Absolutely hate ADT! First of all, when you get the DIY Home Alarm system, you only get 6-day tech support since they're not open on Sunday even though you can call for the regular 7-Day tech support that ONLY covers the more expensive ADT+. We had a blackout overnight and the keypad froze and we couldn't get out of the house because it was still in Night Mode. NO tech support available! We finally just took the battery out and it got stuck on "Configuring" mode and cannot pair to anything. Unreliable! So we decided to go back to our previous alarm, Frontpoint. And that's when we found out we are stuck on a 3-Year contract which was NOT mentioned by the sales person AT ALL! That is something that is incredibly important to know. The printed contract states it in very, very small letter. On top of that, the equipment is "on loan" so now we also have to pay all of that up front back so we can throw it all away! So I order to cancel from this shit plan, we're now stuck to pay $299.85 for the remainder of the 3 year service and $153.75 for the equipment "on loan". Should've seen the 1 star review. RB came to our new construction home on Thursday. He told us ADT was not compatible with the home tech panels we have. He proceeded to remove our panel, install a new one and a security system that we did not need. He then took our panel (that matched another panel in our home) without our consent. I have spent hours on the phone with ADT to no avail...the usual corporate 7-14 days. I want my property back and I want this security system removed. What do you do when the people who are meant to keep you safe are the ones that dupe you? Please ADT, do not send an email or 800 number to respond to. Just take care of this. Con artists. The worst of the worst. One of the most sleazy customer support and business models I have ever encountered. And after going through their whole process and seeing the attitude of their agents, I conclude it's part of their business model. After 6 years of being a customer, we needed to cancel. After being on the phone with an agent who tried to convince us to stay by dropping the price by $10 a month, down to 19.99, we still said PLEASE CANCEL. This was before the end of the month. She confirmed there would be NO CHARGES the following month and that it would be cancelled. February comes and we see a charge. I call them on the phone to get an explanation, and they claim this is a "30 day notice charge." I said that's not what I was told. The contract was already paid off. He said there's nothing they can do about it. This is the guy who is the BILLING SUPERVISOR. The billing supervisor MOCKED me, telling me he's paid by the hour and can waste all day talking to me! Then he hung up on me! I then called back and connected to the cancellation department, where another woman put me on hold, hung up on me, called me back, and argued with me for another 30 minutes! An hour in total arguing with me instead of solving an issue. I must say, if they were half as committed to customer service as they are in trying to convince you not to cancel they my actually be a good company. Appalling corporate service. Have had ADT monitoring and patrol for 44 years! During that time, I've had the physical equipment by ACS changed at least three times. All that was required was for my installer to call ADT, get a code and program it into the new equipment. Last week, I got the latest ACS panel and keypad installed, called ADT for the code, was REFUSED and told I had to buy equipment from ADT! After hours and days on phone hold, then speaking with a number of ADT employees, I was unable to get the necessary code. I told them to cancel my account and was informed that I would have to pay for an additional month of service, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD REFUSED SERVICE. What a bunch of bozos! read more

They get you into contracts - even when the services don't work - we stopped service and they charge - we transferred to another place to see if it would work there - it did - and they said the equipment would be moved and installed for free - and again we had to call them - we have spent hours on the phone. The time has come to share disturbing information about ADT Security Services. We had ADT for about 18 years and were generally pleased -- despite a fairly high monthly fee for monitoring. Then the high monthly fee became even higher -- not because they raised the rates, but because if something went wrong, you either had to fix it yourself or pay for a service call. Fortunately, for quite a while, the problems were minor (e.g., change a battery) or could be fixed remotely (via a call, often lengthy, with Customer Service). But then my exterior security cameras (that were installed long after my initial contract with ADT) stopped working and ADT could not resolve the problem remotely. After I refused to climb a ladder to help them identify the problem (I was asked to do this while live-streaming what I was doing), I was able to convince them to send a representative to my home at no charge. The individual came out, explained that the cameras were an earlier version that was now outdated and that, in fact, my entire system needed to be upgraded. He was very clear that the cost of all these upgrades would be my responsibility. After additional calls to Customer Service, when it became clear that no one was interested in providing actual customer service, I made the decision to leave ADT. I was advised that while 30 days notice was optimal, they did not inform me that it was mandatory. Thus after I had removed all ADT equipment (I was told to junk it) and a new system was installed, I received an automatic charge on the credit card used for my ADT billing for services (one could truly question what service that was) for the balance of 30 days. While this was unexpected, the final injustice was my first follow-up call requesting this be reversed that understood my situation and assured me, in writing, that a refund would be issued. When it didn't come, I was informed (only when I called to inquire) that Accounts Payable declined this. I then spoke with an individual in Billing who was very upset to hear this and, again, assured me tht he had the authority to handle this. Again, nothing happened. At this point, not because the amount was large but because I was angry at how an 18 year customer had been and was being treated, I emailed ADT's CEO (Jim DeVries). And, unsurprisingly, he ignored my message. This made me realize that the actions of both Billing and Customer Service were not isolated -- but clearly a business model set forth from the top. Botton line: If you are considering a security system, do not consider ADT. You will be promised the son and the moon -- but will receive very little. If you have an ADT system, look around -- there are other companies willing and able to provide better service at a better price. read more

The install was never completed, some sensor didn't activate. Tried their over the phone tech but still the various sensor don't work. Since I work next store to ADT in Chatsworth, I came to them but was not allowed past the front door and told to call the 1-800 number (lousy customer service). When I initially contacted ADT and informed them the problem, I was told it would cost me $170 plus dollars for a technician to come out. My home was broken into one week prior to putting in a pro installation for the ADT plus system. The same night that I armed it for the first time it went off. It turned out to be a false alarm after sending my brother to check it out. I had their tech out and since then had three techs come out and they all said this is a new system of which they still do not understand how it works. I still have a glitch in the system of which they never called back to fix. I called the second day of installation to cancel the monitoring for 1 year. They still charged me even after putting into a Test Mode for 30 days, so the alarm would not be monitored. I have called back for example today and ended up on hold for three different times just to transfer me to the wrong department. I would not recommend this system or ADT to any one. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I still have to call them and get my monthly refund but it keeps sending me to the wrong billing department. read more

What a cluster fuck. When you want the service they're all over you. But when you need to cancel your service good luck getting through. Wait times varies from 50 to 79 minutes and kept cutting me off. It took me over a month to finally cancel my service and even then the employee I was speaking with kept trying to bribe me to stay. Then several questions why and what I intended to do about my security needs. I kept telling them just close my account. So after 58 minutes on hold then 15 minutes trying to cancel I had to hang up cause I was at a doctor appt. We'll see if she actually closed my account. Do yourself a favor. Try Ring or SimplySafe. Very poor customer service. My ADT Pulse stopped working when I got a new internet gateway. To date I have spent about 8 hours on ADT video service calls, calls to my internet provider, and one in home visit. Moreover, I received different information from the 800 number and the tech about the service charge and had to spend time resolving that issue too. I scheduled another service call and received several emails indicating a different time than scheduled. When I called in, I was told that their automated system wasn't working correctly. Today while waiting for the service call, I received four messages over four hours letting me know that the technician was arriving (but they didn't). Evidently this was an a problem with their automated system again. Just now another tech finally arrived. He replaced the ADT gateway. The problem was fixed in 30 minutes. This leaves me wondering why I was asked to spend all that time and effort when there was such as easy fix. Suggestions to ADT: Use your video tech sessions more wisely. Stay away!! I signed up with them and paid for their top-end service and warranty. Everything appeared to be fine until it came time when there were issues with the system. To make the long story short, it was better in the beginning, and then turned into long holds with usually no satisfactory results. They refused to send a rep to my house after the battery died twice in a 9-month period. The first time they made me pay for the battery and do everything myself. Second time, they made me, again, open up the system and follow their instructions. The following day the system died completely. I called and asked them to send a rep to my house and they refused. They wanted to go thru the same process and I was late for work. I decided to cancel with them as they are too expensive anyways and their service is not good, not to mention they don't honor their warranty. The cancel process is next to impossible as they asked me to hold 57 minutes! I first thought they are saying 7 minutes until I realized it's 57 minutes. And the call cancels after a long wait. They do not provide a call back service when you want to cancel the service. This cancel handling process was the reason I decided to write this review and notify others. I am still in the process of trying to cancel their service and I am yet to find out what awaits me. I, however, somehow have hunch, it wont be a pleasant experience! There is one significant reason why my review is so different than so many reviews on Yelp. I had a super star representative, Juan Calderon. Juan is very customer focused, very experienced, very knowledgeable and very thorough. He is so customer friendly and responds quickly to our calls.He stopped by during the install and two days later to follow up. I talked to other ADT reps and before I met Juan I was not going to hire ADT. Juan has a busy schedule yet is very patient in answering question. ADT has a reputation for their call center but the most important factor in deciding to hire them is finding that "ADT Partner" to work with and that is why I highly recommend Juan (JCalderon@adt.com). read more

Avoid ADT - they do NOT provide "Security" in the slightest. I had hard-wired entry points in my new home from the previous owner. I was told they would be integrated. Instead they were cut and turned into WiFi like all other ADT junk. Numerous monitoring fails. Rude customer support. Technicians who fail to file proper detailed tickets. It has only been 29 days since the install. After all the problems I requested their "Six Month Guaranteed" money back, and I am being given a massive runaround, being told that 3 technicians need to come to the property on 3 occasions before a refund can be given, despite this policy being unwritten (not on their website and not in the contract). I have no problem taking them to small claims court if they do not stop this runaround (btw, small-claims invalidates nasty "arbitration" clauses, fyi - you can always pursue small-claims). Just a complete nightmare, and a Not-Security system that stops working if their is a power outage as the WiFi shuts down and the whole house is then offline. Utter failure. read more

I have a signed contract with ADT that specifies a home visit of $25.00 Recently I was given incorrect information when calling in the national phone number for tech support which led to a tech coming to my home and a $59.00 charge. The incorrect information was due to the lack of knowledge of the person I spoke with and their assessment that I needed a new battery. The tech who came to my homesaid I did not need a new battery and there was no reference to needing a new battery on the screen. I receive a $59.00 debit on my credit card statement and subsequently called ADT. After 45 minutes on the phone I was granted redund BUT I was told this wasA 1 TIME COURTESY REFUND. Really! This is the worst company ever. I was client for over 9 years. Where I live there is no cell reception. They told me it's going to be fine. Apparently if there is no cell service there is no connection between my system and ADT. It means we had false hope that we're connected and protected. 7 months ago I found out there is no service. They send technicians who confirmed there is no connection. Then I asked them to upgrade the system which will work here. This is going through hell with their phone system. Each time I called them there was 40-60 minutes hold, then someone pics up the phone and clueless what I'm talking about. Within last 7 months I talk to every department they have, every supervisor. I wished there was a zero star as one of the rating choices because that would have been more suitable. They are unreasonable and extremely poor in service. I asked them to relocate my cameras and specifically mentioned that my warranty period was expired two weeks ago. They indicated that there will be $25 charge for the service. The technician shows up and does the job and two hours later I get an e-mail with a bill for $538.20(!!!). I call and complaint, they say we give you 50% off. This is so stupid and unacceptable. ADT monitoring is good in calling the police or fire in an emergency. However, their Customer Service is awful, horrible, terrible!!! If you want to waste 2-3 hours on hold and being transferred repeatedly then go with ADT. Otherwise avoid them at all costs!!!!! Claim everyone in your neighborhood uses them when no one has their signs on their lawns. Tell you that you need home security, fire protection, health monitoring, etc. even though you all ready have something in place. When you point it out to them, they tell you that your system is inferior. Typical pushy sales tactics from supposed non-salesmen who later tell you they are independent contractors trying to make a quota. I couldn't open the door for the last salesman and he was upset because I chose to talk with him thru the window. Claims he couldn't hear me and that's why he wears glasses? OMG are you stupid? Glasses are for your eyes, in case you didn't learn that in school. I have 2 kids, a dog and was in the middle of dinner so I don't want to open the door. They were very responsive when they wanted to sell me a system. Gave me a deal in beginning. A year later I had a problem they had to come back three times. Replaced power supply and battery still had a problem. I told the 3 rd technician the parts needed he told me that he is the technician and I don't know what I am talking about. I have been in HVAC industries for 30 years I know about electricitronics . I basically fixated it myself. When I divided to get rid of there service they said that they will look the panel and I will not be able to use it I paid over a thousand dollars for it that is my system. Currently on hold for over 30 minutes. Equipment malfunction (garage Pulse remote malfunction!) AGAIN. Waited 40 minutes on Friday, spoke to "customer service" representative. After exhausting all possible resets, reboots, unplugs, deletion/reinstall of Pulse app and about 10 other items I still had a "malfunction" message. She put me on a priority service (5 days later!) and assured me several times that it would be an in person technician. I asked 3 times because this scenario was exactly the same happened in June. Wrong Kimberly. No one showed & when I called they said I was set up for a virtual technical support technician. WTF. The equipment is malfunctioning and needs to be REPLACED. I've been a customer for 22 years and now on hold. I strongly RECOMMEND avoiding ADT service. They do not provide service at all. BTW I had a similar experience in June. I feel sorry for their employees; ADT clearly cares more about cutting corners & profits FAR MORE than customer service or protection ( or exposing their employees to extremely orated customers.) Total shysters, have had then for several years, renewed beginning of this year, new system, cameras etc. Keep having the same communication problems between the camera and base unit. They want paid to come out and fix the same thing multiple times. Calling customer service is a long process on hold forever and when you finally get thru you get some know nothing drone who cant do anything to assist except repeat her script. Would not shock me if the call center is in a prison somewhere, absolute crap for what you pay. I had to upgrade my system because I canceled my landline only to find out how bad ADT/Protection One is. I had scheduled a block of time between 12-4 pm on 6/10/21 which was confirmed 2 days prior. Unfortunately, the late afternoon before the date, I had an email rescheduling it for 8-12 am without my confirmation. No phone call just an email letting me know. The story gets even more annoying because on the day off, the technician did not show up at all and there was no phone call at all either. Until I called their customer service and that was how I found out that no one was going to show up at all. Apparently, installers comes from Chatsworth who I believe does not even communicate with anyone of this kind of update. Totally has no regard for people's time. This review is about the patrol service and customer service - I am so happy I have my alarm and monitoring with a small local company instead of ADT. I can't imagine depending on this level of customer service for something as important as safety. Trying to cancel patrol service. At one point they handled our neighborhood, but hours and service have diminished. And a competitor now has most the homes near me. The one and only 1 time I called for patrol assistance in the last 15 years I sat on hold forever. . . Thought I would log into my account to cancel- wrong - can't do it there - and there is no help section for cancellation. Thought I would try chat, but chat said I had to call for cancellation. So I called in and listened to "longer than normal hold time" recordings that kept suggesting I try chat. Finally reached an agent, who said cancellation for patrol must be done by fax or email - but the fax machine is broken. . . .. I asked to have the required information forwarded to me via email to avoid confusion on the spelling, etc. It didn't happen. . . . So requested a 2nd time. They sent the information again - as a fuzzy jpeg, so you cant click on the email, or even copy and paste the cancellation address. The jpeg also mentions the fax machine being broken...so obviously it's been a long time. . . No response a few hours later, so I logged in again to stop auto pay so I won't be billed for next month's service . . . but SURPRISE you need to call in to turn off autopay. Called in again and asked to have autopay credit card removed from the system. Hmm. . . system not responding and put on hold. . . Anyone surprised? Meanwhile I forwarded my email cancellation request to the "alwaysthere" email address that is mentioned in all the poor reviews - and their response was a customer can only cancel in writing with a signature - and to send a letter. Finally the agent (who was pleasant) says its worked. This agent also say I should have been able to cancel service by telephone if I had the correct department. I ask her to read the account notes, and see that I requested a supervisor, and was told none were available. She advised me that somebody would call me, and I told her - only via email to confirm cancellation no phone calls. Of course I get a phone call back from someone in the local office and the woman doesn't know why cancelling is so challenging - but can't say that its done - can only send an email to the same person I was directed to contact. . .- this is the same one who hasn't responded to me. Using caller ID I call back the local office a few hours later, She says my account was closed per my request, but still nobody has notified me. . . So glad not to be a customer anymore. read more
