When things are fine ADT is fine. However, for the past month we have had trouble with their service department: long wait times, unable to reach a manager, a technician appointment that never happened x 2, tech support that clearly have little idea how to resolve my problem. Here we are a year later. Our contract expires on 12/5. So I am told to call and cancel on 12/5. But it will take 30 days to cancel so they will charge me for 1 month when I am not even here. I tried to cancel today but that will cost $22 fee plus then the 30 days for the 12/5 charges. Read your. Contract. Say goodbye to a paying customer. read more

If we could give this company ZERO stars, we would. The cameras NEVER work. We are trying to get out of their ridiculous contract. Why should we pay for safety/security when there IS NONE! Trying to contact the office in my city is a JOKE. I have left several messages for the service manager. No call backs. This "system" was installed on 7/15/2020. A change was made to the contract erroneously by a lady named Emily. Our file with them is HUGE! Service Techs came out to "FIX" the system and change it to a command system instead of the pulse system. ADT sent over a contract that we signed because they stated that is what they were doing to "FIX" the system problems. The tech that came out was new at the time and spent 9 hours!! YES 9! He took out the "OLD" system only to call the service manager at the time for him to say put in the NEW one. WELL! The new system WAS NOT COMPATIBLE! The tech had to take EVERYTHING out and REINSTALL the OLD system. Needless to say, the whole company is a JOKE! Noone knows what or how to do ANYTHING correctly. Phone calls DO NOTHING! Don't waste your money! Sold home after having system for 1 year. Termination will cost $1100. No faith in outdoor cameras. They work when they want to. Haven't been able to get a new password for my account either. Never had issues in Texas, just Florida. Go with a local supplier for a more personal experience. ADT uses scare tactics to sell and increases charges every few months. They expect customers to call them if they don't want the rate increases and then (and only then) they reduce rates. Only do business with ADT if you are comfortable calling every time you see a rate increase to challenge them on it. Don't expect this company to keep rates low. It happens slowly over time. I just cancelled after having the service for 10 years. I was paying $72 for their base service, with no app, cameras or automation. At the start, I was paying $42. Again these increases did not coincide with an increase in services. Be aware of these tactics if you choose ADT. I recommend considering Abode, Ring, or SimpliSafe instead for low rates that stay low. read more

I canceled our ADT due to increasing our bill with no warning. We called for a 30 day cancelation. We were told there was nothing they could do to lower the cost, guess what we had another charge after we canceled!!!!! I am beyond disappointed. A couple of our door alarms are not working. Service fee is: $130 first 15 minutes $10 service call $30 per next 15 minutes. Plus, new equipment if it is not working. I didn't know they had attorneys working on their staff. They do have a ripoff mentality at this place. read more

I have used ADT in Gainesville on three different occasions to arm existing alarm systems and update older systems in different residences for my college student. We have been very pleased with the technicians and the service. ADT allows contract and credit to be transfered if you move in the area. This added layer of security makes a parent sleep better with kids away at college. read more

If you are a commercial business BEWARE! As an owner I signed up and then they sent a salesman in and allowed the on shift manager to change the contract ( i think they were given a restaurant gift card to upgrade the account). ADT agreed that it was done incorrectly and they redid the original contract and supposedly everything was taken care of. I paid the past due amount based on the original contract as i was told and now i have a collections company contacting me. Have been for the last week trying to get a hold of someone in the Gainesville office... lets just say that is impossible. Also if you try calling the number you get forwarded to a call center at 9:45 am... they say the number i am dialing is correct but the office number is being forwarded. Asked if they know when someone will be there they said they probably don't open til later, 10 am. Then I asked if they were sure they said no. I asked if they knew the hours of operation they said no. Horrible customer service. I finally asked to be connected to corporate offices and they acknowledged that i don't have an outstanding balance and in 24 hours they will get back to me. Also they don't know who the "Attorney" is that wrote the collections letter. Now, I have wasted over 5 hours of my week for an issue not my fault and it still not done. read more

ADT (the national firm) is just AWFUL. We moved into a renovated house and bought an alarm system + monitoring from them. I think the system cost $600+ ?? and monthly monitoring about $80. That was a year ago this month (Mar '15). The system worked fine, then we started getting these "system battery" msgs. Since the annual home show was in a couple of days, I decided I'd talk with a local rep there, since that's where we first met ADT last year. I spoke to the rep, who took my name and # and said he would call the next day (Monday). No Call. I called him, and he promised to dispatch a technician as soon as possible. Just when I was starting to feel the love, a week goes by with no technician and no call. Since we didn't receive an OWNER'S MANUAL at installation, I go to the ADT website for more info. The MyADT site is supposed to have info about our system and account, but our system was listed as UNKNOWN. Hmmmmm. I call ADT and the guy tells me I need this big, square battery that's available on their website. So I'm about to order that when I wonder, where does that big hummer go? I call them back, and a nice gal says "it goes in the panel above the system interface" and then she goes off to "check something" ... 22 minutes later with the checking apparently still going on, I hang up and go to find the panel. Looking, looking, looking ..... no panel. You know what happens next: I call ADT back and another somewhat less nice gal says that I need the skinny battery that goes in the wall unit, which makes more sense to me since at least there is a wall unit an it is rather skinny. She says I can order it on the ADT site. Turns out it's only sold by third party retailers, so I'm thinking "I can get it at the local battery store," which I could for SEVENTY DOLLARS. Remember, this rechargeable battery is about a year in service and I have to pay $70 for a replacement? I am more surprised than pleased. So.......I call ADT once more, and a gal tells me the system NEEDS the battery and I'll HAVE to buy one. I explain to her that it's a year old, it costs $70 and that's a lot for just a yea.... and SHE HANGS UP ON ME! I'm somewhat puzzled at her concept of customer service. As any five year old knows, I should have gone to AMAZON first, which I finally do and find the battery for about $30 and "free" shipping (don't get me started on that subject.....). So we have about a year left on our contract with ADT, after which we'll hire a local company with a better pricing and MUCH BETTER SERVICE. Bottom line - from our experience, steer clear of ADT. Oh, did I tell you that when you call the local store phone number you get the national call center. The folks there are very nice except for the ones who give you the wrong information, tell you stuff that's not true, are forever "checking something." or just hang up on you. I had a system installed by an ADT authorized dealer. What I have since learned is that ADT allows just about anybody to pay them a fee and use the ADT logo to advertise. The 2 installers that came out were absolutely horrible. The older one was a rude chain smoking handyman that must have taken a weekend course on alarm installation. His helper was a teenager that had just been released from prison for selling cocaine...I am not exaggerating! Frankly, the teenager was the better of the 2...at least he was polite. The alarm never worked properly despite numerous repair visits. I finally had to demand a refund and start over with a real ADT dealer, not an authorized dealer. Live and learn. In late October 2017 we engaged another security company, so when ADT's renewal bill arrived on 11 November it was returned immediately with a note stating that their service was no longer needed. On 28 November an automated phone message from ADT stated that the security system had failed its test. We pressed 3 to talk to a person. He was rude beyond belief. We were passed to an equally snotty office manager who stated that my note was insufficient and we would be reported to the credit bureau for non payment. For background, we cancelled because we had lost confidence that the ADT system actually was being monitored. No one and no computer ever had responded to a false alarm during a period of 8 years with ADT. This past summer when the battery failed, we phoned ADT to ask for service and were treated like a fools. read more

Not trustworthy....caution before you sign anything with "Johnnny" or ADT Gainesville. I met with Johnny who sold me a system for my business last week, which I am now having removed from my business since ADT simply has zero customer service. Johnny and I negotiated a Non Renewal after two years and a price for equipment. After signing the deal, we made changes to the equipment based on my needs for cameras etc, but Johnny never changed the contract as promised. Shame on me for trusting such a big name and company right? I called Johnny numerous times and he kept telling me he would get the contract changed which he never did. I called him time and again and he stated he was busy or traveling. I finally called ADT customer service and they would not do anything nor would they allow me to talk to a "Manager" They are trained to tell you that they can resolve situations, however, their not allowed to make changes to anything to please the customer. I spent almost 2k installing the system and asked for a Non-renew after two years. The answer was "I would like to help you but I can't do anything". I thought you were here to resolve my simple agreement with Johnny? Long story short, no return calls, no customer service and you are not allowed to talk to whoever is behind the curtain. Look at the consumer reviews on line for ADT as a company. They are flooded with the sames complaints. They cannot be trusted. I continue to call and write. What a shame... read more

We tried to get ADT installed in our new house and they never showed up to our installation appointment, for which I paid 100$ to reserve a day for. I called 3 times, and was contacted once saying they were 30min away. I wasted an entire day off work waiting for them and they never showed up! We asked for our refund and they said we wouldn't get it for 7-10 business days. For it being the most expensive security company, it was terrible consumer service and lack of professionalism! High pressure call center to get you to schedule the "evaluation" followed by a bait and switch with $500 more than they told us over the phone. When the installation was almost complete they decided to tell us this. Also, told us they would "hold" our card number to schedule the appointment, but actually changed our it. The technician that came to my house to install the equipment from Gainesville was very good, however, the company itself is terrible. I moved to Gainesville from Miami in February. The Miami ADT company themselves came and pulled down my equipment and had me fill out paperwork finalizing my move to Gainesville. However, they continued to charge me for services I was not receiving. I have been calling ADT and Protect your home services for 3 months now and as I am on autopay, I have been charged multiple times each month. I have called over 20 times and spoken with various representatives to straighten out the issue with no results. I finally called my bank and had them stop automatic withdrawals from ADT, as ADT themselves were apparently unable to stop withdrawing the funds even after they said they corrected the issues several times. I called ADT last month ad asked for paper bills until they had corrected the auto debit issue and was told that would be no issue. I have not received any paper bills, ADT continues to call for my payment this month, and said they will be turning ME into collections even though they owe me over $200 dollars for erroneous charges. Even more concerning, the ADT company from Miami called last week to see if they could assist me with my move.....I moved in February. I have wasted so much time and energy speaking to people with absolutely no customer service skills and apparently little understanding of how to work with billing when a person moves. I am filing a complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) today and recommend never using this company. read more
