I went here on recommendation from my coworker to get my alternator replaced in June of last year…read more It wasn't cheap, but I appreciated that they were very kind about it and got it done somewhat timely (took an extra day than originally said but that's fine). Well, in late April, less than a year after getting this work done, my car starts having stalling problems. I took it into a different shop, and they determined that the alternator had completely gone bad and would need to be replaced AGAIN. I commute, but this was maybe 15,000-20,000 miles at most that was put on this alternator. After showing my mechanic my initial bill, he was floored at the price ($800-$900), saying it was double what was typical for that kind of work. I would NOT recommend taking your car here. I no longer live in the area so I can't try to get that alternator replaced again with them, but I also do not trust where the parts are sourced from. EDIT: In addition, when I took my car to a new shop to get the alternator replaced, the mechanic told me frankly: "You got scammed, the alternator [that came out of my car] looks incredibly old and it was never going to last very long."

So, three vehicle visits later I pull in and they charged me full price for a fix we could have done 6 months ago if someone had listened to me. The last time it was at the shop, they left the windows down and someone in their parking lot must have smoked a whole joint of pot right next to the car because it smelled like pot for two days after I picked it up. Instead of just listening to me, everyone I have told this to on their staff said it's not their mechanics. I have seen guys working on their cars in the lot on weekends. If anyone had just said, sorry about that, we will keep an eye out, that would have been enough to placate me about the pot smell. I will never take any of my vehicles to Global again.

I always felt like they gave a good price and explained exactly what they were doing to my car. I just so happened to catch one of the chain parts stores just prior to closing; they verified my alternator was bad; and (thank the Lord) had one in stock. The young man at the counter suggested a decent hotel in town, and advised: "Now in the morning, you be at Altman's Tire when they open at 8; they'll take care of you." Sure enough, Altman's owner opened the doors just before 8 a.m. the next morning and had me on the road by 10 a.m. The price charged was cheaper than what I would have been charged back home and I've had zero issues with the work they performed.
