It pains me to write this review because doing so exposes what an idiot I can be some times, but here we go.... I needed brake pads on my 2006 Mini Cooper and I let the problem go on too long. What should have been a painless auto shop visit turned into a major hit to my wallet through no fault but my own. When I found out that I needed not only pads, but also rotors and sensors, I was pretty upset with myself. I soon realized that I didn't have time to wait for the servicing because I had to go home and get ready for work. These people gave me a ride home and offered to pick me up when the car was ready. They also offered to let me pick up the car after or before shop hours depending on what I needed. Turns out I was able to borrow a car to drive to work that night and my father was able to give me ride back to the shop the next morning. The total bill was exactly what I was quoted and not a penny more. I really appreciate the professional way that I was treated by the staff. They went above and beyond what I had expected and they didn't even make fun of me for ruining my rotors and sensors. read more

After Honda tried to quote me almost $500 for a new muffler due to me somehow puncturing a hole in it, I refused to give in and decided to take my car here to have it checked out. Upon checking in my car, the receptionist was super sweet and sympathized with how unfortunate it was that my car had less than 5000 miles on it with a beat up muffler! She may sympathize with everyone because car repairs are a pain in the wallet and soul, but I think she sincerely felt my pain. After emotionally preparing myself to spend at least $200 on the repairs, I was extremely relieved when they called me to say that they were able to weld it for $50. My heart literally leaped with joy. This place is a gem and they will not try to cheat you with spending more than what the repair is worth! read more

I had some simple exhaust work done to my GS300 and they did a great job and the pricing was fair. They also repaired a broken bolt in my exhaust free of charge. Pretty sure they can do anything from repair simple exhaust leaks to building full custom race setups (lots of circle track/drag racing pictures in their waiting area). read more

Not sure about this place. So I had first visited and was relieved to hear I only needed a new hanger thingy for my exhaust pipe on one side. They did a great and inexpensive $45 job for me that time. A few months later, the other side pipe was hanging low, so I went back thinking it'll need the same job as before. They told me I needed $350 for the exhaust work, which I didn't do only because I ran out of time before I moved out of state. They also told me that I needed a $1,600 job for power steering, etc. (I had heard some whining noise when I turned my steering wheel). I figured I'd better take care of that ASAP, but wanted to get second estimate because of the expense. I took it to Gateway and all I needed for that was injector coil thingy that only costed $350 and solved the problem. Long way from $1600! I later took my car to Midas by where I live now thinking they'd tell me the same that those guys said, but just as I initially thought, Midas said the only issue with exhaust is that same hanger as I had fixed before on the other side- Midas welded it back for $65- no further work needed. Long way from $350 that Advanced wanted. So, they do good work, but whether you actually needed that work or not is a completely different story! read more

These guys are awesome! I took my 2001 Ford F-150 to them to get her running right. I had taken it to Auto Nation Ford Wolfchase and they charged me an insane amount of money and DID NOT fix the problem. Ford quoted me another insane amount of money to fix the problem and I said NO THANKS! I took it to Advance Muffler and explained my situation, they looked at the truck and found the real problems, fixed them, and the truck runs great! I was recommended to come here from Steve's auto. Steve's has always done right by me and so they told me to come here and fix my exhaust as it was rattling and pressing against my brake line, slowly melting it. I pay 200$ which is the price I paid for THE BRAND NEW PIPES a year ago + installation in south carolina. so basically they charged me for brand new pipes, when they just took mine off, reshaped them and welded them back on. I waited 2 hours, got my car and as I'm leaving still have rattling. so I get all the way home and have to turn around and go right back. I drop the car off for the night because it was late in the day and I was irritated already. The manager there isnt very people-person and doesnt speak to customers face to face, he has errand girls behind the counter do it for him. (which i find highly unprofessional) When I explained I still heard the noise the guy who apparently did the job said that was impossible, clearly not since it was happening. After the drop off, mysteriously the rattling was fixed but they blamed it on a vacuum plate that they supposedly adjusted. My pipes now sound completely different mind you, way quieter than before and I noticed on acceleration the car seemed bogged down (I noticed this when I picked it up the first time) when I picked it up today they attempted to charge me for blown motor mounts and tranny mount 599$ and if I supply my own parts, 550$. basically the sleazy as fuck practice of raising their hourly rate to charge me more. Now I'm from Miami, a real city with 6million people. My father was a mechanic FULLY ASE certified for 25 years, I grew up fixing my own cars and I know what parts and labor cost. The standard labor cost is 60$/hr this place thinks highly of themselves and charg 95/hr, but to have me bring in my own parts they raised that hourly rate to 120$/hr. Unbelievable and so I said hell no, called Steve's back up where they quoted me 300$ if I supply my parts. I'm not the average uneducated woman who knows nothing about their car, I've driven nothing but mustangs since I was 13 and like I said, mechanic father for 25years. I know my stuff. I also know that the motor mount job takes 1.5 hours at best and is a relatively simple job. I would do it myself if I had a lift or an engine hoist. Many of these mechanic places don't realize that not all customers are gullible idiots. That said as I opened my car I realized 1. it was unlocked. this shop is in the middle of the serious ghetto, and my car was parked out-front and unlocked. 2. they got grease and dirt all over my tan seat covers. the inside of my car is fucking filthy, my steering column is filthy, my door was filthy, it pissed me off. but the real straw on the camels back and why I am leaving this review is the moment I attempted to put my drivers window down, the window "mysteriously" fell off the track. Screw this place, if they want to abuse customers in this way they don't deserve them. Now I have to go somewhere else to have work done on my car, which is fine with me since at least I know it will be done RIGHT and things wont mysteriously fucking break while I'm still in the goddamn parkinglot. read more

Each time the estimate was adhered to steadfast even when more time and effort was demanded from the vehicle. In a city as deplorable as Memphis has become. It pains me to write this review because I had no problems with the service at Advance until today (the ladies at the front desk are always really kind and pleasant which is why I almost gave them two stars instead of one). I recently had my vehicle repaired because an EVAP code caused my check engine light to come on a month ago. The repairs were all complete and my vent valve and purge solenoid were both replaced. This came to approx $550.00. Well, I returned this week because my engine light came back on while driving. I was told that I now have a LARGE EVAP leak. Quite comical (yet, insulting) since they just repaired the leak last month. I left baffled but couldn't help but wonder: 1) Why wasn't this detected when the valve leak was first repaired in May?, 2) How did a leak turn from a small to a large leak after it was serviced by their mechanics?, and 3) How does the leak get worse after the two main components of the EVAP system were repaired- the he EVAP canister vent control valve and the EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve? Of course they were nice enough to tell me that I could pay another 95.00 for them to diagnose it and tell me why the leak is larger this time (although I know it is the same code from the previous repair). I am very disappointed that they were dishonest and suggest you keep looking if you are considering their services. You have been warned.... Update: Took my car to the dealership and it was my gas cap. Again, patronize at your own risk......I would also strongly advise all professional African American women to stay away from this shop as I suspect this had something to do with their decision to take advantage of me. read more

I used this shop back in 2016 to build an entirely new exhaust system and install and new manifold on my 1964 Ford Fairlane. The lady at the counter and the technician working on the car were both curtious and professional and the work was good (at least on the exhaust part). I noticed pretty soon after that I had an exhaust leak. I don't drive the car much and pretty much ignored it, but it got worse. I brought the car back to them recently and they told me they couldn't warranty the work - since it had been 4 years - fair enough. I just wanted them to acknowledge that they did ALL of the install and that they put on the manifold. They would not. I asked if they were under new management - they refused to answer. The tech called me later that day, and I will just summarize here: he was completely rude, he used foul language, he threatened me physically and then he told me I could come get my car or he would leave it on the street overnight (on Summer Ave). This was all because he wanted me to just agree to pay $300+ to even get to the problem. He thought the manifold was warped, but when I told him it was only four years and less than 200 miles old he just argued with me. He told me bolts would break and cost $50ea to replace, but I told him they had only been in for four years, not 40 years. He accused me of saying I wouldn't pay for the work - which I never said. He told me I could come get my car in the morning and that I better not say anything about it. This was the worst experience I have ever had with a car technician. This place should do a serious re-training of their staff (even the rude counter lady). I can only assume the business was sold since the last time I went there. Too bad. read more

Quality of work seems ok but they ask me to have the car there at 7:30 on a Saturday so they could complete that day.....i did but it didn't happen. Had to push to get car back Monday at 5pm because their garage door didn't work! PRICE?? Really.... charged me 4 hours to replace a cat-back (muffler) i could (and should've) done with car ramps in 2 hrs. Sorry but not again. read more

Highly recommend this auto shop! I have my 1999 Tahoe serviced here and my son does the same with his 1995 Honda Civic. We have never had any problems with their work over many years. They are honest and fair in their pricing. Plus the two people in the office are very competent and go out of their way to be helpful. For example, I bought tires at a company that recently changed hands and they offered to phone them to see if they would still rotate the tires for free. Of course, this meant I did not have to pay Advance to do it, but obviously, the customer (me) came first. read more

My car was having issues brought in to them they said they had the solution. Four hundred dollars later and two days without a car and their solution fixed nothing. Brought my car back in the next day to see if they had a new plan. I waited for a call to see what they recommended I did not receive a call. After five hours I called them to see what the hold up was. They told me, without my permission or approval, had ordered and were already installing an expensive piece of equipment in the car. I initially took my truck there for an exhaust leak repair. It turned into a broken mirror and two more trips to the shop and still an exhaust leak. I took my 2004 f150 to advance muffler & auto at 3619 summer ave on 10/11/2013 to have an exhaust leak fixed. The service manage called me mid morning and told me that they could make a new flange or replace the catalytic converters to fix the leak. I told him that since there was no issue with the catalytic converters that making the new flange would be fine. He quoted me 238$ and told me that it would be ready to pick it up that afternoon. When I arrived to pick up my truck they informed me that they broke my driver side mirror but they were going to fix it as soon as the mirror they ordered came in. I payed the cashier 238.49 for the repairs they claimed to do and was told that the repairs had a 12000 mile warranty or one year. I left and noticed I could still hear the exhaust leak and also feel the leak around the flange. They also told me they replaced the studs and nuts on the flange and I was also billed for it but the studs and nuts that were in the flange when I inspected it were rusted and appeared to be the exact same as the factory studs and nuts. I called them on my way home and spoke with the cashier and told her the issue with it still leaking and she informed me that I could bring it in that following morning. I returned to the shop on Saturday 10/12/2013 to have the leaking exhaust resolved. The service manager informed me that they snugged up the nuts on the studs and that it was no longer leaking I was not billed for anything on this trip. On my way home I noticed that I could still hear the exhaust leak. When I arrived at home I could also feel the air coming from the flange. The third time my vehicle went to the shop on 10/15/2013 a friend had to take it for me due to already missing days of work to attempt to get the issue resolved. The service manager was informed that the studs were not new and that it was still leaking. At this point they replaced the driver side mirror and the studs and nuts on the flange. I could not pick my vehicle up during business hours so I did not have a chance to speak with them before leaving. Once again I could still hear the exhaust leak on my way home. I also noticed weather stripping from the replacement of my mirror in my driver side door panel. I am truly disappointed with the service I've received. Yes they did fix the mirror that they damaged but if there is weather stripping not replaced then it also is not fixed correctly. Not to mention my exhaust is still leaking. I see no reason to be billed for something that was never fixed. read more

my toyota rav-4 was running like a sewing machine friday, like it always does. i drove it saturday morning to see a computer friend of mine. loud noise from below the engine. lifted the hood. it was near the exhaust mainfold. i immediately took it to advance muffler on summer. filled out the paperwork around 9:30 a.m. described the problem. it was the flexpipe. it was ready by 11:30! i noticed all the customer comments in picture frames along an entire wall. these people are experts in all kinds of exhaust problems. and, they are honest. don't go anywhere else! read more
