Horrible service, they stole $499 from me as they said I owed it for equipment. I paid my equipment infull in 2020. They said they went through an acquisition and don't have the records for payment. Well thats not my fault I shouldn't be subsidsing your internal problems! I've reached out to them through Facebook after leaving a review, and they said they'll investigate. But they've already investaged every.single.time I've called. This company is supposed to be protecting you, instead they're stealing from you. If you're considering buying from them, think again. These guys are absolutely awful to deal with. We had them on a home for 8 years and all was fine until we sold and tried to cancel. Despite having no contract and being on a month to month they continued to bill us post cancelling. We called in multiple times and would be transferred around to different departments. Finally after getting confirmed that we have cancelled for the second time they still sent us a partial bill rather than a credit claiming it wasn't their fault because the fire department and police department are too slow to turn off services. Total BS! I told the last associate that I would never do business with ADT again and the guy literally said "I guess well go ahead and file for chapter 11"! Avoid like the plague. read more

ADT service is absolutely terrible. They disconnected my old siren and never bothered to install a new one. The installer misinformed me that I had to start from scratch using a different alarm package. When they finally managed to finish the installation, they quietly raised my monthly service charge without telling me. When I tried to resolve the problem, I got kicked around and no one seemed to help me with the problem. I am still trying to resolve the overcharge issue right now. read more

I cancelled because the monthly fees were way too high. When you rip me off, you do not get the opportunity for my future business. Despite the website saying that when you cancel service you can still use your equipment, they told me during cancellation that it would be disabled and completely unusable. Then they said that they would report my cancellation to my home owners insurance. I can work that out with my insurance provider so no worries, but it seems kind of like retaliatory threatening for cancellation if you ask me. Spent top dollar installing window and door sensors/glass breakage/motion detectors, etc. Pay +$60 a month, and it has become horrible service! Sensors keep defaulting, batteries constantly running low and beeping - when you call for help, amd say you don't know what sensor is going off - they tell you to go around your house and figure it out. Truly horrendous service. i had a problem with the internet app and they absolutely refused to send a technician to help. It required multiple phone calls a with minimum of 40 minute wait times and numerous attempts to work through the chat function only to be required to provide the same information over and over. Instructions required me to plug and unplug items, reboot my router, etc. Finally after 5 months they sent someone who determined that the ADT router was broken. I am now attempting to cancel my service. No one is available to speak to me without spending 72 minutes on hold and they will not allow you to cancel on line or through chat. I assume I need to have a human attempt to convince me not to cancel which is why they require phone contact, although they say it is for security reasons. Besides this, they are the most expensive monitoring service available. My recommendation is find a different service. read more

This company refused to cancel my service despite being outside of the contract window. I had to make 4 different attempts to cancel my monitoring services over the course of 10 months. They continued to charge me and each attempt was met with incompetent reps that seemed to be reading from prompt cards instead of helping me with the issue. Long conversations with redirection and excuses on why they can't do anything with reassurances that this time it will be different. Once the company actually cancelled my service I was told I needed to pay 95$ to bring everything current and it would be done. No. 4 months later I receive a collection notice for $85. ADT will continue to charge you and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. There's no action you can take. If you are currently a customer then when you go to cancel don't do it over the phone. Do it over email so there is a paper trail and you can substantiate your claim. I lost over $700 to this company plus several $25 returned payment charges due to someone changing my account information after my first cancelation attempt. I just paid the collection and pray this is over. Edit: I tried to work with ADT for almost a year. After posting this review in as many places as I could they now want to save face. They sent a letter saying they'll refund me $70 (I lost well over $800). They "found" my THIRD attempt to cancel in November 2022. What about my attempts in June or September??? Wish there was a place for a zero star rating. If you're considering ADT I would highly suggest to stay away. We were selling our home and wanted to transfer our service to the new location. The representative got everything set up and when the technician showed up he said they could not connect their system, cameras, or smart home technology to satellite based wifi. This was never mentioned or a question that was asked by them during the call to set up. After the technician left I called ADT today to explain what had happened and they basically said there was nothing they could do and the balance of my full service contract was now due immediately. So now I have no equipment because they instructed me to leave it at the home, they can't provide me service at my new home, and there was no consideration for them not disclosing there policy about Satellite wifi compatibility. Been a longstanding customer with them and have tolerated there 45 minute+ wait times to speak to a live person, if you're lucky enough to get one, long enough. If you're looking for a company that will find any way possible to not help, assist, or provide fair solution or resolutions to problems then this is your company. I should have know to just buy a system, install it myself, and not enter into any agreements with a company like this!! read more

Run! I do not know what happened, but ADT is terrible. We *finally* managed to cancel service after 2 hours of being given the runaround and placed on hold. DO NOT USE. 1. We've had service with them for about five years. All was well until we replaced our windows and needed our sensors replaced as well. 2. We paid $300+ for new sensors. This was fine. However, they also said that we would install with help from virtual asst. (a person on the phone with us.) 3. This did not work at all. So, we were told that a service person would need to come out for a discounted rate of $59. We scheduled this. 4. When person showed up, we were told that the service cost was actually $169 for the first 30 minutes and then $43 for each additional 15 minutes. This seemed exorbitant and, in our opinion, profiteering. We refused to pay. 5. The tech called his manager who said that we either pay or cancel the call. We cancelled the call. 6. We called their customer service line and immediately got through. I said I want to cancel service as these charges are ridiculous. I was then placed on hold for 1 hour. That is 60 minutes. 7. I told the agent who answered after 60 minutes that I wanted to cancel service. He attempted to convince me otherwise. I was not convinced. I told him I wanted to cancel service again. 8. Without saying a word, he put me on hold. I remained on hold for an additional 30 minutes before I hung up. 9. I managed to get through to someone named Eileen L. W. in Jacksonville, Florida who told me I would have to submit my request for cancellation with a written signature. I wrote it out and emailed her the pic. 10. At this point she agreed to cancel service, after 30 days. Evidently they have a 30 day cancellation fee. So, they insist we pay a month for an alarm system that was not fully functional. (This has been remedied by another company.) There is something terribly wrong with ADT. I highly suggest avoiding them at all costs. read more

From my personal experience, I can assure you that there is not a single person at ADT who truly cares about their customers, as evidenced by the fact that for every customer who leaves, ADT adds new ones to their service. I beg of anyone who reads this post to consider a different security system. ADT's customer service is appalling, to put it mildly. Their billing system is inept, which is unacceptable for a company immersed in the "latest technology." They canceled my contract after I called in to ask questions about what happens to my service when I sell my home. I provided them with a hypothetical date to explore my options, and the incompetent representative utilized that date to terminate my service. The representative not only charged my credit card on file for the remaining portion of my installation contract, but also issued another bill for the remaining monitoring service. The total bill for asking questions is $1400.00. When I called to discuss this egregious error, I had to stay on the phone for an hour and a half with ADT customer care and account management persons to fix the problem. They claimed to have reversed everything, but when I checked my account this morning, the bill was still there. I should have known because I have had issues with them from day one--for example, receiving a late fee on a payment that was made online ON the due date...still do not understand that one. Your monitoring fee will increase exactly one year from the date of the signed contract and will continue to increase annually. Therefore, you should not anticipate that signing a five-year contract will lock in the attractive introductory price they used to lure you. read more

Their business model makes it almost impossible to cancel their service, 19 months after selling our house and canceling our service they are still billing our account. We have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve, and I have no confidence that they actually will resolve it. They knew our account was cancelled, called every month trying to reestablish service at our new home. The new owners transferred the service, so ADT is charging twice for the same house. Got to the point to having to dispute the charges with our bank, our bank credited our account to only have ADT charge for 4 months of service again last month. I am offended by their service. I had issues with the key pad version. It got to the point of being able to open the doors and the alarm didn't go off. They wanted to charge me for coming out because he couldn't see what was wrong. They up-sale me to the touch screen and this MF goes off 3 times in one night fir sensor failures. I have been with ADT for over 30 yrs in this current location it has been 19 years. The system was beeping would stop. I had 3 false alarms that cost me $25 a piece. before I know it I could have had another security system that will at least work with me and the cost is much cheaper. Plus the setvice is awful they came out to fix the system and they did t have all the parts. I guess back ordered but right after the Tech left the system started beeping again. NO STARS, but I am forced to use 1 Absalutly thr worst company I have ever delt with for everything and anything in my life. This company has absalutly no idea from one person to the next what is going on. They do not have any clue to who is installing, billing or serviceing anything. Don't believe me, sign up and find out for yourself. I received my service on 12/11/2023, and it it has not worked properly since. The time on the cameras are west coast, and I live in Florida. 7 technictians have come out and no one knows why. They have charged me for all seven at a cost of $59.99 for each tech, but I am still under warrenty. After I told them that, they STILL have not refunded me my money and are STILL deducting money from a credit card, they informended me was removed from thier system. I was on the phone with them for 3 hours today going over all the deductions they removed, and even gave them all the information they required and they told me it, "Was not them taking out the money", and it is my banks fault. You may also want to take a look at the number of classaction suites filed against them. I only wish I had have before I trusted the "Number 1 security company in the Nation". When you ho to the app, you can not pull up to see who is at the door. We have never been able to talk to anyone through the phone or the system if they are at the door. I have had ADT for over 25 years. In the past, if there was an issue, the would have a tech out to help in a short time. I have been on the phone with "customer service" for over 2 hours in the last week. They suggested a utube video. I was able to find the info online. All I wanted was to have a battery replaced. There is no way to know how much power is left. I am a widow, living alone, and worried that I will have no service as it will be another 2 weeks until a tech can come to my home. It is a very small matter of releasing a tiny screw to remove the battery (which I have purchased), and meanwhile, I don't know if the system will be down before that person comes by. I was promised a "call back" last week and no one has done so yet. I was informed there is a shortage of techs. I am not in the middle of nowhere, but in a major city....no techs? 2 weeks? This is not a company that I can recommend, nor would I buy the system again. The rates have gone up over 10% in the last few months, and seem to continue to do so. Buyer beware. I chose ADT six months ago because they have a name that marketing duped me into trusting. I paid about $600 for the panel to start my service (no big deal, expected). Then of course the monthly stipend. I was a little shaky when the minimum service contract was for five years, but I took the leap of faith anyway. Six months later my panel was dead and now I am stuck with a $400 replacement bill for a new panel if I want to continue any service. I could cancel if I want to pay over a thousand dollars to cancel my next four-and-a-half years. I do appreciate the technician handling my frustration like a pro, and his calmness while greater ADT is picking my pocket. Him, I thank for his service. But seriously, this is no way to gain trust as a company in today's market. I'm thankful for the modern tech companies of today challenging the practices of these larger pocket pickers of the past. If I had the opportunity to influence anyone with my experience, seriously consider a modern company like Ring, you can purchase your own equipment and you're not locked into years of uncertainty that the company leaves you feeling from the experience you've gained in just the first few months of service. We were charged for a service call on a new system that was only installed about a month, the representative said there would be no charge since it was under warranty. Then my credit card got charged, I called several times to find out that an invoice was NEVER submitted by the repair guy and that my account is credited the $200 + dollars and my monthly monitoring charges would be deducted from this credit. This did not happen, I am getting charged anyway. If you can't trust ADT with your credit card, how can we trust them to protect us with a good monitoring system. It bothered me so much, here I am 4 years later finally writing a negative review about the experience. TERRIBLE! System alarm goes off frequently... when home sitting on couch. Tech's come out multiple times, replaced batteries, replaced alarm. They leave & after a week, same thing. Also-- they'll sell u a camera, set it up BUT they won't tell u you'll need a dvr, keyboard & mouse to download app on your cell. (Wtf??!!) Yes, that IS what customer service told us yesterday when I downloaded app on my cell before calling & didn't see our camera on there. There are FIVE different apps. I downloaded adt home-- which one would think covers the home system--including the camera. She couldn't even tell us WHICH app to use. Camera is useless. Alarms go off daily if we don't just leave it disabled. So it's always disabled now. DO NOT GO W ADT. Absolutely a scam & worthless. Wtf good is it if we have to leave it disabled??
