I just so happened to catch one of the chain parts stores just prior to closing; they verified my alternator was bad; and (thank the Lord) had one in stock. The young man at the counter suggested a decent hotel in town, and advised: "Now in the morning, you be at Altman's Tire when they open at 8; they'll take care of you." Sure enough, Altman's owner opened the doors just before 8 a.m. the next morning and had me on the road by 10 a.m. The price charged was cheaper than what I would have been charged back home and I've had zero issues with the work they performed. They were actually going to fix the truck right then even though they were closing soon. They stayed hours after closing and got the job done. My truck is running perfectly. We dropped the car off Sunday night, left the key in a secure lock box. No fuss no muss. The lady called before 8.30 the next day to tell us what needed doing and the price. It was so reasonable. Have them the okay to proceed with the work and it was all finished by 10.30! So efficient were they that we missed their call and didn't actually pick the car up until the next day! When my husband went to collect the car the owner came out and introduced himself and thanked us for our business. I went here on recommendation from my coworker to get my alternator replaced in June of last year…read more It wasn't cheap, but I appreciated that they were very kind about it and got it done somewhat timely (took an extra day than originally said but that's fine). Well, in late April, less than a year after getting this work done, my car starts having stalling problems. I took it into a different shop, and they determined that the alternator had completely gone bad and would need to be replaced AGAIN. I commute, but this was maybe 15,000-20,000 miles at most that was put on this alternator. After showing my mechanic my initial bill, he was floored at the price ($800-$900), saying it was double what was typical for that kind of work. I would NOT recommend taking your car here. I no longer live in the area so I can't try to get that alternator replaced again with them, but I also do not trust where the parts are sourced from. EDIT: In addition, when I took my car to a new shop to get the alternator replaced, the mechanic told me frankly: "You got scammed, the alternator [that came out of my car] looks incredibly old and it was never going to last very long."
