One particular man should not be working here. There two middle eastern that works there. One of the middle eastern person has hijab and beard, he's an expert. But other middle eastern employee is VERY VERY LAZY. Has a nasty tone and will make you feel uncomfortable when asking questions. Love this Advance Auto Parts store! They install auto batteries for free as well as wiper blades. Customer service is excellent. Employees will answer any question you may have. I purchased a Maguire's product to make the black plastic trim on my car renewed again after it had faded. I was really happy with that suggestion. Clean store very well laid out. Very clean bathrooms. Fair prices. The problem is when you shop around the store, you find things to buy that you didn't know you needed. LOL but it all turned out well. Call me sexist, but I do not trust women behind the counter of these stores. You can tell when someone you're talking to doesn't know what the hell they're talking about. If we were talking about ingredients in food, or in a cocktail, then maybe I could accept a bit of uncertainty, but not when it comes to my beloved truck. "Dark and Lovely" (that's my truck's name) is my baby and I only want the best for her... which means I won't be coming here for anything else. I've had a disproportionate amount of negative experiences with uninformed female employees at auto stores, and this latest episode only added to my distrust. A few days before #Blizzard2016, I stopped by to pick up some coolant for my truck. I had no clue which one to buy (and the Lexus forums online gave me no definitive answer), so I stopped by here to get some "expert advice". I came in 30 minutes before closing and there was no one on the floor... not a soul. I walked around for a few minutes, and saw no one. Called out for assistance: no one replied. I saw a guy walking around in the back. I called out to him several times and I know he saw me as he walked by (I could've sworn we even made eye contact), but he kept right on walking. I was getting ready to leave when another associate walked out and (impatiently) asked me if she could help me. I told her I was looking for coolant for my truck. She ambled her way from behind the counter and grabbed the first bottle she could find and handed it to me. As she prepared to lumber back behind the counter, I asked her if this is the right stuff for my truck (Already knowing the answer.... She didn't know. I never told her what truck I had, and she never asked.) She mumbled something that sounded like, "I dunno. Does it take prediluted?" I replied "I don't know (I knew). That's why I'm asking you." I instructed her to go to her computer, look up what the system says I should have, and point me in the direction of the specified product. She rolled her eyes and plugged in the info. I asked to see the screen as well, and the system determined that coolant I needed contains Ethylene Glycol. Good. Now we're getting somewhere. 'Now', I ask, "where are the ones with ethylene glycol?". Again she mumbles and shrugs, saying "I dunno... lemme go in the back and ask somebody." At this point I could have grabbed that girl and shook her by her damn shoulders. If you don't like your job, then quit and get a new one. What should have been a 5-minute trip took well over 20 minutes and I had a few other last minute things I needed to do to prepare for this storm. Plus, I wasn't 100% sure that I was sold the right product, even after we looked it up. I don't like leaving a store unsure of my purchase, so I'll be sure not to make any additional purchases here again. read more

Shortly after purchasing a battery at this my car would not operate without a jump. Long story short the battery was defective and the very RUDE manager wouldn't give me a refund or store credit. I wish there was a way to give negative stars. This place is HORRIBLE. I needed a new battery for my car and called ahead of time to find out if they had the availability to install it for me that day because I needed to get my car jumped in order to get there. Whoever answered the phone said that they did, but when I arrived there, they told me that they were too busy to do it. I told them that was unacceptable and they finally agreed to do it - AFTER they helped every other customer in the store. Because I'd need to get my car jumped in order to go elsewhere, I was stuck. They helped every single person in the store, including ALL 13 who came in after me (all of whom were male by the way) before helping me, yet had no problem charging me the $130 for a new battery right away. The best part was when another male customer AND the guy "helping" me laughed at me when I said I wasn't sure what type of engine I had. Sexism and rudeness at its finest. I will NEVER come here again and intend to call the manager and corporate to let them know that this kind of behavior is not to be tolerated. read more

This is specifically pertaining to the Germantown, MD Advanced Auto Parts location... the WORST auto parts store in the tri-state area!!! Avoid at all costs, do yourself a favor, and either go to another location or another store entirely. It is the blind leading the blind and complete incompetence all around. I have ventured to this specific store 4 or 5 times now over the course of 2 years as I live out of state (mostly opting to shop elsewhere when in the area fixing friends and family members vehicles) and each visit is worse than the previous. This final time I attempted to place my order online and cut out the horrible counter services... nope, they still managed to screw that up following not having my order ready when walking in. So instead, they went to incorrectly pull the items while I stood there and corrected them as to what was actually on the receipt. This is while there was a line and two other employees hiding. Not doing stock, not pulling orders... hiding. Cannot shame them, cannot train them I guess. I have no expectations for the staff to have a working knowledge of mechanics, parts and lubricants... I don't even expect them to know what is in their store anymore... but I do expect them to know how to read a ticket, pull an item number, use their own computer system and reference their own advertisements while attempting to be polite and courteous when not being faced with hostility. To clarify, the person being referenced has worked there for some time. Good luck Advanced, you lost a customer for good as this is clearly the acceptable low standard of practice. Sorry for the other locations with effective management, perhaps they should have sent you to train these folks. See the rest of you at NAPA, Auto Zone and the O'Reillys stores moving into the area to take advantage of underperforming stores such as this one. read more

This store (AAP 9012) sucks. I placed an online order for an in-stock item (microfiber towels) using a discount code, and tried to pick it up a half hour later. I was told that the item wasn't in stock. I then attempted (while still in-store) to purchase 2 sets of microfiber rags as a replacement via their website... but couldn't check out because the items (that I was holding in my hand) were "not in stock" in that store. Ridiculous. The inventory system presumably isn't under this store's control, so I can't knock them for that (although I can think unkind thoughts about the business in general)... the 2 star rating is for the attitude of the in-store employees, which was along the lines of "dude, whatever." Rather than try to locate a similar product themselves and match the online discount code, they... did nothing. read more

Understaffed, and even when they aren't understaffed, still develops a terribly long line for no reason at all. The managers are probably the rudest out of anyone that works there, they're very snippy and really don't know what customer service really means. More often than not, when I go in employees are on their phones, eating, or just messing around in general. One time I had some issues and they made an accommodation for me. They might not know how much it meant to me, but it meant a lot! The only issue I have is the prices of Advance Auto Parts Items. Poorly stocked hidden away little shop. Staff could care less if you need help or not. They wont leave the store to come look at your car or help you with parts. They don't even seem to know much about cars. There are a couple guys here that actually try, but still obviously aren't very well suited for the job. They have the best customer service. Our company owed this 24 passenger bus which was built and need to replace the AC compressor, the vin number was associate with an incorrect compressor which won't fit the bus. I checked with so many parts store and I just keep getting the one which won't fit. Thanks to Sam, he spend along time and help me find the correct compressor that actually might be the one that we are looking for. He is so knowledge that he definitely know what he is doing. I have to say that they are the most helpful staff in that store, they don't just sell you the parts, they are there to help out. This store is horrible!!! I made an order online, using a 20% coupon to get 4 quarts of oil. I got to the store and there were 2 associates helping people. It took about 15 minutes to finally get to the counter to tell them I was here to pick up an order that I had placed 3 hours ago. The young lady walked away and went to retrieve the order off of the shelf. This is the third time I have gone that they don't fill the order until you get there. She came back with 1 bottle of oil and told me they were out of stock. She said she would get some from another store and I could pick them up after 1pm the next day. This whole time they had a friend in the store who was acting stupid, making comments and joking with them in a very unprofessional way. I actually was busy and showed up two days later to get my oil and once again had wait again another 15 minutes to be seen. When they brought the oil out, it was in a totally different color bottle, as the one I have been getting for 10 years is black, and this is blue. They also renamed it and I told the guy that it was the wrong order. He shrugged and canceled my order. Not knowing he had canceled the order yet, I asked him to check the shelf to see if maybe they had gotten in the stuff I had ordered. He brought back one bottle of the older stock in the black bottle and told me it was the same part number and they just changed the bottle color. I told him that was fine and I would take it, but of course he already canceled the order and told me that he could ring me up but I would lose my 20% discount. I told him I never asked him to cancel the order, and just give me 20% and we would be good but he told me he had no authority and once an order is canceled, nothing he could do. Went to get a fuel pump for my car. They didn't have in it stock which is fine so they ordered it. They sent it to the wrong store took them two days to realize there mistake and I had to go out of my way to go get and when I got upset they were rude like it was my fault. I had call customer service to get any help. I got the pump had my mechanic go to install it. Two of the holes for the bolts were striped. I took it back, they were unapologetic and refused any kind of discount. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Avoid this store at all costs. After receiving a citation for a broken tag light, I went to AAP to get the replacements. I asked the manager on duty at the time, "Sam", if he could assist me in installing the lights. He said he could not because he couldn't leave the store but he had an employee in the parking lot who was assisting a customer with a battery installation, and that the employee would help me when he finished. So I went outside in the 99 degree heat and patiently waited. When the employee finished with the battery install, I approached and asked if he could help me install the tag lights. The employee barely looked in my direction and as he walked past me he very rudely said "no we don't do that". I said what? He continued to walk towards the door of the store and said over his shoulder "we don't install lights". I followed the employee into store, which was a little difficult as he seemed to be trying to get in the store before me and kind of hit me with the door. I asked for the manager Sam, who had gone into the back. I waited for 20 minutes, while two different employees went into the back to get Sam, who seemed reluctant to come back out to the front. When he finally came out I asked him why he told me the employee would help me with the lights if that is not a service they offer. Sam said "well I never said that, I just said ask him to see if he would help you". So instead on going around and around with Sam, I told him to refund my money and to give me the number of Customer Service. A different employee then offered to show me how to change the lights myself. At this point I just wanted to get my refund and leave. Sam wanted to continue to argue and finally, very truculently gave me my refund and the number for customer service. I stepped outside the store, and called the number Sam gave me, which was in fact a general information number for the Social Security Administration. When I went back in the store, Sam had gone into the back again, and this time refused to come out. This store is staff with the worst employees I have ever encountered. No professionalism, no work ethic, no customer, just vile lazy trifling humans beings. Avoid this store. In fact, if you Google AAP and read the reviews, this lack of concern for customer service is pervasive throughout this company, Go to Autozone or Pep Boys, or anyplace that will treat you better and respect you as a customer. So my husband and I broke down on the side of the road, with my 5 year old son in the car, this evening. My husband jacked up the car, found the issue, and realized we needed one particular part immediately or we would be stranded. It was exactly 8:51pm. We knew there was an Advanced Auto Store close by, so my husband took off running. He made it there by 9:02pm on the dot, mind you we already knew they closed at 9pm but my husband hoped by some chance if he was a minute or two late they'd take pity on our situation and allow him to purchase the ONE PART we desperately needed. Also take into account that there was still a customer inside being checked out. My husband kept knocking on the door, was ignored, and even after the employee by the name of Jenny made direct eye contact with him she continued to walk over to the register after the gentleman was done being checked out by the other employee, closed the register, and then proceeded to walk to the door, open it, and tell my husband they were closed. Now here we are still on the side of the road, waiting on a tow truck. I am absolutely appalled at the lack of customer service, and just general human decency, and sympathy that this employee demonstrated. We live in the Germantown area and go to this Advanced Auto quite frequently. I will say the only reason I am giving this Advanced Auto a one star is because that's the only choice I have. I cannot give 0 stars, or a negative 5 Star like I wanted. I will never go here again, and I will make sure anyone within an ear shot of me knows about my experience. read more
