DO NOT USE ADT!!! It's a complete rip-off! My brother has dementia. Somehow he was sold a 2 year contract for a security system that does not work. When I attempted to cancel the contract, the cancellation fee was equal to the amount remaining on the full contract - over $500!!! To make matters worse, ADT had automatic withdrawal from my brother's account to the tune of $50.03 per month. When I called ADT to stop automatic withdrawals, I was told I could only stop the service portion of the payment, not the equipment portion. I authorized that. The next month, both withdrawals were made on my brother's account. I have been trying to call them to find out why the automatic withdrawal for the service fee is continuing but my calls go to voice mail and no one calls me back. read more

They installed a whole house smoke alarm that has never gone off even when the self installed smoke alarms in further rooms have been triggered by smoke in the house. They sold us a service where if alarm gets triggered they will send someone to check on the house and they have not one time done that. Instead they will send an email to let you know that an alarm is triggered. I don't assume an email would help in a situation of someone breaking into my home. If you are willing to pay monthly for sensors that fall down randomly triggering alarms and for essentially just an email service of alarms being triggered and a system that makes noise then they are a great. By far the worst experience ever... customer service Mike wouldn't cancel my account after 3 year contract... he kept putting me onto hold and coming back with a lower monthly rate, over and over and over and over and over... he would pretend to be canceling then come back with another rate!!! When you call to let them know the service doesn't work. Nothing happens. When you call to cancel because the service hasn't worked, you'd expect a refund. With these crooks it's the opposite....they send a bill and then just go into your account and take your money. When you post a negative review, your phone blows up with repeated calls. I've been a 5 year customer and would never use this company again. I've been paying for a door camera for 5 years that has never worked. The installer put in a google camera but said they would soon replace with a better ADT camera but they never did. Trying to call ADT is a nightmare -very long wait times and you are frequently cut off with no return calls. We HAD an account with ADT (never again) for door and window sensors AND doorbell cameras. For over a year the doorbell cameras did not work properly and eventually not at all. It took 3 technicians to tell us that. The last technician told us that the voltage at our home was too low for any cameras that ADT owned to work at our home. (Yeah, it actually took 3 of them). So after a year and a few months we canceled our service and that is when they billed us for breach of contract. They took no responsibility for billing us monthly for ineffective camera service. I have been an ADT customer for over 20 years at my residence and over 7 years at our business. Customer service is the worst- they give you the run around for an hour on the phone - put you on hold and act like they are going to take care of the problem and then they say "oh the local office" will call you back in 24/48 hours AND then no call back? My wife and i built a new home and ADT "threw in" their version of a Ring camera. It worked fine for the first year or so but lately it has been complete GARBAGE ! I reset the camera myself SEVERAL times. It would work a day or so then go offline. Then i "deleted" the doorbell and "added" the doorbell to our network like the ADT technicians do. Same thing, ie worked for a day then went offline. Finally we called ADT and they sent out a technician. What did he say ? "This doorbell is an older model and to be honest, JUST GET A RING DOORBELL if it keeps giving you problems. That's what most our our customers have been doing" You heard right - the ADT technician said GET A RING DOORBELL ! We are under contract with ADT, but once that runs out we will be looking at OTHER home security options...... read more

They LIED when I "purchased" the equipment 2 two years ago when they said I could get transfer "my equipment" free of charge when I move. Well I had to move and they said no we do not do that. You have to purchase a new package and equipment and BTW the equipment is leased. I said why can't I take the window sensors, etc. to my condo and they said no, they will not work there if you change your address. So, goodbye LYING ADT forever. I have had (3) separate ADT Doorbell cameras replaced over the past two weeks. None of the replacement doorbell cameras have functioned for more than 48 hours after they were installed. I had an event two weeks ago where a group of individuals targeted and trespassed onto my property. My ADT doorbell failed to capture the event. The police were notified and responded to my residence twice. Unfortunately I was unable to provide video evidence of the incident due to the malfunctioning ADT doorbell camera. I have been informed that my original "new" doorbell camera has been replaced by a "refurbished" doorbell camera on all of my subsequent service visits. This fact was not disclosed to me prior to any of my replacement doorbell installations to date. I only discovered this fact after I inquired about the cosmetic condition of the doorbell which had obvious visual signs of wear. I was only then informed that ADT does not replace warranty items with "new" equipment. I feel that this ADT practice is deceptive, and dishonest! I'm requesting, and expecting to receive a "new" replacement ADT doorbell based on the fact that the original "new" ADT doorbell was only a few weeks old, and has been replaced on (3) separate occasions and is currently not recording video clips; no other remedy will suffice. I'm also requesting a full refund for (2) of the ADT dome cameras; I will return (2) of the ADT dome cameras upon receiving a full refund, not account credit. I have also experienced two of the four ADT dome cameras failing over the past few weeks after my initial ADT security camera install. I will be supplementing my current ADT security camera system with my recently purchased Arlo security camera system for better reliability and video security. Once again ADT has successfully found a way to leave me completely dissatisfied as a customer, as well as creating the feeling that my residence is not completely secure and protected from a video camera and doorbell camera prospective... My father-in-law has had a medical alert button since October of 2016. He paid annually for two medical alert buttons for he and his wife. The medical alert pendants continuously give false alarms resulting in many unnecessary telephone calls to those on the call list. If no one was available, the local ambulance company sent over a vehicle with two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) unnecessarily MANY times. After a while the ambulance companies started to charge for the false alarms that were not covered by Medicare or the supplemental insurance. The pendants were supposed to detect a fall while the person was wearing it. This NEVER happened in spite of several occurrences of falls. The pendants were ALWAYS running low on battery power. ADT was CONSTANTLY sending replacement pendants. Many which were dead on arrival. The final straw that broke the camel's back is when the account was closed and there was a credit of $69.65 credit on the account. The credit card on the account was in the process of being closed. The credit, $69.65, was instructed to be sent by check to the home address. The ADT agent recorded this information and sent an e-mail to confirm it. Instead of processing the credit as requested and as agreed upon ADT put the credit on the closed credit card. In spite of NUMEROUS telephone calls to ADT customer service personnel and to their STUPIDvisors, ADT declared that it was the customer's responsibility to obtain the credit from the CLOSED credit card. Since They've been calling for months several times a week nagging me like a telemarketer to upgrade my system I finally made an appointment and they gave me a four hour window and they never showed up and I called and gave me excuses that they're just running behind and had no idea what time they would show up! read more

I will not be using this company again in the future. I have had ADT the past 9 years and have now been dissappointed by them for the last time. I paid them to put window sensors in every room of the house including the 5 sensors in my master bedroom ($300). The 5 sensors continuously failed, resulting in a technician coming to my home 4 times over the last year. Each time the failing sensors were replaced and the technician went along their way. The final visit (after taking 4 days off work for their convenience), the technician told me that it would be best just to remove those sensors from the monitoring service and to contact billing for a credit. When I called billing, I was pretty much told it was my loss and they would be glad let me take another day off work for them to replace the sensor a 5th time and hopefully that would correct the issue. I cancelled the service a year early, and of course have to pay the cancellation fee but it was well worth it compared to paying for the monthly service. I am shocked that the company could care less about customer satisfaction and care only about the profits from sales of cheap sensors. Before getting involved with their contracts and sub-par customer care gimmicks, I would highly recommend considering an alternate company. read more
