed it didn't even leave me a charging cable for the doorbell and the video camera is too high for me to connect to my new wifi. Expect long wait times on customer service calls and when I tried to cancel they wouldn't even come out and uninstall everything, they said people just leave it for the next homeowner. They double charged me towards the end and then said they couldn't credit me and instead would appear as a credit for my next bill, when I never even authorized the second charge. Ha, went to make a post and saw they average one-star and couldn't help to laugh. SO so so bad! Long story short...signed a contract in February. They were billing me automatically (have receipts). Then one day service is shut off. I call, talk to 11 (eleven) people over 2+hours, and was told they were only billing me for monitoring, not for teh equipement and I now wed $2,500+ to get service on. Obviously, I said no and please put me back on plan...and if they were right I would pay the outstanding bill since February, but they refuse. At no time did I get a call, letter, email saying there was ANY issue...but now my family has no security service and they want me to pay $2,500 for some reason. So, had to call a lawyer and probably go to court. Luckily I have the contract and receipts but really don't need this nightmare in my life. So so so bad. You've been warned! read more

worst customer service I've ever dealt with. They falsely advertise their 24 hour customer and technical support. They also have incompetent employees that will tell you to just take the fully charged batteries out of your malfunctioning smoke detector until they can send someone out in 20 days, despite living in AZ where things spontaneously catch on fire. They put new installs as a priority above emergencies. Money hungry corporation that doesn't care about the clients they have, only the new ones that they can make more money off of.
