I have just been on the phone since 1:30pm today, Saturday April 11th, 2015. I received a message from ADT 6 months ago, telling me my system needed to be upgraded from 2G to 3G. When I called I was told there was no problem and they would take care of it. Today my system said it was no longer in communication with ADT. When I called today, they couldn't be bothered to schedule a technician for any sooner than Tuesday afternoon. That leaves my home unprotected SATURDAY, SUNDAY, MONDAY, and TUESDAY! There is NO SUCH THING AS CUSTOMER SERVICE at ADT. If you need home security monitoring choose someone else! read more

Wish I could give 0 stars! Customer service is NON-EXISTANT with ADT. After being GUARANTEED that a service tech would be at my business between 8 and 3 to disconnect some sensors, no one showed. After being put on hold for 40 minutes we were told that they had been running late and now couldn't come because ADT "can't pay overtime." That phone call lasted 1 HOUR AND 17 MINUTES! They are THE WORST!!!! I also had an attempted break-in at my house and the police got there before the ADT guard who showed up 45 minutes after the alarm went off. AND I had been paying over $60/month extra for extra patrol! I had called and emailed corporate at least 6 times and still got NO RESPONSE!!! They are THE WORST!!! read more

If I can give 0 star I will. I have ADT alarm system for years and I was ok with it. Until I upgraded to this new ADT Pulse. It has been nothing but inconvenience and problems since day 1!! The sensors keep getting triggered for no reason, technicians have come, I've put my day, my life on hold many times so we can have this system working as it should. But no... Alarms have been triggered so many times for no reason. We got an alarm system to have peace of mind. Instead we are worried about leaving home because we don't know when the faulty system will trigger an alarm for no reason again, and the police will get dispatched because we're far away from home and it will be false alarm of course and we will have to pay 260+ to the LAPD!!! ADT pulse is faulty and problematic!!! Do not subscribe to this seemingly top of the line system, only it will be too late and you will realize you got yourself more problems instead of peace of mind and security. Read reviews below. I moved and adt was supposed to waive the cancellation fee for a legitimate reason. This was confirmed to me about a month ago, but I received a bill in the mail a wk ago again. I then called to confirm that this was incorrect, and was assured that these charges were removed. I just got a phone call from a collection agency. Of course today adt claims that the charges are removed. I am so frustrated by this entire situation and it seems nothing is being handled correctly. Absolutely awful service to another level . ADT shouldn't be in service. I canceled services after their stupid app wouldn't work on my iphone. After $600+ in installation & fees, it took over 2 months & 78 calls to their idiotic customer service & runaround about where my money was. Turns out that adt monitors service but they have a BS defender service that installs equipment. When they took my equipment - they simply ripped it off my walls!!! An ADT worker who was inside his vehicle parked, was simply asked " I'm sorry sir, do you happen to be leaving since your inside your car so I can park there? " got out of the car furiously with vicious attitude and vulgar language " what the F is your problem man, does it look like I'm leaving, stop trying to hassle and get the F out " This is highly unacceptable, to think someone who works at a security services, they would surly teach their workers to have the slightest bit of manners and better attitude when talking to people. This bait and switch scam starts with 2 year contract and then it automatically renews if you move without warning. Moving? expect to pay for all new equipment. Problem with equipment? Seriously this is the worst company for your alarm system. The employees don't know how to install anything. I had at least 8 issues in the first 3 months. Then I had a problem with the system which was completely their fault and they tried to charge me over $150 to come change a sensor. Their offer might sound good when you set up but you will get screwed when they try to charge you hundreds for "maintain" the alarm when it is their fault. read more

Today, I called ADT because I have ebilling and I am no longer receiving paper statements or even an email. The person I spoke with sounded like an unfriendly robot. She said she'd stop my ebilling and I would start getting paper statements. Ok, fine. Thank you. Two minutes later I get this auto. email : "Thank you! You have just added an account to your adt.com online billing portfolio." When I called ADT again to find out what that meant, I was told that it's a generic email because I had made a change on my account. Why send a generic email that does not address the change that was made and creat confusion with the customer? Their website is also very confusing. I have to log out of billpay to get back to my account. I really would like to have ebilling AND get my statements in the mail or in an email. Worst service in the world. No star is more urge! Did not respond to alarm when store broken into, they are so used to faulty alarm installations that result in false alarms. Local police don't take them seriously--why should you? Throw your money down a pit to waste it. That's better than ADT and safer for your valuables! read more

I have to call ADT to cancel service and I had to call to take it off auto-pay. 2 year contract is a joke designed for their benefit and of no benefit to purchaser as equipment is overpriced in the first place so "discount" on equipment is the lowest form of consideration. You're probably better off with Ring equipment or something similar for all the hassles ADT places. read more

Be extremely careful if you decided to sign up for ADT service. Ask questions. Check everything they promise. ADT representatives use shady business practices but even more importantly their service is useless. I think I was not smart enough to research before using them (was too busy). I am not too busy to write this review so people don't fall into the trap I did. I installed the system a few months ago and had an incident where alarm went by accident and police was dispatched but never arrived... I was a bit puzzled but didn't pay attention. Also ADT contacted me asking more details on how to get to my place and I gave them details. I have to say I live in Los Angeles not in jungle, they had my full address, and my address can be easily located by Google maps. I guess if it was a robbery or smth I could be dead with ADT security system. A few weeks later my mom was watching my daughter while I was out of town and alarm went off by accident again. My mom says they turned off alarm, went to bed, and slept for a few hours when Police has arrived, woke them up, checked premises and left. Basically, police arrived two hours after alarm went off! I think any amateur robber can still do everything he wants and safely disappear after ADT alarm goes off. It gets more interesting. A couple of weeks later I've received a letter from Police department stating I don't have a permit for an alarm and they are going to fine me for that. Of course I am all surprised so I call my alarm company - ADT. Don't get me wrong I understand consequences of the false alarm but now we're talking about illegal alarm installation. After an hour of waiting and trying to get to the right person I got to a voice mail so I left a message... I've never received call back though. I guess I am a patient guy because since it was on Friday I thought it's ok... So I called back Tuesday and finally got through to someone who got what the issue is. This person referred me to contract and told me that applying for permit is my responsibility and I should've read contract before signing... Wow that hurts! He referred to 3 pages of fine print by the way. So I've asked to talk to his supervisor, Joe, employee id 67612, and explain him situation. He said it was my problem and I should've read the contract. End of story. So now I am on my own dealing with LAPD fine and useless ADT service. Think twice before using ADT! read more

If there was a way to give this company 0 stars that would be a more accurate rating. In terms of quality of the security system I don't have too many complaints. The area that really did it for me was in customer service. I seldom take the time to write a negative review about a company but in the last 2 years that I have been an ADT customer I have had issue after issue with installation costs/ procedures, terms of contract and eventually with ending my contract. No one ever seems to check the notes of previous contact and every employee has a different rule that he/she has thrown out in the process of my trying to end the contract. If for whatever reason you choose to get an account with ADT, know that you are in for 3 years or will pay a high penalty for a move/cancellation even if you were verbally promised situations otherwise. Terrible customer service. I've been a customer for many years and for the last year I ran into so many problems with their online service. The main issue is that you are not able to enroll for automatic payment. Each time you enroll, you receive a confirmation and then the next you log in, you need to start over again. As a consequence, I keep received late payment notice. I emailed customer service and never once they returned my request to take care of this issue. read more

OMG! Run don't walk away from this company. The sales rep they sent out, Tom Gannon, was a complete idiot. I had to keep correcting him on his information. He screwed up all the paperwork not once, but twice. Double billed my 82 year old mother for her alarm system and we were still somehow sent to collections, even though we basically have been paying double the service. Horrible experience!!! Got an alarm system installed 2 days ago and canceled it today. The installer Carlos Escolero was so rude didn't even show me how to work the system or help me see up my secret password I had to call into customer service twice. The system display says battery missing and I was told that's because or takes 24-48hrs for the backup battery to fully charge. The system had been beeping nonstop for two days. I was on hold for over 40mins with 4 different people in order to speak to a supervisor how in the end said they couldn't help and transferred me to the cancelation department to tell me it could take up to a week for my service to cancel. Is someone going to come pick up this crappy equipment that won't shut up and I better get a full refund for days of service I didn't even use. read more

A representative from ADT came to my door "selling" their services. I declined stating that I already had a security company that I was happy with. She asked if she could put her sign in my yard so her supervisor could see it, which I declined. She then wanted to give me a coupon which I declined and she then went back to giving me the sign. I finally agreed to the coupon to get her to leave, which I tore up. She reqested again to put her sign up and when I refused, she requested her coupon back. I told her I tore it up and she requested it back. I gave it back to her and she proceeded to throw the torn pieces on my lawn and left. I make several attempts to contact ADT to no avail. One gentleman I spoke with said he would have no way of knowing which office sent their staff to my area. Do not trust ADT!!! I too, was promised a gift card for in the amount of the activation fee post installation and never received it. I was also promised a second keychain activator then was charged for it!!!! The system is also malfunctioning and the service reps thus far have been unable to help me. Do not go with this company. Avoid ADT at all costs. I signed for two year service. Moved to new apartment and asked for the service to be transferred. Was immediately sent a $641 bill even though I had not cancelled service. Spent total of four hours on the phone with them over three week period, mostly left on hold, trying to get the service transferred. Three times technicians came to the new place, did not bring equipment, or said they did not have time to install. Experienced a burglary. Neither their sales nor their tech support phone answering team can answer simple questions like: do I need a modem for your service. I called their customer service to change my plan, I, the wife pays for it with my own credit card although my husband signed the contract, they don't want to do any changes with me.....and then the customer service lady added a comment " the only thing that will change that is either death or divorce" ....was that really necessary???!!!! After being a loyal customer for six years i was provided the worst customer service by ADT representatives. Last year had an issue with my alarm pad, I called ADT technicians to walk me through some diagnostic checking As a result of the technicians instructions a distress alarm from my house triggered. Police came to my house and I was fine $300 for the call. I called ADT and was told to send in all the information and request a refund. After almost a year of waiting for my refund I was now told they decided not to refund my money. This is the kind of customer service one can expect from ADT. This company is crazy and will stalk you non-stop if you are a new homeowner. They must be really desperate for business. In the last month, we have gotten NON-STOP phone calls at ALL times of day, weekday and weekends (despite us telling them we already have a fantastic home security system that we have been with forever & nicely asking them to remove us from their call list). We get a TON of mail (waste). And today on a Saturday while trying to relax after a busy week, an ADT rep came to our front door without an appointment and was BANGING on our door, trying to sell services!! After I posted my review, a representative of ADT posted a comment and invited me to write to their Customer Advocate desk. I did get a prompt response from Mr. Andrew Beliso and he did take the steps to correct the problem, including the removal of the 30-day requirement. I think it speaks well of this company to have an effective ombusdman to resolve customer complaints. For that reason I have adjusted my rating to Satisfactory. I still can't give them the highest ratings because of the initial poor handling of the cancellation process by the regular staff. read more

Horrible service from the company in general. Very expensive if you need to replace a stolen remote and when the service rep arrives there is an additional charge, plus he didn't speak English. The contacts started failing after 2 1/2 years. I called to cancel service and there is a 30 day wait to cancel!!! Of course I have to pay for that month. When I complained, the customer service person got belligerent. Going with ADT is a decision I regret and an expensive one at that. read more

Disappointing. Install guys were half OK, and it's gone downhill from there. One keypad was mis-programmed by them, so the alarm triggered when we exited. Police called. After an hour on the phone we (we're told we were) get scheduled for a tech to come out and correct their mistake. Didn't show up. More calls. A few days later a tech shows up an hour and a half after our business hours. Great. I call today to try to talk with someone, and all I get is "so you want to reschedule?". Comforting. I'd like to do more than reschedule, but I won't go there. And speaking of going someplace, for an alarm system I'd say you go someplace else. HOW CAN THEY STILL BE IN BUSINESS?? This experience with ADT has been beyond my imagination. Just when I think this has got to be the end of the insanity, it continues. Then gets worse. It is now 5 weeks and countless hours on the phone, 6 days of scheduled appointments with 5 hour windows and dont show up, say they came when thats not possible since I am here waiting, dont bring equipment, the scheduled tech hurt himself, the list is endless! I try not to complain or write negative posts, but ADT deserves this. If you are looking for a home security system, never ever, ever, ever, ever go with ADT. They install faulty systems, provide horrendous, terrible, awful customer service, cannot fulfill their end of an agreement and do not provide a refund or reimbursement for the period of time (in my case months) that their equipment is down. Do your research before hiring a security system company. The mental stress and time I've spent on the phone with inept reps or waiting for incompetent service techs, not to mention the huge chunk of change they charged to break up, was not at all worth it. Good luck trying to cancel your service. I am currently not under contract and pay month to month. Cancelling should be easy, right? Wrong. I politely listened to the first set of canned reasons why I shouldn't cancel my ADT services (and they were mostly terrible reasons). When I referenced my two main beefs (their terrible Yelp reviews and that I wanted to upgrade to Pulse WITHOUT entering a 2-year contract), he didn't address my beefs and instead gave some corny speech about ADT being the largest security company in the country for a reason. :| Anyway, at some point I explained that I was in a hurry and had to wrap this up before my lunch break was over. But he continued to talk over me and kept ignoring my request to cancel. Well, my lunch break came and went and I am still an ADT customer... for another day. If it was possible to give ADT zero stars, I would. They are the most inept company, with incredibly poor service that I can't believe they are still in existence. From their online support to their maintenance/service personnel no-one want to take any responsibility or is empowered to do so. This is worse than United Airlines! The cost of my original - and very extensive alarm in '12 was $30K+. To this day (6/4/17), it has continued to have problems. No-one wants to take responsibility and everyone keeps passing the buck. Danger. Extremely sub-par company. They are in fact, selling a false sense of security. I hired them to install an extensive and expensive system. Within one day, my system began arming and disarming itself on its own. When I called customer service, They were rude, and said a faulty key fob way likely responsible and that, "It happens". On day two, they sent a third party tech who immediately demanded a credit card payment of $300 before he could begin diagnosing the problem. After calling ADT corporate, he was instructed to commence as long as I agreed to be billed for services rendered. Bottom line: DON'T DO IT. ADT DOES NOT CARE. read more

DON'T TRUST THE MOVE POLICY!!! You would think it is just as easy as 1-2-3...but now 6 months later ADT has "dropped the ball". I am a small business owner that works from home, and love some all american home monitoring peace of mind. As a Consumer Reports junkie, I sure did my shopping around and never really liked the 2 year contracts that seem to come standard with most systems. But there it was dangling right in my mailbox, a flyer that had the answers to all my problems, a moving rebate. I would have never signed on the dotted line if it weren't for reassurance from the salesman that the moving rebate was my answer to my planned relocation. One month before the move, I make the call and met a new salesman at my new residence in the same area some 4 miles away. You would think we would be pow-powing about where to put the still shiny equipment in the new place, but I am bombarded with upsells and new two year contracts (I needed a new 2 year contract so that he could beg his managers to keep me for another two years and force me to buy new equipment for I would be violating my contract by moving and claiming the moving rebate as written in my contract). I insisted that even though my new place was larger, I wanted to just keep the same equipment and just add on sensors as needed. The salesman began giving me financial advice, telling me that if I didn't give ADT my social security number I could most likely cancel my credit card and jump ship with my now useless pile of $600 security equipment. I may be rounding up, but that is still a big financial win for ADT. I remain persistent/resistant/give-me-my-rebate. The salesman tells me he will have to check with his manager whether or not he could redeem the rebate in my contract. Since then the salesman can never seem to get a hold of his manager, or figure out what to do with me. Each time I called, he said his manager was sick, out of town (I begin to wonder if he is working for Waldo). The day before I hand my keys in to my old residence I call again to see what they are going to do with my equipment, the salesman tells me to take it down myself. Really? What is the point of having a rebate if I never get to use it? So I take it down...three months go by and I call only to play phone tag with the regional, then local office trying to reach someone who can help me. Everyone person I talk to knows about the rebate, wants to hand me money over the phone, but the salesman that I got lampooned by keeps drawing blanks (keep in mind I got the wireless system that is so easy to set up, most of it is just hot glue gunned to the walls and door frames). And I don't want money as much as the system installed at this point. After I call in to complain they have the same guy call me back! I can't believe it! The first words out of his mouth are, "Hey Matt, I guess I dropped the ball here we need to go back to square one..." I hang up. No way did they just have the guy who has cost me now $150 in monthly fees (which he can't seem to figure out how to refund), and $600 in equipment chilling in storage! So far only upsells, no rebate. He calls again the next day...I say,"Look salesman, there is no ball, there is no square one, I am done...I have had enough." I then go on to tell him that the next person I talk to should be his manager, *click*. Three more months go by. Now we are just playing chicken...by the contract if I fail to pay, they can void my contract and make me pay up in god knows how many fees. But I don't fit into any of their reasons for dropping, not even, "it is too expensive to keep your equipment up" because my stuff is brand new and wasn't faulty. Here I am, charged through the wazoo, making payments, getting no service and ironic letters in the mail telling me my equipment isn't sending a signal. So I call in and demand to speak to a manager, and I get his voice mail...I name names, and let him know I am not happy. So here I am, 6 months later with $300 in service charges, $600 dollars of equipment in storage, and a "Moving Rebate" that I can't seem to claim. Sad day for a very unhappy ADT customer :/ read more
