If you want to feel like "eye cow" look no further than Advanced Eye Care where the staff treat patients like cattle until you meet Dr. Harney- The sole person working there who demonstrates that they have soul.. No one has anything good to say save Dr, Harney and the salespeople trying to get you buy something post exam. Booking appointments a year in advance they leave a message 2 days before about your appointment. They canceled my appointment claiming that I had to call them back to confirm even though they do not say that on the message. No one there cares about you or your eyes. Your just an insurance number to them and they act like it every step of the way. read more

Terrible business practice. They confirm an appointment thru text and then cancel the day before you're supposed to show up thru a voice mail message that I never received. Their reason for my blind cancellation was my insurance wasn't accepted there. Never asked me about paying out of pocket. There are much better choices available that care about helping patients and not treating you like an insurance dollar sign. read more

I've been waiting months to be able to make an appointment due to the pandemic. That is not the issue here, I completely understand. However, after finally being able to make an appointment. I get a call a week before said appointment that the doctor isn't in on Mondays and I need to reschedule for over a month later... One month later, I call and ask when my appointment is (it's been so long that I needed a reminder). Turns out my appointment is in 2 days. Perfect. A couple hours later, I receive a call to confirm my appointment. I don't get a chance to return the call and confirm until the next day (honestly, didn't think I needed to, since I JUST CALLED AND ASK WHEN MY APPOINTMENT WAS). Returned the call today (24 hours later) and my spot had already been filled with no openings until September. What a joke. read more

I felt like they cared that I had a good experience. Wonderful that they have a machine so you don't need to get your eyes dilated!! I brought my 6 year old daughter here. I could not be more pleased by their professionalism and kindness. From the receptionist, to the assistant, the doctor, and the person who helped with finding the right glasses for her. I would recommend this practice to anyone looking. Maddie, the assistant explained everything before she did anything testing. Dr. Harney explained my daughters vision status to me very clearly and was very personable and actually talked to my daughter. David, who helped with choosing glasses and final check out was extremely friendly and also helped with measuring for glasses. He used a device to help with measuring and was very kind to show her there was nothing to be afraid of. I am so pleased by this practice. read more

The people who work at the front desk are great, so I feel a bit guilty writing this. My biggest problem was that the prescription I was given was wrong. I have a pair of sunglasses from Lenscrafters that I like and Advanced Eye care could not give me lenses to fit the frame. The same day I went to Lenscrafters with the new Advanced Eyecare prescription and ordered lens for the sunglasses. In a few weeks my new glasses came in at Advanced Eye Care and the prescription was wrong. I had just spent 218.00 on new lenses at Lenscrafters and the prescription was wrong. The eye doctor would not pay for the new lenses because they were not from his store. The analogy I gave him was if my car had been diagnosed and I went to a mechanic who did the work only to find the diagnosis was wrong whose fault is it. Its almost ridiculous that there was this back and forth about the prescription being wrong. I filed a report with the better business bureau, and he after some negotiation offered to pay 50%. The mistake made was one of 100% and at this point I did not trust the lenses I would be getting. I paid for the new lenses myself. At one point I was thinking of taking him to small claims because it might re align similar business activity in the future. I moved to a EyeCare in Tewksbury which is light years above Advanced. They do a thorough examination as opposed to Advanced where you are basically whisked though a series of machines, which was another thing I did not like about Advanced. The complaint is on file with the BBB. read more

My glasses literally fell apart in Lowell and I just looked up the closest opticians and drove there because my vision is so bad I could not drive back to Worcester where i got my last eye exam/glasses from. So i came to advanced eye associates and they were sooooo kind and helpful. The receptionist was super nice and their associates were too, even though they were busy this lady took my beyond fcked up glasses and fixed them in 20 minutes. They were so professional that I made an appointment there for my next eye exam. Can't thank them enough read more

I just bought a frame for $210 and else where sold for $159 (Not with special or on sale, etc). I support local business but 32% more?!?!?! I asked if they can do anything about it. I have been seeing Dr. Harney for about 15 years now (since I was a young kid). He is by far, the most thorough optometrist/eye doctor I have ever met. If you mention something, anything at all that concerns him he will check again and again to make sure a) he doesn't think it's an issue or b) make sure if something needs to happen, it does. He is also extremely honest- if something is not his specialty, he will send you to a colleague to make sure you are seen by the best. I see him on a yearly basis and he reads my entire file each time to make sure that any problems I mentioned in the past haven't gotten worse and ofcourse, he evaluates again. His office sometimes gets backed up, but I always go before Thanksgiving so this may have something to do with that. Other Yelpers have had issues with their glasses and prescriptions, I have never had an issue (but that is just my experience). I also have two different eye insurances, and they always check to make sure which insurance is going to give me the correct and most benefits. Really, I could not ask for more. Side note for those that hate this: As of 11/2013, they have a new machine so they don't have to dilate your eyes anymore! I was thrilled this year! read more

Glad to say I have finally found an optometrist. Dr, Karalekas is the best! I was referred to him by my sister and I could not be happier. He's very informative and thorough. Patient when I had questions. Gentle when doing the eye exams and made sure I was comfortable with the prescription. He even remember my sister who havent been to the office in years. His energy and excitement is contagious. Love the fact the office has up to date technology, offers complimentary coffees, teas, and wifi. The staff are friendly, professional and prompt. Location is also great. Right off of the Lowell Connector and next to the 99 with lots of parking. I would definitely recommend Dr. Karalekas and the Advanced Eye Care Associates. It doesn't get any better than this. read more

Very nice staff but completely incompetent. I have had the same prescription for years and they can't seem to get it right. I ordered new glasses here and had to go back four times before they actually got the lens to match what I needed. They couldn't seem to figure out that I have an astigmatism, even though I told them that I did during my first visit. I was willing to overlook the issue because they were always very pleasant, but just reordered my contacts and they got the prescription wrong again. It should not be this difficult, needless to say I will be finding a new optometrist, one who can at least deliver basic services. Like being able to reorder a prescription correctly. read more

Very impressed with this company. As a lifetime eyeglass/contact wearer, I made an appt and saw Dr. Karalekas. I don't think there is a better optometrist! He was friendly, polite, and full of information. Prior to seeing him, the staff did a wonderful job performing all the tests needed and the office staff was very nice. The office is very clean and sterile. I felt comfortable having my eye's examined at this office. Dr.Karalekas went above and beyond in performing all the tests that I needed and took plenty of time to review his findings. He fit me with a prescription and although that prescription was a little off, he made time for a second appointment and ordered a new prescription with no expense by me. The contact lenses were a new brand and they worked out perfectly after the Doctor allowed me to try them at home for a week. I was referred to their Opthamologist due to a concern that Dr. Karalekas picked up in my tests. I saw Dr. Wan (Sorry not sure of spelling) whom did a splendid job of checking my eyes but unfortunately I did have a problem. I walked out of this office on a Friday and worried all weekend. I called Monday to make an appt with Dr. Karalekas, but was told the doctor would call me back within 10 minutes. He did exactly that and put my mind to ease and gave me the information that I should have asked for on the previous Friday, but I was just so stunned, I did not. I hope to continue with this practice as this office is innovative, with fantastic doctors. I am grateful I have found them. read more
