We'll see how the system works, but getting it installed and on line was a nightmare. The installer had to come twice (he was very friendly, and on time - I'll give them that!), and then we had a whole series of issues with the connection, with the home office asking the installer questions he had never heard before, me getting calls asking questions I didn't understand and then being put on hold... It may be a good system once it is finally working, but if I had known how complicated and uphill it would all be, I'd have gone elsewhere. During installation, the technician had to "call home" FOUR times to finish installation, and had to ask fr my credit care each time. Does anyone know what they're doing? And just TRY calling them. Your call is very important to them, but please wait till an operator has the time... ADT people need some SERIOUS training. read more

Don't you dare call unless you're ready to sign up immediately. The sales guys are SO PUSHY! I called just to get an idea of the price and the guy would not let me off the phone unless I committed to an in home visit. He tried everything, including telling me, "You must not really care about the security of your home," when I declined to commit to an in home visit without talking to my husband about their prices first. I tried to be polite, thank him for his time and slowly back off the phone but he wouldn't give up! "One more thing..." I tried to politely get off the phone twice more before I had to firmly just say thank you again, then hang up on him. I'm not sure how they train these sales folks but I don't even trust the guy I was speaking with because he was being so unreasonably pushy. One of our ADT security cameras was stolen last Tuesday at our buisness and I couldnt get an appointment until Monday through our rep. I called the 1 800 number and got an appointment for Friday of the same week and gave specific info about which camera was stolen and since they scheduled me an 8 hour appointment window I asked they call 30 min before they came. Long story short I received no call, nothing was fixed or replaced and wont be until next week. Also it would have been nice if the company would have notified me in some way that our office building had vandals in it and our camera was stolen. I shouldn't have to be the one to notify them! What is the point of paying a security company if they dont monitor the building? Nothing I love more than a company that makes it difficult to receive the services you pay for. read more

Recently I ran into really bad situation with ADT Services in Bothell, WA. I don't know what happened within ADT services. What I observed is: 1. They seem not care much about their customers' needs and don't keep promise. 2. Important step is missing in their communication process. When they make a change internally, they don't let customers know in advance. I have used AD Home Security Services for many years and had very good impression on their security monitoring services. However, in early April, my home security system was dead for almost one month. I had to deal with ADT services in Bothell (I was mentioned Bothell office a few times when I called ADT scheduler), the quality of their services was very disappointing. 1. My family depends on ADT system for protection. But the scheduler couldn't book timely appointment no earlier than 4/21/2021. 2. On 4/21/2021 afternoon, I was waiting for a technician namely G for 5 hours. Nobody showed up. I called ADT and was told my schedule was changed to 4/28/2021 internally. Well, why didn't they call me about the change in advance, email, texting or phone call? 3. On 4/28/2021, the technician G with another guy came over. They identified the issue with all wired sensors. G said he didn't have a license to handle hardware subsystem. What? I expected him to make my system working. He installed some radio part. He promised me to let ADT hardware dept know the same day. 4. In 4/29/2021 morning, I didn't trust G's promise. So I called ADT scheduler phone again. As I worried, G didn't leave message on their services to request a hardware guy to come. Drop the ball again!!! When I said I was unhappy and thought to leave ADT, the lady called Bothell office and arranged on-site services for that afternoon. 5. In the afternoon of 4/29, a technician came over. He was pretty knowledgeable and identified the issue and replaced dead battery for the wired subsystem. Everything became working. Good! 6. However, the story was not over. On 5/3, a guy named N. from ADT feedback review replied to my survey result and agreed to call me on 5/7 2PM. N. didn't call me both that afternoon and the following monday. Neither further email nor texting message. Well, they leave me in the dark again!!! I feel ADT services depts have a lot of improvements to make otherwise they really hurt ADT business and customers' feeling! read more

Around 4 months ago, someone tried to enter our house at 2am, alerting our local police. Unfortunately, it did not also set off the alarm in the house, so we slept right up until the moment the police knocked on our door. We weren't able to find who tripped the alarm, and we could not have cancelled the police visit due to the alarm not sounding, so we were charged a false alarm fee. ADT assured us that we would be refunded this fee, but made us pay the fee first and jump through some hoops to get our money back (despite it being their equipment failing). I jumped through those hoops 3 months ago and haven't gotten anything back other than a form letter saying my request has been received. I've tried to resolve this situation over the phone, but they say there's nothing they can do about it. As if falsealarmresearch@adt.com is some foreign company they cannot contact. There is no phone number to reach anyone in the false alarms office about this issue--only fax and email, and email gets ignored. The whole reason we went with ADT was because we were told (by multiple ADT reps) that if we no longer wanted to use the monitoring services, we would be able to still use the alarm as a standalone system. What they failed to tell us was that the alarm would continue to beep EVERY 10 SECONDS after they stopped their services. There is no way to disable the beeping, so we are left with hundreds of dollars of useless hardware. read more

Couple of weeks before when I called ADT customer support to cancel my ADT service, I realized that I signed a three years contract with ADT and if I cancel I need to pay 75% of the service charge till the contract ends. When I got the service installed the sales person said though there is a three years contract, he is weaving it and I can cancel the service anytime. I am very lame to believe a sales agent's word. Now I end up having the service till the end of contract. Hope ADT and it's dealers can maintain some honesty with their customers. read more

So far we have had a great experience with ADT our salesman and technician were very informative and honest. We were given three recommended options for security from our technician and when we didn't want to upgrade to certain equipment, there was no pressure and no questions asked. He installed what we asked and was thorough in showing us how it worked and answering any questions. We were quoted a certain number and charged that same number. We live our system so far and feel good having some added protection from this company. No complaints here. read more

I should have read the reviews and did more research before calling these bait and switch artists. There seems to be a consistent theme: on the phone the costs are totally different then the sales pitch, once they are in your home. Everything is more expensive from what you initially agree to on the phone and then they try and upsale via their installers. Never would recommend them. read more

Here's how ADT treats long-time customers: I'd been with them for almost 30 years, and then I moved to another house in the same city. Since they offer new customers a deal for $27/mo I assumed the transfer would be pro forma - no change and at the same rate. What a surprise I had! The rep came out, looked around, and said "Sir, I am able to offer you a substantial discount since you've been such a good customer - we can set you up for only a one-time moving fee of $750." I said I would think about it but in fact I was shocked and insulted. I tried 2 other security services and found both to be without any fees and at a reasonable monthly monitoring rate. When the ADT rep called back I did not even bother to respond. I no longer want anything to do with ADT. And I recommend the same for everyone else. read more

Never, ever, for ANY REASON use ADT. An absolutely fraud of a company. We had a full home alarm system installed about 14 months ago (under a 36 month contract) and it has NEVER worked. Not for a single day. We've had multiple technicians out (including several no shows) and despite never resolving the issues, nor replacing/reinstalling equipment, ADT refuses to replace the system, cancel the contract, provide any refund, or take ANY action to fix the problem. To cancel, they want us to pay an $850 early cancellation fee - for something that has never worked. We've spent countless hours on the phone with customer support, hours waiting on technicians (including some who directly told us the system was "sh*t" and they would never put it in their own home, but their hands were tied and they couldn't help us. So in lieu of any resolution, the only option is to keep the system disabled or it alarms all hours of the day and night due to system failures. And they still believe we should pay $65/month, or a huge fee to cancel. I sure hope to see a massive class action lawsuit ASAP. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN HISTORY!!!!! I WOULD RATE THIS BUSINESS A "0" if there was a zero. I have been a 25 year customer, first with Brinks and then ADT. I have had ADT in both my home and my summer home. Every time we need customer service we get the worst experience and each time I proclaim I am changing alarm companies.!!!!!! Problem, it would cost a small fortune to change companies however in the long run it would be worth every penny. Today we had an apt. which I made earlier this week. We are doing a major remodel of our home and we needed the "brains of the alarm system moved 3 and 1/2 feet. First of all the tech came out three weeks ago and quoted me close to 3k to make this move..... Really 3K for 3 and 1/2 ft? So of course we opt to do it ourselves. We reran the wiring and now are ready for the box to be remounted and the wires to be rehooked backed up to the system. At 8 am this morning the tech called and cancelled due to a small amount of snow flurries (had he waited 30 minutes to an hour the snow would have stopped as forecasted) and the roads clear as all the news channels reported. Now keep in mind we are in Washington State and a good indicator of bad roads or how bad it might be is if the schools are running late or are closed. We generally don't get a massive amount and they were only calling for flurries for a short while. It snowed here for 35 minutes (at the most) total accumulation 1/16 of an inch. if that but I went ahead and looked on WSDOT cameras knowing the tech would come from Bothell which is 25 minutes or so from my home via Interstate 5 and Interstate 405 the two main roads he would be taking and the main arterials. There was barely a trace to none. So when the tech called at 8 am and said the roads were treacherous I questioned it and was quite irritated. Not giving consideration that we had taken a day off of work and our contractors are working around this apt. NOTHING, just sorry the roads were too bad and reschedule...So I did just that, I called the 1.800 number and I asked the dispatcher where they were located and she told me the East Coast. I then explained to her that there was NO SNOW and if he had waited 30 minutes to an hour or even scheduled me later and took the closer apt. that there would literally be nothing on the grasses let alone the roads if there was any at all. She then put a gentleman on the phone who was in touch with the tech and he informed me IT WAS JUST TO TREACHEROUS to do so. FRUSTRATED I tried to compromise even though I explained to him there was NO SNOW and I was NOT ONLY watching the news, but the WSDOT cameras and that the tech was being ridiculous. I said when I made this apt. there was Saturday open so please reschedule to Saturday. He then told me to hold came back and stated due to Super Bowl Sunday that Monday would be the soonest they could come out.. WHAT REALLY??????? ARE YOU JOKING we just took time off of work and there is NO SNOW... YOUR tech isn't showing and SUPER-BOWL SUNDAY IS YOUR REASONING!!!! WHAT THE HELL?????? I then asked to speak to the supervisor and was put on hold for 20 plus minutes.... So I hung up and called back and asked for a supervisor. I went through the whole scenario again and she told me that the technician said the roads were too treacherous. I told her well then lets get him out tomorrow since they are calling for rain. She came back and said the best they can do is Monday. I told her fine send your tech to Interstate 5 because that is where you will find all of your equipment I AM DONE WITH ADT AND YOUR LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!! At which point a different sup got on and assured me they could meet the Saturday deadline of 12-5. Really??? I worked for Verizon for 32 years as a tech and come hell high water, floods, snow, ice we made our deadlines and commitments. ADT NEEDS TO regroup, go BACK TO THE BEGINNING and take LESSON FROM THE PREDECESSORS such as BRINKS and learn about customer service.......I have been dis-satifisied with ADT for so very long the next incident I WILL BE SWITCHING TO SONITROL EVEN IF IT COSTS ME UP FRONT... Sales person told me I needed $6000 worth of equipment to safely protect my home after telling me on the phone that I had a credit for over $1000 worth of equipment and that I would only pay the monthly amount for a 3 year contract. Very high sales pressure. Go on line and look for USA today's recommendation for best security system.. a much better product and cheaper rate. I started my service October 10, 2017 and one month later have had nothing but problems and bad service. It started with a "bait and switch" when I was told I could have the service for $26.99. THEN, after the system was install ed, the technician tells me he did not recommend that service since it requires a landline which can be cut or not work if the electricity goes out. So the cost went from $26.99 to $52.99. My EMERGENCY light kept going off and technicians tried four times to resolve it. I had to wait a week in between each service to get an appointment; was on hold for 30 minutes at a time trying to make appointments and state my situation; was hung up on; spoke to numerous supervisors; waited 5 hours one day and they showed up at 8pm; was told they would return the next day and they never showed. The technicians that came to my home were always very nice but always different. Was told turnover rate was great and they were training new technicians all the time. This did not instill confidence in me with ADT. This is my fourth service call in 35 days and I do not know if the problem has been resolved yet. I will find out when the Emergency light comes on in the middle of the night and the system starts beeping again. Due to all the problems I have had, I would not be able to recommend ADT to my friends. read more

Signed a three-year contract with ADT and had bad service from the day of installation. The Tech was lazy and didn't want to be there. Kept asking why I wanted this and why I wanted that, I wanted a wired video camera and ended up with a Ring doorbell camera. Over the course of a year and half I replaced multiple batteries in sensors because the system kept going off and telling me the battery was low or I would get tamper alarms. I was afraid to arm the system when I left my house in fear it was going to off. When I armed it at night it woke me up in the middle of the night. They raise the prices and don't notify you. When you question this, they just simply claim they sent an email, no letter to my address, just an email that I never received. What can I do? It's the you said I said game, and ADT will just win. What a scam! So unfortunately, I am being required to pay a rather large of sum for an early termination fee for a horrible system, if you ask me they breached their end of the contract and I should owe nothing, they should owe me money! On the bright side I will at least save some of the money I would have paid to this company if I had continued to pay the high cost of monthly monitoring for a horrible system for the remainder of my contract. I am glad to be done with them. I wish there was an option for zero stars this company don't even deserve one star. Don't waste your money on ADT! Do not sign a contract! If you have a problem, you will never get a local person, but instead will get a call center, and will be shuttled around until you finally throw your hands up in despair. Nobody knows their ass from a hole in the ground. I had a $90 mystery charge in addition to my regular monitoring fee of $38/mo, and after multiple attempts to clear this up, I have decided to just pay it so I cancel my "service" once and for all. But what do you know, it will take 30 days to "process" the cancellation order, so I will have to pay forward for nothing. I had to speak to 3 different departments for this privilege. Here is a typical exchange from ADT: Ring, ring, "Hello". "This is ADT monitoring service. We are getting a blah blah signal from your system." (a code that has no translatable meaning) Me: "What does blah blah mean?" ADT: "I don't know, ma'am, you're just getting a blah blah signal." Me: "What should I do about it?" ADT: "I don't know, ma'am, I'm just the monitoring service, you'll have to call the service dept. for that." 800 number, multiple menus, finally reach service only after first going through "sales" since they were the only dept. that answered. Me: "I got a call fr ADT alerting me that my system is putting out a blah blah signal, can you tell me what that is?" ADT: "No ma'am, you'll have to schedule a service appt. for that. Would you like for me to transfer you to the national service dispatching department?" And on and on... read more

Had to tell the sales man to leave due to him being an idiot. As some One who makes a living reading people's behaviors this guy should have been a politician. Each time his lips moved another lie rolled out. His idea of where to place sensors was a joke. Anyone who's investigated a break in knows sliding glass doors are a weak pint of any home. He tried to convince my wife and I that all we needed was a glass break sensor near by. I can defeat most glass doors in less than one min with out breaking the glass, they are easier to open than to break. There needs to be a -10 button for companies like this. read more

Wow am I glad I read these reviews! I had scheduled an initial service meeting for May 9, but this gave me pause. I called to cancel the meeting, and after being rerouted five times, the customer service rep has the audacity to say, "So, you went from wanting to protect your home and family to not caring?" I replied with, "Yes, and I also just went from being cordial to pissed off. Cancel my meeting now." Thank goodness I didn't give them my SSN over the phone when they asked for it (seriously, a SECURITY company wants me to fork over my SSN on a recorded call? Nope!) Never asked if he could come in to my house just helped himself and repeated that he was not trying to sell anything as walked himself up stairs to try not to sell me something. I have a problem with an alarm sensor and have to bypass part of my system to activate each time. The first "agent" I was connected with last Wed, in Atlanta, could only read from a book. Then, supposedly connected me with the local office an put me on hold. 40 minutes later, I hung up and called again. This time I was still in Atlanta, but was given an appt for the next Mon., Which happens to be today. Now, after having to take time off, I received a call at 2:45 PM telling me that: "I'm sorry, but you are going to have to reschedule." No! You will get a tech out here today. She told me she would have to talk to some one and call me back, which she did after 15 minutexs. A tech is supposed to be here by 4:00. We'll see. 3:35. According to agent at "alwaysthere@adt.com" who called me, our bill, which arrived at 3:25, is paid by adt. Will find out next month if we're billed for two months. 4:30 tech finally called. I canceled my account received a letter confirming it and stated they would send a final bill. a month later i received a letter from a colection agency for the final 29.00. Pay attention to these reviews and AVOID ADT for your home security needs!! I called and wanted to add devices to my system (i.e. PAY $$ to add to my system)...yet because I don't have it monitored and pay them a monthly fee, they will NOT add to nor service my account?! Wait...I want to pay to ADD to my system and the only way they will do it is if I sign a 36 month agreement? INSANE! I worked in the commercial security business for 10 years, so I knew enough to get in writing up front that I would own the system after 24 months and could cancel monitoring at anytime (I highly recommend doing this if you purchase a system). I also knew that all they really care about is locking you into the monthly service because they want that recurring revenue and easily make up any deficits on the installation cost over time. What I didn't expect, after paying them for many years, was that they wouldn't take $$ to add to a system...bad business and by the reviews, it is obvious that MANY people have similar poor customer service from this national company! Treat the customer right and they will refer you over and over. Treat customers poorly and they will tell everyone they know NOT to use your services. I wish there was an option for no stars! A sales rep, Chase, came out to my house to make arrangements for a new ADT system. Due to the amount of time i would have to wait before it could be installed and cost of the ADT services I decided to go with another company and cancel the instillation. I was told by Chase that it would take 3-5 business days for the $99 fee to be credited back to my credit card. After several emails and over a month later I still have not been credited that fee. The service man (on initial re-install) telling us "yep, everything is working fine" was a shocker because one of the smoke sensors (a wired one) wasn't even hooked up and couldn't POSSIBLY work. Billing problems, a salesperson who couldn't give two hoots about whether everything was working well, unsatisfactory dealings with "other" salespeople there who ONLY want new sales contacts from you but don't want to help you and.........did I say billing problems...........oh yes...........many. Did you sign a one page agreement think it was the complete contract? I found it isn't. A friend pointed me to the site to download the complete contract (there is a different contract for outside California covering all other states). This is where the penalty clause is. I filed a complaint with the FCC, the AG's offices in WA, Colorado ( where you send your money) & Florida their home office. I believe that the salesmen pulled a fast one by not disclosing the complete contract, AND I believe it negates the contract violating complete disclosure. We'll see when I get a response from any of the offices I filed with. I skipped BBB as they don't have any legal recourse & they are on the side of the business. Emailing them is a waste of time. After analyzing my emails & ADT's responses, I'm certain they are using software not unlike big companies use to triage resumes. The software picks out key words and the computer generates the response. NO HUMAN INVOLVED. I strongly suspect this same type of software is used by Century Link & Comcast. Ok, so they misinstalled a garage door sensor causing a false alarm and $100 bill from the city of Issaquah 1st week. Now about the terrible customer support. Trying to upgrade equipment gets you hung up on or bungling service tech, who don't know their own product lines, a request to speak with a manager got the robot on their general service line after a 5 minute delay. ADT's products are at least 60 % markup over retail for comparable products and while monitoring works well, automated systems do the same thing for much, MUCH less. Example ADT's door open sensors are $125 a piece, a monitor is $230, that's a huge scam and their low intro monitoring rate of $28, that's for a cable connection (not very secure). If you go wireless, you're up to $50 a month. Not to mention you're locked into a 3 year contract. Needless to say, protect yourself...from ADT. Beware those little key fob remotes, if you hit the panic button accidentally, be ready to pay $100 to municipal PD for a false alarm charge when they respond. My fix, take the key fob apart and you can very easily pry the panic button off the mother board disabling that one circuit, allowing the rest of the key fob to work without the false alarms. F/U, city now has another $500 in their till for every false alarm ADTs reported despite continued instructions from me about verifying alarms, etc. 1st. But their minimum wage monitoring slaves are probably too dumb to check account notes. We should have installed our own system, oh well...next time. BTW, if you hold down the key fob arm button for normal arming too long, surprise, panic alarm sounds again and you get another visit from local PD and another bill from the city. If you were a person ADT, I would have thrown you in the wood chipper long ago, errrrrrrr... read more

ADT is absolutely a terrible company to work with. After getting our house broken into and the door kicked in, we called them to put in security cameras. The sales person came out and made us feel like we were going to get the star treatment. When the install crew came out, the debacle started. The sales person messed the order up so badly that they had no idea what was going on. It took nearly 2 months to get the cameras in place and then they didn't even work. I've been fighting with ADT for almost 2 years to try to get a system that will work and all they do is send me in circles from one person to the next and I have to start all over with the story every single time. At this point, I'm done with them and plan to fire them as a service provider. I highly recommend that you choose wisely and go with another provider. read more

Our initial contact with the company was fine. Pressure from the sales team on the phone, but that's normal. We needed a system and signed up for it. The technician that came to the house was awesome. Walked through all the options and determined what features suited our needs best. This was a couple months ago and everything has been fine up till now. Then the day before we are to leave town on a trip we get a trouble light on our keyboard pad. I call the company and they tell me it's a communication problem with the cell tower and that the system isn't working until they get it rectified. Didn't really like hearing that. I am paying for security and they tell me I have none. They say they need to come out and switch the keypad and do some reconfiguration's. I told them that I am leaving in the morning and they tell me sorry, there's nothing they can do. So I have to leave town with no security system. I say don't you have emergency technicians. They tell me yes but is $300 to come out and then $99 for every 15 minutes that they are there. Why the heck would I pay them to come out and fix their own problem. I asked to speak to their supervisor, who tells me the same sad story, that they are so sorry. They will not waive the fees and leave me defenseless as I go on vacation. That is flat out ridiculous that their system goes haywire and they want me to pay to fix it. Then to top it all off, while I'm on vacation I get a phone call from them saying the technician is at my house and wants to know where I am. Nice communication. If I knew then what I know now, I never would've chosen this company. read more
