I was shocked at Advanced. They've got a pretty primitive website but go to the facility and you'll see them converting everything from ambulances to buses to sky patrol vehicles to vans. It's quite a outfit. They were recommended to me by a Colorado outfit which is no longer doing conversions. They put in 4wd, a 2" lift, rear bumper plus winch on a GMC Savana. They went above and beyond when my van developed a slight leak. A gasket was cut just a little too short with no impact on the 4wd. They had someone fly down to Vegas - pick up the van, fix it, and drive it back. Impressive! read more

However, after meeting Randy, I think the negative reviews are really without merit. Randy gave me a tour of his facility and it was clear that his team does a LOT of these conversions and they really know what they're doing. Randy is honest and a straight shooter. He's not going to make you a promise that he can't keep. As a small business owner dealing with supply chain issues and the possibility that an employee might come down with Covid, it's hard to make a firm commitment on timing. The Team at AFWDS completed a commendable Class A Winnebago Sightseer conversion to 4WD. The Team fabricated a solution to meet my 4 wheel drive demands and delivered the most geometrically matched suspension I could have imagined. They installed 8 shocks with each of the pairs in a push/pull tolerance model. They installed dual steering stabilizers. They updated the Leaf Springs from F53 to F59 providing my rig the rigid suspension needed for driving on Sand Beaches. They installed Limited Slip Differentials Front and Rear. The combination of all of these high quality upgrades and the way the team put them all together resulted in my absolute pride in ownership. My rig driving geometry is one of the finest I've ever experienced. Advanced Four Wheel Drive does quality builds and is ran by friendly folks. The price was reasonable for doing a 4x4 upgrade on an RV. Send them an email with your vehicle specs and what you would like to have done. They will provide you with an honest assessment and a quote if the build is possible. I contacted Randy and his group to upgrade a Leisure Travel Libero RV, which is based on a Chevy 3500 cutaway van chassis, to 4x4 with a 2" lift. Living 13 hours from Salt Lake, I was provided a quote and was told it would be 7 weeks till they could start. I made my plans, drove the RV down and met Randy on a Saturday afternoon. I was quoted 4 weeks to complete the task and I kept clear weekends 5 and 6 in case there were any problems. After 3 weeks, Randy contacted me to report it was ready. I flew out 2 weeks later to take delivery on a Friday afternoon. After a short test drive with Shayne, we found a minor flaw, he put it back on the lift, did a quick fix and a quick test drive later proved everything worked great. A 13 hour drive at speed limits of up to 80 mph through the mountain passes to Seattle proved the build was quality! Remember if you are bringing an RV or other equipment in to be upgraded or repaired, to give them a few weeks to do the job. Any major modification requires time to do it right. Toyota FJ Cruiser I had a known issue with the rear differential being too small for the size of the vehicle based on Toyota's factory information released. All local shops quoted 700-800 just to diagnose the problem to rebuild the rear differential. This shop completed diagnosis and the repair for $550 out the door. They said they see a lot of FJs with this issue and know exactly what the issue was. A couple days in the shop and my vehicle purrs like a kitten now. Thanks guys!! read more

I purchase a new Nissan NV 3500 and has Advanced 4x4 convert it to 4x4 in addition to a lift and rack system. The vehicle has been nothing but problems with less than 20,000 miles is has: been in the repair shop(s) for around 2 months total, is on its third transmission and had to be driven back to Salt Lake City two times to Advanced 4x4 for repairs. Because of all the repair work that has had to be done, Nissan has ruled it to fall under the lemon law and has provided a few options to help me get out of this mess. However this doesn't account for the over fifteen thousand dollars spent for the work done by advanced, which is what the local dealership is saying has caused all the problems. Throughout this process I have been working with Randy whom I believe is the owner. Now that the vehicle is having another problem he has gone silent and won't return my phone call or emails. Additionally, I had to make multiple phone calls and emails to get the ladder I paid for which was not delivered, Randy also failed to deliver on his promise to reimburse for mileage as it had to be driven thousands of miles to his shop for repairs. I strongly advise staying away from this business. This unit had the build done in 1994, and the welds are all still intact, no cracks, springs are straight, and while the body of the unit has probably been cared for somewhere in it's past likely long ago, the frame & running gear are still stout and look ready to get back to work!" read more

Spoke to Randy and explained the issue we were having with our Trailblazer He said that he could do the diagnostics for free it would probably be any easy fix around 250.00. Dropped the vehicle off and was told they would need it for a couple days max. Never heard back from them called numerous times, no one answered, after several days I finally got through to them. I was told by Randy that he needed to buy some parts that they were having a hard time trouble shooting it. I reminded him that I did not want to put a lot of money into the car it has almost 200,000 miles and we weren't planning on keeping it much longer. He said it would be around 300.00 I told him that was doable. Again never heard back from them, continued to call finally got an answer and was told my car was now at the dealer getting re-programed, I did not give permission for my car to be moved to the dealer. Waited a day and started calling again, no answer. When I did get through to Randy I was told it was back for the dealer and still not fixed, that he didn't know what was wrong with it that it could take anywhere from 1-4 more hours of labor to figure out. I told him - I don't know how much time you should spend on it since you haven't kept me informed, like I said its old and has almost 200,000 miles on it, I can't afford to spend a lot of money on it. He said that he had over 900.00 into it now and that he would only charge me 685.00. He said that he was able to get the auto 4WD to work but not the 4 high or 4 low. I told him I couldn't believe he continued working on it without talking to me first, the last quote he gave me was 300.00. He said "you can be mad at me if you want but I'm basically out money on this deal, its like I've paid you to work on your car......." Where is the logic in that? I have never dealt with a business that would continue to rack up fees without a single update on the progress or to get approval to continue hiking up the price. 19 days later, 749.00 after taxes and I have a car that isn't fixed. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! I will be reporting this shop to the BBB among other things. I have never felt so ripped off in my life! read more

Worst service you could imagine! This is a long story, but worth it. I made an appointment and took my truck in because it had a nasty bearing noise, and I couldnt quite tell if it was a wheel bearing or something from my front diff. They had my truck for over a month and did not call me a single time (no exaggeration). I waited two weeks to call, thinking they need time to do their work. They said they hadnt even started yet. So then I started calling every 3 days to check up. Finally one day I call and they say "oh ya, its done, come pick it up"... never once did they tell me what was being replaced or at what cost. They charged over $800 and said they replaced my front driveshaft, and both front wheel bearings, and the rest of the noise was "tire noise" Start driving away, and the same damn noise I took the truck in for is still there... Ive had these same type of tires on 3 different trucks over 8 years... its NOT tire noise. So I take it into Six States (they were backed up, but worth the wait!!!!) and they say its a wheel bearing. Interesting, cuz they are supposedly brand new wheel bearings. Finally knowing what the problem is, I replace the bearings on both sides myself. Obviously since the sound never went away, the bearings were NOT new. Magically, the noise is gone! Apparently these guys get off on trying to take advantage of people, or at least anyone who doesnt drive a van they can convert. Moral of the story, take your truck here if you want a months-long battle to get your money back.. Take your truck to Six States if you want something fixed. read more

in the spring of 2015, i bought a 1995 gmc vandura conversion van that had been converted to 4wd by Advanced in 1995. it is still going strong, but the steering was loose, darting, or wandering, whatever you want to call it. so, i took the van to my local alignment shop here in colorado and asked them to fix it. well, for reasons i don,t know the local shop didn't want to order new steering parts themselves, they wanted me to get them. so i was in between the local shop and Advanced and it was frustrating for me and Advanced to deal with the local shop on getting the right parts. but, the techs at Advanced did a great job getting the local shop to understand what was needed and what parts to order. thank you Advanced for helping me out. will recommend you guys to anyone needing help with their 4wd problems. read more
