I was looking to update my frame and prescription because i had the same glasses and prescription for about 5 years. I called Pismo Beach Optix and spoke to a lovely Lisa. We scheduled my appointment for the next day. I came in (we both had our masks on because of covid of course) and Lisa showed me around her store. Lisa is very knowledgeable of glasses and sunglasses and knows which look best depending on the person that is trying them on. After trying a couple of different styles we ended up going with the Neubau Oskar glasses! They have a more classic look, a lighter frame and i just love the way the look on me haha. After that Lisa did my exam which was an absolute breeze. She asked about my job and what type of work i do. I told Lisa i do a lot of computer work so i felt that my eyes were a bit more sensitive to light. Lisa suggested that i go with a special coating called recharge by Hoya which reflects blue light! We also went with self tinting glasses because i always wanted a pair of prescription sunglasses and this option would be the best of both worlds. before leaving she cleaned and polished my lenses on my old glasses which i could not believe Thank you again Lisa. 2 days later she called me and told me my glasses were ready for pickup. So i went in and tried them on. OMG it was like going from SD to HD. Lisa adjusted my glasses to fit my head properly and then we walked outside. I could see so much further than before and the colors seem more vibrant! I honestly just stood outside looking up and down the street amazed at what i could see and with the auto tint the sun was less straining on my eyes. 2 weeks later my eyes are fully adjusted to my new lenses and i do actually notice a positive difference being on my computer all day. I highly recommend Pismo Beach Optix--knowledgeable and fantastic service. I'd been looking for a pair of photochromic sunglasses that provided protection from wind, dust, and pollen when I drive my roadster. I found a few online, but wanted to try them on to make sure they fit well and provided good peripheral vision. My wife and I were in Atascadero for a weekend vacation, and I thought I'd try to find someplace to find sunglasses that would work. I came across Pismo Beach Optix, and the positive reviews here. We were looking for an excuse to drive down the coast anyway, so I figured it was worth a shot. Right away I could tell this would be a great experience. The owner Lisa listened to what I wanted and quickly helped me narrow down choices. I found a pair of Wiley X glasses I liked, but they did not have photochromic lenses. Not a problem--Lisa would order them and ship them to me. Next week I talked to Lisa and she said that Wiley X no longer carried photochromic lenses for that style--not a problem, as she could just order prescription lenses without the prescription! Lisa was very helpful, took time to show me a lot of options and (quite easily - they're great!) convinced me to invest in a pair of Maui Jims. My old Ray-Bans had lost a screw on the second day of our vacation stay, so when we passed by this store, I thought I might check it out for a replacement. Even though it wasn't planned, my wife found an awesome pair of Burberrys. Lisa gave me a good deal on a Clubmaster pair and threw in a hardcase box, not one of those flimsy pouches you usually get. On our way out, I told her about what happened to my old pair and she immediately offered to fix them for me. She wanted nothing for it, and even offered me a pouch, which I respectfully declined, since she had been so generous already, not just with the sunglasses, but also interacting with our two little kids, who can be a bit lively and demanding. I was going to leave this review as a "regular buying customer", but realized that my story says even more of the kind of person Lisa (and her husband) is.. I was in town for the annual Clam Festival with my girlfriends visiting from the Bay Area, we participated in the Wine Walk (woo hoo!) and were waiting patiently at the end for a raffle drawing for fun prizes. My name was pulled for tickets to the Jazz Jubilee in Pismo, which is for the following (next) weekend. Super cool but not really a prize for me, considering Im not a local and definitely wouldn't be making the 3.5 hour trek for the day the following weekend. Enter Lisa, owner of Pismo Beach Optix, who overheard me answer "Um, probably not" when the people who were handing me my prize asked if I would get use out of it.. Lisa said if I wanted to trade the tickets with her, she would bring me to her shop to pick out sunglasses I like. Wow! Hell yea! She actually had donated $400+ Jimmy Choo sunglasses to the cause that were raffled off just before I won my prize so super score! I met up with her the next morning, and she was so welcoming, funny, and knowledgeable! When I think about it, she was doing this for me as a visitor in her town, not because she needed the tickets I was trading for (she owns her business, she is on the Chamber of Commerce), and not because I was a paying customer, just as an awesome person helpin a girl out. She brought me a ton of glasses to pick out, and I loved them all! She had such a great selection and she really helped explain the different between all of the glasses, face shape, nose bridge, vision needs, etc. I narrowed it down to Marc Jacobs and Von Zipper, and after texting a picture to my (hungover) girlfriends back at the condo, and getting an opinion from her husband, I decided to go with the Von Zipper. I LOVE THEM! Sturdy, do their sun blockin job and sooooo cute! She couldve stopped there, but no, she gave me a bag for them to live in, a little spray bottle to clean them with, a cloth for wiping them, ANOTHER bag for my cheapo sunglasses that I walked in with AND TIGHTENED THE SCREWS ON MY CHEAPOS SO THEY FIT BETTER. You know how everybody says flippant comments about how customer service ain't what it used to be? You could NEVER say that about this woman and her business. Last but not least, she sees me with my girlfriends walking through the festival later in the day and hoots and hollers at me while passing by, way to make me blush and feel like a little celebrity. Ok so short story long but being back home and thinking about my awesome weekend in PB and super cool experience at Pismo Beach Optix just leaves me giddy and grateful. I wish I could give this place 10 stars! My husband won a free pair of sunglasses at the Clam Festival, and, of course, I took it off him. I was a little unsure of what we actually won. Was it a particular pair of sunglasses, or my choice? A couple of weeks after I won, in I went. Lisa, the owner, was delighted to see my winning certificate. She was helping another customer, but told me she would be with me shortly. Soon, I got involved with the other customer's eyeglass decision, because that is the sort of friendly environment Lisa created. Later the other customer stuck around to give me advice. It was really fun. I do not like anything too blingy, and she respected that. She found a great pair for me, but then I mentioned that I injured my eye a few years ago, and now it is very sensitive to light, so she started all over again to get me the best protection. Usually, I am the type of person who just grabs a pair of sunglasses at Costco, but now I see the merits for going to a place like this and getting a high quality pair of glasses. Of course, all future sunglass purchases will be made at Pismo Beach Optix, because it is a wonderful store! It's my first time ever needing prescription glasses so I was a bit lost to say the least, not only that I have no fashion sense at all! The owner Lisa was super friendly. I had told her it's my first time looking for glasses, and she was sooooooo helpful, taught me a lot about the prescription basics! She is welcoming and unbelievably helpful.
