Our initial contact with the company was fine. Pressure from the sales team on the phone, but that's normal. We needed a system and signed up for it. The technician that came to the house was awesome. Walked through all the options and determined what features suited our needs best. This was a couple months ago and everything has been fine up till now. Then the day before we are to leave town on a trip we get a trouble light on our keyboard pad. I call the company and they tell me it's a communication problem with the cell tower and that the system isn't working until they get it rectified. Didn't really like hearing that. I am paying for security and they tell me I have none. They say they need to come out and switch the keypad and do some reconfiguration's. I told them that I am leaving in the morning and they tell me sorry, there's nothing they can do. So I have to leave town with no security system. I say don't you have emergency technicians. They tell me yes but is $300 to come out and then $99 for every 15 minutes that they are there. Why the heck would I pay them to come out and fix their own problem. I asked to speak to their supervisor, who tells me the same sad story, that they are so sorry. They will not waive the fees and leave me defenseless as I go on vacation. That is flat out ridiculous that their system goes haywire and they want me to pay to fix it. Then to top it all off, while I'm on vacation I get a phone call from them saying the technician is at my house and wants to know where I am. Nice communication. If I knew then what I know now, I never would've chosen this company. read more

I wish I would have read the Yelp reviews before getting into business with ADT. They continually have the wrong information in their system for our home and their customer service is AWFUL. If I was truly having an emergency when my alarms were going off, ADT would not have stopped or helped the situation. Don't waste your money! I will not recommend them to anyone nor will I renew my contract. read more

I would give negative stars if I could! I have had a couple of extremely unpleasant dealings with aggressive sellers coming to my home. (we are new homebuyers and these vultures somehow figured that out). The first, a man named "Darryl" apparently lied and said he had an appointment that had been set up by the real estate agent, (I called her and it wasn't true), and he came at a very bad time. Sent him away, he was not the worst. The second, a "Stephone Mitchell", was an extremely aggressive man who would not take no for an answer. I told him we had already had someone come by, and he claimed the first one wasn't an "authorized dealer". I told him now was not a good time several times, (I have witnesses, as a friend was over helping unpack) he still pushed for "five minutes of our time". Showed me an ADT badge, gave me a card Fine. He went into a diatribe about the "one time home buyer special" break ins, statistics, blah blah, for several long minutes, and I finally told him now was NOT a good time, to leave, we'd set up an appointment for later, just to shut him up. Ended up setting up an appointment for 7 PM Thursday, just to get him out of here. (I now know to call 911 should this ever happen again). The entire situation was extremely uncomfortable, he was pushy, acted like I was an idiot, for not wanting to "protect my stuff". I felt extremely bullied, harassed, and wanted him out. I called back this morning to cancel my "Thursday at 7 PM appointment", and he asked why, to which I stated that I was uncomfortable with the aggressive marketing tactics and that it made me really uncomfortable. He interrupted me, starting in on "You NEED to know whats going on..." and I interrupted him and said, "and THERE it is. " to which he responded by hanging up on me. I will NEVER use or recommend ADT to anybody, ever. Shady people, aggressive bullying marketing tactics, an over all HORRIBLE experience, and I would never ever ever trust these jerks with my SSN or any other information. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB as well. read more

Can I give ADT less than one star? ADT is quite probably the worst company on the planet. Their sales staff will bold face lie to make a sale, their service department will cut corners that could jeopardize your safety (no power to a hardwired smoke detector) and a customer service department who puts in a phone loop for 15 minutes before you are given a real person, and then the real person cannot e-mail a list of items needed to cancel a contract that was supposed to have been transferred two years ago. We had ADT for years, and for the most part, the service was fine. The problem we now have is that we cancelled ADT in mid-December, and we are still being auto charged every month for the service. We call every time we get our new credit card bill, and we have to explain everything each time we call, and we're told we'll get a credit. This still has not been resolved. Our service has been cancelled, they are not monitoring our alarm (in fact, the alarm is unplugged), yet they are auto charging our credit card. Can't they detect that we are unhooked, and then put two and two together, and stop auto charging us? It's a hassle to have to deal with this time and time again (in December when we called to cancel, in January when we got the next bill and were charged, and now again in February we've been charged). It's not rocket science, ADT, stop charging us for a service that you are no longer providing. read more

After I logged complaint to the ADT corporate customer service regarding the move and stand on my argument for 3 weeks not to re-sign a new contract as this is a case of move of service ( which happens to each of US in the whole world ) . ADT is now agreed to continue/honor the rest of the contract at the new location. Thanks the corporate customer service to step in and resolve the issue. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. ANYTHING IS BETTER. We purchased the ADT system, got door alarms on all main floor entrances and a motion sensor from the main floor to the second floor of our home. That didn't stop the burglars from entering our home by breaking a window and stealing our 50" flat screen tv and a number of other items out the window. We contacted ADT to upgrade our system to add glass break alarms. The salesman was more than happy to sign us up. That was back on 8/28/11. Unfortunately, it has now been two and a half months and they have yet to install our glass break alarms. They took until October to set us up with an appointment despite frequent calls from us inquiring about when they would be able to install the glass break alarms. For the first appointment, they gave us a 5 hour window and never showed up. For the second appointment, the tech who came out did not know we had a GE panel and was equipped with different glass break alarms that were not compatible with our panel. They then scheduled us a third appointment. We told them that time would not work for us. We then got a call from a tech at our home asking where we were. I wish that I had read the other reviews before purchasing this system. I agree with them 100% read more

Been customer since 2010 and moving so needed to cancel. Can't do it on line so had to call. Was surprised I had to give 30 days notice!!! Why??? Then had to get transferred around and took 25 minutes to get it done. Way to difficult. Go with Xfinity. They are less expensive. read more

A few years back, the news warned of burglars in the Memorial City -Houston area who were ADT employees. Somehow, they gained access to the homeowners pins (either the door or the private pin to contact the agents). Of course, it was tremendous to hear that a security company could not maintain the safety of their customers information. However, while shopping again for a monitoring service, I decided to give it a try. As soon as I related the episode to the salesperson, he was quick to affirm that "the company could not be responsible if the employee starts to act bad" which I replied that the company should have prevented any employee to gain access to this kind of data. it is clearly a flaw in the system that apparently has not been fixed. Needless to say, I will never even consider it again. read more

Can I give zero stars? Sales person was an hour late and then did not send the proposal until after I called corporate three different times to complain. Sales guy called me and was worse insincere and condescending that I am going to find another security company. I was a long time ADT customer but not any more. read more

I bought a new house, a salesman sold us the security system. Was going good for a while and for 2-3 months we keep getting false alarms. It's a tamper alarm. Nobody's touched the system. We had the installer come back out try to fix whatever is wrong. Well we kept getting tamper alarms. I call my rep to come get the system. He does some calling and few days later an actual ADT service man shows up looks at the system, says the panel might need to be changed and he will have to reschedule to put a new one in. Well he had to call his boss for something. He also said he would need to have a new panel shipped here. So he comes back from his phone call says he has to change it out, oh and look he has a new panel. The hole point he's here is to put a new one on why waste more time. Just do the job right the first time. So I'm giving this another 30 days to see if anything goes wrong. I've been very disappointed so far with this service. If I could I would rate lower. Trust me your family is safer just having a bat next to your bed. Cant even count the number of false alarms due to faulty equipment. Best part is that they don't stand behind their products at all. Wanted me to pay them because they installed faulty sensors. Now 6 months after ending service they are trying to charge me for a false alarm that was a direct result of the faulty sensor. Customer service is horrendous and they don't even understand their own polices. read more

"Even Steven" showed up at my door. He was pushy and aggresive. Tried to come into my home before I could verify who he was, home alone, I decided to Talked with him out back. He tried to make it personal with me, he had other customers personal information sprawled out in the open. He was making fun of other potential customers. He kept trying to get my credit card # and soc sec #. I was not comfortable with this at all. 1. I had not decided if I was interested and 2. I saw how this guy was handling other customers personal information. He kept trying to schedule someone to come out that Day. I told him I would think about it. The next day he called to schedule a tech. To come to install the system. When I declined he was extremely rude and hung up on me-Terrible customer Service. I am so Glad I decided Not to use this company or get myself signed into a 3 year contract. He is around West Seattle. Don't even bother opening your door for this guy. read more

I have used ADT for several years and have never been particularly pleased with the customer service, but the customer service here is the worse. Very unresponsive. The salesperson did a great spiel about how he would be my contact person and would work with me on any issues with the system. He broke that promise not even one day into the service by not following up with the scheduled installation information, "forgetting" to confirm the installation time, and being very slow in confirming a necessary follow-up appointment. The customer service center is not much better. First, you're on hold for 20 minutes stretches, only to find that you've connected to the wrong department and must be transferred, only to wait another 20 minutes. Scheduling service is a nightmare. Apparently all the technicians are busy with other customers (wonder why?). To further complicate things, there seems to be some disconnect between the national and local offices as to who schedules appointments. If I had not already had the ADT system installed and am now past the cancellation date, ADT would be history. Take it from me. ADT talks a good game, but fall well short in delivery. I strongly recommend going elsewhere. read more
