I wanted my ADT service moved from one apartment to another in the same building. The system was working fine in the old place. I was sold a new system that has a 'hub' instead of a panel with a display. Not pleased with that. In my opinion, it is a poor design. The new system is ADT+ which is a self-setup. I got it working but could not get it connected to my Google Nest device. Called ADT support several times. Every time they stepped me through the same thing to no avail. Their support structure is totally worthless. The frontline support does not have visibility into ADT+ accounts, but they try to assist anyway, in some instances, making thing worse. I was 'transferred' during most of these calls, only to get dropped or transferred to a department that was closed. I was finally scheduled for a 'Virtual Visit' on Sunday afternoon, at 12:30 PM. No one called until 1:41 PM. Of course, I missed the call, and I am now responsible contacting them to reschedule. Tried to reschedule through email off their website, but not response. This rating is based on ADT's failure to provide reasonable support to setup their system to function as advertised. I feel like I wasted my money on this one. ADT determines a camera was installed incorrectly. Mind you, ADT installed it incorrectly. We wait A MONTH for the replacement. A different ADT worker comes and says the worker who said it should be replaced is out sick and his manager wont approve the replacement for a camera not functioning correctly because it was not properly installed. ADT made us wait a month to say, in effect, so what your camera isn't working BECAUSE ADT DIDNT INSTALL IT CORRECTLY? Too bad, you're paying for a security camera that doesn't work correctly. I've been a customer for just 6 months. Stay away! if you ever have issues, customer service and technical support will jerk you around and waste your time. They will deny you to talk to a supervisor, and even hang up on you. I can't even cancel because that department isn't open on Saturdays, probably by design. They keep charging me 1$ late fees for no reason, and additional charges that my contract clearly says I won't be charged for. The installation team for my security system was at my house from 5:45pm- 12am. After telling me the cost of the devices I ordered, they installed my devices and said I actually owed 120$ more. Haven't been able to get in contact with anyone online. They keep saying they are transferring me to a supervisor and then hang up on me, or they hang up on me the second they answer the phone. I have a business account with ADT. It all went well until I requested to transfer services to our new location. I have been calling for FIVE days begging them to come out to the new facility to give me a new estimate for the new location. I get transferred on average to 4 departments each time I've called. I am switching to a local company who produced a quote for us within 1 hour. Disappointing to say the least. Their small business department doesn't communicate to their commercial department, they can't even see each other's notes. Happy to drop them. read more

ADT, why have a great product like this and then scam people when they have to move? Number one, you can't take the equipment you paid for to your new house and you have to buy it all over again. Why? Why do that when your costumer already paid for it. Number two, it is a three year contract. You know people move all the time, you don't make any exceptions, not even for hardship situations. You must pay 70% of the total remaining contract. We are canceling a year early because my husband lost his job, and $600s to pay out the rest of it. And I cant even take the equipment? Come on. I have had ADT for years and when my husband passed away, one of their sales reps stopped by to recommend installing cameras. I was charged a ton of money for the cameras and install. Over a year later and the cameras still don't work most of the time. Last month a tech stopped by once again and let me know the cameras are no good. Now a week after the new cameras have been installed, once again is one of cameras is disconnected. Don't waste your money on ADT security cameras. Self-installed Lorex cameras make more sense. I have those at my business and haven't had a single issue. 8 cameras and installation were a steal compared to ADT. Their customer service has not been much help. I have been an ADT customer ever since 2000/2001; my home was built brand new in 1998 but, the building contractor who built my home installed a sub-par alarm system so, I called ADT requesting an updated alarm system be installed. FYI: The first ADT installers were SUB-CONTRACTORS (sub-par) working out of Sacramento CA called, Magnum Security Systems. After Magnum installed the first ADT Alarm System, my account was transferred to the Pleasanton office about six months later but, I never received any kind of notification! Upon calling and discovering my ADT account was transferred to the Pleasanton ADT Office, according to the ADT Administrative Head Supervisor who surprisingly informed me my ADT account is now being administratively managed by the "ADT's Main Division." Years later, fast forwarding to 2009, I requested my account be transferred to the "ADT CORPORATE DIVISION." Please note: The operative words used are "ADT's Corporate Division!" As soon as your account transfers to "ADT Corporate Division," your ADT system will be monitored via the corporate ADT services. BTW: Doug Xiques is the corporate ADT head sales manager at the Pleasanton Office; I always speak to Mr. Xiques regarding upgrading my ADT Security System. The ADT Alarm Technicians who visit my home either upgrading or repairing my ADT Alarm Systems are ALWAYS ADT Corporate Alarm Technicians wearing blue ADT Polo Shirts! No ADT subcontractors are allowed installing any ADT component in my home-ever. I had this company for a decade. Did it do its job? sure, ...but then I went to cancel because I sold my home- I was shuffled around and spoke to 8 different people, and was on the phone for 34 minutes. Why? I can only assume I was transferred around because the company dings their reps if you cancel service without transferring to a new location so no one was actually willing to help me. Atrocious way to do business. I think the company assumes that you, the consumer, will give in and continue to use them wherever you may end up. In my case, it sealed their coffin. We bought our home eight years ago and the previous owners had ADT installed. We called to have it removed, but they said we would have to pay for that. So, ok fine the equipment can stay then. But for the past 4 months now the control panel goes off daily. It started at 9 am to the current time of 7 pm. When we call about it, we are told we can not do anything as we did not have the account. It's our house NOW, so yes we do and we don't want it in the first place. We see this as harassment from ADT. They want us to call to sell them their services, BUT WE DO NOT WANT IT! Why is that so hard to understand? I was told that I have to pay an additional month because it could take them a month to turn it off. They set up my security system in a day but it takes a month to turn it off. Seems everyone is receiving terrible service from ADT; add me to the list. Our alarm went off one night briefly and stopped on its own. I called ADT and chose the "my alarm is going off" selection from the menu. It said "We are experiencing a higher call volume than usual. Your wait will be more than 20 minutes. We recommend you hang up and go online". I called back. Same message. I called the next day during the middle of the day, when they shouldn't be that busy; I got a person, Diane, who told me I'd have to wait more than 20 minutes to talk to anyone more senior than she, and "sorry, we are experiencing a higher call volume than usual". No, apparently that's always the wait because they must be extremely short staffed! I tried leaving a complaint email on their site with a "request us to call you back", and guess who never got a call back? To think that if we had an emergency, they're understaffed, makes me feel very apprehensive. Worse, I have recommended them to others. The one department not understaffed apparently is billing! They'll take your money, but I honestly don't think we're paying for anything, folks. read more

I wish I could give negative stars to ADT. Over the last 6 months, I've experience the WORST customer service I've ever experienced with any company. I will try to sum up the MULTIPLE calls to and from ADT every time there has been an issue. One of our sensors went bad several months ago. How do we know? We were getting false alarms with one of our motion sensors inside the building 2-3:00am multiple times a week, ADT responded with sending the police each time. Every time they found that there were no doors ajar and nothing recorded on the cameras, making it obvious the sensor had gone bad. And here is where ADT we found that their customer service department is not only lacking, it's an absolute joke. If I was not so angry, I would laugh. But they've cost me a lot of time, money and energy. I am now in the process of changing companies and investing in new equipment. When you call ADT, you reach a service department that can NOT do anything for you remotely, only the technician department can. They will not transfer you, instead, they take notes and schedule a CALL with the technician department the following day. Several times, I have missed the call - or - like today, I never received a call but did get an email stating that they are "sorry they missed me" and asked me to follow a link to reschedule the call that I never received. When you finally get the call, the technician will walk you through the steps of trouble shooting. In my case, they had me (several times with different technicians) walking back and forth from rooms, going through the key pad all while they're directing me to do things from the comfort of his/her office or home, I suppose, while I'm crawling on furniture, reaching for motion detectors to change batteries or detectors. If I don't understand or they need to see the job - they will FaceTime me. How nice. They do not come in person, ever. They save gas, time and money by making me do the leg work. This happened a few times before they decided that we actually needed a new sensor. Twice they "reset" it remotely and once they sent me new batteries for it to change. The fourth call was to tell me how to install the new sensor which is screwed into a high beam in our building. Since then, the new sensor is still causing issues, with another call this week. Either it hasn't been set up right "remotely" or it's another bad sensor. I am changing companies and I am not only disappointed in ADT and their customer service, I am angry. I don't write reviews often, I don't have time for it. But I hope to save ANYONE else from going through what I've been through with this company. Finally when I gave the installer the opportunity to take a moment, go to management and familiarize themselves with the actual recorded phone call between myself and the corporate shill that misrepresented my order, Lamar came to the door after allegedly speaking with" his manager" with a compounded misrepresentation saying upon review of the recording an allowance your shill " gave us" was the way he told me, that is Lamar lied that your shill told me on the phone, the technician at the door, Lamar, relayed to me that the shill would be able to incorporate the upsale of additional cameras and other devices (your shill and I agreed they would be in pkg), that they would be additional costs amenable because of these so called great discounts, allowances and freebies given by your shill to us over the phone. BTW, never expressed under those term, said any context alluding to that...a huge lie, period. Compounding lies upon lies easily reduced to the belly button fluff they are if any reasonable person had actually listened to our supposedly recorded phone consultation Because I have, maybe only once in my life, been misled and lied to this badly before by an organization, there is nothing I believe You folks about and certainly can not trust you to provide my home and family with its protection. Terrible CSR, the sales rep will bother you in the evenings after business hours to sell you their product. It costs a lot just for a mobile service plan. it is 3 times as expensive as my phone account, which has unlimited data/calls/etc. The products were faulty, and ADT charged me service fees to replace them UNDER WARRANTY. They charged me service and labor fees to replace their broken sensor that they installed.. Cancellation cost me over 4 hours of wait time on the phone, and the CSR 'Jerome' from Texas, after trying to sell me a bunch of excuses and alternatives, instead of cancelling my account, this jerk transferred me to "relocation services" and left the call. ADT is trash. Their sales reps are annoying. Their product is faulty. Their service will cost you. Cancellation is expensive, and EXTREMELY time consuming. I've had nothing but issues with ADT. It first started the day I got their services, the technician came out and went over equipment options with me. Once I decided on what I wanted he had me sign the contract and began installing only to install the door sensors and then tell me that I need to have an electrician come out to install the cameras. My house is already fully wired for the devices from the previous owners with ADT equipment already there but we were updating. So after being tricked into a contract to then be told that I need to spend more money to have an electrician come out and install the cameras from ADT, that is issue number one. 2, their auto payment system is jacked. They hadn't pulled a payment in a couple months and then decide to pull everything at once. No notices, email, letter in the mail etc. They just pulled payment when they wanted. There was no issues with account on my end there was an issue with the system in which the service rep confirmed with me and I was also charged late fees. The equipment is crap, there is such a lag in the sensors. The cameras (when they work) glitch all the time. If you're thinking about getting ADT save yourself the trouble and just don't. They don't even have their own equipment they use google products. You can save yourself a lot of headache and just buy from google but honestly their floodlight cameras suck so I would look at other options. read more

Do Not Buy any ADT equipment or services. They are a scam and they reap off the hard workers by trying to sell you equipment that you do not need, they tried to push me into buy new alarm equipment. I live in an apartment and the system is designed to unplug and take with you. This is the issue, they said because I am move from my 2nd floor apartment to a 4th floor apartment, that is the exact same size and design, that I need new system, they couldn't intelligently tell me why, other than it won't work. I had this system a year, I told to keep my system in test mode, I packed up the whole and put away. I have made multiple calls to ADT and to Melissa with ADT, I am waiting for her call back. Safe Haven (a company that works with ADT) came to my home and said the mortgage company sent them and offered to cover install as I just purchased my home. I assumed this was correct but after having the service for 6 months, I found it not to be worth the money so I cancelled it. Also finding out the mortgage did not send them to me which was a lie. I had to pay off the cancellation fees to Safe Haven which I did in order to cancel ADT. Since cancellation, they continued to charge my card for several months I have since contacted safe haven and ADT since Aug asking for a refund. They both say yes I am entitled to the refund but they blame each other and say one is responsible for the refund. Back and forth with them and still no refund. Stay clear of this company. We have had ADT now for several years and so far it has been great. So great, that we decided to add an additional camera to our home. The sales process was seamless and everything was great. They even took the payment that day and scheduled the install. Then things shifted. We started with an install date with a 5 hour window. No one showed up, so we called. They said the driver was in a minor accident and he couldn't make it. No big deal and the driver was ok (glad to hear it). So they rescheduled for the very next day with another 5 hour window. After rearranging my work schedule and twiddling my thumbs waiting for another 5 hours. They didn't show up, again! No communication with me at all. I called again and they were super apologetic and offered to come out again the next day. They said that the install team "showed that it was already installed". Ok. No big deal. Mistakes happen. So here I am on the 3rd straight day...waiting... waiting... and more waiting. Nothing! No phone call. I finally just gave up and called to cancel the order. The only good thing about the situation is they said they were refunding me right away and cancelling the order at my request. The whole thing was just plain weird. I am giving one star rating despite all of customer service representatives I ever talked till date are very knowledgeable and professional and gets my top marks. This is first time in 12 years I am checking out ADT reviews online and glad to find one star overall rating, confirming I am not alone. I have been customer of ADT since 2012. In the last 3 weeks, you just can't get to any help on customer service number other than for new sale, or upgrade features or cancellation of your service. Technical helps takes hours and hours of holding. I never got any help and finally dropped more than 15 calls. I got to help by choosing cancellation and account manager helped me. To add to your insult and trouble they keep playing different ADT greatness messages over and over and over again. Their new equipment is full of troubles, far below competitors and cheaply made. I will be looking and exploring my options to walk out. I guess ADT is now too big to fail and top management has become arrogant and disrespectful of paying residential customers. ADT monthly subscription is highest in industry, such a shame. It could be that ADT wants to focus on business customers and ignore residential customers. In that case, they should be just honest and tell us. we will find other options. Again, ADT customer service representatives are all excellent as far as my experience goes. Company seems to be highly mismanaged by top management or totally ignoring their customers recently. Please do not ask me to contact you. Rather send these reviews link to your top management. They will know what to do if they have any tiny bit of sense of integrity or honesty in them. I would have easily given you 5 starts but for my experience of last 3 or 4 weeks in the last 12 years. Top management should personally email sincere apologies to all customers in email. I have been a long term ADT customer. I recently sold my home and called IMMEDIATELY upon confirming my closing to cancel service, that day. You can't do it online. You have to speak to a representative, whose sole job appears to be selling you a new system in your new home. I wasn't ready to do that, the closing on our existing home was a whirlwind. No problem, after half an hour, service cancelation processed. Flash forward to the new bill I got, for the next 30 days. Seems you are forced to pay for service another 30 days, on a home you don't own, because magically ADT is the only tech thing you can't just flip a switch and terminate. How the heck is someone selling a home supposed to legit give 30 days notice??? I am SHOCKED that no one has certified a class to sue ADT for this systemic rip off. I use ADT security services for my home alarm system, 10 yrs now. I wanted to install 3 cameras on my house and the process is frustrating. I called 4 different times and each time I got a different quote. I believe sales is commission based, so the more they charge you, the more they get back. I would think that for a customer of 10 years, I would get the best deal possible for an upgrade. As you could imagine, the process of them selling you a service and taking your money is QUICK, the process for them installing what you bought, SLOW. It's summer and I have 2 young kids, they want to go out and do things, naturally. ADT made an appointment with me to install my cameras between 8am-12pm. On the say of install I received a phone call at 11:40am saying that they will not be able to make their appointment. That was an entire day wasted for my kids. The entire day was wasted because as you know, in Southern California during the summer the afternoons are hot, if you plan to do something outdoors with young kids you have to do it in the morning. Rescheduled day #2: Due to the 'installation no-show' the first time, customer service assured me that I would be the install 'priority' of the day, 'first thing in the morning'...nope. Like I said before, they're quick to take your money and after that...service is pretty poor. Save yourself the frustration and disappointment, purchase the cameras on your own and install them yourself. UPDATE: 2nd make-up re-appointment was cancelled and rescheduled for 12pm-4pm on the same day. I am now waiting for my 3rd attempt for ADT to upgrade my system and install cameras around my house. After the review posted, a rep from ADT contact me: 'Thank you for reaching out and sharing these concerns. We apologize for the amount of frustration these experiences have caused. After further review, we show that your appointment today is scheduled for an arrival window of 12-4 Pm with the installer XXXX XXXXX. Terrible company. Terrible service. In humane treatment. I have been a customer for over 40 years. I have a maintenance agreement which costs about $800 per year. Although I had been paying the bills for 33 years at this address and the account was in both mine and my husband's name, when my husband died, ADT would not put the account in my name. ADT told me I needed to go through a credit check, sign a new (more expensive) agreement and set up a new account. When I asked if I could add a camera, ADT told me I needed to buy an entirely new system.... apparently my $800 per year maintenance means nothing since they no longer support the equipment I have in my house. If you are older or looking for protection for your older parents or loved ones, I cannot say how strongly I recommend using another service. scheduled an appt today for 11am in pompano beach with Laura, she showed up 20 min late. after which she claims appt was between 11aam and 1pm, I called to verify 11 information, I was correct appt was 11am. Laura's manager, Laura being the representative for pompano beach area, or so I was informed. Laura's manager called me, attempted to discredit everything I said, claiming to be on a call with Laura the whole time as she entered the location 20 mins late, Laura's manager veronica I believe was here name, then called me rude when I was able to prove she was late, did not call till 19min after the appt time. when I confronted laura she sends me an screen shot of her personal calendar with 11-1pm, again on her personal calendar. At the time you cancel your service (due to moving in our case) we were served with a "30 day notice" requirement. They offer an extensive period to get your to sign up for service at the new address, but it still feels to me a low ball, small print, gotcha. Besides, their service has lots of room for improvement. Programming interface is 20 years old. Devices communicate on a network that often had interruptions and is fundamentally flawed. They may have a big name, but their service doesn't match it. read more

If I could give no stars I would! I own a small business in Buena Park, CA and have had ADT for 9 years. In the 9 years I have had more false alarms than I can count. Each time the police say it is a motion sensor and ADT each time says there is nothing wrong with their equipment - but they wont send anyone out unless I pay $190!!! I just got a letter from City of Buena Park saying I am going to be charged a $150 fine next time there is a false alarm. DO NOT USE ADT FOR HOME SECURITY unless you don't mind the following frustrations: Unexplained fees Unexpected charges Misrepresented services I used ADT for 2 years and then i had to move to another state. Because I decided not to continue in the new state, I was slapped with a $428.04 charge of disconnection fee. When I challenged the fees through customer service, they hung up on me multiple times. As a last resort, I wrote a letter to the corporate office to no avail. it has been a year and I have yet to hear from them. The bill was eventually sent to collections. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau for unfair business practice. read more

I went with ADT but I will be replacing the system. Their cameras are always going offline. They cant seem to figure it out and make excuse after excuse. They sell a crap product. Customer service is clueless and you cant ever hear them with their crappy phone system they use. It doesn't help that this particular lady mumbled. read more
